D rose played against my HS for the championship in Chicago at the Allstate arena. (Simion -vs- Washington) both Hood schools When I seen him do windmill dunk and then get a steal and do a windmill dunk back to back. It was crazy!!! he gave many people hope from the hood.
As someone who lives in "Chicago" Burbs I started watching basketball again because of Noah/Derricks/Thibs team. These guys had so much heart and promise. But it was painful to watch Derrick get hurt again and again. Thibs running dudes for 47 minutes a game, Taj, Noah, and then Butler later. Then seeing them get to the playoff through pure effort and passion and by the end looking tired and defeated. Not easy. I think Noah makes a good point, going from the top to a steep fall. It was all over so quickly and just like life, most of the time you don't get second chances. As far as Derrick, I personally went from thinking he was soft to having the deepest respect for him never giving up and doing everything he could to change his game and play. Even if it was less money, time etc. Hats off to all of them, best wishes.
42yr old Australian and Drose is talked about every week in my house. We have signed Jerseys, shoes, ball etc in the Collection. We have followed him all the way and will continue to all the way to the end. Humble shy dude who I feel is a mirror image to my own personality. Australia loves Drose.
I was only 6 when Jordan won his 6th championship. I'm from Chicago and to see a Chicago native leading the team was special. My Noah jersey is my favorite jersey I own and the Rose/Noah era was my favorite era of my favorite team.
It was May 9th, 2015. I was always a hooper but never got around to actually watching the nba cause I was taught that they don’t play real basketball and that it was basically globetrotter basketball. But that day I decided I would watch my first ever nba game. It was the Bulls vs the Cavs game 3 of the series and I watched magic. D Rose made me fall in love with the nba and forever he will be my favorite player. Wish I could of watched him live in his prime
Being from Chicago, life long Bulls fan who also grew up during the Bulls dynasty.... Watching Derrick play from Simeon all the way to the last day he had a Bulls jersey on was a dream come true. From '09-2012 specifically, he had the city in the palm of his hand, but was so humble about it. He really was a symbol of hope in Chicago during a very dark time and the oncoming days ahead of it.
That first knee injury was absolutely heartbreaking. As a Chicago fan and born and raised resident of the city, the city knew that we had found our new MJ. Especially after that MVP season. But the people of Chicago fell in the love with the guy based upon the person and not just his incredible talent and abilities. But after that second injury, the fans of Chicago and the league as a whole knew he’d never fully recover. It’s amazing that he’s been able to sustain a long-standing NBA career having battled thru those injuries. But the league was robbed of what could have been one of the best at his position had he not endured those injuries. Not to mention the dynasty that could have been created, championships, etc.
watching D rose grew my love for basketball. I got every single shoe, shot hoops every single night. had me having nba dreams lmao. he had so many iconic moments in a short time. The dunk over Goran, alley oop vs the pistons, reverse dunk at the garden, buzzer beater against houston, dunk through wade/bron, christmas day game winner, etc etc.
D Rose is the biggest what if in NBA history, especially being on the Bulls and making them good for the 1st time since MJ. You know he would have gotten a ring if he didn't get hurt
A lot of younger NBA fans just won't realize the impact prime D-Rose had on the NBA. He was an absolute monster. He would eviscerate defenses night in and night out and had the most incredible layup package of probably the past decade. It was just insane watching him play back when he was in Chicago. To think what he could've done with just a few more years without injury. Players really start hitting their stride (skills + athleticism) when they hit 25-28 and that's exactly when D-Rose got injured
The playoff performance against Boston was actually his rookie year , makes it even wilder. Game winning blocks and all 4 overtime games in the series from an 8 seed against number 1, with a 3OT game in there

Please film an interview with "The D Rose". Would absolutely love it. This guy was such a star and there is only little bit about himself out there which actually is a shock.
Since Jo couldn't say, I'll give my most devastating Rose plays (this is not in order): 1. The block on Rondo in '08 R1 2. The alley-oop dunk on the Pistons 3. The fast break poster on Dragic 4. The game winner on the Bucks in '12 5. The game winner on the Heat in '15 R2
Always will love D Rose, definition of a baller. Gotta give love to Joakim too, dude played with 150% every game....even when he was at the point in his career where he couldn't do it consistently he still balled out. Salute.
I’d like to share moment I knew Derek was special “does anyone remember the skills challenge his rookie year? Derek won the challenge but he finished it with a windmill dunk that made me jump out of my couch and say he is the next big thing. Derek Rose 🌹 is and wil always be my favorite PG
When I saw Rose being the only one not dancing at the allstar game with the rest of the allstars while they were being introduced.. that’s the moment I knew how humble/shy he was.
You guys need to get Derrick Rose in here. My favorite player since he was in Chicago and now he plays for my city NEW YORK. He's pass his prime but still it's truly a dream come true man.
Derrick Rose grew up in one of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago. Chicago gets a bad rap nowadays nationally. So It not hard to root for a guy like this to make it and hope he succeeds
D Rose is the one who got me into basketball, he exudes everything I want to be as a person, he was magical. I've watched hundreds of games after that, present and past, but he'll always remain my favourite player ever. Still support any team he's on and he's probably the only "celebrity" I would cry in front of if I ever met him.
Joe saying the mvp is a gift and curse is by far the truest thing ever. I remember reading about that somewhere someone said the same thing about the mvp award being a curse and gift. Derrick rose gave his mvp award to his mother he didn’t keep it instead he gave it to his mom. Rose didn’t care about no mvp award he didn’t play for a mvp award he was playing for his family and the city of Chicago he wanted to bring a championship so badly here. Derrick rose is the peoples champ
been a heat fan since 2000, Derrick rose had me scared forreal, i think one more solid player on the bulls would have put them over the top against the big 3
I’m not from Chicago but being from Gary Indiana ima bulls fan but it’s like he lived everybody’s dream getting to play for your favorite team and living up to the hype and exceeded expectations while staying true to himself. Gave hope and joy to just more than basketball with memories made with exciting games and moments with family that’s no longer here.
Derrick Rose is also shy due to hearing about a local hero, Benji, being murdered by another teen for being too cocky or whatever. Plus being cocky on the southside isn't a good look especially after the 1990s, making you an easy target.
As a Miami Heat fan, I just wanted to see Derrick recover and being back to being that amazing player who took your breath away with what he could do. That Bulls team was super scary, and it seemed like they had a bunch of bullies, but were led by this super cool and talented dude. I guess I don't know why I like D Rose, what made him different than any other superstar player, but he was amazing to watch and I just wanted to see him do well after his injury.

Drose not only my favorite basketball player of all time but my favorite athlete of all time he is the reason basketball is my favorite he is reason bulls are my favorite team and the fact he is from my city means the world to me growing up in north side Chicago in late 2000s early 2010s you would think kids wanted to be like Mike but we wanted to be like Derrick 🤝 Chicago legend there will never be another Drose I hope he comes back home to us to finish his career we would sell out the United Center every game the bulls should have never traded him to New York
D rose played against my HS for the championship in Chicago at the Allstate arena. (Simion -vs- Washington) both Hood schools
When I seen him do windmill dunk and then get a steal and do a windmill dunk back to back. It was crazy!!! he gave many people hope from the hood.
He was a beast and a honestly great person. That video of him getting the news of his trade was so sad!
this is so good. would love to hear d rose on a pod one time
He's on Math Hoffa's podcast.
@@togzus Link?
@@fupalover literally type d rose math hoffa
Yall not in the culture 😂
He was the sign of hope. I am 10 years older than him and he inspires me in life. That my friends is what you call powerful.
Goat has spoken
Chicago will forever love Derek Rose 🌹
I'm glad Noah mentioned most point guards during that time did not want to see Derrick Rose
Right, i remember i used to get concern about mia facing d.rose and the bulls i knew they had a legitimate chance of beating the heat
LIKE DAMN NEAR NOBODY WANTED THE SMOKE WITH D ROSE!!!!!!!
42yr old Australian and Drose is talked about every week in my house. We have signed Jerseys, shoes, ball etc in the Collection. We have followed him all the way and will continue to all the way to the end. Humble shy dude who I feel is a mirror image to my own personality. Australia loves Drose.
W
Those Drose years in Chicago was special to the city.
This is such a dope interview. Joakim understands the fans
watching D rose grew my love for basketball. I got every single shoe, shot hoops every single night. had me having nba dreams lmao. he had so many iconic moments in a short time. The dunk over Goran, alley oop vs the pistons, reverse dunk at the garden, buzzer beater against houston, dunk through wade/bron, christmas day game winner, etc etc.
lay up through wade/bron :) can you imagine he dunked on both of them?!
On nba 2k12 he was a beast
Noah just seems like such a genuine and authentic dude
The playoff performance against Boston was actually his rookie year , makes it even wilder. Game winning blocks and all
4 overtime games in the series from an 8 seed against number 1, with a 3OT game in there
Love The Heart And Passion That Noah Has.D Rose Too.They Were Alway's A Thorn In The Heat's Side.I Loved The Fact That They Never Backed Down..From Anyone. We Were So Close To Besting Them.D Rose Will Alway's Be My M.V.P.Love Noah Too.
Please film an interview with "The D Rose". Would absolutely love it. This guy was such a star and there is only little bit about himself out there which actually is a shock.
Jo was always a solid dude man. Still remember that game 7 against the Nets where he went off.
Since Jo couldn't say, I'll give my most devastating Rose plays (this is not in order):
1. The block on Rondo in '08 R1
2. The alley-oop dunk on the Pistons
3. The fast break poster on Dragic
4. The game winner on the Bucks in '12
5. The game winner on the Heat in '15 R2
I skipped work to watch the game live, I was so lucky. I've never loved basketball as much as I did at that moment.
It wasn’t a windmill dunk it was a reverse double pump dunk.
@@Mr.PR2000 who is Derek rose
@@bigdawg5150 Lol
@@bigdawg5150 I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t realized he butchered his name.
When I saw Rose being the only one not dancing at the allstar game with the rest of the allstars while they were being introduced.. that’s the moment I knew how humble/shy he was.
Noah is a fantastic storyteller
He lit the fire back into Chicago that was missing since Jordan was there. Love D Rose! --Kings Fan
You guys need to get Derrick Rose in here. My favorite player since he was in Chicago and now he plays for my city NEW YORK. He's pass his prime but still it's truly a dream come true man.
all those derrick rose commercials back then would give me chills.
Facts
“Painfully shy” 😭 I love d rose mane
Derrick Rose grew up in one of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago. Chicago gets a bad rap nowadays nationally. So It not hard to root for a guy like this to make it and hope he succeeds
D Rose is the one who got me into basketball, he exudes everything I want to be as a person, he was magical. I've watched hundreds of games after that, present and past, but he'll always remain my favourite player ever. Still support any team he's on and he's probably the only "celebrity" I would cry in front of if I ever met him.
In Chicago he's number one because we know if he doesn't get injured he's at least getting us 1 idc who says different
Drose and Joakim Noah meant so much to me as a kid still mean a lot. I’m 21 so I didn’t grow up with MJ. Them and Kobe are why i love basketball.
Goran Dragic is one of the greatest European players ever but he never gets his flowers.
True tho
The Chitown Assassin!!!!!! Hes one of our own hel always be beloved here
Joe saying the mvp is a gift and curse is by far the truest thing ever.
That guy is loved by all
*D. Rose a Living Chicago legend* 🖤
At the top of his game hands down one of the best ever!! 🌹
“What are you doing Dragic? Did you NOT get the memo?? Derrick Rose can go upstairs!”
Man I love D.Rose! Kobe got me into basketball but Rose made me fall in love w the game. Forever a legend 🤞🏽
Imagine people, in any situation in life, talking about you the way Joakim Noah speaks about his teammate Derrick Rose
👏
Derrick was a gem in that MVP season.
been a heat fan since 2000, Derrick rose had me scared forreal, i think one more solid player on the bulls would have put them over the top against the big 3
D. Rose was the total package. Dude was straight dynamite. The world loves when a guy's got that dawg in em. Rose had that dawg in him.
Correction that Boston series wasn’t his second year in the league it was his rookie year
I’m not from Chicago but being from Gary Indiana ima bulls fan but it’s like he lived everybody’s dream getting to play for your favorite team and living up to the hype and exceeded expectations while staying true to himself. Gave hope and joy to just more than basketball with memories made with exciting games and moments with family that’s no longer here.
Derrick is my favorite bull ever.
Will always love that Bulls Squad; Captain Kirk, DRose, BG, loul and joakim. Made me love the game
Derrick Rose is loved by so many people. That man is a legend
Too Big, too Strong, too Fast, TOO GOOD. Look up that Dragic dunk clip if you've never seen it, the announcers going crazy 😤
Derrick Rose is also shy due to hearing about a local hero, Benji, being murdered by another teen for being too cocky or whatever. Plus being cocky on the southside isn't a good look especially after the 1990s, making you an easy target.
DRose was that little kid from Chicago idolizing mj, who actually could fly just like him. He was what everyone wanted yo be
As a Miami Heat fan, I just wanted to see Derrick recover and being back to being that amazing player who took your breath away with what he could do. That Bulls team was super scary, and it seemed like they had a bunch of bullies, but were led by this super cool and talented dude. I guess I don't know why I like D Rose, what made him different than any other superstar player, but he was amazing to watch and I just wanted to see him do well after his injury.
Yeah I got scared when we had to see them in the playoffs every year lol can’t even cap
Joakim never fails to impress on LeBron
Huh
Thank you so much for asking Joakim these questions 💯
D Rose got hurt when he shouldn't been in the game. Smh. I'll never forget that pro hop he took.
Thibs is a stain on basketball i dont like him
Noah also beloved Bulls. ❤🙏Deng, Kirk also
People talk about how Quiet Kawhi is, I said, so was Derrick Rose! Very humble and straight to the point
Prime D Rose was scary good. He was the Barry Sanders of basketball. Always will love D Rose
Pre injury Rose was better than Wade.
Stop. D Rose was good for only about 2-3yrs. D Rose highest PPG for a season was 25 and he only did it once. D Wade did that 6 times and his highest was like 31. D Rose 1 all NBA team D Wade 8 all NBA and 3 All defensive. D Rose aint close to Wade. He good but stop it.

This was a great segment ( interview ) . Enjoyed it immensely . Thx
I feel like he was taking shots a D wade saying he’s really from Chicago not the burbs 😂 since d wade was from robbins and went to school in oak lawn richards
The video of D Rose at all star game just standing there while everyone dances encapsulates his personality perfectly
I remember going into the all star break. Rose gave Tony Parker D Williams and Chris Paul 40 in a row
