Hi Robbie, I paused for a short time in watching you latest vlog on self esteem and then it disappeared! I wanted to tell you how helpful I was finding it. I’ve suffered from low self esteem all my life. Please reconsider pulling it, or at least edit it. I think you said all you needed to in the first half. Incredibly helpful. I wanted to copy the link to my sons.
I really enjoyed this. I live in Frodsham and worked at the ICI plant you passed. The Danny is an amazing boat, such a wonderful story of its restoration. So nice to see the engine room!
Hi mate. I've seen that you've changed a recent video to private, I was about a third of the way through when the page reloaded so I wasn't able to watch the rest. But I just wanted to say you are a proper sound bloke, and I was able to relate to a lot of what you were saying. cheers, all the best.
I’m so sorry about that had to be done unfortunately as was not thinking of impact on others close to me. Cheers for watching and supporting means a lot 👍
Don't sell yourself short Robbie! Sure Foxes did a tour while it was moving and delved a little more into the history, but they didn't show the engine room and the chaps that make it move!
Robbie, you are the greatest. Of all the narrowboat vloggers I watch, yours are by far the best and most truthful. Get yourself a border collie, go and see Barbara Sykes at FOSTBC near Bingley. A border collie will give you 10 times what you give it and the rest. I’m in Halifax, if you’re within 20 miles or so, me and Jess will call in for a brew (just a biscuit for Jess). Chin up mate. Jim
We owe a huge debt of thanks to the volunteers and activists who give up so much time, energy, passion and even money to restore.reclaim/maintain/share our amazing heritage. THANK YOU ALL/ Thanks Robbie for sharing the limelight with these gents. That tug is amazingly restored!
Robbie, regarding the cost of taking your boat on Manchester Ship Canal (MSC)it depends how you look at it. You seem to think that Peel Ports are ripping you off but analyse those charges and see if you feel differently. Firstly the seaworthiness check was £60 not £100 like you said, and we had no travelling costs because we met our surveyor on the Weaver visitor moorings near where he’s based. Transit of the 36 miles was £178 plus £30 to lock up to the Bridgewater Canal. Total cost £268. Marsh Lock where you moored is free (CRT lock). None of the MSC locks are manned and each requires 2 operators who have to travel to & from them especially for you. If you therefore say 1 hour of their time for each lock including their travelling, x 2 operators, equals 10 man hours which works out at £26.80 per hour. Where else can you get labour rates these days for that price? Is the trip worth it? There’s a lot of monotony during the 7-8 hour journey and not a lot to see, but there are some quite sizeable ships, particularly at the Runcorn end, some moored up and some on the move (you see more of them if you go onto the Ship Canal at Ellesmere Port rather than Marsh Lock). It's a lot of money but despite the monotony I thought it was worth it just for the experience of it all, something different.
This is another of my favorite vlogs..loves the collecting of drift wood ( but hated all the thrown around garbage and wanted to put it all in big garbage bags and take to til your music, cranking it....excellent...........
Thanks for the shout out Robbie 👍 is that the Guinness I bought ya? lol There was a four-pack of bottles Foreign Extra I think it said and aim nearly bought you those Peel seem to be a tad gutsy greedy buggers don't they?! Doesn't seem a very appealing option of doing the Ship Canal. So good to see you're OK my friend, stay safe ♥️

I'm always looking at that bit of canal from the motorway! Currently got covid but will have to go and have an explore as it always looks so inviting! Hope you're keeping well Robbie! Looking forward to the next upload!

What an amazing video? Been introduced to you by Chris Cole from a Travellers Notebook Group on Facebook and our love of Canals. I have just watched Canal Boat Dairies on BBC iPlayer and I live in Stourbridge and we have a canal which connects the branch route to either Kidderminster or Dudley. Our Canal has a dry dock as it played a historic past in creating and developing the Stourbridge Lion (1st Steam Locomotive) . Keep up the good work.
You're doing a great job of fixing yourself Robbie. People who research and look for ways of dealing with their issues are less likely to lapse back into habitual behaviours and patterns of thinking. Some therapists and doctors have been known to prescribe library books to encourage people to help themselves rather than relying on medications (prescribed or otherwise). The drink is a distraction Robbie, a means of avoiding things by numbing the mind, procrastination again, procrastination is anxiety, fear of what might happen if you do or don't complete a task so we put it off by worrying too much. The solution to a problem is often found in the problem, completing the tasks we put off solves the problem and boosts self esteem, it's an "esteemable act" (my word for it 🙂). We do the same thing psychologically, we put off dealing with issues but they don't get solved when we do that which is why the video you just uploaded is such a valuable video. Putting things off possibly ties in with low self esteem but it's not always good to label yourself as we all compare ourselves to others, in psychology it's called social comparison but you can find it in religions and philosophy also. It's not good to make ourselves or others feel inferior or superior but we do tend to compare ourselves in relation to others. So we have the meek and mild agreeable people on one end of the scale and the pushy arrogant twats on the other end, somewhere in the middle maybe? Being too agreeable leads to feelings of low self worth and depression. It's a cumulative thing, when we allow others to assert themselves over us we come away feeling like we've been pushed aside or stepped on, it can leave us feeling quite resentful and the outcome usually leads to anger and feelings of depression for allowing others to affect our lives negatively. Drinking excessively is self harm Robbie, there's no easy way to say it, you're turning your resentment inwards when you drink. I do it with biscuits, I have a shit day then I demolish all the biscuits, then I get a headache, then I get fat, the I need another filling in my teeth all because I let someone treat me poorly or I'm beating myself up about another minor defeat in life. Perfectionism is an oxymoron, when a perfectionist scores 99.9% they see it as a failure because its not perfect. Better to be an optimalist, pat yourself on the back when you do well, why? because you did a bloody good job and you gave it your best shot 🙂 WhatsApp support group, excellent idea but watch out for burn out, even counsellors need supervision/counselling from other counsellors. Enjoyed this one Robbie and I appreciate your candor in regard to sacrificing your privacy when you offer your life up on TH-cam. I know so many people are grateful for the content you and other Narrowboaters publish each week, it allows us all to at least, vicariously live our Narrowboat adventures. I'd be joining you right now in England on a hire boat if I could, but sadly, I'm not willing to pay the price of an experimental vaccine injected into me, so those plans are on hold. I'm looking forward to the next one, and wishing you all the very best from Avondale, Arizona.
Hello Robbie, David here from Georgia! Love your vids. I think you are a "very cool and righteous dude". I appreciate the fact that you have a life outside of TH-cam vlogging but we all do miss you. Anyway, wishing you good health and continued success with the BBC series.
So often your videos seem to appear at great timing for me! Been feeling bit low with having covid and on day 7 of isolation!! So thanks for bringing smile to my face Robbie 🥰 x
Robbie, when I don’t see a video from you I get really worried that you’re ok. (I watch too many Brit cop shows). But here’s a new video and I’m glad you are ok. Love your videos and although we’ve never met I consider you a friend. If we met I’m sure we would be. I’m not a beer drinker though so don’t hold that against me. Wishing you well! Don’t worry! I won’t peek into your boat.
If you ever get the privilege to meet him, please do so because he is such a humble gentlemen! Great giggle too! We were in a pub to watch the football game and a girl comes round with a board to guess what minute the 1st goal will be scored, so me being useless and never carrying any cash (always use card) Robbie here gives me a quid to guess a number. Producer Stu puts his on 12 and I go on 11. Goal is scored in the 11th minute, the girl comes back and says "you're both sharing it" and me being a footie coach said "it was scored in the 11th not 12th lol" and then it was decided I won and then I felt guilty and so it was decided we split it 3 ways. Because without Rob giving me the 1 pound it wouldn't have happened, without me guessing 11 it wouldn't have happened, and without Producer Stu none of us would be there in that moment!! 🤣
Another brilliant video, thanks. So pleased you are ok, a long gap between updates....been getting worried about you fella. Stay safe and keep up the excellent work Robbie. PS: Just back from a weeks hire of a narrow boat on the Oxford. Great fun on the very shallow twisty bits!
Hi robbie great vlog keep up the good work just like to say your videos are just has good has the foxes probably better looking forward to the new series have a great day
Good to see a crap day out along with the good ones, its what makes your vlog more real. "Draft" Guinness from a can is better than that the stuff you had, it's more like the keg stuff.
So glad to see you again! Have missed you and have really enjoyed all yr vids and Choons.. my husband and I have been toe tapping away cant wait till Choons 3.. yr new series on Tv and the next vid..thanks for all your efforts and keeping life real its great we love it!! Ps must admit if I saw you going down the canal I would probably be embarrsingly excited😅.
Another good one Robbie. Continue to appreciate, enjoy and love your videos. So good to see the pubs are back for us all to enjoy 😃🍻. Joan I hope someone from ICI or Eddie Stobbart, or whoever owns that land will get a gang down there to collect all that PLASTIC. I’d certainly help!!!
@@matthewoliver6655 instead of beach combing when you go along and find all sorts along the beech its the same along rivers etc.. amazing what you can find along the tide edge.
Hi Robbie. When I was somewhat younger (ha ha) I remember the locks going down the hill from the Bridgewater Canal at Runcorn to the Weaver Navigation. They were still in water then. Great shame they were filled-in. Seems kids couldn't stay away from them and too many accidents. Hopefully they can be restored as they would make an excellent circular tour using the Anderton Boat Lift. Keep well, stay safe. Bobby D.
Thank you Robbie, great video....if I ever see you on the canal, I will try and stop myself jumping up and down and waving! I will just leave some beers for you to find to say thank you 🙂
Having seen the effect hawthorne flowers apparently can have on people, I probably should be careful when using my freshly made hawthorne glycerite xD Great to see you, I especially loved the time lapse of getting ready to crank it. Kurbeln Sie!
Great to have another vlog from you on TH-cam. I've been enjoying CBD in the meantime (it's a legal high don't you know). I hope Auntie commissions another series.
Hi Robbie there is a campaign to restore the Weston & Runcorn Canal just as there is for the Bridgewater canal that ends in Runcorn and they want to reopen it by moving some of it from its original course as there are buildings and paths over the old canal, but the locks are still visible at the end of the canal in Runcorn, as this section leads down to the MSC which in turn leads to the weaver and the Weston & Runcorn canal
The 'Homeless-Hobo/Old Boatman' look you're cultivating makes you look more like My Old Dad with every video you upload ........ We lived near the River TOO! ...... And with a name like Ours - Can you imagine ??
As someone originally from Merseyside, I've always considered that area near Runcorn to be a Bladerunner-esque dystopian no man's land. Industrial, polluted and ugly. However, you made it look really interesting. And what is with so many popular TH-cam narrowboaters gathering in the same location? Surreal in a way.
Glad to see you back on You Tube. I assume you are doing more work for the BBC? I’ll have to wait till I can stream it in the US. Take care of yourself and be safe. We, your fans, should get together and deliver a case of your favorite beverage!
Loved the vlog Robbie 👍...I work in the ineos plant there and love the river Weaver ...let me know when your down Ellesmere way and I'll drop you some beers off 👍👍🍺🍺
great vlog Robbie. Loved the quick tour of the Daniel. Yes Guinness is best drunk from draught but if it comes down to bottle or can then I will stick with the can. Bottle is to gassy for my liking. Keep safe Pal...
I understand what you mean by privacy is currency...too bad I will never get to meet you...a genuine gentleman with just a little quirk..lol...take it easy and keep on cranking...
High Robbie, love your Vlogs, sorry you didn’t make the Lanky, we did it for you. We are now heading for Skipton and moored at Eanham Wharf, in the Calypso Bar , they remember you well unfortunately the cockatoo as passed on . Keep on Cranking. Neil Gina, Walking on Water X
Saw your last vid... (that's gone now) hope your doing OK! And if ya ever make it too york and fancy a brew hit us up I'm sure ya can tie alongside 😊👍🏼take care fella
That looked like a lonely stretch of canal you were on and moored up at. Guinness on tap is always good but the new canned Guinness vs prior canning method is much better. I am also a big fan of Guinness Blonde which goes down well on hot days and does not have a bitter after taste of an IPA.

Having seen the effect hawthorne flowers apparently can have on people, I probably should be careful when using my freshly made hawthorne glycerite xD Great to see you, I especially loved the time lapse of getting ready to crank it. Kurbeln Sie!
Yes Caro be careful it’s potent stuff! Kurbeln sie 😂🤘
Good shout out for Cruising the cut 👍
Cheers bud, speckled hen for me dood. X
Great to have another vlog from you on TH-cam. I've been enjoying CBD in the meantime (it's a legal high don't you know). I hope Auntie commissions another series.
They already have. :-)
@@TheBowelsOfLove They've made a good decision in that case. I just hope they get it scheduled quickly.
Hmmm quickly you say 🤔 We’re three months behind on filming due to covid so who knows, but I’m just glad it’s wanted!
@@RobbieCumming It's very wanted. I work for the opposition but recognise the perfect fit you have with BBC TV audiences One, Two and Four.
Thanks Matthew I appreciate that!
Hi Robbie. I really enjoyed Canal Boat Diaries season 2. Caught up with them a bit late. Good luck for the next part of your life, whatever it is.
Nice to see you back on TH-cam. Interesting steam boat.🙂
Something rather beautiful about the isolated lock among the industrial lagoons.
Agreed couldn’t not stop to have a look around
@@RobbieCumming Pity, you had the wood to keep warm but maybe not the time to 'stand and stare.' By the way, your videos are a treasure of creativity.
Yes that’s about right! Thank you very much
Well Karma sails on the channel as well Robbie. Keep being you my dear.
Another great vlog from you Robbie
Hi Robbie there is a campaign to restore the Weston & Runcorn Canal just as there is for the Bridgewater canal that ends in Runcorn and they want to reopen it by moving some of it from its original course as there are buildings and paths over the old canal, but the locks are still visible at the end of the canal in Runcorn, as this section leads down to the MSC which in turn leads to the weaver and the Weston & Runcorn canal
Awesome vlog, thanks Robbie😉👍
Hello Robbie,
Good to see you.... I like Guinness from all sources... See you on the next one...
Take care.
Paul,,
The 'Homeless-Hobo/Old Boatman' look you're cultivating makes you look more like My Old Dad with every video you upload ........ We lived near the River TOO! ...... And with a name like Ours - Can you imagine ??
Ha yep! Cheers Pete!
Great video Robbie as always
As someone originally from Merseyside, I've always considered that area near Runcorn to be a Bladerunner-esque dystopian no man's land. Industrial, polluted and ugly. However, you made it look really interesting. And what is with so many popular TH-cam narrowboaters gathering in the same location? Surreal in a way.
Just gotta love Peel Holdings, bunch of highwaymen if you ask me.
Glad to see you back on You Tube. I assume you are doing more work for the BBC? I’ll have to wait till I can stream it in the US. Take care of yourself and be safe. We, your fans, should get together and deliver a case of your favorite beverage!
Superb 👍🏼🥰
It blows my mind that people can OWN the water. 🇨🇦 72 yr Manitoba Yorkshire expat " Guinness " rules
Keep safe
Pal...
Love the dance at the end.
Good as always 👍👍👍👍
I understand what you mean by privacy is currency...too bad I will never get to meet you...a genuine gentleman with just a little quirk..lol...take it easy and keep on cranking...
Thanks Marjorie was lovely to have you onboard
Oooooooooh can we have a look at your Fender P bass please??? 🙌
I see Wilson finally made it ashore :-)
Guiness is better at he brewery in Dublin. It takes a looooong time to pour but tastes wonderful.
top marks
That looked like a lonely stretch of canal you were on and moored up at. Guinness on tap is always good but the new canned Guinness vs prior canning method is much better. I am also a big fan of Guinness Blonde which goes down well on hot days and does not have a bitter after taste of an IPA.
Interesting video. Thanks
Hi Robbie will there b a series 3 canal diaries great vids as usual Colin
Hi Colin yes we are filming it at the moment 👍
