As a Chrysler tech, these new generation of trucks have a lot of electrical and wiring issues. The CP4 recall replaces the fuel pump with a CP3. We get plenty of these trucks through our dealership and during PDIs we perform at least 5 recalls before they’re even ready for sale. In my opinion Chrysler/stellantis have been dropping the ball on their products recently. With the price increases on all their products these trucks are not worth 6 figures when it’s all said and done. As far as capabilities the trucks are good.
I've always had Rams. My 2022 Limited Cummins had issues with the 12" screen, an antenna connection, the transmission. I have a 24' Duramax no with almost 10k on it. No issues so far, but I will say that I liked that Ram better, despite the problems. I'd probably go with the 6.4 Hemi if I get a 24' Ram HD next year.
I'd buy your truck in a heartbeat. I just can't afford it at this point unfortunately, but I've always found your truck stunning to look at and built pretty much exactly how I would spec it if given the choice.
It was common knowledge that the CP4 pump recall was replaced with CP3 pump. In which in MY21 Cummins went back to the CP3 after 2 year run on the CP4.
The 3/4 ton just isn't enough truck for a 5th wheel that heavy. You should have purchased the 3500. Way more payload, better brakes, suspension, frame, etc. Not really sure why Ford, GM and RAM even bother making 3/4 ton trucks anymore. When I priced a 2023 Ford F250 with the high capacity tow package vs. an F350, believe it or not, the F350 was $80 LESS and was a lot more truck. In the end, I bought a 2022 RAM 3500 Laramie CTD SRW before the price increases and interest rates went crazy and absolutely love it! It tows and hauls effortlessly.
His 2500 has the same brakes and same frame as your 3500. The differences are in the suspension setups and axles, although the 3/4 ton segment is further derated to hit 10k GVWR's for local compliance reasons. I live in BC, and 1-tons are exempt from luxury taxes that hit the 3/4 ton segment, so almost all HD's are 1-ton here, Ontario is different.
So after watching 15 minutes of a video that was supposed to be about why you’re so disappointed in your truck that you’re going to switch from Ram to Chevy, we find out that you only have one complaint. One. The rear coil springs make it ‘wish-washy’ when heavy-hauling. Most of us would go with an aftermarket solution in this instance as opposed to throwing our arms in the air and dropping to our knees in despair. Coilover shocks, airbags, swaybars, stiffer springs, all viable options which weren’t covered as options in your video. But hey, enjoy your Chevy…you’ve earned it.
Hello, Love your Channel, good job! I would like to comment on the rear coil spring suspension; in my opinion it's not the coil's fault that your top heavy load gets 'wish-washy'. This has more to do with how far inboard the coils are and the stiff antisway bars (both frt/rr). With a top-heavy load this setup will sway more than leaf springs that are mounted as far outboard as practicable (which is the case with most trucks). Or even mounted in the same spot, due to the inherent friction in the leaf springs, which coils do not have. I also own a 2019 Ram 2500 4x4 ccsb CTD, I have personally towed a trailer weighing more than twice what your trailer weighs, with about 3k on the gooseneck ball. There was no swaying of any kind, since the center of the weight is the center of the ball. I this case my truck rides smoother and handles better than my brother's 2022 GMC 2500 with leaf springs. To fix this 'problem', I think RAM should move the coils outboard as far as possible and optionally offer the rear sway bar for the 'camper special'... BTW, I love the rear suspension (don't tow fifth wheel trailers, only bumper-pull and gooseneck)
IMO ram has them there for a reason. I think it's in board at the perfect place to allow people that choose to haul loads towards the top end of the load range to add after market suspension parts. (Air bags, timbrens, sumosprings) that would be more effective further outboard.
Hands down still one of the best looking HD trucks out there. Has a 2012 and a 2016. Love the interior of the newer gen. Ram still has one of the best interiors both in the 1500s and the HDs. Just wish they would update the powertrain to compete with the fords and chevys. Not a huge fan on the 68rfe. Its old and outdated.
All in all sounds like a very good experience and there's not a better looking HD on the road than a Ram Night Edition. Wish they would finally get the half ton cab on the heavy duties!
Seems like Ram was more blatant about increasing their MSRP and keeping it high more than the other truck manufacturers. Chevy raised it quite a bit as well but there was a recent total redesign in there. That may work for Stellantis in the short term, and I'm sure they're still making plenty of money per vehicle compared to the old days but not sure that's going to work out for them in the long term. Personally, I was a Ram loyalist until the ridiculous price increases without any significant changes to the actual trucks. I do agree with you, Ram has the best interiors. Now driving a Ford.
Hello Truck Kings, I've been following your channel for quite a while and like your videos. I can see three facts why you're not happy with your setup. It all started with your new fifth wheel. That this rig is too heavy for your RAM 2500 is clear, but the Cross Wing hitch with its offset makes the drivability even worse. And on top of that, not having a RAM Air suspension or something similar makes the bad experience perfect. I hope your new Chevy will solve your problems.
LOL,,,,if you got rid of your Ram because of swaying at the rear you really screwed up because it’s due to the tires you installed. I have the same truck but two years older, with the 8’ bed and airbags. So when I wore out my stock tires I also installed the Toyo open county tires only to find out how bad they were when towing or driving hard empty through corners. These toyos squirm and wiggle when cornering. It feels like you hit some slick road surfac or your lug nuts are all loose. So I put the old tires back on since they were still 50% left and all the problems went away.
The issue with the rear end moving around is common on this generation of Ram. The best fix is a good heavy duty Thuren rear Track bar. It changes the angle of the track bar and anyone who ever put one on says it takes care of waggle in the rear of this generation of Ram. I know the truck is sold but just letting you know what would fix your issue.
For the record, I think it should be stated that RAM offers the option of factory installed auto-leveling rear air suspension on their HD lineup. I think that's a very important point to be made every single time someone's comparing the manufacturers. Only RAM offers that option... Which is actually ridiculous! All the HD's from all the brands should all come *_standard_* with it!
The weight of a diesel engine is obviously heavier taking away from your 10,000 GVWR (for 2500). Payload is whats remaining from this number. Coil springs for Ram 2500 'comfort ride'. 3500 is leafs and much higher GVWR.
Hopefully, you won't suffer the same downfalls as my neighbor's 2023 GMC One Ton Diesel 4x4. He told me again that he would go for the California Lemon Law if he had the same engine failures he had experienced in the last year of ownership.
Hey truck king. Ive enjoyed the channel for the past 3 years with that Ram (as i have a 19 Ram as well). Ill still be tuning in from time to time for other videos but when the Ram is gone ill have less to relate to. I will say I wish I could have talked you into trying out a suspension helper product. Something you see a good channel do after identifying a problem is how you can mitigate it. It would have been a cheap video to show you install a product of your choice and you likely would have GAINED A SPONSER and paid nothing. Ram left a perfect place between the wheel hub and the coil for a reason. You say you are upgrading for us the viewers, but solving a problem would have helped us more than watching stock trucks do stock things that they are rated for, with commentary. Your BEST video was when you ignored the payload sticker and used common sense. Anyways. Good luck with GM. I'll have to check out the video when you get it, and then a month or two later when you break down. Lol kidding!
Hey Howard! Steven was going to look into trying to find out if Ram is still building the Classic. and if it will retain the 5.7 hemi. Have you guys heard anything back from them yet?
1. I don’t get why you didn’t get the Mopar bed step? Works great and doesn’t require the tailgate to come down. 2. I have the same truck and 5th wheel hitch. I can do a 90 degree turn with my Arctic Wolf. I guess the biggest factor is the shape of your 5th wheel.

I had a dodge once. 2006 cummins. u joints rotted out at 50k. no grease zerks. cold air would come in from behind glove box. wife would be freezing with heater on high.
What trucks have grease zeros from the factory? I’d rather have them without. My 2018 2500HD has just under 150k on the original u-joints and they are still very smooth & tight.

That’s odd, we rarely if ever see electrical issues in our Ram group with tens of thousands of members…
I’ve owned lots of Rams with no issues, except for that 2022.
Love this channel. Being from MI, lots in common with you guys and the stuff you deal with in your rigs and work.
I'd buy your truck in a heartbeat. I just can't afford it at this point unfortunately, but I've always found your truck stunning to look at and built pretty much exactly how I would spec it if given the choice.

Those are some great windows on your fifth wheel. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Chevy does over the next couple of years.
If your Chevy experience is anything like mine was, you’re gonna regret it. A lot…..
Kudos. Finally a TH-camr that put actual miles on the truck.
He put KM, not miles. 😆

They replaced the CP4 with the old CP3s. Our diesel doesnt have enough Sulphur in it to lube the CP4.
Beautiful truck it is. And so is the new Silverado. Thank you Howard.
CP3 is what they went back to. More volume but less pressure is my understanding. Above all it is reliable.
Great truck Howard!!! You did a very thorough review on it... looking forward to the Chev 3500 Right on H!!
They also make replacement coils that can handle the weight better but won’t change ratings I get it.

My 1500 has the retractable step in the bumper, does the 2500 not have it?
Great presentation of advantages and disadvantages. I would choose Ford f 250 with power stroke engine, I don't like Cummins engines? Greetings
Beautiful truck. Remember that a 2500 with a diesel (no matter what brand) has bad payload. Go with the 3500 and it would come with leafs. 👍
No it's really just rams 2500 that has bad payload. Others use leaf springs.
That's simply not true. I recently purchased a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE trim package and it has 3400lbs. of payload.
With a diesel? I don’t think so because I have a 3500 GMC Duramax diesel HD and it has 3980 lbs payload. Yours is probably a gas 6.6L.
@@is6566 Wrong, it's a Duramax, it's an SLE so it's a lower trim level without the frills of a Denali, but the payload is like 3380lbs.

Unless you use Android Auto or Apple carplay the stock maps in these cars and trucks are horrible. Never trust them.
Only good thing is the traffic info
Who uses the stock maps really. I have never used them and never would.
Just add some air bags when towing your 14,000 lbs trailer…
Ram has air bags from the factory as well.
That doesn’t change your payload.
Hopefully, you won't suffer the same downfalls as my neighbor's 2023 GMC One Ton Diesel 4x4. He told me again that he would go for the California Lemon Law if he had the same engine failures he had experienced in the last year of ownership.

How much are the handles and can they deliver to the contiguous states?
Send a note to hey@truckking.ca for more info. And yes, we ship to the States.
Foegot to mention that, the Ram 2500 diesels, dont have enough payload! In your case, that solitude was way over your payload rating!
they have a 20percent capacity upgrade rear coil spring
Ram has a kick-step you can mount under your bumper that makes getting into the bed of the truck easy.
Truck King if you went GM you should have got the Sierra 3500, they look so much better imho.
I like Ram trucks but the shorter bed than Chevy and Ford plus the small fuel tank doesn't work for me.
Nice vidéo Truck King for mee Ram is the best But you New Chevy is awome
Hey Howard! Steven was going to look into trying to find out if Ram is still building the Classic.
and if it will retain the 5.7 hemi. Have you guys heard anything back from them yet?
Most likely no. They already moved the Warlock trim over to the current gen 1500. So ya, it’s a 99% chance they are retiring it.
Yeah they're not making the classic anymore it's gone just like the 5.7 hemi.
We can’t get a straight answer on Classic for 2024. That suggests to us that it is gone.
I don’t like the coils towing either.
How has the maintenance been for it? Price of ownership?
Oil and fuel filters - only twice since new. that cost $600 each time. ($350 if I had my son do it.)
