Derrick’s best friend... younger brother passed away. He was also one of Derrick’s trainers(Lang) Long Live Lang on his sleeve. He passed either that day or the day before. So he was also dealing with that. Some of that emotion hearing about his teammate definitely was a mixture of his friend 🙏🏾 He’s as humble as they come man. Being from Chicago I truly look up to Derrick!

DRose is probably one of the best humans in the NBA. He clearly has a very deep empathy for other players and a genuine love and respect for his fans. I love what he has done with his career post injury. He is the shining example of veteran leadership and positive influence in the league.

I get choked up myself thinking about D.Rose on the Bulls. He wanted to win that 7th championship for Chicago so badly. He was a phenomenal player to watch in those early years. And Mitchell relies on his as well. Fractured foot isn't good. Hear it from my end. I had my scholarship aborted from that injury.

My sports days have been long gone but I always truly feel horrible for athletes when things like this occur. I had one major knee surgery (torn patellar tendon) and I can't even imagine not only coming back from THREE surgeries, but coming back from them AND still being able to play a sport at a professional level. Just one injury alone takes huge a mental toll on you. To continually come back from those goes to show you how much heart D-Rose has and what type of person he is.
He really might be one of the biggest "what ifs?" in sports and its a shame. I've always been a huge fan and I'm happy to have him back on my Knicks. Really cool to see how this team has been bonding all season and I hope Mitchell comes back strong.

I’m so glad D Rose got another chance to be a Knick. His first tour was coming off that heart breaking trade from Chicago and even through it he still lit up the Garden many nights, but you could tell he was effected by it.
