    Great video once again. And your review of your truck is about the same as my review for my truck. I have a 3500 CCLB DRW and I love the long bed. And like you, I came from a '16 Ram 2500 CCSB CTD. And yes, if a truck has a consumable (DEF/Fuel), it needs to have a constantly displayed gauge!!! As for the exhaust brake, I think the 10 speed transmission has an effect on how aggressive the EB activates. Our Rams had the 6 speed, thus the EB had to work harder, but I also think the Ram has the best EB for heavy duty trucks. I love the LTZ package and it works for us so far. Thanks again for sharing.

    I have the 2020 2500 and I’m maxed out, the truck handles just fine. Last time i took it to a loves cat scale I was 350lbs over my payload when im full and packed towing a Montana. Perfectly comfortable driving with one finger cross country. I do wish I got the 3500 but tempted with the new aesthetics

      Going to be in a similar boat soon, I got the 2024 2500hd crewcab long bed ltz 4x4 with the 20 inch wheels and I am going to be upgrading from our travel trailer to a 5th wheel and will be a couple hundred pounds over payload, I hope there are no issues, I have been considering upgrading the rear suspension with a 3500hd leaf pack and 3500hd z71 shocks since I already have the z71 package on my truck but, I am not sure that will be enough or if I would have to basically get the 3500 ring gear and the frame has a small difference as we.

    Have a 1/2 ton LTZ now with the 3.0 Duramax, but really want to look at the 2500 LTZ (w/3500 frame package) for towing down the road. You are right, the price difference is pretty hefty for what you get by stepping up. The only difference is that I want the technology package and the sport package which color matches the chrome areas to the paint.

    Awesome review, I found your channel about a month ago while truck shopping. Just bought a 24' GMC 2500 Denali regular bed. Only towed my trailer about 15 miles and it was so much nicer that my last rig. My trailer is only about 8500# loaded but wanted to be able to pull a 5th wheel someday. I really liked you got your wife to drive it while towing. I may have to steal your line of "when the big heart attack happens".

    I had a Larime HD Ram for 6 years, Now i have a 24 LTZ HD. We drove 5000 miles pulling 8500 LBs. Got 11.5 MPG. The seats are firmer than the Ram but in the long run both my wife (110 LBs) and I (170 LBs) thought they had better support, we had no aches, and we could do more miles before wanting to stop and get out to stretch. The IFS is much better than the straight axles for on road manners. The ride is better and cab more quiet. I liked the Ram better for front visibility, overall size, and the interior. I don't miss the de-fueling shifting of the 68RFE. The GM just pulled the load better with the 10 speed. Overall The GM milage is a little better by about .5 to 1 MPG while pulling.

    Really good video. I just bought a 2024 Chevy Silverado LTZ 3500HD DRW Crew with the Duramax. Traded my 2020 LTZ SRW 2500HD Crew for many of the same reasons you cited about your Ram 2500. Agree with your comments on the Drivers Instrumentation (DEF and such). I'll also add I'm not a fan of my Ammeter disappearing and being replaced by a Trans Temp Gauge when in Tow Mode. I'd prefer all my gauges all the time. I also miss the rear door lock buttons and the small glove box above the main one I had on my 2500. Chevy also failed on the trim below the radio. The angle of the trim causes glare directly into the drivers eye. I'm sure my next comment is a religious topic, but regarding King Pin Weight and Truck Cargo Load Weight. You mentioned 15 - 17% of the 5th Wheels weight is on the hitch. Most people I know say 20 - 23%. But it actually depends on the design of your trailer or camper. Where the storage is, where the kitchen is, it is a tow hauler, etc. To be sure you should weigh your truck and camper on the scales. Then disconnect and reweigh the truck. Then do the math to find out what your King Pin Weight is on your truck. Not sure what your Camper GVWR is but a 35ft Solitude has the potential of being heavy and exceeding your Trucks Cargo Load even at 38xx lbs. I did the math on mine and its why I went with the DRW. I only had about 200lbs of Cargo Capacity remaining if I'd went with the 3500 SRW. That's a 3rd passenger added. Plus, honestly, I was over the Cargo Capacity of my 2500 so I needed more truck. Thumbs up on your videos and real world examples. Keep them coming!!

    I have 1300 miles on my ‘24 Duramax and I installed a Banks Idash for monitoring gears, DPF level and DEF levels. I swear the truck has used hardly any DEF fluid in those 1300 miles and regenned at about 400 and hasn’t done that since.

    You have a fine truck Howard! To me this also highlights reality of truck users vs what the truck companies send out to review teams. You bought very nice truck to do 'truck' work, vs the luxury people carriers with low payloads and tons of bling at huge markups. Truck makers get much bigger margins on those luxury truck shaped SUVs.

    Great review on an amazing truck. God I hope you never have to let the wife drive home under those circumstances, no heart attacks for you good man. I think you knew after the first truck what exactly would improve your towing experience. Long beds are always recommended for best towing experience as well as a 1 ton chassis and heavy duty leaf springs. If the length is an issue, you can always go old school and just get a single cab model I assume since the trailer has more then enough space and carrying capacity for gear. Finally, this is really not a Ram / Chevy comparison because you can buy a Ram 3500 single rear wheel with a diesel, long bed, and standard heavy duty leaf springs. Keep putting out the great content.

      I could be wrong about the newest Gm offerings but I know the theme has been with some of the Gm single cab pickups and am guessing the other brands as well, the room to move the seat further back or lean it back isn't there like it is on an extended or true crew cab pickup. I am a taller guy compared to some and I sat in a 2010 model Gm 3500 single cab the other day and I was shocked at how awful it was to try and fit myself into it, my head hit the roof so I had to move the seat ahead enough so that I could lean the seat back further back to allow my head to sort of clear the roof barely. I fit way better in a 1980s vintage chev single cab pickup with a bench seat !. I then sat in a GM crew cab ( this was at a Ritichie bros sales lot ) and it was so much better as I could move the seat base back and tilt the back like I needed. A smaller stature person doesn't necessarily realize the struggles a larger person has to fit into some of these vehicles and unfortunately some single cabs are tight on space and once one has that seat back there to throw your stuff, jackets, etc etc its very tough to go back to a single cab.

    I was wondering if you had the dealer or another shop apply any of the 3m paint protection film on any of the front structure or leading area of the hood etc, or got a quote from a shop to do X amount of items on your truck ?. I know some people think one just has to get the High Country or the Denali or for that matter end up with painted bumpers on a package with a lower trim. I just see it as a costly headache down the road when the paint chips on the bumpers and its not cheap to apply the film from what I hear. Those painted bumpers can't seem to handle anything and they are costly to repair or replace over a chrome bumper. One just has to look at a line up of vehicles that are some years old at a Ritchie bros auction and see what sad shape some of the painted bumpers are in over the "hohum" chrome bumper that ends up looking better for its age. I thought you did a great job in finding a middle ground for how you spec'd you're truck, and didn't go for a Denali Ultimate just because it has every bell and whistle on it including electric running boards that crap out in our salt/calcium chloride winter roads.

    Do you have to pay for a subscription for the navigation?

    • @jacobrobinson1260
      @jacobrobinson1260 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, the navigation is built in Google maps using your phone as the source! I have a 24' 2500hd ltz and use the navigation all the time!

    • @brockloy2210
      @brockloy2210 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jacobrobinson1260 yes I use it through my phone as well, I know truck itself has navigation but think you have to get some sort of subscription to use it

    • @jacobrobinson1260
      @jacobrobinson1260 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @brockloy2210 you are right, my bad, my wording was off, if you use the android auto or apple carplay you don't need to get a subscription, if you don't want to use your phone (for some reason) you can get the subscription for the true built in navigation

    I bought a Jeep as a daily driver. I can't drive even a shortbed HD around town, picking up kids, squeezing in parking lots. That being said, if and when I get a new HD truck, it'll be the longbed.

    Gm seats suck. Sold 21 Chevy 3500 LT with leather, hard seat because we needed a dually. 24 Denali,same hard seats but fortunately we saved the cushions from the 21. lol. My only complaint. Period. But come on Gm.
