My Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel is a CHEATER! What Does that Mean for Ram Owners?

  • Cummins has been hit with a massive fine over cheating on emissions tests. The company admits no wrongdoing, but they will pay the $2.0 Billion fine that comes along with these allegations.
In this video we look at what Cummins did and how they are handling it. Most importantly, we discuss how this will affect owners.

    • @icare7151
      @icare7151 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

It’s a total bogus government scam:
The EPA /Government does not calculate total emissions per mpg per tank so when the fuel economy drops by 25% for example, one is putting 25% more emissions into the atmosphere.
Owners of VW diesel gate engines apparently reported that after their diesel emissions were brought into emission compliance, in their same real world driving allegedly lost more than 4 mpg per gallon, thus per tank after the modifications, actually resulted in more net pollution increases per tank!
And how does this help the environment?
High altitudes, payloads and/or towing applications potentially may have the greatest potential for negative impacts after the software etc updates.
If changing the software doesn’t negatively affect fuel economy and reliability, why did Cummins allegedly cheat in the first place or did they?
I would like to see the testing engineering methods and conditions California used to determine Cummins was cheating and what fuel pump was in the test vehicle(s) and for how long.

I was literally planning to buy a 2022 Ram 2500 w/ 6.7l Cummins THE DAY I heard about the EPA $1.7b thing. It was a great deal w/ 8k mi for 58k w/ an MSRP of $73k. I freaked because I would have been under manf warranty and I couldn't just piss on my warranty. Plus I live in California and I'd have to comply to keep it registered. So I went for great deal #2 and got an f150 FX4 3.5l that has 400 HP and 500 ft/lb and tows 13,900 lbs. Got it w/ 3k miles w/ 100k Ford warranty for 51k w/ MSRP of $64.5k. i'd have preferred the Cummins, but not if they were going to detune the life out of it. It's amazing how they keep force feeding EVs down our throats that burn through tires and result in battery graveyards if the don't spontaneously combust first. The minerals required for EVs dwarf any ICE vehicle. We need diesels to feed people but they don't care. Democrats have literally become anti-human in the facade of "saving the planet".

Fca did compensate me 3200$ per vehicle but still not worth it. I have a 2017 2500 crew cab with the 6.7 and I will not have this recall performed unless they can guarantee in writing horsepower’s and torque does not decrease and fuel efficiency stays somewhat the same. Also I think in my mind I wouldn’t settle for anything less than 5000$ so a good delete and tune could be done after the recall was performed

Next year Cummins will generate another $2 BILLION profits on those $28 BILLION revenues we just mentioned.

Your truck will use more DEF, will Regen more, and Dump More ERG into your engine after the recall. There have also been reports of reduced MPG and owners reporting a reduced power feel while towing their same trailers.
That means YOU will have to pay for EGR Cooler and Intake Cleanings at a service Center (FK the Dealer)
That EXTENDED WARRANTY is for a reason, you will wear out components faster. However, the extended warranty will be USELESS for trucks with more than 120,000 miles already!
    - It's a FULL Reflash including the transmission_ I read the FCA Stellantis bulletin this morning.
Of course nobody want to release specifics of what they will do to your truck, Nobody want to catch a Class Action Suit!
But, I suspect if FCA are the ones doing the reflash that causes the negative changes to your truck - they will have to OWN the Lawsuit.

In Toronto, even before the VW and Ram ecodiesel fiascos, diesel pickups that chuffed out any coal were pulled over and any alterations or missing emissions equipment was/is caught, and required to be put back to O.E.M with fines out the Yang Yang. Still happens today. Some areas in Canada, mostly rural, do not have emissions testing. Emissions equipment cuts engine life and makes the vehicle lose the power and performance you purchase them for, but still pollute.

Guys over at TFL are doing testing as we speak to figure out pre and post recall performance differences on their Ram 2500. I'm curious to see if there is any performance difference as well, although I wouldn't be surprised if it drives the exact same.
I'm pretty sure I heard that the fine was over NOx emissionsif I remember right so I'd bet their fix will just be injecting more DEF to lower emissions which shouldn't affect performance too much, but who knows. Like you said, at this point no one is saying what actually happened and what is polluting more so we've got no idea what the fix might be. Either way I'm somewhat invested as my parents own a '19 2500 my mom drives and they use to tow their RV.

Each time it went in for a service I had to sign a paper stating I wanted no modifications done in regard to VW's emission issues on their diesel's. So VW owner's were given a choice. Do the modifications, which made the car weak AF and fuel economy worse, or keep it as is. I stayed with the as is(well the car is tuned now) and received all compensation paid by VW. I work for a Ram Dealership in California. We have been doing the 67A emissions recall since November 30th. Before it was announced. So far the 67A recall only covers 2013-2018 Rams with the Cummins engine. We have had no reported loss of power, performance, fuel mileage or increased DEF usage since doing the 67A recall. Also in California you CANNOT register your vehicle until the recall is done. I believe there are 13 States that have adopted California emissions standards. But I don’t know if the are doing the requirement like California.

My 12 valve has ZERO emissions equipment. My truck makes 180 HP but probably puts out more emissions than 5 of these cheating trucks, lol. Not sure why It's a massive deal when my truck is completely legal EVERYWHERE, polluting massively as it goes. I'm not mad at Cummins. The EPA is going too far, raising costs and making repairs more expensive and more frequent.

And what are the odds that they would do the emissions update even if I demanded they not do it? I've got a '17 3500 HO. Non deleated because of emissions testing in my area. It was a small percentage of cars in the 3rd ranked Nox contributor: HD Trucks -> Off-road Construction-> Light Duty Vehicles. Granted, other metros are different. Realistically the VW thing didn’t do a damn thing to affect Nox levels in any measurable way. It did fund a comically unreliable charger network, so there’s that.

Cummins should buy back the trucks. Or pay the owners compensation. We bought these trucks with their 6.7 because of the current level of performance. If detuned, less fuel economy or worse longevity then buy it back. Wouldn’t have bought it if that was the case. Cummins guys don’t get upset (have been a Cummins owner since 1989) but the Ford is looking pretty good these days. Better transmission fuel economy and way more power!!!! Ram and Cummins really need to step it up. They are so far behind Ford now.

If truck performance is adversely affected, owners can open a class action suit against Cummings for compensation. That's how you as the owner will be able to address you being duped as a customer and being stuck with a vehicle that nobody will buy from you.
