Thank you so much for giving me an idea of what to do w cabbage I got for free at work. I work at a very well known 'organic', 'whole' grocery store and I received a head of cabbage for free at work tonight since it was on markdown, this looks delicious and I can't wait to try it
A great easy tasty recipe. My husband came home with several cabbages because “we enjoy cabbage & they were On Sal!). Do I was so glad to see this reciepe. I enjoy your videos & am always happy to use your recipes. They are easy, common sense & fun to make. I like the interaction with your husband. He’s a great cameraman & funny with his comments! Thanks for making cooking fun & so easy!
Was going to make cole slaw, but didn't realise was out of mayo, so going to do this instead with my cabbage. Also don't have onion or garlic powder, so will mince some fresh and spread over cabbage. Think I'll even roast the carrots along with the cabbage! It's going to be great! Thanks for this recipe at this exact point in time. I really enjoy your videos and especially watching your hands; I feel a warm and special joy because they remind me of my dear sweet Aunt's hands. She and my mom (her sister) are together in heaven.
You know it! Boiled cabbage is the WORST and it smells up your house! UGH! Thanks for the comment! Molly is looking forward to your "ghost treats" video. I think she wants to make them for the kids she nannys along with the Rice Krispie Pumpkins you made!
love this! and the next time I roast cabbage I'm going to do what a friend suggested- she said that just as it's getting done, have your grill ready and put those slices on the grill for a few minutes....bet it crisps them up even more..
I love cabbage when it is not mush. I wish I could get my husband to eat it! I buy a had and cook half and freeze half. What a great recipe! Simple and easy. YUM!!
I love roasted Brussels sprouts! My family does not but they will eat the cabbage. Except for Micah who is much picker than she will admit! LOL! Thanks for the comment.
This is what I'm making for dinner tonight, I've never made it before but was going to do it exactly like you did with the same season blend so how lucky am I that you uploaded a video on it today. I'm a cabbage lover too so I cant wait to taste it cooked this way and I'll be sure to have several lose pieces for the crispy brownness
It really was very delicious! Next time I am totally going to put this back in the oven and maybe even throw in a sliced onion! Thanks for the comment!
Ok. I said I was going to make this and I did. I got a gorgeous cabbage at the farmer's mkt on Sat. So beautiful. Last night I made this. I grilled some hot Italian turkey sausages and made some mashed potatoes. Oh my gosh!!!! What a delicious meal. I cannot believe how much flavor roasted cabbage has. I live alone so I almost ate 3/4 of a head of cabbage! I made it exactly like this... I can't wait to make it again! Noreen....you are the cook I aspire to be!
I too have always loved cabbage. It reminds me of my grandma Abell, her mother, my great-grandma Bohardt immigrated to the United States from Belgium. She was actually born in Holland and I remember her sweet Dutch accent! :) Cabbage was a mainstay in both homes, it brings me back to my childhood and eating at grandma Abell's house! I miss both sweet ladies so much.
I think this will be a perfect side with Christmas ham! Yum! Cabbage is LOVED by everyone in my family and I've never roasted it. I did grill it once and that was yummy. Thanks for the great idea! God Bless. ~Lisa
Iove frying cabbage, BUT I GOTTA SAY this changes it to a Super Easy way of cooking this . And Yes* I would cook more, lol . After watching you two enjoying the carmalized pieces , lol I want to enjoy more darker pieces too. THANKS so much for sharing, with my counter oven I can totally do this on the side , without my wall oven on holidays and EASY PEASEY AND EADY CLEAN UP. BRILLIANT***
Thank you for sharing a veggie side dish! I'm the only one who will eat this but it looks too delicious to pass. I think I'll hit mine with a few minutes under the broiler at the end for more brown edges. Thank you, Noreen!
Haha the craziest thing happened late last night, Noreen!!! I was watching Jon Townsend doing a Q&A and he read a comment that you made about his sweet Ivy and the strawberry tarts!!! I woke up w a craving for cabbage...no lie...and here you are!!!! This one looks SO good!!!!
I made mine with the air fryer--I put a round rack on top of the cabbage so there would be no way any cabbage could fly around due to the air. It was so good with all the crispy bits
Oh I love cabbage steaks! We follow your recipe except onion and garlic powder- which I am so going to do now!! I also roasted Lemons with mine then squeezed them on the cabbage before serving. Oh and your right! The dark browned leaves are the absolute best part! Kinda like a marshmallow.. sorry but you light that puppy on fire blow it out and oh boy it’s delish! 😂 love your video as usual! I would sub again if I could- but I’m a tried and true Noreen’s Kitchen fan- I hit that bell over a year ago! Thanks Noreen!

Thanks for the comment. My music is only changed for the fall season and then for the holiday season the original theme will return in January that is my signature music.
I'm normally not a fan of roasted vegetables - but I LOVE roasted cabbage! We also make creamed cabbage! Boil the cabbage (or sautee it - however you like it) and then either make a cream sauce (basic white sauce) or cheat and cover with cream of mushroom soup cut with either half & half or heavy cream.
Oh My! Noreen, this was a big hit with me but the rest of my family/friends were horrified at the very thought. Like you I grew up eating and loving cabbage and sauerkraut...in my case, an Austrian mother cooked it often but not sure she ever roasted it. Your recipe/video was spot on and the charred bits? to DIE for! Kudos and TY TY TY
~Noreen, this looks delicious! Thank you for the suggestion of breaking the cabbage up before putting them in the oven to get more crispy pieces! I may do half & half- I'm extending my husbands 'Thank yous' in advance, lol. He loves crispy-pieces anything! Also, I just picked up some of the World Market Olive Oil today, and, I always have a lot of cabbage on hand. I will make this over the weekend. It's just been too hot out here in San Diego to run the oven these past couple of days ':,( Blessing~ p.s. I make rice at least three time a week. Every time I pour the salt into the water I here you say, 'Rice and potatoes are best friends with salt.", and, when I'm stirring my rice into the boiling water: "make sure EVERYbody is in that water and oil party." Lol. Thank you for keeping me company in the kitchen while I'm cooking 🙂
Well thanks so much for the kind comments! I hope you and your husband enjoy the cabbage! Isn't that olive oil awesome? I think I have already blown through one whole bottle already!
Hi, Noreen! Love your channel. Been watching for a while now! Just have a tip for your viewers who don't have a great knife skills (or even if they do!) Cut a little bit of cabbage (either from one side or a little more off the bottom) to make the cabbage flat (at least a bigger area of flatness, as I never find the core side very stable.) It will give the thing more stability, making it easier and more safe to cut. (In any circumstances.)
Hi Noreen, just wanted to tell you that last night I made your cauliflower Augratin to go with our home made fried chicken, mashed potatoes n gravy and OMG...tho it was delish...I think we all must have gotten cauliflower gas...lol Whoa...couldn't wait to get up today to open n air out the house..lol Just thought I'd share that little bit of info with ya.. Take care n be safe. Gloria
Glad to hear you liked the recipe. We did not suffer from the digestive malady you referred to and frankly could have done without that over share. Thanks for the comment. : )
You could also do your potatoes, carrots & cabbage cooked in layers (like potatoes & take longer, so cook them til almost done, then add your cabbage, so their flavors marry & develope).
Give me bad heart 🔥, like up for hours after eating, I actually like cabbage, but I'm not sure if it's GMO process item I bought, but I'm trying this again with red cabbage :)

You could also do your potatoes, carrots & cabbage cooked in layers (like potatoes & take longer, so cook them til almost done, then add your cabbage, so their flavors marry & develope).
Thanks for the comment!
I make cabbage like this. The only difference is that I sprinkle fennel seed over the top and then roast it. It's fantastic (if you like fennel seed).
Love cabbage. I have got to do this. Hubby will eat cole slaw but not this. He's absolutely a nightmare to cook for.
That would make me sad. Rick will eat just about anything! I suppose I am lucky! Thanks for the comment.
Give me bad heart 🔥, like up for hours after eating, I actually like cabbage, but I'm not sure if it's GMO process item I bought, but I'm trying this again with red cabbage :)
I am a Cabbage lover, I am going to roast it next time.... thank you Noreen =)
I think you will really love it! Thank you for the comment!
