My brother is the baby of the family as he was born last and is the only boy. So because of that my mom really babied him as a kid. It was funny though because he joined the football team when he was around 13 and all the sudden all that behavior stopped😅 and he’s been different ever since. My mom still thinks of him as the baby of the family, but he’s grown up and married with a baby now and doesn’t act like a mamas boy anymore lol.
My Brit brother living in the USA, volunteered to coach lacrosse at the local high-school, having been a high-level player. He soon suspended the 'star player' for lack of on-field and training discipline. The kid was a know-all 'Star' and had been treated as such. My brother was practically attacked in the car-park by many of the parents. 'He's our star player!' Rick just said, 'Tough. Until he learns, he's on the bench.' It was such an issue that the School Board became involved, the Community Leaders, all sorts. He was ostracised in some local stores. It went totally crazy until Rick just walked into the School office and quit, leaving them with ringing ears and no coach.. Many of the other players, though, were pleased he took the stance.

If I were the ref of the coach I would WANT someone recording this. So when the kid and parents come up with some BS statement that the kid was assaulted or something then I'm protected.
@@Paulinrnke One can argue as to whether it's cool to upload this to TH-cam, but I've seen kids tell their parents that a coach or a trainer hit them or pushed them or whatever when they did not in any way. Still, instantly that coach/trainer is under scrutiny and without any proof they'll be treated like a pariah. So if a parent is filming the game like this and there is an issue that arises that involves discipline, then keep it going.
My husband coached youth leagues for 21 years. I can tell you what he would have done in order. 1. Told the kid to get to the sideline immediately. 2. If he refused he would inform him that if he didn't he would not play for the next few games.. 3. If the kid refused and the parents were present he would have asked them to get him off the field, He would have told them they have 5 seconds to get him off the field or he was off the team. 4. If they didn't and although it would have hurt the other kids for something they didn't do, he would have stopped and forfeited the game AND the kid would be off the team. 5. Then on the sidelines and very LOUDLY he would have thanked ALL the other kids for being gentlemen, playing with sportsmanship and thanked their parents for supporting their children, and explained why he did it. A little public shaming of both the kid and his parents would maybe do some good. 6. Then because the other kids were probably feeling down, he would have taken all of them minus the brat, to go get ice cream. 7. If the parents went to the league, they would have gotten nowhere because my husband was usually League or Asst. League Director. To those who think the coaches should have just dragged him off the field: although that would be feel so good and teach the brat a lesson, unfortunately the same assholes who raised this kid would also probably sue you at the drop of a hat and the legal system being what it is, would probably have thrown my husband in jail.
Oh goodness, if assholes raised this child, as you suggest, how could MORE ADULTS ACTING LIKE ASSHOLES in any way help the situation? This child needs help with coping, quite possibly nothing his parents ever taught him. Embarrassing or physically hurting a child does not teach a child how to cope. I was just saying in another comment... one of the biggest challenges of getting someone with a concussion to come with you to a doctor to get it checked out is that they're completely out of it and typically refuse. No matter who they are.

But I do like how you pulled the "mental issues" card, but you should know that there are leagues for special needs children that exist for that exact reason so I'm gonna have to say a mental issue is most likely not the case here. This is most likely a case of a kid who got upset because he was knocked over in "FLAG FOOTBALL" and decided to try the old "hold your breath"(metaphorically speaking) method that children use when they don't get what they want. I see this behavior on the regular through my own childs sports games. A lot of times, not always, that behavior is exhibited from the children who's parents have been catering to their childs every needs and wants, for example...I heard a high school parent arguing with the football coach over playing time because their son was 3rd string...the parent thought that everyone should get a fair and equal amount of playing time...regardless of skill. In which case... anyone with half a brain knows that will only lead to entitlement issues accompanied by a lack of desire to compete in the real world which leads to poor work performance, expectations of rewards without work(more entitlement), and can even lead to depression, anxiety, loss of self worth, and severe health issues brought on by all of the above. Either way...people need to be smarter when the are dealing with children(you're right about that), but be smarter by saying "No" when no is warranted, and not giving in because the child decides they want something different and because it's just easier to say "yes". Could you imagine if this child was allowed to behave this way his whole life into adulthood...now imagine him on an NFL field at the age of 24 pulling this same thing because nobody corrected it 12 years earlier...I can see it, and I'm not even psychic. You can look at some professional players and their actions on the field now and tell they were always told "yes" to everything they wanted...this behavior may work for a select few, but the majority are hit with a brick wall when they make it to real life scenarios in their adulthood

I coached 6-8 yo girls fast pitch and had a girl act like this….but only when her mom wasn’t present. Her dad enabled it, it was always everyone else’s fault. One day she threw a fit on the field when she was called out, forgetting her mom was watching. We all watched as mom walked calmly onto the field, spanked the hell out of her, grabbed her arm, and yanked her off the field. Then she made her sit and watch the rest of the game, and afterwards made her apologize to the coaches, the players, AND the parents. It was EPIC. I wished someone was filming it!
To be honest, my lad was a little bit similar up to the age of 11...tantrums, storming off etc but all of a sudden he gets it now and he is a model player and showing some useful leadership qualities. Some kids’ brains are scrambled up forever, hopefully this guy will grow up soon and join in like the others

I had really embarrassing moment happen where a teacher straight ran my ass over cuz I was dumd and stood right in the middle of(softball btw lol) the bases. Could he have run around me? Sure but I just took it as a lesson and never stood between bases again. It's the way you act after things happen to you.
Concussions cause serious confusion and random agitation. Especially when trying to get someone who's just been knocked out for 8 full seconds and had trouble getting up... to listen or do anything. Best thing to do is keep your responses to them very basic, not question them, not disagree with them, give them time and grab something for them to drink. It can take 30 minutes to a few hours to days with full concussions. Get them checked out by a doctor if they're not with it that night or if they have other symptoms.
I never played flag as a child so I don't know how my coach would have handled that situation. But my head coach would have grabbed us by the face mask and dragged us off the field.

So I would have to argue against your opinion....while yes, coach's are generally more motivated to coach up their own child, they're also more motivated to exaggerate their childs abilities in hopes for elevated status in such sport in the future.
The ref and coaches should have THANKED you for filming. In this day and age there would be major legal problems when "I always get my way Johnny" tells "My kid gets a ribbon mommy" that coaches were meanies who manhandled and assaulted him for no reason...
He doesn't need to film and upload the kid misbehaving, it's a child and it is not right. In a school game there are lots of witnesses in case you need them for legal reasons.

I coached a u16 travel soccer team and I had a couple “kids” even though they are teenagers act like this. Unfortunately their parents allow it to happen and anytime I did something about it (never anything like dragging them off the field) the parents would talk to the president of the club and i would get personal visits like I was in the wrong. It blows my mind parents condone their kids behavior
I played soccer for a few weeks, decided it wasnt for me and played Rugby for the nex 20 years, maybe that kid would be better suited in playing some other game.
You can tell he's not getting any discipline at home. I wouldn't tolerate that mess for one minute. Hardships bring growth and strength. He's obviously been babied too much. You can love a kid to their own destruction. You have to bend them and shape them into becoming respectful and mature. Maybe he grew out of this.
At that age I could run about 15 mph, but my dad could run about 18 mph.. keep yourself in check so you don't have to learn the consequences. I never did, because I never gave him a reason.
My parents always gave my teachers permission to whoop my ass if I misbehaved at the beginning of every school year...and got regular ass whoopins at home...and I absolutely can't thank them enough for doing so

My son had a teammate like this- when things didn’t go his way he would cry on the mound, when he struck out he would cry back to the dugout. He was 12. The tantrums were disgusting.
I coached a kid like that in baseball . He was a very good athlete , but a head case . He threw at a batters head , and when he was disciplined /// mon and dad said ... " if he really wanted to hurt the batter - he would have :". I quit coaching right there unless the kid was removed from my team . ... 'I was coach , not the warden in Sing Sing HE WAS removed , and the parents took him out of sports ... he is now ... 20 years later ... doing 5 to 10 at Colorado State .

"flag football" started being a thing when i was a freshmen in high school, about the same time they stopped using dodgeballs. And holy shit, more kids like this kid became prevalent. "we couldnt play football" at recess, but dammit we did anyways, even in winter. let kids be kids FFS. Kids learn alot more from getting wrecked than being coddled
I got tagged from 5ft in the head by a dodgeball, my 1st concussion. I puked my guts out I was so dizzy. Never played dodgeball again. However I got a couple more concussions playing tackle football with no pads or helmets. Puked after all of em.
We played flag football in gym class back in the 70's so I don't know WTF you are talking about. Flag football teaches kids the exact same things that regular football does without the tackling.

Actually it's not necessarily that simple. You're filming a minor without their parents'consent. When kids are involved in school or sports they have to sign whether or not they allow that organization to take photos/videos and use them. Depending on the state this guy could end up getting sued. The argument could be that he's publicly embarassing their child with material obtained without their consent. When minors are involved the entitled opinion of "I can film what I want" can get you in trouble. Especially if the kid happens to be a foster kid with Family Services, that can land you in a court with a judge that probably won't look to favorably on you
He can film a flag football game that his kid is participating in, & there’s nothing wrong with documenting an escalating situation in case something illegal occurs😐 it should be encouraged not discouraged 👁🌍

Who does NOT beat him or drag him off the field. As a youth coach myself, I see about a million things wrong here, and only one is the kid whose feelings are hurt. You don't know what's going on in that kid's home. He will leave the field when he is even more embarrassed by having the game stopped on his account. Then he doesn't go back in, doesn't play the next game, doesn't practice -- or whatever real-world consequences you want. Kids pout. It happens. That was handled SO badly by his coaches.

I was forced to play flag for two years before my mom would let me play real football, when she saw the league rules about having a mouth piece she ended up getting me one of those massive mouth guards with the shield looking thing on the front and it made me look so stupid.
Stephen Banks when I played youth football when I was like 10, I got pushed down and someone fell on me and almost hurt my neck pretty bad. So my mom bought me this big neck roll pad that was like half the size of my shoulder pads. It was so big, the coach had to help screw it in. I looked like a goddamn juggernaut

I've never been a coach, but I would DEFINITELY let them know their parenting wasn't working to make this kid successful and tell them why he was being suspended and if he did it again he was off the team. Notice NO parents ran onto that field to drag him off. I'd have been on that field like a speeding bullet and yanked his hair out to drag him off the field. @@Paulinrnke One can argue as to whether it's cool to upload this to TH-cam, but I've seen kids tell their parents that a coach or a trainer hit them or pushed them or whatever when they did not in any way. Still, instantly that coach/trainer is under scrutiny and without any proof they'll be treated like a pariah. So if a parent is filming the game like this and there is an issue that arises that involves discipline, then keep it going.

My husband coached youth leagues for 21 years. I can tell you what he would have done in order.
1. Told the kid to get to the sideline immediately.
2. If he refused he would inform him that if he didn't he would not play for the next few games..
3. If the kid refused and the parents were present he would have asked them to get him off the field, He would have told them they have 5 seconds to get him off the field or he was off the team.
4. If they didn't and although it would have hurt the other kids for something they didn't do, he would have stopped and forfeited the game AND the kid would be off the team.
5. Then on the sidelines and very LOUDLY he would have thanked ALL the other kids for being gentlemen, playing with sportsmanship and thanked their parents for supporting their children, and explained why he did it. A little public shaming of both the kid and his parents would maybe do some good.
6. Then because the other kids were probably feeling down, he would have taken all of them minus the brat, to go get ice cream.
7. If the parents went to the league, they would have gotten nowhere because my husband was usually League or Asst. League Director.
To those who think the coaches should have just dragged him off the field: although that would be feel so good and teach the brat a lesson, unfortunately the same assholes who raised this kid would also probably sue you at the drop of a hat and the legal system being what it is, would probably have thrown my husband in jail.
Oh goodness, if assholes raised this child, as you suggest, how could MORE ADULTS ACTING LIKE ASSHOLES in any way help the situation? This child needs help with coping, quite possibly nothing his parents ever taught him. Embarrassing or physically hurting a child does not teach a child how to cope.

behavior always happens for a reason ( not necessarily poor parenting, btw). Firm limits are critical. It is amazing how difficult it is for most adults to understand how to enforce this WITHOUT behaving like assholes. Enforcing rules can be impersonal, if the ADULTS in charge can hang on to their adulthood.

I was just saying in another comment... one of the biggest challenges of getting someone with a concussion to come with you to a doctor to get it checked out is that they're completely out of it and typically refuse. No matter who they are.

But I do like how you pulled the "mental issues" card, but you should know that there are leagues for special needs children that exist for that exact reason so I'm gonna have to say a mental issue is most likely not the case here. This is most likely a case of a kid who got upset because he was knocked over in "FLAG FOOTBALL" and decided to try the old "hold your breath"(metaphorically speaking) method that children use when they don't get what they want. I see this behavior on the regular through my own childs sports games. A lot of times, not always, that behavior is exhibited from the children who's parents have been catering to their childs every needs and wants, for example...I heard a high school parent arguing with the football coach over playing time because their son was 3rd string...the parent thought that everyone should get a fair and equal amount of playing time...regardless of skill. In which case... anyone with half a brain knows that will only lead to entitlement issues accompanied by a lack of desire to compete in the real world which leads to poor work performance, expectations of rewards without work(more entitlement), and can even lead to depression, anxiety, loss of self worth, and severe health issues brought on by all of the above. Either way...people need to be smarter when the are dealing with children(you're right about that), but be smarter by saying "No" when no is warranted, and not giving in because the child decides they want something different and because it's just easier to say "yes". Could you imagine if this child was allowed to behave this way his whole life into adulthood...now imagine him on an NFL field at the age of 24 pulling this same thing because nobody corrected it 12 years earlier...I can see it, and I'm not even psychic. You can look at some professional players and their actions on the field now and tell they were always told "yes" to everything they wanted...this behavior may work for a select few, but the majority are hit with a brick wall when they make it to real life scenarios in their adulthood

I coached 6-8 yo girls fast pitch and had a girl act like this….but only when her mom wasn’t present. Her dad enabled it, it was always everyone else’s fault. One day she threw a fit on the field when she was called out, forgetting her mom was watching. We all watched as mom walked calmly onto the field, spanked the hell out of her, grabbed her arm, and yanked her off the field. Then she made her sit and watch the rest of the game, and afterwards made her apologize to the coaches, the players, AND the parents. It was EPIC. I wished someone was filming it!

To be honest, my lad was a little bit similar up to the age of 11...tantrums, storming off etc but all of a sudden he gets it now and he is a model player and showing some useful leadership qualities. I had really embarrassing moment happen where a teacher straight ran my ass over cuz I was dumd and stood right in the middle of(softball btw lol) the bases. Could he have run around me? Sure but I just took it as a lesson and never stood between bases again. It's the way you act after things happen to you.

Concussions cause serious confusion and random agitation. Especially when trying to get someone who's just been knocked out for 8 full seconds and had trouble getting up... to listen or do anything.
Best thing to do is keep your responses to them very basic, not question them, not disagree with them, give them time and grab something for them to drink. It can take 30 minutes to a few hours to days with full concussions. Get them checked out by a doctor if they're not with it that night or if they have other symptoms.
I hope he was reminded of this every day of his entire school life.

@@andyb4071 debatable...as I've had experience on teams where coach's sons were treated like God's, and even had one coach's son and coach get caught lining 1st string with all his friends....some of which didn't even wanna play come game time, but rather just enjoyed wearing the uniform....which upon discovery led to us forfeiting an entire season before our 3rd game of the yr. So I would have to argue against your opinion....while yes, coach's are generally more motivated to coach up their own child, they're also more motivated to exaggerate their childs abilities in hopes for elevated status in such sport in the future.
I hope the kid can overcome the issues he has at the moment, and live a Humble life .

The ref and coaches should have THANKED you for filming. In this day and age there would be major legal problems when "I always get my way Johnny" tells "My kid gets a ribbon mommy" that coaches were meanies who manhandled and assaulted him for no reason...
He doesn't need to film and upload the kid misbehaving, it's a child and it is not right. In a school game there are lots of witnesses in case you need them for legal reasons.

I coached a u16 travel soccer team and I had a couple “kids” even though they are teenagers act like this. Unfortunately their parents allow it to happen and anytime I did something about it (never anything like dragging them off the field) the parents would talk to the president of the club and i would get personal visits like I was in the wrong. It blows my mind parents condone their kids behavior
I played soccer for a few weeks, decided it wasnt for me and played Rugby for the nex 20 years, maybe that kid would be better suited in playing some other game.

"flag football" started being a thing when i was a freshmen in high school, about the same time they stopped using dodgeballs. And holy shit, more kids like this kid became prevalent. I got tagged from 5ft in the head by a dodgeball, my 1st concussion. I puked my guts out I was so dizzy. Never played dodgeball again. However I got a couple more concussions playing tackle football with no pads or helmets. Puked after all of em.
We played flag football in gym class back in the 70's so I don't know WTF you are talking about. Flag football teaches kids the exact same things that regular football does without the tackling.
This is why I'm no longer coaching sports at the high school and youth level. Having to deal with kids like this are becoming more and more prevalent every season, with parents enabling them. Disgusting generation.

I straightened the hell out of after that lol I’m not saying that’s what this kid needs but that’s what this kid needs.

Actually it's not necessarily that simple. You're filming a minor without their parents'consent. When kids are involved in school or sports they have to sign whether or not they allow that organization to take photos/videos and use them.
Depending on the state this guy could end up getting sued. The argument could be that he's publicly embarassing their child with material obtained without their consent.
When minors are involved the entitled opinion of "I can film what I want" can get you in trouble. Especially if the kid happens to be a foster kid with Family Services, that can land you in a court with a judge that probably won't look to favorably on you
He can film a flag football game that his kid is participating in, & there’s nothing wrong with documenting an escalating situation in case something illegal occurs😐 it should be encouraged not discouraged 👁🌍

"Just grab him, you're the adult!" -- What? SUCH bad advice. By 2:00 into this video, if this refuses to leave the field, you send all players, both sides over to the sidelines and summon the parent. Who does NOT beat him or drag him off the field. As a youth coach myself, I see about a million things wrong here, and only one is the kid whose feelings are hurt. You don't know what's going on in that kid's home. He will leave the field when he is even more embarrassed by having the game stopped on his account. Then he doesn't go back in, doesn't play the next game, doesn't practice -- or whatever real-world consequences you want. Kids pout. It happens. That was handled SO badly by his coaches.

I was forced to play flag for two years before my mom would let me play real football, when she saw the league rules about having a mouth piece she ended up getting me one of those massive mouth guards with the shield looking thing on the front and it made me look so stupid.
Stephen Banks when I played youth football when I was like 10, I got pushed down and someone fell on me and almost hurt my neck pretty bad. So my mom bought me this big neck roll pad that was like half the size of my shoulder pads. It was so big, the coach had to help screw it in. I looked like a goddamn juggernaut
