@@Tomicrat 100%, even with them being single mothers, they could potentially still see a couple years in a federal prison, SSN's, Passports, Birth Certificates, tax information, these things are absolutely no joke. Never EVER mess with the legal documents.
I’m curious though as to why? If what OP says is true and he’s been helpful, then what is it? Does he share the same values? What was the ages of OP and fiancé again? Is OP more financially stable and they only see him as a piggy bank?
@@lorilancaster5917 Yea, there is way too much missing info to really come to a conclusion... I thought it was the fact that OP and the sister were technically getting married "first" but her "shotgun" wedding makes it so SHE is married first... IDK Something is going down behind the scene that OP knows nothing about but his future wife knows everything that is going on but doesn't want him to hear about it... Only thing I DO know is OP is not going to make it to the alter with this girl and her family... Him refusing to have the sister at their wedding (reasonable) is going to force the true reason he wasn't invited and if he keeps the stance of not inviting the sister after the truth come to light, which he should, then I don't see them making it down the isle...
@@xxTC-96xxthere are so many pieces missing. For all we know the family has a practical reason and OP omitted it. Even if that’s the case his fiancé shouldn’t have lied. And he should not marry into this family.
yea that why she text her sister when Op want go in the house to let her sister know OP it coming so she knew and didn't tell OP that mean she don't have OP back and don't care cause if she did that not only she would tell OP and tell her sister she in the wrong so if OP see the comment, he to cancelled the wedding and not married her and see how Op wife still defend her sister when he said he not invite her tell you everything
Yep. I've never been, but those ballet intensives can be super expensive. However, I know that there are scholarships for them. Not for all tuition fees, but for at least some of it.
My question is, what are these $20,000 dollar ballet camps doing to justify that cost? Honestly, it just sounds like another scam to use parents love for their kids to rip them off.
@@mystikmind2005 they're often organised by some of the top ballet schools, and are often led by some of the top dance teachers in their responsive countries (sometimes in the world). Still doesn't fully justify the cost.
Story 3: The fact that Op’s fiancé was being so shady and LIED to him means she not only KNEW that her sister didn’t want you there and then LIED to you, she KNOWS she (and by extension her sister) is in the wrong. NTA Op but for gods sake: RUN AWAY
That's one thing people really need to understand : if they really feel they're in the right with their decision, why would they feel the need to lie about it?
The "no plus one" story: run, OP, RUN!! From ALL OF THEM!! You truly do sound like a kind person. Do not let these miserable people take one second more of your time, nor one ounce more of your precious energy...
Story 2: Imagine being so insisting on someone staying behind that you would do some sabotaging. Those two stepdaughters need to grow the peck up and just hire a babysitter that is NOT Jessica
And the problem is that they had a sitter but they wanted Jessica for….reasons. OP, Beth and the stepspawns have shown you that they value only their happiness at the sacrifice of others. I hope he sees this red flag and kicks them all out of his life. Jessica and OP deserve better. Also where are the baby daddies?
jessica and her dad should go on a vacation without stepmom or sisters. when they throw a fit as they will say you was going to do this with jessica. what's good for her is good for you.
Story 2: Hiding/holding someone’s passport to restrict their travel is a means of human trafficking. Those stepdaughters need consequences a bit more serious than just not going on vacation. This is a crime. This is divorce territory.
I think that’s going a bit far since they’re not in some foreign country and being isolated from going home since they are home but I get what you’re trying to say
@@iridescentsolace True, true. My perspective might be a bit biased by working an airport and all the training videos and classes about preventing human trafficking you have to watch every 3 months
Nah, stealing someone's legal documents to restrict their travel in an attempt to force them to work for you is still trafficking, just a more domestic sort.
Story 3: Man, what's with people and just not being straightforward? They could've just said that OP wasn't invited and it would be okay, but nope, they decided to lie and s**t.
They fear confrontation. Because they telling him he is not invited would 100% prompt some questions from OP. Like "What have I done to not get invited" Or to the fiancee: "Why are you completely fine with me just not being invited."
@@lorilancaster5917 Right, if I were him I'd tell the fiance something like "well it doesn't matter whether they're invited or not, because there won't be a wedding to attend"
Story 2: this would be a deal-breaker for me. They didn't do this to isolate Jessica, and it wasn't for their kids either. They just wanted cheap labor and the fact that your wife is actually defending their actions makes me believe she was in on it. I say go on vacation with judge you and your daughter and let your wife and your stepsister spend the weekend with their kids. Someone need to walk them and send your daughter is in their mother were it's only fair that she goes and they stay.
fact I got a strong feeling that this ain't the first time the stepdaughter bully Jessica and this is the first time OP caught them and see how quickly OP wife defend the stepdaughter's action that told me right there that the wife knew it was going happened and didn't said anything or worst she encouraged them to do it so I agreed that OP should divorce his wife and go on the trip with his daughter
Story about the Cat.. Yes, garlic is super toxic to cats. My daughter is in therapy due to this. She had cooked herself a pasta dish with a lot of fresh garlic. I told her to not leave the plate out because if her cat ate it, it could hurt her. Unfortunately, she fell asleep with the plate on the floor and our cat ate it. She went into toxic shock and I found her the next morning non-responsive. Emergency vet visit but we were to late. My daughter felt so guilty about the accident that she ended up considering making an attempt on her own life. She is a smart kid and came to us when she realized how she was feeling. That was a year ago. She has been seeing a therapist and has come to understand that it was a simple accident. So yes. People food is not good for pets. It can cause weight issues or kill them.
@@vernonharden yeah they can't digest many things, but many common human foods are straight up poison to cats/dogs Onions and garlic are toxic to cats Small amounts of xylitol can kill too, it's sugar replacement
Why was he so insistent on feeding the cat random crap anyway? Surely he could've brought some small piece of cat candy with him and OP would've probably been fine with that
@@RisingRevengeance Considering how bad some people can be with pets on the subreddit, something makes me think he KNOWS some of the food is poisonous and he hates the cat, but doesn't want to do it himself so he's third partying it to off the cat or reason to get rid of said cat (Like "but you aren't taking care of it properly, if you can't take care of it we need to give it to someone who does." etc). Could be over thinking it and both the Husband and his friend are just dumb though.
I think the wife from the second story deserves a higher score than that. She's had her daughters for 20+ years, and how did she raise them? They're still spoiled rotten to the core to the point they'd rather leave their children behind and make them as somebody else's problem while enabling them. OP has replied to someone saying the same thing Rslash did over having a spouse problem on top of a step-daughter problem and they're considering options and kicking the step-daughters won't work since his wife co-owns the house with him.
First Story, NTA: Why should OP help people that favored his sister over OP? If they want to get the sister into this program then THEY can find a way to get the money, not expect OP to just help and forget how they treated him Second Story, NTA: These are two grown ass women trying to force OP's daughter to skip out a vacation just so they can have a vacation and avoid spending a lot of money on a babysitter. If Beth wants the kids to he watched by someone they know, SHE can stay and watch the kids. Beth needs to stop playing favorites Third Story, NTA: OP's future SIL decided to exclude OP out of her wedding, I don’t see whats wrong with OP doing the same thing. Also, OP's fiancée is also an AH for just allowing OP to be excluded Fourth Story, NTA: Lmao they are hurting? What about OP? He basically had absent parents and had to deal with blatant favoritism. Forgiveness don’t need to be given Fifth Story, NTA: OP consistently tells Steve not to feed the cat human food but he consistently ignores OP. I mean if (and this is a big if) Steve paid for the food I’d give OP a 0.5 score but if OP's husband and OP paid then Steve is the only AH here
Story one: $20K for a summer program? How much are you willing to bet parents inflated the amount? Regardless it’s time they’ve started telling their baby girl no. Second story: I’m getting Cinderella vibes. These are adult women and are more than capable of living on their own. Single mothers do it all the time. Story three: maybe OP should cut his losses and end the engagement. It seems like he cares about the family more than they do him. Kind of curious why he’s marrying someone he’s only been dating a year? Story four: I’m likely the millionth person to say this but play stupid games win stupid prizes. OP owes them nothing Fifth story: Steve is trying to do a power play at a cat’s health at risk. There are certain things cats can’t eat like garlic. Steve and spouse need to be kicked out until they both learn manners and respect
The last story: If someone tried to murder my cat with garlic I would do worse than just yell at them and throw out their food, my golden boy is my whole world and I love him more than anything and I would really lose all my sanity if he passed due to a guest's negligence. How dare he come into OP's house, disrespect her rules and still expect to be treated like a friend?!?! Someone call Jackson Galaxy so he can knock some sense into that idiot. I could understand if he was trying to give the cat like, vegetables or fruit or something they can safely have but isn't a part of their normal carnivore diet (I give my cat watermelon and cucumber sometimes) but GARLIC???? NTA at all.
honestly in story 3 if I knew my sibling was excluding my soon to be spouse then I would either fight for them to come or say I'm not coming plain and simple so the fact that OP's Fiancée did nothing to fight against the "No plus 1's" rule is a huge red flag
I'm trying to think of reasons why. Maybe op is just a paycheck to the fiance. Maybe they're same sex and the family doesn't want that around the wedding. Or fill in same sex with different race or religion... Regardless of the reason op needs to gtfo
Story 2: The step daughters aren't just criminals for hiding Jessica's passport, they're lazy, cheap hos, too. So Cinderella with a living father and hos for ugly step sisters. SMFH.
--- On the topic of "Cinderella": In many variants if the story, the father is indeed still alive but simply far too wimpy-kind-hearted to stand-up againts his new "obligation / shotgun"-wife. For example, "Gosgrove Halls" has produced a very beautiful pantomime stop-motion film of this story where Cinderella's father lives with them. And it's one very rare 1900's production where is no "fairy godmother" but something of mix of everything from "Baba Yaga" to "Frost Lady" and so on, making this person very "rad" especially with the accompanying electric-guitar-music. ---
@PauliPaveHaarnimo wow, thank you! I've wondered if there are different versions of the fairy tales that I grew up with. This is cool to hear examples of the "Classic Cinderella Story" that vary!👏👏👏💖😉
Last story, her husband should get 4/5 because he allowed his friend to call his wife a bitch, and didn’t immediately kick him out of the house. Instead, he’s in the garage placating Steve.
Story 4: you know what gets real old real fast, when people do terrible thing to someone but then when confronted about later they constantly talk about how that person needs to have already forgiven them because it was years ago. You can't forgive someone who's not sorry, they don't get the tell you to get over it because they don't want to feel bad by apologizing, they're the ones who brought up having a bigger role you told them why they don't and you told them what they can do to make amends. But it sounds like you'll settle if they just come to the wedding as guest, and that's almost the least they can do, the lab step would be just apologizing.
Am I the only one who thinks what they did isn't terrible? He's delusional if he actually thinks his parents left him to fend for himself and be basically independent. They didn't kick him out, nor did they leave him penniless. They gave him the money they saved for his education and charged him board. What exactly is terrible about that? Poor baby (otherwise known as an adult man) had to get a job? The horror. And that same poor baby (who is still an adult man) had to pay board? Inconceivable! Except not really because those are very common and normal expectations of adults. He had a leg up on life because of the money his parents gave him and he's acting like a victim? Sorry but he sounds more than a little entitled for the way he perceives the situation. The vast majority of the population do not get the money he was lucky to receive from his parents yet he seems to think he was owed far more as if they should have funded everything so he didn't have to work and he stopped talking to his parents because of it. That and that alone is why they did things differently with their younger children which is exactly why they are in the financial position they are now. If he wasn't so bitter that he had to *gasp!* get a job as an adult to provide for himself then they would still have a relationship and his parents might actually be in a better position to enjoy the money they worked for. Ending your relationship with your parents because you don't think they gave you enough money is wild. OP is not the victim he pretends to be. I'm glad I'm not as entitled as he was and cut off my mum because she expected me to be the adult I literally was. It's literally a parents job to teach them how to be a self-sufficient adult. What the hell was he expecting? And why? Clearly he didn't get the idea that people are terrible parents if they don't completely fund their child's early adult life from reality because in reality only a very, very, very small amount of the population can afford to do that even partially. Which they again, did. I have exactly 0% sympathy for him.
During the whole time they had every opportunity to do right by OP but instead dedicated all their time and energy on do over kid. And with their huge age gap I also call BS about sister adoring OP.
For the first story: It depends on the camp, how long she’d be there for, and travel to/from. In reality, if she ever goes en pointe, it’s $100 per set of pointe shoes. Those last 3-5 days of dancing. So that’s $5200 a year. Rarely do they make a profession out of it. For the second story: That’s the definition of human trafficking. They should call the police.
Story 2 is by far the easiest divorce in the history of r/slash Since OP can cancel the vacation totally on his own i bet none if the others are paying a dime.
I think OP should charge the witches rent to pay back for money lost on the trip due to their horrible behavior. And make it clear that harassing Jessica is grounds for eviction. If wifey has problems OP can remind her that they are this way because of her and since she’s not stepping up, she can step aside.
Second story : OP should have just go to the vacation with his daughter and his wife, leaving the two step daughters in the dust (admitting the wife wasn't in on it)
Story 1: Yet another example of shitty parents who expects their son/daughter to help because they are "faaaaamily". Honestly, what OP said isn't harsh at all, these parents need a reality check and the truth that just because someone is family, you can't force them help, especially when they did f*ck all for him, blatant favoritism right there. NTA.
Last story: Before I give my dog any kind of human food, I think “can dogs eat this?” Apparently she likes cooked plantains. Husband’s friend isn’t just disrespectful, he’s dangerous.
When I was looking to buy an air freshener, I researched what scents were safe for my cat. I stood there in the aisle(it was an impulse purchase) on my phone for probably 5-10 mins looking the information up.
I did read the first story before. The comments mentioned that there are courses that have a $ 20000 fees. However they also mentioned that they have scholarships for top students, so they can try that as well
@@bibigamer502OP is a guy in the story. But I bet their daughter isn’t good at ballet but they want to support her and hope she gets good enough to be famous and is able to take care of them.
2nd story: Nta your step daughters are not mad at you for canceling the vacation their mad that you won't force your bio daughter to stay home to babysit her stepsisters kids for free labor.
Story 2: I would argue that this IS divorce worthy. The step mother and daughter are trying to gaslight and force the daughter to stay home and babysit while they enjoy a vacation without her. OP is constantly telling them to stop and they won’t accept no for an answer. Strike 1. Then they proceed to steal, yes it’s theft, her passport and rush to go to the airport forcing the daughter to stay home anyways. Strike 2. Now they’re playing the victim while blaming OP for ruining the trip and giving him the cold shoulder when they themselves are in the wrong. Strike 3. They’re out of here.
Story 3 OP please take this as the sign you need. Break it off with your fiance and dont look back. If this is is how they are treatinf you then you dont want to be part of that family. Dodge the bullet.
I wouldn't be surprised if an ex of the fiance was going to just "show" up at the wedding. Or the sister had someone she wants her to be with there to introduce them. Which makes it worse cause she probably knew about that if it was the case.
I totally agree, there was someone else wating to be the parter for her and that's why she hesitated in letting her fiancee go in. He should count his blessing and dump her a**
Story 3: NTA If someone keep on REPEATEDLY trying to give my pet people food when I have REPEATEDLY told them not to, I would have done the same thing. Does Steve just hate the cat? Because that is the only rational answer to why he keeps doing it, other than utter stupidity.
Last story: as someone who was admonished for flipping out when someone poured ALCOHOL into the shrimp and vegetable juice that I was *actively* feeding to my dog, I feel for OP.
13:09 I had a similar experience. My parents (Dad and Stepmom) kicked me out when I was 19. I had no money, no job and no place to go. My sister got pregnant at 17 so she and her baby were allowed to stay there until she was ready to go. I ended up homeless for a while, got with some bad people who did bad things to me. I had to stay at a homeless shelter until I met a roommate who stole from me
Story 2: If two grown women can't handle their 💩 and hire a babysitter for a couple of days and decide to hide the passport of their stepsister, they are absolutely trash human beings. I would say they shouldn't get a 2.5 they should probably go to a 3 on the butt-hole scale. If they and the wife think that it's appropriate to leave out the other daughter, then they are all delusional and frankly that child could probably cut contact with them fully. 🙅 No more babysitting for them period.
My issue was that there was already a sitter and the stepdaughters wanted their mom to pay Jessica double to make her babysit. It seems like they just didn’t want her there and see her as the help.
@@lorilancaster5917 i bet that the double is not even half of money in the trip, so she basically say "i pay you a miserable amount while we go to an expensive trip"(not necessary expensive but whatever). and it not just that they don't like/care about her, they don't want to parent their children and since there is a cheap alternative they go for it (guess what ladies, if you have children then you have to deal with all the bad parts that come with it , like you sacrificing your vacations)
To tell you the absolute truth ballet camps can go for up to 40k depending on the professionals working there Also garlic isn't poisonous to cats... It's fatal... It will kill their immune system in about three days so they have to avoid getting sick at all costs (they can even die to hairballs in that time because they are too weak to reject it) for about a week till they recover... Onions can cause an upset stomach and vomiting with diarrhea but garlic is almost a triple threat to their health
The BH is back! *First OP:* OP could've phrased it a _lot_ worse than he (?) did. His grandparents were trippin'. OP is NTA. *Second OP:* I also thought OP's daughter and stepdaughters were kids, not grown adults. I'm gonna go ahead and say OP is NTA before finishing the story. TF? *Third OP:* That's just cold. Yeah, OP's future SIL has the right not to invite OP to her wedding. And OP has the right to uninvite his future SIL and her husband. From the looks of it, he might need to uninvited his fiancee as well. OP is NTA. *Fourth OP:* I'm surprised OP even considered inviting his (?) parents to the wedding, or maintained contact with him (even if it's annual). OP is NTA. *Fifth OP:* Steve is wrong for disregarding OP's plea not to feed her cat human food. OP is wrong to throw away Steve's food in the trash. Controversial opinion, but I'm gonna say ESH. Granted, I'm biased because I would be very upset if someone touched my food. I didn't know garlic bread was poisonous to cats! In that case, OP is NTA.
If you’ve repeatedly told someone not to fucking feed your animals, and they keep trying to feed said animals, even trying to give said animals what may as well be *poison*, then I feel like it’s perfectly understandable to throw out their food and throw them out of your house
On story 5, I actually agree with you that it’s more an ESH. As a pet lover, I can totally understand getting frustrated at having to constantly tell a guest to not feed the animal any human food, but instead of trashing his food she could have shoved it at him and kicked him out. Her husband is certainly no better than Steve for continuing to bring someone into the home who keeps disrespecting OP. I give Steve 3 Buttholes, hubby 3.5 Buttholes, and OP 0.5 Buttholes. Like others have said, I too didn’t know that garlic is potentially lethal but I am glad to know that as I currently live with a sweet kitty. And my housemates and I all love garlic bread.
fun fact about the last story, the reason garlic is dangerous for cats is because it destroys the cat's red blood cells which can lead to anemia. this is also the case with onions.
3rd story: need an update lol. Without any other info, the fiancée is probably with him for his money. OP mentioned paying for a lot of shit, nothing about fiancée. She absolutely knew what was going on and was ok with it. Conclusion: gold digger or cheater.
@@dimsufferer9951no, his account is still up, the post/story is just deleted 😅 Unfortunately no update, but his comments on the post are still up. He’s in the comments defending his fiancé :/ I hope he gets out of that relationship, his partner had to have known he just wasn’t wanted there. Her reaction is just too sus for her to be ‘just as surprised as he was’
To clarify, yes. There are camps that expensive. I have a 9-year-old stepson with significant behavioral issues. We sent him to a special camp this summer to help him with those issues, to the tune of $27,500.
Story 2 reminds me of a story where the step dad hid the step daughters passport as a punishment for not babysitting his kids. OP should make it clear that stealing a passport is highly illegal and the step daughters are lucky OP didn't call the cops.
On the Final Story: NTA op has told steve to stop time and time again and he STILL did it even if op's husband understands ops stance he should have backed her up
About that last story, not only is garlic toxic to cats, so is ANY allum: Onions, scallions, chives, garlic, ect. It can make them violently ill. Also alcohol, so no booze for your cat either.
Garlic and onions are dangerous for cats and dogs because it causes their blood to almost literally explode (the blood cells become weak and fall apart)
I always hate stories like story 4. Why is it always okay for a family member to screw you over, be toxic, etc but the moment you retaliate or give back the same energy its suddenly a war crime? Also, very much doubt the parents are sorry. Sure, you could argue they saw the error of their ways and showed that by doing better for ops siblings. But if they were really sorry, they could've busted their asses to reach op, apologize, and do whatever they could to make it up to them. Not to mention this should've been done years ago. Because honestly, the way ops parents handled this doesn't make it look like they goofed and are trying to fix it. It makes it look like they favor the siblings over op
for perspective my elite gymnastics during my every week for the entire summer was $1,250 a week or $10,000. I didn’t even attend the best gym for 20K for a sport that’s insanely expensive makes sense especially if there are school scholarship opportunities and scouts for them there.
There's plenty of human foods cats can have, but that doesn't mean you're free to give someone else's cat whatever. My bf has cats and I'm always sure to ask him "Hey can I give them this?" When I wanna share with em, and of course always careful I don't give them anything that'd be bad for them. Op is nta even if I think throwing away the food was a little much, I can understand it
Never give food to any pet or kid if you don’t know their dietary needs and restrictions and/or have been told not by their primary caregiver. Steve is so dangerous!
HIding someone's passport? Yeah, I think that crosses not only the line to divorce, but felony as well. Idk about the US, but a passport is a pretty freaking essential document.
In the last story, I thought OP would make Steve a sandwich with cat food to demonstrate what happens when he feeds her cat human food. But when I read about the garlic... Yeah, OP should add some (light) poison to the sandwich.
the 2nd story - even the wife didn't want the grandchildren to go on the trip. Seems nobody wants those kids, perhaps the two single mothers who live at their parents' house should give them up for adoption or something. Would be best for those kids.
@radhiadeedou8286 well, if they're too young to enjoy a vacation then maybe somebody. All else fails, drop em off at a military base. They'll always take new cannon-fodder, errr "soldiers"
Not invited: NTA But you aren't going far enough. Your fiance knew what that was happening and she didn't tell you.... That means your fiancé is a liar and put her family in front of you...
Story #2: WTF? Why are you still with the evil stepmother and sisters!! You need to get rid of them. Think!! If anything happens to you then your daughter will be treated like crap. 10 to 1 that if you died now, tgey will try their best to make sure your daughter gets nothing!!
I’m not sure how accurate it is but people have commented that they’ve seen updates which OP and Jessica have moved out and he is in the process of filing for divorce.
The guy feeding the food to the cat makes me furious. Alot of "human" food is downright toxic and DEADLY to cats. One infamous food that can give cats a death sentence is onions, if that man fed anything even with the SLIGHTEST hint of onion to that cat it's gone, and I'd hope OP gives him what he would deserve in that moment.
Story 4: they made mistakes but they still didn’t apologize within those 16 years and how they gave Ops siblings parental treatment when they’ve turned 18.
I agree with you on that last story. The fact that the husband continuously let the guy feed the cat knowing how much it upset his wife. He could’ve easily made it not get that far. He let it get that far.
I like that the grandparents only had issue with how he phrased it. My grandma would've told me to say "sorry that what I said hurt you." Because you're not sorry you said it, just that they didn't like it.
Second story, they produced those kids, so they can look after them. Take your daughter on the trip and strongly can getting rid of the wife and her cling ons.
Went to check out the wedding story. The account itself is active but he deleted the Wedding story. You can still see his comments about it when going to the Comments tab. Essentially no one gave him an answer as to why he was excluded, not even his Fiancée. They’ve been telling him not to look too much into it or maybe they just didn’t know you well enough. Apparently they knew him well enough to book a venue last minute for their son. There’s nothing else about the story on his account. I home he called off the wedding.
If I was OP from the wedding story, I’d be questioning my own marriage because if someone did that to my partner, I would 100% not stand for it and I sure wouldn’t go to the event that they weren’t invited to. He needs to evaluate his girlfriend.
Story 2 is immediate divorce territory because it sounds like a constant thing and not likely to change after “one overreaction”. That (hopefully ex) wife and stepdaughters need a wake up call
Depending on the location and length of the camp, I can see $20,000 for the camp. My daughter received an invitation to a 2 week performing arts camp that would have cost $7,800.
@@Justice237 I'm sorry, you're right. I went back and looked again and it would have been about $7,300 for her to attend all four sessions over the summer. $1700 per session plus fees and transportation to and from the camp.
Story 5 is just like that song "It's finally me and you and you and me just us and your friend STEVE dododo dodododo Steve" And garlic are poisonous to dogs and cats.. like... Okay if you want to feed the cat you have to ASK the owner first. And serching for info about if it's deadly to them or not before feeding something is a must
Here's a diff pov: Story 3: the fiance was cheating and brought a different plus one. She convinced her sister and family to keep it from you cause they all want her to marry this "other" guy
The way the husband values Steve more than his wife makes me suspicious that the two guys are a couple, and just aren't admitting it. Children were not mentioned, I wonder if there are any?
“But we don’t have the money because we were helping your siblings!” “Good. Enjoy your investment.” The last story - I had to educate my niece this weekend when she was trying to feed our new kitten a peanut from her peanut bar. I told her that the kitten can’t eat that, and cats are obligate carnivores. I also told her that we rarely give our cats any type of people food - maybe a little shred of chicken every now and again, but that’s about as far as we go. And guess what? She stopped after that. If she kept on, she wouldn’t be allowed over anymore. So…I don’t know what the excuse is for an adult that should long know better after multiple warnings.
you can't ? interesting. It's no issue for me. I can't "imagine" / "remember" smell in my mind though. it's fascinating how everyone mind work differently
Story 2: the vacation. I would 100% rebook the vacation, but only for Dad and jessica. Let the wife and 2 step daughters stay at home and look after the kids like they are obligated to do as parents.
So I googled it and it turns out for the first story, yes there are programs for ballet that cost that much. Actually that’s rather cheap, it can cost up to 100,000 dollars and that’s the expected price
3rd story: NTA. "Maybe you did something to upset them and thats why you are not invited" ok, then they now have done something to upset him 😊 therefore: uninvited! (as per the fiancee's own words 🤭🤣)
The OP in the 2nd Story need to have a serious sit-down talk with Jessica because something tells me that the stepsisters & wife who hid the passport (let's face it, she was most likely in on it) & constantly demand Jessica to babysit the stepsisters' crotch goblins might just be the scratch on the surface of some very deep abuse going on. Also, why does it feel like at least 25% of the unreasonable demands that the offenders on this subreddit can be shut down by asking, "Then why don't _you_ do it?"
i must say that op in the last story is way more patient that i am, as a cat lover owner myself i just going to tell you twice not to do things that an put my cat in danger, the first one because you probably dont know and the second one just to make sure, if you do the same thing a third time you get a fist to the face and you are banned from my house
Last story. Agree on the score. Garlic is literally toxic to cats. If someone tried to poison my cat, I would definitely throw the food away. I get that he may have just been trying to feed the cute kitty. Doesn't matter. You don't give a toddler a sip of antifreeze just because they beg. Same thing with a cat.
Garlic could be toxic to cats & dogs, so I bet if the cat fell Ill he wouldn’t pay anything towards the vet bill, even though he put the cat in hospital.
for the 3rd story: i have a hunch that maybe it wasnt just as simple as the sister treating him like a door mat but more of her maybe treating the kind gestures as "being flirty and showing intrest" and im sure she assumed and the fiance was jealous too. Kindness of a man can tend to be seen as "flirty" to alot of wemon cus its a typical stereotypical thing they think is happening. (its the same the other way around)
The story about op's daughter who had her passport taken is that the father and his daughter need to move out and the dad needs to divorce his wife and take the house from her and her daughter's
Wait OP was paid though in story 4, he was given money for college. Now for the rent money, my parents did this to me to help me learn to manage money better and just help out, the question is whether or not it was an insane amount or whether OP simply got mad at his parents for expecting him to help out. Considering they did actually give him a college fund I actually lean towards the parents side on this.
I think those two *20+* year old women need to be informed that passport theft is a serious federal crime.
I hope he presses charges against them along with filing for divorce. Heck! Since Jessica is legally an adult she can press charges

First story: I was a ballerina for 12 years, there are absolutely $20,000 ballet camps. I was invited to a couple and obviously couldn't afford it
Yep. I've never been, but those ballet intensives can be super expensive. However, I know that there are scholarships for them. Not for all tuition fees, but for at least some of it.
I'm sure there are also camps that are not that expensive for those who like ballet but can't afford the expensive ones.
My question is, what are these $20,000 dollar ballet camps doing to justify that cost? Honestly, it just sounds like another scam to use parents love for their kids to rip them off.

They fear confrontation. Because they telling him he is not invited would 100% prompt some questions from OP. Like "What have I done to not get invited" Or to the fiancee: "Why are you completely fine with me just not being invited."

Agree , people food is not good for pets at all
Cats are obligate carnivores, so actually they either don't or can't properly plant based foods, like us humans can.

I think the wife from the second story deserves a higher score than that. She's had her daughters for 20+ years, and how did she raise them? They're still spoiled rotten to the core to the point they'd rather leave their children behind and make them as somebody else's problem while enabling them. Story four: I’m likely the millionth person to say this but play stupid games win stupid prizes. OP owes them nothing
Fifth story: Steve is trying to do a power play at a cat’s health at risk.
Story 3: OP's sister clearly values her relationship with her sister more than their marriage.
honestly in story 3 if I knew my sibling was excluding my soon to be spouse then I would either fight for them to come or say I'm not coming plain and simple so the fact that OP's Fiancée did nothing to fight against the "No plus 1's" rule is a huge red flag
I'm trying to think of reasons why. Maybe op is just a paycheck to the fiance. Maybe they're same sex and the family doesn't want that around the wedding. Or fill in same sex with different race or religion... Regardless of the reason op needs to gtfo
The thing is that it only applied to him, so i bet that there was a plus one for the fiance and thats why they did not want him to come.

On the topic of "Cinderella":
In many variants if the story, the father is indeed still alive but simply far too wimpy-kind-hearted to stand-up againts his new "obligation / shotgun"-wife.
For example,
"Gosgrove Halls" has produced a very beautiful pantomime stop-motion film of this story where Cinderella's father lives with them.
And it's one very rare 1900's production where is no "fairy godmother" but something of mix of everything from "Baba Yaga" to "Frost Lady" and so on, making this person very "rad" especially with the accompanying electric-guitar-music.

@PauliPaveHaarnimo wow, thank you! I've wondered if there are different versions of the fairy tales that I grew up with.

Yes! Exactly! Thank you! Finally SOMEONE acknowledges how this husband is completely failing OP in their marriage!!
The first parents in the story are absolutely horrid for even asking for 1,000
During the whole time they had every opportunity to do right by OP but instead dedicated all their time and energy on do over kid. And with their huge age gap I also call BS about sister adoring OP.

@@silverselkie1692only thing they should ask of OP is forgiveness after they provide atonement. And let’s be honest it won’t happen
I thought his response was fantastic though.
Also only a very small lucky few actually are selected for becoming professional ballet dancers. Generally the very best of the very best.
Story 2 is by far the easiest divorce in the history of r/slash
Since OP can cancel the vacation totally on his own i bet none if the others are paying a dime.
I think OP should charge the witches rent to pay back for money lost on the trip due to their horrible behavior. And make it clear that harassing Jessica is grounds for eviction. If wifey has problems OP can remind her that they are this way because of her and since she’s not stepping up, she can step aside.
If they already had a baby sitter, it wasn't about them needing childcare. I think they just wanted an excuse to exclude her.
Second story : OP should have just go to the vacation with his daughter and his wife, leaving the two step daughters in the dust (admitting the wife wasn't in on it)
And stepdaughters can babysit their own kids since they already dismissed the current sitter.
skip the wife as well as the step daughters, tbh
That would've been the right thing. Maybe he didn't want to deal with even more drama (which is saying something here).
Nah, not the wife considering she supported the step daughters.
Nah, not the wife, she can stay and receive divorce paper instead!

I stopped talking to one of my best friends because her girlfriend kept feeding my cats human food after three years of being asked not to
fun fact about the last story, the reason garlic is dangerous for cats is because it destroys the cat's red blood cells which can lead to anemia. this is also the case with onions.

There's a world of difference between acknowledgment and atonement parents who say they acknowledge well that doesn't mean s***
Story 3 nta if your fiance won't change on this then you might want to call off the wedding.
for perspective my elite gymnastics during my every week for the entire summer was $1,250 a week or $10,000. I didn’t even attend the best gym for 20K for a sport that’s insanely expensive makes sense especially if there are school scholarship opportunities and scouts for them there.
"We can't give you money. We're in debt from giving money to your siblings."
The lack of self awareness is astounding.
You think people are lining up to adopt kids? People want new born babies
@radhiadeedou8286 well, if they're too young to enjoy a vacation then maybe somebody. All else fails, drop em off at a military base. They'll always take new cannon-fodder, errr "soldiers"
Giving garlic bread to a cat is basically poisoning it. She just saved her cat their. Ban Steve, if the husband doesn't listen, ditch the husband.
I was all ready to mention how dangerous garlic is for cats lol
Honestly based on the info, they don't have to, OP sounds spoiled
I agree with you on that last story. The fact that the husband continuously let the guy feed the cat knowing how much it upset his wife. He could’ve easily made it not get that far. He let it get that far.
Feed Steve some cat food, then.
Feed Steve to the cat. That was dark I know😮
I like that the grandparents only had issue with how he phrased it. My grandma would've told me to say "sorry that what I said hurt you." Because you're not sorry you said it, just that they didn't like it.
Second story, they produced those kids, so they can look after them. Take your daughter on the trip and strongly can getting rid of the wife and her cling ons.
The two stepdaughters who hid the passport would be kicked out of my house. I would NOT allow someone who would do that living under my roof.
Man this must be like the divorce special because so many of these stories are stuff I'd leave over. Like..... WOW. The disrespect is unreal.
I literally just woke up and I get to start my day with rslash this is great
If I was OP from the wedding story, I’d be questioning my own marriage because if someone did that to my partner, I would 100% not stand for it and I sure wouldn’t go to the event that they weren’t invited to. He needs to evaluate his girlfriend.
Story 2 is immediate divorce territory because it sounds like a constant thing and not likely to change after “one overreaction”. That (hopefully ex) wife and stepdaughters need a wake up call
The next time ur husbands friend comes, offer to make them dinner and give steve cat food so that he can finally share with your cat
Depending on the location and length of the camp, I can see $20,000 for the camp. My daughter received an invitation to a 2 week performing arts camp that would have cost $7,800.
I did some research into ballet summer intensives, even the most prestigious schools don't charge more than $5000. $20000 is ridiculous
And if the sister was that good, she could have got a scholarship.
@@Justice237 I'm sorry, you're right. I went back and looked again and it would have been about $7,300 for her to attend all four sessions over the summer. $1700 per session plus fees and transportation to and from the camp.
Now I'm wondering if the guy in the last story is repeatedly trying to poison the cat because he secretly hates cats.
2nd story: the step sisters are the reason that men avoid single mothers.....
Story 5 is just like that song
"It's finally me and you and you and me just us and your friend STEVE dododo dodododo Steve"
And garlic are poisonous to dogs and cats.. like... Okay if you want to feed the cat you have to ASK the owner first. And serching for info about if it's deadly to them or not before feeding something is a must
Story 2: as the unwanted stepchild, LEAVE HER. my only grace was that my step siblings loved me.
“But we don’t have the money because we were helping your siblings!”
“Good. Enjoy your investment.”
The last story - I had to educate my niece this weekend when she was trying to feed our new kitten a peanut from her peanut bar. So…I don’t know what the excuse is for an adult that should long know better after multiple warnings.
i wish i could customise my inside thinking voice because i’d make it RSlash’s voice if i could
you can't ? interesting. It's no issue for me. I can't "imagine" / "remember" smell in my mind though. it's fascinating how everyone mind work differently
I can do his male Karen voice in my head.
Whenever I read AITA posts now it's always in his voice
Story 2: the vacation. I would 100% rebook the vacation, but only for Dad and jessica. Let the wife and 2 step daughters stay at home and look after the kids like they are obligated to do as parents.
First story.... Parents: "You have more money than you need!" Who the H are they to decide that!? They sure are happy to spend someone else's money. 🤨
For the selling forgiveness story
"Batman, its not about the money: *awkward pause* "its about sending a message
Also, why does it feel like at least 25% of the unreasonable demands that the offenders on this subreddit can be shut down by asking, "Then why don't _you_ do it?"
story 1: If you refuse. You are a champ.
Story 2: not the ahole
i must say that op in the last story is way more patient that i am, as a cat lover owner myself i just going to tell you twice not to do things that an put my cat in danger, the first one because you probably dont know and the second one just to make sure, if you do the same thing a third time you get a fist to the face and you are banned from my house
Husband is the problem in the last story. The husband more than likely told Steve it was okay to feed the cat as long as his wife doesn't see.
Garlic could be toxic to cats & dogs, so I bet if the cat fell Ill he wouldn’t pay anything towards the vet bill, even though he put the cat in hospital.
Story 2: op should definitely take his daughter on a trip alone! Get a lawyer and look into divorce
for the 3rd story: i have a hunch that maybe it wasnt just as simple as the sister treating him like a door mat but more of her maybe treating the kind gestures as "being flirty and showing intrest" and im sure she assumed and the fiance was jealous too.
