Service reels myself for the boys in the sea angling club been doing it more since I retired three years ago keeps the old grey matter ticking over still learning a lot but I’m getting better at it I think your videos certainly help a lot and take some of the trial and error out of it it’s a pretty harsh environment we fish in north east England especially in winter for the cod so the reels take a bit of a battering at time so if you don’t maintain them properly break downs occur anyway your videos certainly help with repairing and servicing reels I’m not familiar with thanks again 👍🎣

What were the two types of grease you used? I noticed the product used on the drag disks was different from the grease used on the gears and housing.

Yes, thanks for reaching out..... see the description section for the types of greases and oils I use. Hit the thumbs up and spread the word about the channel.

How do you remove and service or replace the spool bearing. In the left sideplate? Is the bearing a slip fit or press fit in the sideplate?

Thanks for watching! It's not designed to be removed.... it's peened in (like the one under the bridge plate - part 3 on the schematic). However, if it needs to be replaced, you pop it out with a bearing removal tool and replace it.... it just won't be locked in the cavity anymore. Be careful you don't damage the side plate when trying to remove it.

Hi: I own this reel and unfortunately it is allowing line to slip off the spool even when the drag is tightened all the way. When reeling a heavy lead weight in while halibut fishing the line slips off the reel in jerky movements, like one of the gears is damaged. I took the reel apart and could find no missing teeth on either the main gear or the pinion (spindle) gear. Do you have any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks!

Thanks for checking out the video, Scott. Three things come to mind:
      1) your drag stack could be compressed and or fuzed together. If so, they need to be changed.
      2) The washer under the main gear may need to be replaced.
      3) The bushing/sleeve in the center of your main gear could be loose. Hold the main gear in your hand and try pushing it with your thumb.... use a good amount of pressure. If it moves at all, you should replace the gear.
      Hope it helps.
