That cat didn't just have a super secret stash but had decoy stashes all over the place to get the pesky humans off his trail. Absolute mastermind kleptomaniac right there.
Lawyer: Is there any way he could have been alive at the time of the autopsy? Doctor: No. Lawyer: How can you be so sure he was not alive? Doctor: Because his brain and brainstem were sitting in a jar on my desk. Lawyer: Is there no chance he could have still been alive at that time? Doctor: Yes, and likely practicing law somewhere
This is either typed from memory, or copied from an abridged source. The full transcript is: *Lawyer:* Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse? *Doctor:* No. *Lawyer:* Did you check for blood pressure? *Doctor:* No. *Lawyer:* Did you check for breathing? *Doctor:* No. *Lawyer:* So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy? *Doctor:* No. *Lawyer:* How can you be so sure, Doctor? *Doctor:* Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar. *Lawyer:* But could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless? *Doctor:* Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.
Husband is a prankster, wife is a prankster, but their cat is the ultimate prankster! 😍 I'm glad this wholesome story had a good ending. Except the cat will have to find a new hiding spot.
Not to get dark but when I was at a mental hospital, we weren’t allowed to have strings on any of our clothes because of potential safety risks. So my initial thought was “oh no, is the wife experiencing some sort of abnormal paranoia over the strings on his clothes? Is she worried about her husband?” Was very happy to hear that both OP and the wife are doing fine, their cat just has a mischievous streak. However it is funny that the cat only targets the husband’s pants lmao
It's amazing that the cousin who got spoiled by her family isn't an entitled kid. We have seen so many stories like that, thank god OP has her brother and cousin.
Sounds like the little brother also got a bit of Golden child treatment and was still on her side. It's good that the younger generation of this family have each other's backs
OP and the cousin probably have a really good relationship and the cousin happens to have a strong moral compass. Totally agree with you though, it's sad how often we see golden child syndrome turn a kid into a monster.
If it actually happened. She could have made it up as a way to cope. Because it sounds way too good to be true. Real life usually doesn't work like that. At least mine sure as hell hasn't.
Right! Pretty bad when the KIDS see how messed up the adults' behavior was over the years before the adults realized the BS they were pulling! So BOTH families were paying for one party and nobody planning it could include OP in those plans??? I could see OP's trash parents piggybacking off of the cousin's party just so they didn't have to spend any money but knowing they put money towards a party that didn't include OP in the plans is even more of an insult than them doing nothing for her at all...
No cake story: Your cousin is an absolute sweetheart. I'm glad you didn't turn your anger towards her at any point. Despite being treated like a princess by them, she still turned out as a smart, kind, confident young woman. Hold on to her and your brother. They're your real family.
No Cake Please: You and I both know that the only reason the family is upset is because the cousin joined OP in cutting them out of their lives, otherwise they wouldn't have cared. Also, the cousin should've taken that cheesecake and pied Abuelita in the face with it for daring to say what she said. Lord knows that none of them deserve anything resembling respect. Last story: OMG they have a 😺 SNEAKTHIEF 😺 SO CUTE!!!
Yeah I mentioned this in my own comment, but the way that she and her cousin handled things was honestly the most patient anyone could have been in this situation lmfao. It could have been handled MUCH worse.
I didnt get a cake till 15 and it wasnt even my family then when family found out they start saying, oh we alwys celebrate you just dont remember but when I say wheres the pictures their like we dont know where they at like dead ass they just didnt wanted to admit they never cared
Of course it was the cat in the last story 😂 My cats have stolen half my socks at this point and I still can't find them after turning the house upside down lmao
I have three cats (mom, daughter, son trio). I *knew* it was them stealing things off the counter but no one believed me. I borrowed a go pro to catch them. I caught the tomcat running off with an ENTIRE TOMATO and finally found where they were stashing things (including some gross AF food they had stolen). Highlights of the stash: a large Squishmallow, a powerstrip, a gel air freshner, a collapsible umbrella, and the bird from the cuckoo clock.
Lol I didn't know cats were like that. My grandkids found an abondoned 2 weeks old kitten a couple years ago. So this is the first cat I have ever had lol. But just yesterday I had my brother helping me with some things and he found a bunch of cat toys under the bathroom cabinet haha. I am curious if she has an actually hiding spot. I think those toys were there because of her swatting them around the house lol.
@@amberlindsey7112 That can happen a lot, my couch can attest to it. But I'd be on the lookout for a hard to find hiding spot. Cats that like to steal usually have two, one easy and one hard. The easy is to make it seems like you found what they took. The chaotic things that make you wonder how cats even exist will be in the hard one (see my earlier comment, my cats literally took the bird from an old antique cuckoo clock without us realizing). Not every cat is a thief, and not every thief is a chaos gremlin. I just have three who all steal and the brother/sister like to work together to be chaotic.
On the last story, the cat might need a friend. His behavior is similar to a female cat's maternal urge to hide her "kittens", so maybe an actual kitten (or just a more submissive cat) would keep all of OP's & wife's stuff from being used as kitten surrogates. If the cat is instead pretending to be a dragon, maybe wrestling & stalking another cat would be a preferred way to play!
@@davesaylor7829 Lol. This reminded me of my family's late cat Simba. He was always breaking into food, you couldn't leave any food out, even if you put it in tupperwear he would knock it off of the counter to try to *break* them open (which sometimes worked, sometimes didn't), and when we got a tiny dog Juju (a lhasa apso mix, who can't reach the counters) Simba would knock the food down and then Juju would get it open. One time I found out because Juju casually trotted into the room, looking very proud of himself carrying his tupperwear of food. I said "What's that in your mouth?" and he realized "I have made a mistake" and tried to casually turn around and walk back out 😂
@@dagnytheartist My family had a shihtzu. His name was Einstein. He once snatched a chunk of meat off my plate then trotted down the hallway looking very pleased with himself! When I cornered him, he looked up at me and wagged his fluffy tail like “Come on you know I’m adorable and you love me!” I picked him up and removed the meat (the chunk was quite a bit bigger than his little mouth) and chastised him! We had him for 16 years before he quietly and gently passed in my arms.
Hi, I’m the author of the last story. We live in a place that only allows two pets, excluding smaller pets like hamsters or fish. We have the dog in my pfp, and then we have our cat. While we can’t get another cat, our pets do play a lot with each other despite being of different species. He does already have a wrestling buddy, but you’re saying that he needs and actual cat? I’ll look into it, but there’s not a lot I can do about it. But, it’s really not that big of a deal since we know where to look for missing stuff from now on.
Op's cousin in story 2 may be the golden child, but I rarely see stories where the golden child has a heart of gold. It's cool that the cousin is actively doing her best to make OP still feel special, like giving her her presents and asking about OPs cake, even going out of her way to spend money to give OP a separate birthday when their family had all the opportunities to do it themselves. Fuck the family, but the brother and cousin. Story 3: ah cats, the racoons of the common pet industry. My 4 month old kitten has recently developed her own kleptomania of stealing napkins and smaller junk from our garbage cans.
Yea, my sister was the golden child growing up and I was the scapegoat, luckily my sister had my back the entire time growing up. We're both now NC with our parents and as close as siblings can ever be, because we realise that it's neither of our fault that our asshole parents thought it would be smart to play favorites. They can have fun figuring out how to do stuff when the get too old to do anything by themselves, because neither me nor my sister is going to ever help them out due to them playing favorites.
It’s not mentioned in the video but it’s all but confirmed that the reason the cousin was favored over OP was due to colorism, cousin is lighter skinned while OP is darker.
How can you be ungrateful? Tell them “I’m so grateful for being IGNORED for 15 YEARS, and treating me like I don’t matter in my own life!!!” Tell them that they suck and don’t deserve to be your family because you are more important than they are!!! Glad you got support from your cousin and brother.
As the cousin (because she is older) I'd have asked "grateful for what". Those adults are disgusting and I'm really glad, that the cousin is on OPs side.
Toxic family like this tend to think that doing the bare minimum as required by law is already going above and beyond what an unwanted child deserves. Therefore in their minds the unwanted child should be "grateful" for not being aborted, abandoned or beaten. People like this think very backwards and blame the child for existing.
Story 3: So it turns out the wife was innocent. The cat though… The wife is going to forever poke fun at OP for this. Like "Hey, remember the time when you accused me of removing strings, but it turned out the cat stole them?" OP will never let this moment go
@@Drave_Jr. see I called that because it's such a girl thing to tie the laces and be more careful with clothes. Guys don't always think about that kind of thing.
About the 2nd story. So the parents, uncle/aunt and grandma ("abuela" means "grandma" in Spanish, meaning that OP certainly grew up in a hispanic family) are explaining that they don't have enough money to buy an Oreo cake, once in a year? It's too hard for the parents to save at least 100$ on a whole year to buy a cake and a present for their daughter, while they have to ensure the maintenance of 2 BMW each year? Ok, they surely wanted to compete in the worst parents race here. Even OP's brother and cousin have more caring and parenting skills than the actual parents and family. And now the mother feels depressed after 4 months without seeing her daughter? So what does OP could say after 15 years of being mistreated like that? Sow the injustice, reap the regrets.
Right. She knew she f-ed up. I’m glad she respected OP’s wishes and didn’t push it. I’m wondering if she was missing the brother if he was away at private school so she decided she wanted a relationship with the child she threw away. Either way, she got what she wanted. She can’t be upset when she realized she didn’t want what she got. I’m so happy OP’s cousin and brother were loving and supportive. They obviously didn’t get it from their parents.
Safe money says that word got out somehow about how they've been treating OP for the last 15 years, and OP doesn't know it because she's no contact with them, so now their reputation, extremely important in these communities, is ruined.
The last story is very cute, what a lil scamp of a cat. The entire time i was tryina figure out why tf a wife would just steal his pants strings and only his pants strings but it twas just the kitty Also, he could pobably tie the strings together while not wearing the pants to prevent the cat from being able to steal the strings
Right? It also feels like taking copies of information she had access to as a privilege of her job and taking it after losing said job could be grounds for something. I don’t know what sort of action but either by OP or the company this loonytoon worked for!
not only that, but she misused their HR system to get info on this woman (I am assuming the OP no longer works there). That is a huge no no, and would result in immediate termination.
Story 2: shoutout to OP's cousin & little brother for doing their best to treat OP right and make her feel included and ultimately having her back when it came down to the wire instead of letting the attention go to their heads and becoming spoiled brats. That's usually how these golden child/glass child stories go so it's refreshing to have a change.
Especially their abuela. I don't know what culture they're from, but most cultures that have or mention an abuela usually have one as a family matriarch so she just stood up to the entire family and risked ostracizing themselves for this. Glad they did tho, it's never right to overlook someone just because they happen to be born so soon to someone else. Had a cousin born a day before me just like this and tho we never had any problems celebrating our b-days apart, I know it couldn't have been easy on our familys at times.
I wouldn’t be surprised if OP’s toxic family members are upset that the golden kids actually care for OP instead of tossing OP to the side like the rest of them clearly did
It's so refreshing to have one of these 'golden child' stories (kind of) where the favoured child is supportive of the OP with the Cousin being on OP's side ❤
Story 1: on the off chance she would have even gotten to your uncle through this idiotic case, given he has no relationship with the kid and is not the father he would not have been liable either. This couldn't have possibly been easier than looking for another job or getting government aid.
My theory was that maybe the woman assumed that the "father" did transition to get out of child support and that was her way of getting support, but I was not expecting her logic behind it.
@@TJDious not insane because the legal system protects women and single mothers. That’s why we have so many of them now. When the mothers realize they can’t do it on the own. They turn to their “husband”, the state, to garnish the wages of any random man they can remotely accuse. The onus is on the accused to prove his innocence of being the father. Most don’t find out till they’re being told their wages are being garnished. By then the courts have already declared him as the father. It’s like Sisyphus pushing the boulder uphill.
This is just a theory but I think she wants the money but doesn't want the father to know about their son because of his status of being in prison so she thought she could get around contacting him by getting help from his family. This wild goose chase was to find the grandfather's information to hopefully guilt him into supporting them since his trash son can't. It is extremely flawed thinking but I don't think she truly thought she could sue the grandfather for support because she knows the cousin's name and could have started there if she really wanted to get "grandpa's" info but the fact that she went this convoluted way suggests she doesn't want the "daddy" to know. She wants the cake but doesn't want to get burned while baking it... She shouldn't have done this but I can understand her perspective as a struggling mother who also wants to protect her kid from a potentially dangerous man knowing he exists. That is the extent of grace I'm willing to give because everything else is bonkers...
Story 2: They basically treated OP like a third wheel in these shared birthday parties. Just someone that's just…there, while giving the cousin all of the spotlight (which the cousin isn't happy about). How hard is it to give both people the spotlight? What is stopping them from NOT making a shared birthday party all about the cousin? Even the cousin was better than them, giving OP some of her gifts. Surely the relatives would see that
Second story, good OP was able to recognize the toxicity of her family and cut them out. Though I think it says a lot about them with how easily she did it besides her bro and cousin. Not to mention her cousin also saw how bad things were and did the same minus OP and her brother considering the golden child garbage the family was doing. I will say I'm worried about OP's brother though. He was most likely going to get similar treatment to the cousin because he's the child that OP's family wanted, but he knows his parents are terrible and backs OP.
The lengths cats go for their personal stashes. My cats isn’t hidden, his is right under the stairs. His prized stash. Poof balls, underwear, strings, toys, qtips, and straws as well as other random things. I’ll sometimes stop to admire it, and he’ll run down the basement stairs and just sits beside it feeling so proud of his work.
With so many people living in the US not having big, extended families, cousins are often people you almost never see, maybe just the occasional holiday. Therefore, they are almost strangers or at best, mild acquaintances. However, some cultures it's common to grow up surrounded by cousins and those relationships can be as close as brother/sister. Sure that can lead to sibling squabbles but it can also lead to very tight bonds. I did not grow up in quite that kind of family but did spend quite a bit of time around one cousin and we are TIGHT. I have no siblings but I'm happy to count her as one. From her perspective, I'm probably the spoiled one. My family life wasn't the greatest but it was damn sure better than hers.
Second story reminds me of a another story that RSlash readed few months ago, where op never had a ny b-day cause his little sister was always blowing candles and having cake that she liked and when op got a car, his sister started smashing it with hammer cause she didnt get it as well :) In the recent update to that story, it get';s even crazier and long story short op sister and his mother are staying in mental ward :)
I re-heard that story just yesterday! Tho it's refreshing that the cousin actually defended, helped and supported OP instead of being bratty about it ❤ Kind of skeptical too about the mom trying to reconnect, glad OP didn't buy on it and moved on to start her own life. It's always hard to move out of your parents early, especially with such negligence to be celebrated on her own her whole life.
I have to say /BestOf is my favorite genre to see rslash read! Obviously its limited only to stories that have not only updates but satisfying conclusions, but they always cheer me up for that exact same reason.
No cake please... they called her ungrateful. I'm sorry, I must have missed the part where the family gave them something to be grateful for, barring the kindness of the cousin and brother.
lol as SOON as I heard the beginning of the string story I was like “OP probably has a cat he hasn’t mentioned yet,” I feel so vindicated lol, cats are such little weirdos like that 🤣
Story 2: This is why favourtism destroys family relationships, and I don't understand why families still do this. The cousin and brother are the MVPs for jumping in and siding with OP on the blatant favoritism though, because usually the birthday girl just acts like a brat and sides with the family because she got what she likes, which is rare. Cut them out of your life, you don't need toxic people who doesn't give two f*cks about you.
A cute fun story at the end was awesome. My husband teases me because I HAVE to listen to "my RSLASH" with my coffee every morning. You post at exactly 8 am my time every single day! I think having a fun story at the end was a great idea! This would be especially true when some of the stories are super heavy. You have, once again, made me happy to be a listener for so long! Thanks! (I do miss those cute puppy/dog clips at the end though!) :)
In my headcannon Yugo and Lily are playing while Dagnby[sp] records in studio. Wifey makes sure they play nice, and the family all have an adventure when he's done recording.
To the "mother" of the second story, you can't fix a relationship where you essentially made the input of 15 years of abuse with only looking depressed, and to that whole "family" how does it feel losing 3 relatives in 1 day? Honestly, OP, her cousin and her little brother are going tp be better off without that "family" (well, the brother will have to wait a few years, but it would not surprise me if he follows into the steps of his sister)
The no cake story reminded me a LOT of the 18-year-old with the spoiled sister who's 8, but at least the ending of this story has a better ending than that one, at least for the sibling and cousin.
I live with my first born niece and her family as well as my mother. Niece adopted a darling kitty in the spring. A beautiful long hair orange tabby. When he was a tiny kitten, he hopped up on my mother’s nightstand and started to eye her vase of roses. I warned him not to what he was obviously thinking! He ignored me. Stuck out a little paw and bonked it against the vase, knocking it to the floor. He started to scurry away, but I swiftly captured him in my hands. I began sternly chastising him. He was definitely intimidated. He started purring and I melted! Yes I am a total sucker for that floof ball!
The mother in the second story looking depressed and having lost a lot of weight. I can only speculate 2 things have happened either she and or her husband lost their jobs and are broke so they were looking to build a relationship with OP to get money from her. OR she actually did feel legitimately bad for what she did to her daughter and the realization that she had been a failure as a mother finally began to sink in and caused her to become depressed. There are some situations where I feel like if you truly were sorry about what you did you wouldn't have done it in the first place. So good riddance to bad trash!
or bring OP back to the family, therefore the cousin, who is the one I think they care most about bringing back. The mother may see herself this way because "because of her" the cousin left the family and was bullied by the entire family for it.
Well since the golden child cousin cut her out as well over it, there is the third possibility of “the mother hasn’t been depressed because OP left, it was because the cousin left, so if she gets OP to tell the cousin that the relationship is fixed, then the cousin who she actually cares about will come back as well.”
My moneys on the story got outside the family to their social circle/community and now their reputation is ruined and they need OP back to fake everything being okay.
@PFEANYCS agreed, I think the mother's being bullied by husband and his family over "how could you let your evil daughter talk her beautiful, perfect cousin into leaving?!!"
First story: So this pile of nonsense was overturned, not by the logic of "she's female so not the father", but "she's adopted so your convoluted scheme wouldn't work anyway."?! Dear god. The "so stupid it burns" just set my curtains on fire.
My impression was that because some of the papers were pre-adoption, they wouldn’t have reflected a possible transition (assuming OP was adopted as a baby), which is why they were able to use that to dismiss the case. Transvestigators are pretty wild but I’ve yet to see one make the claim that you can get your gender marker changed literally right out of the womb. (Except for intersex babies but that’s a whole other story)
the second story.. oh my god the poor girl.. she makes it seem so much smaller by phrasing it that way, that it's just about the cake. when really it's favouriteism to the point of abuse. thank god the cousin seems like a reasonable person.
Okay so for context on the larger story about the Cake story: A Quincenera (I can't really type accents here so bear with me) is basically akin to a Sweet 16 in the US. But in Mexico (which I assume this is given that this is where that kind of celebration largely happens), one of the largest pieces of that culture is that Loyalty to one's family and friends is a heavily important thing. Not in the sense of "oh we have to uphold our family's honor" or anything like that, but the kind that's like anyone will do anything for one's family. It can lead to a bit of gaslighting here and there, however. The fact that they kinda just ignored her for the better part of 15 years like that on BOTH her Quince and 18th birthday? Yeah, she's absolutely right to go no contact with them. And let me tell you, she was being the most patient she possibly could have in this situation. This was extremely bad on that family to treat her in such a way. The only ones in that family who even kept true to that loyalty are her cousin and brother, stars bless 'em. I'm glad that she was able to find peace with herself, and I'm glad that at the very least, the mother will live with this shame for a very long time.
4:40 Normally, in the USA, grandparents are not obliged to pay child support in place of their children, but this can happen in some situations or states. In other countries like Brazil, for example (I'm Brazilian), grandparents become legally responsible for paying if their child is unable to do so. So yes. Grandparents can be responsible for paying child support, but it varies from case to case
Also, wanted to point out in the first story that even if OP donated her eggs or was a surrogate for someone that she still wouldn't be legally obligated to pay child support. That mother is a nut.
I’ve never thought about how important that law is until now… literally no one would donate eggs or sperm or do surrogacy if you had to pay child support for it. We’d especially have a lack of sperm donors because, with how easy it is to collect it, some poor guy could accidentally find himself in a situation where the government is asking him to pay child support on like 100 different babies
3rd story: it ended so well, I’m so glad OP was able to find his stuff and that this didn’t turn out as some weird controlling spouse doing weird things. Kind of a cute story, refreshing from the depressing, frustrating, weird ones.
We noticed all the cat toys had started to go missing once, and assumed that one was hiding them, but we weren’t sure where. One day, my roommate dropped his phone down the side of the couch and he was reaching under to grab it. I heard him go “…the fuck?” He found about 20 cat toys, a lollipop (presumably from his kid) and something else small, all shoved under the couch. One of my other cats was having the best day ever with all the ‘new’ toys while the thief sat there sulking. (She likes stealing gloves from his room and bringing them to him. I think it’s revenge. Once, we heard her howling near the basement door and when he went to check, she’d found he left his sock drawer open, went in, stole a rolled up pair of socks and brought it to him. Such a strange cat.)
For the cake story, me and my brother share a birthday, we have NEVER been left out of celebration. We have struggled to make ends meet, but neither was left out a single time when celebrating birthdays. OPs family just doesn’t care about her at all, either because they’re too cheap to do so, or they straight up do not think of her as family.
First story: What that woman did could potentially be illegal, and OP should consider suing not only her but the company as well. Second story: It would rock if OP were to get her family into a family therapy session, where the therapist asks them to each (one by one) explain why they are upset with OP, and then the therapist asks them each (based on what they have each said) about any validity to OP's actions. Like being mad that OP yelled about always being forgotten because her name wasn't on the cake. "Has her name been forgotten before?" "Yes." "So then you would agree that she has a valid reason to be upset, right?" (If they deny forgetting her name before, when OP tells how her name tends to be hastily written on there in a way that doesn't match with the rest of the wording, they'll have to deal with that. Cousin can confirm it if they try to deny it.) Or about a lack of gifts. "Well, what gifts did you all get for (cousin)?" (After several items listed.) "And what did you all get for (OP)?" (crickets chirping) Once they realize that they just proved OP is right by their own words, that's when they might also realize that they should be ashamed of themselves. Third story: Plot twist, wife is the one who did it but decided to plant the evidence to frame the cat. She would have suggested it being the cat after a few more days if he hadn't thought of it himself.
Story 1: Sadly, this is a reality that men have to face. Never met the woman? Never had relations? Wore a condom and threw it out? Doesn't matter, submit your DNA and prove it, while spending a hefty amount in lawyer's fees and probably missed work. It's frivolous lawsuits designed to get some poor guy who doesn't have the time, money, or ability to fight to take responsibility for a child that isn't his or was fraudulently conceived. I've heard of women taking the used condoms out of the trash and using the fluid to get a bun in the oven. Even age isn't a protection. There was a woman in Cali who forced herself on her son's underage friend, his family has to pay and she had to spend alternate weekends in jail for a while. Meanwhile if you complain about how unfair it is, you're told that your opinion doesn't matter, that you deserve it, or that you should just man up and deal with it because even if it's not yours, the kid needs a father. Btw, what happened to the woman filing the obviously false report? Nothing? Sounds about right. Edit: No, I'm not some sexist who blames all women for these offenses, I'm married and have 3 daughters. Obviously, it'snotall women doing this. I'm simply pointing out that this kind of crap does happen and is rarely fairly adjudicated. While I feel bad that the woman can't find OP's cousin, wouldn't he be listed in whatever prison he's serving in?, it does not justify the invasion of privacy and hassle she put OP through and she should be punished for it. How do we know that she won't just do it again to some random guy to stick him with the bill? She was obviously willing to abuse her position to get OP's info, then file charges that she knew were bunk to begin with.
first and last story: omg, did not see it coming. second story: the family is trash. glad that cousin has OP's back and even bought a cake for her! hope OP is doing much better now
I love the ending of the last one XD the second he mentioned having a cat I knew that was the culprit, as a cat mom myself. Adorable story, what a silly kitty. I'd prefer a cat that does that, though, then what one of mine does... which is try to eat anything that looks like a leaf. I love her but. why.
omg... That's not a cat. That's a fuzzy, lovable dragon with its own hoard. My cat at one point stole my car/house keys, and after HOURS of looking for them, I looked under my bed. I found a pile of missing hair ties, crumpled up receipts I had thrown for him (he plays fetch), a $10 bill he stole out of my hand bag, a handful of rings from the seal of milk jugs, one of my fuzzy winter gloves, an empty key ring that was a shiny unicorn, a bottle of blue nail polish and a bunch of his rattle mice toys that I kept replacing because they went missing. I've bought 5 PACKAGES of 20 rattle mice over the last THREE YEARS because I could never find them. I took the $10 bill back and some hair ties, and a few of the rattle mice, but left the rest of it alone. He still has his little hoard under my bed, and if anything goes missing, that's the first place I look now. I just swap it with something else.
Story 2: ungrateful for what they didn't do anything for you your name wasn't even on the cake. I'm glad to hear that you've got all of them out of your life, and even more glad to hear that you're standing your ground against all your toxic family, enjoy your life with the two people that do care about you.
Wow... The woman who tried to sue OP for child support needs a mental health evaluation. Also, OP should counter-sue for harassment. Absolutely bonkers.
As someone who shares a birthday with an older cousin, I never got my own cake until I moved out. As she needed to be the princess, literally. She wore a new tiara every year and threw a fit of my name was even on the cake.
Story #1: Bring an attorney and counter sue the woman AND the attorney.for GROSS INCOMPETENCE. Story #2: OP, you just revealed WHY your parents had no money for YOUR cake...the BMWs!!!! Cut all contact with those toxic POS.
I am a licensed attorney in California. In every state that I have looked at for this issue, a lawyer cannot bring a suit she knows to be frivolous or without merit. Suits also almost never start with a notice of a law suit instead they start with a Demand Letter. Is an attorney does bring a suit without due research, preparation, or fact finding, that would almost certainly be a violation of her ethical responsibilities that could land the attorney in hot water with her state bar. A court case that did started without a demand letter or pre-litigation may not even allowed to move forward at all. In short, OP could potentially end the career of the attorney.
Story 2: I'm surprised at how sweet and kind-hearted the brother and cousin have became, with parents and relatives like that. Was honestly expecting them to be spoiled rotten by their parents/relatives at the start of the story but instead they seem like the only reasonable and kind people in this story/family (except OP as well).
That first lady should counter-sue the other lady for stealing personal and confidential documentation about her from the joint prior employer. Could maybe even throw said employer in there for good measure, just to be sure they're corporate lawyer pins it back on her as well.
Okay, so I'm not personally Hispanic or Latin, but I do know that Quinceaneras are a HUGE deal. The family ignoring OP's Quince for her cousin's (non-Quince) birthday is so utterly disrespectful.
8:15 I honestly would ask them what I should be grateful for. My Souci doesn’t see anything. Ask her. My little brother doesn’t see anything for me either. So? What’s for me? What should I be grateful for?
Last story: My thought was that his wife likes the ”low hanging” look on him with the pyjama pants but is too embarrassed to admit it 😂 This explanation made much more sense and I’m glad the mystery was solved with such a wholesome ending 😂
That woman could join the cousin in jail for accessing OP’s personnel information for nefarious reasons. I hope she didn’t let that go. Talk about a convoluted, premeditated plot!
Last story: One of my cats passed away back in 2020 and was extremely possessive of catnip toys. He would take them and hide them all over the house so that our other cats couldn't find them. It's been over three years since he died, and we are still finding these toys. One of the biggest stashes was in my dresser drawer where he was able to slip in behind the dresser, break through the back piece and hide his toys there. The drawer has been broken for many years so I never used it. When it was finally time to get rid of the dresser, I cleaned it out entirely and was able to break into the broken drawer and found all of my cat's favourite toys. The moment I saw one of his favourite catnip fish toys, something broke and I started laughing and crying at the same time. I will always miss this cat since I raised him from a kitten and he was my favourite boy, but at least now I get to pass on these toys without feeling sad about it. It makes me happy to see my two kittens go crazy over these toys.
If you're a parent and you think you might end up having a favourite, then don't have a second kid! So many people's childhoods have been ruined by favouritism, mine included. It was so bad, I slept in the living room because my mother gave my bedroom to my sister so she could have an "office" at 16! My sister had pocket money sometimes up to twice a day, but I've had to pay for my own food since I was 15. What kind of parent does this??
I'm so sorry you experienced this abuse! No child deserves to feel unwanted. It's especially cruel to be forced to watch a sibling receive love denied them💔
You will have a favorite, that's just how people work. However, deciding that because you have a favorite they get the only say in anything going on is the problem. You can have a favorite, just make sure to give both equal love and care.
Proud of the cousin having OP's back and not becoming a spoiled brat. The cousin recognized that this situation was wrong, and took their side no matter what. Proud of them and OP!
First story: The leaps in logic done people can go through is honestly quite fascinating to see. Second story: Toxic people are like some cancers. You feel so much better once you cut that crap out of your life. Third story: You have a literal cat burglar in your house😂
I think this is the first time all the stories have happy resolutions!!!! Story 1: super funny and light Story 2: started bad, but OP turned out okay and she's still has her cousin and brother, and op said herself that she's happy now Story 3: as a cat owner, this is super relatable (one of the cats took an old scrunchie of mine...I found it a month later under one of their beds) and super cute!! I love happy stories like this!
First story: WTH, the attorney basically admitted he was representing a child r*pist and seems to have no problem, I figured this was one of those attorneys. Also no, she wouldn't be able to sue the uncle for child support, it would just be child support that would get charged to him over his prison sentence. Second story: My mother had to deal with something similar, as she was born 11 months after her brother, so her birthday party got held back 2 weeks while his was pushed forward 2 weeks. What's funny is that the cousin is not only aware of this, but actively seems to be the only one trying to actually be nice to OP. Third Story: This makes total sense, cats are mischievous and seem to always find something to hide. At least OP apologized for blaming his wife, but I can see how he came to that conclusion.
Second Story: Give that cousin and OP's brother awards for standing up for OP and sharing birthday gifts with OP. Their families are the absolute worst. They can afford 2 BMWs, private school for OP's brother, and mega birthday parties but for rediculous reasons cannot afford to get OP her own birthday cake when they clearly can afford to get the cousin one? Favortism and entitlement that their finest. I have 2 younger cousins (both of them are brothers BTW) who have their birthdays one day apart and their parents always made sure that they each had their own birthday cakes during their joint birthday parties. Last Story: my sister had a similar issue with one of our cats. He would constantly take her hair ties out of the drawers in our bathroom (yes, he has figured out how to open the drawers and cabinets in our bathroom as well as the laundry hamper in the hall) and play with the ties until the point that they would break. It eventually got to the point that we had to put safety latches on each of the drawers and cabinets (including the laundry hamper) in bathroom and hall that he had gotten into the habit of opening. Now he can only try to open those drawers and cabinets.
Strings: I'm so happy it was just the cat. I was scared that the wife had gotten into conspiracy theories or something, so I'm glad that's not the case.
The story with the cousin and OP’s birthdays was gut wrenching, but still bittersweet. There have been so many stories where the overindulged one is just as selfish and entitled, however in this case the cousin was always looking out the best she could, maybe even speaking to the family in private, which fell on deaf ears. However if OP’s family is anything like my ex’s family there was probably a lot of stuff swept under the rug for the face of the family. The cousin possibly always suspected something, but never knew how severe it was until that moment, or was waiting for the chance to take OP out of the situation. Glad OP is doing better.
Story 2 legit made me tear up. I can't imagine being treated like that my whole life. I'm glad that OP has a good support system in her cousin and brother I wish them all the best and I hope the NC makes the family reflect on what they have done and hopefully keeps them from making any similar mistakes in the future to anyone else.
So my fave part of last story is wife in the story is missing stuffed animals, jewelry, airpods...not going down a conspiracy rabbit hole accusing her husband...just vibing. Husband is missing...pj strings...wife must be at war with his pants...
"Abuela" (Grandma) is obviously a Cluster of Bees, OP's mom is also, and to them the older cousin is the Golden Child while OP is the scapegoat. (Please note "Cluster of Bees" is intended to refer to ONLY abusive people, NOT "all" Cluster B's)
The cake thing is horrible, but it would have been ever so slightly _less_ bad if you hadn't literally promised OP her own separate cake (6:44). If you weren't going to get her an OREO ice cream cake... then just don't tell her you will. This isn't rocket surgery. If "something came up" last second, even if it was just you being lazy; pull her aside beforehand and warn her... how in the world did you not see this coming? Maybe even add, "I'll make it up to you later," even if you don't mean it-- actually, maybe I shouldn't be giving tips to abusers on how to be marginally less evil.
I had someone call and ask if I had a German shepherd. I told her that I did. "Well, your dog impregnated my dog. You need to pay some of the bills." I started laughing. "But I have puppies. It's not funny!" I laughed some more. "My dog is Heidi, a female, and she's spayed. Smart people spay their female dogs." She hung up.
Story 1: Yeah, that story is crazy alright. If OP had a gender-neutral name, I probably would have understood, but with context, I have a hunch this woman got bad legal advice to pull a stunt like this. Suing OP by proxy to get to the cousin is kind of ridiculous, to be honest, and if she does want that money for child support, she CAN sue the cousin directly even if he is in jail, but the process will be a lot harder. Well, I guess that explains why she pulled this stunt: too lazy and probably too expensive to navigate the complications involved. Story 2: Oh, I heard this story before. Still a NTA verdict, and honestly, I am surprised the cousin and little brother are decent people, cause for most stories like these, you would think those two would join in the douchebag behavior and rag on OP as well. It always stings when you realize you are not the favorite, which is a form of mental torture. OP, my advice is to stay no contact with your elders. Keep your cousin and brother close, cause they are the only ones who got your back when no one else did. Story 3: Oh, so it was the cat responsible. Luckily this is not a serious tale, which is good, considering the first two.
That cat reminds me of my cat Twinkie. Since my dad works 2-4am to 6pm, he used to set his large lunch bag on the counter in the kitchen when he gets home. There's a lot of stuff in his lunch bag for work, such as his wallet, tools, books, medicines, rags etc for his job with construction. One day at 4am, he phoned me and asked, "Has your cat been in my lunch bag?" I was confused and asked why. He told me he stopped at the gas station to fill up on gas before he headed to work, but he couldn't find his wallet in his bag. I ask if he forgot it at work but he told me he took it out along with his notepad so he knew he had it. As I looked around the kitchen for his wallet, I remember seeing a bag of sausages in my room from the night before. So I took a look in my bedroom and it turn out Twinkie managed to store his wallet along with a bunch of bags of treats and other things under my bed. When I returned my dad's wallet, I laughed and said that Twinkie was a literal Cat Burglar for sneaking into his bag to steal his wallet. Part of the reason why I think Twinkie took his wallet is because it had quite a bit of a smell she was attracted to or it smelled like a rodent since my dad works at a construction company so he comes home with a strong smell once awhile. He decide to put his lunch bag in the cupboard from now on.
Step 1: Cut a little hole in the back of the couch. Step 2: Over several months/years, stash a random assortment of items in said couch through said hole. Step 2.5: make sure that one of the repeating items stashed there are hubby's pajama strings, but not my own. Step 3: Feign ignorance when hubby gets upset at you for the pajama strings. Step 4: Hide one of the pajama strings beneath the couch for hubby to find. Step 5: Hubby finds the string from step 4, and now suspects the cat. Step 6: Help hubby search for the "cat's stash" for a bit, then "find" the hole in the back of the couch. Step 7: Success! the cat was implicated, and cannot defend itself! Step 8: Get hubby's apology, together with a box of chocolates, hopefully a new, better couch, and most importantly, get rid of the stupid, annoying cat! ~From the diary of the wife in the last story
Ok let's assume the woman in the first story would have gotten O.P.'s DNA and the test proofed her to be an biological aunt of second degree and thus her incarcerated cousin as the child fathers, how would she make claims against the uncle (even if he is the grandpa)?
That cat didn't just have a super secret stash but had decoy stashes all over the place to get the pesky humans off his trail. Absolute mastermind kleptomaniac right there.

Lawyer: How can you be so sure he was not alive?
Doctor: Because his brain and brainstem were sitting in a jar on my desk.
Lawyer: Is there no chance he could have still been alive at that time?
Doctor: Yes, and likely practicing law somewhere
Heard this before. This is truly what was said in a real trial (as far as I can tell)
This is either typed from memory, or copied from an abridged source. The full transcript is:
*Lawyer:* Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
*Doctor:* No.
*Lawyer:* Did you check for blood pressure?
*Doctor:* No.
*Lawyer:* Did you check for breathing?
*Doctor:* No.
*Lawyer:* So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
*Doctor:* No.
*Lawyer:* How can you be so sure, Doctor?
*Doctor:* Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.

Last sentence, buying box of chocolates. Lol, he knows how to get on her good side. Now they will have a good story to tell.
Glad to see that the last story didn't end in tears/divorce. :)
I thought it was two women.
Right I was waiting for the cousin to be entitled but when she said that the cousin give her gift to op, I was happy to hear that
OP and the cousin probably have a really good relationship and the cousin happens to have a strong moral compass. Totally agree with you though, it's sad how often we see golden child syndrome turn a kid into a monster.
If it actually happened. She could have made it up as a way to cope. Because it sounds way too good to be true. Real life usually doesn't work like that. At least mine sure as hell hasn't.
Having to be perfect to be loved has its drawbacks too
I have to say, it is REFRESHING to see a “this other kid gets all my birthdays” story where said other kid ISN’T a major brat, and is even apologetic!
It probably helped that the spoiled kid in question was 2 years older. A little maturity can sometimes make a difference.
No cake story: Your cousin is an absolute sweetheart. I'm glad you didn't turn your anger towards her at any point. Despite being treated like a princess by them, she still turned out as a smart, kind, confident young woman. Hold on to her and your brother. They're your real family.
That's good
No Cake Please: You and I both know that the only reason the family is upset is because the cousin joined OP in cutting them out of their lives, otherwise they wouldn't have cared. Also, the cousin should've taken that cheesecake and pied Abuelita in the face with it for daring to say what she said. Lord knows that none of them deserve anything resembling respect.
Last story: OMG they have a 😺 SNEAKTHIEF 😺 SO CUTE!!!
Yeah the Cousin said like the Golden kid to the family, and haven’t that kid cutting ties with them freak them out.
Yeah I mentioned this in my own comment, but the way that she and her cousin handled things was honestly the most patient anyone could have been in this situation lmfao.
It could have been handled MUCH worse.
Yup meet the entire pie Cheesecake thing in their face. Also yeah cats are mischievous creatures.

Of course it was the cat in the last story 😂 My cats have stolen half my socks at this point and I still can't find them after turning the house upside down lmao
Just to be safe: have you checked *in* the cat?
I have three cats (mom, daughter, son trio). I *knew* it was them stealing things off the counter but no one believed me. I borrowed a go pro to catch them. I caught the tomcat running off with an ENTIRE TOMATO and finally found where they were stashing things (including some gross AF food they had stolen). Highlights of the stash: a large Squishmallow, a powerstrip, a gel air freshner, a collapsible umbrella, and the bird from the cuckoo clock.
I been missing some of my socks and that story is making me question somethings with my 3 a holes
I have 2 cats.
They just coordinate to pull bigger heists.
@@reezokazovOh! Are the strings still going missing?
That's good
That cousin is a true golden child. The rest in all the stories I heard are simply the pytite children.
Holy. Shit. That’s disgusting if that’s true. Wow.
OH THAT'S ESPECIALLY GROSS, WOW...
Oh so they are racist as well.
Oh well that just makes this even more disgusting…
Ah…I was wondering what might be the basis. Other than them just wanting a boy. 😡
How can you be ungrateful? Tell them “I’m so grateful for being IGNORED for 15 YEARS, and treating me like I don’t matter in my own life!!!”
Tell them that they suck and don’t deserve to be your family because you are more important than they are!!!
Glad you got support from your cousin and brother.
As the cousin (because she is older) I'd have asked "grateful for what". Those adults are disgusting and I'm really glad, that the cousin is on OPs side.
“You’re lucky enough to have a piece of your cousin’s cake on your birthday! Or any cake at all!”
That was my first thought. What exactly does she have to be grateful for!!!
"You're being ungrateful" is the textbook shutdown technique for abusive/neglectful relatives when confronted.
The cat though…
The wife is going to forever poke fun at OP for this. Like "Hey, remember the time when you accused me of removing strings, but it turned out the cat stole them?" OP will never let this moment go
Tbf there was the whole "Her pants strings are completely fine" thing to give some credence to the theory.
Oh yeah if I were in the wife’s place, I would NEVER let him live this down! LOL!!

Damn
Safe money says that word got out somehow about how they've been treating OP for the last 15 years, and OP doesn't know it because she's no contact with them, so now their reputation, extremely important in these communities, is ruined.
The last story is very cute, what a lil scamp of a cat. The entire time i was tryina figure out why tf a wife would just steal his pants strings and only his pants strings but it twas just the kitty

Story 2: I'm so glad OP's cousin and little brother is supporting them. It's such a sucky situation but at least OP has some family who cares for them
I wouldn’t be surprised if OP’s toxic family members are upset that the golden kids actually care for OP instead of tossing OP to the side like the rest of them clearly did
2nd story: The cousin is an absolute Angel. I'm glad she had OP's back. And I'm glad OP stood up for herself and is doing better
It's so refreshing to have one of these 'golden child' stories (kind of) where the favoured child is supportive of the OP with the Cousin being on OP's side ❤
Some that are considered golden child are actually descent.
Story 1: on the off chance she would have even gotten to your uncle through this idiotic case, given he has no relationship with the kid and is not the father he would not have been liable either. This couldn't have possibly been easier than looking for another job or getting government aid.
This woman is insane and there's probably something preventing her from accessing aid.

Surely the relatives would see that
They clearly showed they hate OP’s very existence why would they start caring at any point
It’s amazing how the cousin was spoiled so much but still seemed like a pretty good person
What subreddit is that? I need to see this.
I re-heard that story just yesterday! Tho it's refreshing that the cousin actually defended, helped and supported OP instead of being bratty about it ❤
Kind of skeptical too about the mom trying to reconnect, glad OP didn't buy on it and moved on to start her own life. It's always hard to move out of your parents early, especially with such negligence to be celebrated on her own her whole life.
Do you have the link to the update ? Or perhaps do you remember OP's username?
@@bastbat I found his user name, black-sheep-b-boy
@@sambrown6426 I don't know in which subreddit it is, but op username is black-sheep-b-boy.
The toxic family gave them nothing to be thankful for but I’m sure in their heads OP should be thankful for being alive
lol as SOON as I heard the beginning of the string story I was like “OP probably has a cat he hasn’t mentioned yet,” I feel so vindicated lol, cats are such little weirdos like that 🤣
Story 2: This is why favourtism destroys family relationships, and I don't understand why families still do this.
The Cat Story is just a good Detox after several Bestof Stories, I really want some cat related moments right now
Kitty shenanigans are the best palate cleanser
@@PFEANYCS Very true
Okay so for context on the larger story about the Cake story:
A Quincenera (I can't really type accents here so bear with me) is basically akin to a Sweet 16 in the US.
Can't believe the cat was Garfielding it up, trying to ruin its owner's relationship 😂😂
Man the 15th Birthday or quinceañera, is VERY important for a girl, and being denied of that is just horrible.
Cousin can confirm it if they try to deny it.)
Or about a lack of gifts. "Well, what gifts did you all get for (cousin)?" (After several items listed.) "And what did you all get for (OP)?" (crickets chirping)
Once they realize that they just proved OP is right by their own words, that's when they might also realize that they should be ashamed of themselves.
I love her but. why.
Story 2: That cousin and brother are the best. Absolute golden family members in the best way
That cousin is a true friend to OP, I’m glad they have each other. Also that cat one is just so wholesome.
That's story 2
@@akl2k7 oh, yep, gonna edit it, thanks :)
That first lady should counter-sue the other lady for stealing personal and confidential documentation about her from the joint prior employer. Could maybe even throw said employer in there for good measure, just to be sure they're corporate lawyer pins it back on her as well.
Story 1. The person claiming child support should be in prison for attempted identity theft. She literally stole personal records from ex employer
😁😁😁😁
That woman could join the cousin in jail for accessing OP’s personnel information for nefarious reasons. I hope she didn’t let that go. Talk about a convoluted, premeditated plot!
Props to the cousin for always having OP’s back
Last story, I already knew what it was because I have my own little T-Rex 🤣🤣
The first story reminds me of the time a couple received a court order where their child was being sued and their child was a few months old
First story: The leaps in logic done people can go through is honestly quite fascinating to see.
Second story: Toxic people are like some cancers. You feel so much better once you cut that crap out of your life.
Third story: You have a literal cat burglar in your house😂
2:44 you can also split the cake in half with frosting, a side honoring each girl. Come on! Great job cuz!!!
Story 3 made me happy. I love ending some of these sad or infuriating topics with a wholesome story. Lol
I think this is the first time all the stories have happy resolutions!!!!
Story 1: super funny and light
Story 2: started bad, but OP turned out okay and she's still has her cousin and brother, and op said herself that she's happy now
Story 3: as a cat owner, this is super relatable (one of the cats took an old scrunchie of mine...I found it a month later under one of their beds) and super cute!!
Cousin love is absoloutely unbreakable. I’m so glad she has op’s back.
last one proves that those little cute fluffballs are indeed petty jerks 😂
Story 2 legit made me tear up. I can't imagine being treated like that my whole life. I'm glad that OP has a good support system in her cousin and brother I wish them all the best and I hope the NC makes the family reflect on what they have done and hopefully keeps them from making any similar mistakes in the future to anyone else.
So my fave part of last story is wife in the story is missing stuffed animals, jewelry, airpods...not going down a conspiracy rabbit hole accusing her husband...just vibing. Husband is missing...pj strings...wife must be at war with his pants...
Story 1: yeah I wouldn’t get an attorney. Not paying for that crap. Unless you wanna counter sue for the attorney fees
I think Slash's raw reactions are so funny and relatable.
Maybe even add, "I'll make it up to you later," even if you don't mean it-- actually, maybe I shouldn't be giving tips to abusers on how to be marginally less evil.
props to op's cousin and brother for having her back.
The cousin is GOAT. To not get spoiled after being a spotlight fot her whole life is just amazing.
Best of are my favorite because I don’t have to wait wondering how things will turn out in the future
Best of updates are, again, the best videos. Especially if its all one story
That woman in first story did all of this got all of OP information is beyond unstable.
This was probably the most wholesome/least dramatic Reddit compilation video Rslash has ever posted.
so, the thief in the last story is a true cat burglar , lol
Ok let's assume the woman in the first story would have gotten O.P.'s DNA and the test proofed her to be an biological aunt of second degree and thus her incarcerated cousin as the child fathers, how would she make claims against the uncle (even if he is the grandpa)?
