Hi! Great description for correct maintenance. I just bought a Daiwa 400 sealine with an old glass fiber rod. Will do maintenance now according to your description. One more question, the eye- loops on the rod are bent on the glass fiber with fine tissue garment. I'd like to renew the rubber coating. Would you use gum- solution or plastic coating? Thanks, Jens

You’re over greasing it, it will attract a lot of dirt and grime

I went through the entire assembly/disassembly and my reel still feels a little coarse compared to some other battle 3s when I spin the rotor - any ideas what I might have missed or what could be the issue?

Sir the drag adjustment of my reel doesn't make a clicking sound when i tighten it. What is the problem?

Hello I would like to ask about this reel... On reels specs say 6 bearings but when I tried to find them on the schematic, I can indetified only 4! Two on the both sides of the covers on the mane rotation shaft, one on the chuckle and one more on the line roler... where are the two more bearing? Are they inside of the handle..?🤔

This was a Great Video. Two things I found confusing was how to properly attach rod to reel. The main question I have it was almost last item on video and that is free spool. I just purchchased a penn 114h2LW after receiving it I realized this was a return or something, I found out its common practice at this nation wide marine tackle retailer thats common practice. The protecters for the harness attach had no protecters they were at bottom of box and plastic bag just layed on top of reel. The reel seems ok but the spool with lever released is somewhat hard to get one revolution, i wasnt sure because it was display model someone might have tightened something so I moved the bearing cap to see what difference that might make, I watched another video and it was mentioned that thats not supposed to be used as a drag, he mentioned screwing it in and backing it off half turn. I did read that factory sets it at .05-.06 clearance, I dont know if its new and hasnt been used if thats why its has as much resistance for the spool only to spin a revolution or less. I bought this because I was watching ulua fisherman using this reel. Its not your everyday surf rod setup, but the spool resistance is bothering me. When it comes to this heavy duty equiptment Im a novice. I think my musky rod with abu garcia 5000 is what Im more familar with. Couldnt ask for a better rebuild or overhaul of this reel very thorough Video, the confusion I mentioned early was mine when I removed reel from box. I have a Shakespeare GX235 reel. I am new to fishing hoping to refresh my reel. I was following your GX230 guide until the bail holder part as I got overwhelmed nearly losing the plastic washer. Using some silicone spray and bearing oil as its what I have on hand. Thanks!

Have you come across a repair where the bail arm screw is stripped? The sleeve is plastic. I tried using epoxy for plastics without success. Any ideas how to best fix this?
