@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks True, or perhaps he even knew they were spares, but valued his board so much that he wanted to make sure they were removed to the proper storage places?
I don't think it was so much touching as leaving his stuff on them. I have seen Paylie and Glamour walk across or lay on the board, and Todd does not care. Just don't leave your stuff on it. Lol 😁
things should be in their proper place! nothing on Todd’s talking board! things like that just drives Todd off the wall! great job Todd keeping it all neat!
He must have felt unsure of what to do with them, unlike the ball. It was cute to see Paulie seemingly being friendly with Todd. Little did he know of his infraction! :D Also, the way Todd looked up at the camera after moving the ball! So interesting.
I think the difference may have been that he saw the ball as a toy on the board, and he recognized the pieces as part of his board and maybe thought they had come off of it.
Todd is an excellent supervisor. He points out your error so you can see it and learn from it. He let you figure out what was wrong and how to correct it. lol
That's hysterical, not only did he chase Paulie away, he removed the item and looked at the camera like, did you get that on record? The one with you, he did his special back leg press and then sat and looked at the items and then at you.. he is a character.
Cat eye-language is one of my favorite things in the world. The level of 'you seein this' sass when you see what you did is so good XD. Also, Todd thought bubbles are always the right choice lol
Todd is a neat freak. Most Cats are rightfully so. They like order in their universe. It is as it should be. Also lessons learned, by some humans in kindergarten: put things back where you found them! It really is The Golden Rule in practice.
The funny thing about his back foot presses is that, many years ago, I was taught that the reason why cats set their back feet this precisely was not that they knew where to put them (under their bellies and out of their sight), but that they simply set them wherever their front paws had stepped. Todd proves this wrong. And it seems the other cats also just _choose_ to set their hind feet in the places where their front legs went while navigating obstacles because that just makes sense.
As everyone has said, hilarious conversation. And he makes sure you see it on camera, obvious that he understands buttons are so important to that communication and he understands the camera is part of the communication network. Way more than my talking cat!
Well, how can you learn if no one points out your (heinous) mistakes! Good job Todd! ❤ As long as he doesn’t turn into Russell from Catmanjohn you’re all good! 😂
This is absolutely fascinating. I love this ‘look’ instruction. It proves (to me) that this isn’t about randomly pushing buttons to get attention or whatever, as animals behaviourists assert. This is a v specific instruction & shows he understands the meaning behind human words / sounds. Breaking the fourth wall as well. I’m gobsmacked, though I shouldn’t be tbh. They understand more than we know.
I don't know why the behaviorists ignore the fact of feral humans and language when they dismiss animals' use of buttons that play recorded words in human language. Feral humans were abused by being held in isolation so that they could not learn language. If rescued before age 12, they will learn language with the natural grammar of the local language. After age 12, they can learn words but not grammar. To them the phrase, "Cat on chair" and "Chair on cat" mean the same thing. They can communicate but only at a rudimentary level. This seems to be how animals that use buttons communicate. They just don't get the grammar except randomly, but they can grasp the meaning associated with words and respond accordingly, even if the order is mixed up according to natural grammar. Humans are able to learn language from before birth to age 12, with most children learning the local language to a fairly sophisticated degree by age 9, and some even sooner. So the animal behaviorists' criticism is imprecise, began grammar is not language. If it were, then I'd argue that every natural language would develop with exactly the same grammar, but it doesn't. La vieja casa roja is translated into English literally as, the old house red, but in English we say, The old red house. We have to learn words the same way cats do, it's just that we go on to learn grammar so well that small children correctly the way to change the tense of words such as "sit" is "sitted." The only reason we say "sat" instead is because "sit" is an irregular verb. Typical kids learn that very quickly, while autistic kids tend to get confused with verbs in general, even the ones that follow the natural rules. But just because a cat might have to express the meaning by using "time words," e.g. "Before sit," or "Sit before," that doesn't mean the cat isn't communicating thoughts by using words that he understands.
Clear as can be; he sits and waits, looking down at the offending pieces and up at you several times, making sure you know what he wants you to look at.
That is so cute hehe. I love that he made you come and pick up the pieces haha. Cats are very fastidious and I see Todd takes his personal button board seriously ! 🙂
The thing that strikes me is how respectful he is about it. He doesn't allow his territory to own him; instead Todd waits until he's sure Paulie is done playing, he approaches very diplomatically, only nudging Paulie to move elsewhere when he gets a little defensive, and then moves the Ball off his button board. He does it again with you, he knows you're the one who works with those pieces and alerts you to them being on the floor next to his board. What a sweet individual you have on your hands.
Tod is something. :) I love how he looked up into the camera just after moving the ball from his board. He seems to understand cameras. That is a vary interesting concept.
Paulie getting his toy on the board is what I was thinking of in the recent video where there was a wrapper on Todd's board and Todd was upset, but didn't say, "Look. Get this off my words."
I put his prescription food in the mousey. He gets it in the morning and evening. Once he's had it, he has to wait for the next one. He takes the Jingle Ball downstairs on the hardwood and bit is loud. My wife was asleep, and he had to wait until she woke up.
Love how you offered the pieces for him to sniff instead of just quickly removing them. Very respectful of his way of knowing the world. ❤
Thank you
It just goes to show how important that board is to him.. it’s the way he communicates with his Papa so don’t mess with it
Exactly
He appreciated the value of communication! The buttons are more precise than a Meow! And, I think Todd understands and appreciates precision.
I agree
lol... that is hilarious a clean board = a happy Todd dont mess up his board 😁 Dad ....love it
😁
I love that he could have just pushed the pieces off himself, like he did with Paulie's ball, but he calls on you to correct your error instead.
It may have been he recognized them as board parts and was concerned parts were coming off.
If Todd doesn’t correct him how will Dad ever learn from his mistakes?😂
Amazing leadership skills! Paulie: Kisses, but also get away. Dad: pay attention to my boundaries - you fix it, then I’ll let you pet me.
