    Great call by the assistant. The coach doesn't understand the laws of the game. Even though the attacker didn't touch it, he impacted the goalkeeper's ability to play the ball by being in his way and making a movement towards the ball. Therefore, offside is the correct decision.
    Also great job by the ref to gain control of the match by ejecting the coach and talking to the other coach to make sure everyone else quieted down. Top marks for this ref crew in my eyes.

      Nonsense. The ball bounced over the GK's head. He was never saving it

    • @TylerMcComb18

      doesn't matter, the offside player made an advance on the ball, which makes the offside call the correct call.

      Not talking about the play of the kids...that's a mute point....That coach was way out of line. Doesn't matter if the ref made a bad call. You've never made a bad call? They are little kids for Chrissakes, not professionals. They knock each other down every other play. Police should never have to be called in because of asshole parents actions. How would you have handled it Mr. FIFA?? Not only did that coach get thrown out, he incited the other parents until a policeman had to be called in! You're a moron.

    • @slapjohnson2808
      @slapjohnson2808 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Freshavocado, this coach also has to know he is setting an example for the kids and parents. There are repercussions for his type of behavior. He had his say and the ref acknowledged it but he kept on and on. Instead, this douche bag coach incited the other parents on a judgement call (whether it was wrong or not in your opinion I don't know). I honestly feel that he needed to go...so you say you would have stood there and took that abuse?? Well then I applaud you for that! Any type of outburst like this one from a coach or parent needs to be dealt with in a timely manner, in any sport. Did the ref have a quick trigger? I don't think so. Others like yourself will take that screaming and yelling. You are only teaching the kids that his type of behavior will be put up with. I side with the ref on this one.

  • @TheRailwaymen
    @TheRailwaymen 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Referee here. The ref was correct in his decision. You do not need to touch the ball in an offside position to be offside, there are more offenses that can warrant an offside call. I believe in this video, it was the impeding of the vision of the goalkeeper by the offside player.

    Correct decision from the assistant. This is quoted from the Fifa Laws of the Game 2017.
    -> preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision
    The player is standing right infront of the Goalkeeper, initially between him and the ball and very clearly influences his ability to stop the shot.
    Great decision and the referee handled the parent extremely well.

    • @kylestewart4630
      @kylestewart4630 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only way for it to be an offside is if when the player kicked the ball, and the dude in front of the defender touched it. Another reason is if someone shoots when a player of the same team is in front of the defender, it bounces of the keeper or the post and then he touches it. Non of this happened, it was a bad call.

    • @kizawski
      @kizawski 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched by
      a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:
      • interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by
      a team-mate or
      • interfering with an opponent by:
      • preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by
      clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
      • CHALLENGING AN OPPONENT FOR THE BALL or
      • clearly attempting to play a ball which is close to him when this action
      impacts on an opponent or
      • MAKING AN OBVIOUS ACTION WHICH CLEARLY IMPACTS ON THE ABILITY OF AN OPPONENT TO PLAY THE BALL
      A player moving from, or standing in, an offside position is in the way of an
      opponent and interferes with the movement of the opponent towards the ball
      this is an offside offence if it impacts on the ability of the opponent to play or
      challenge for the ball; if the player moves into the way of an opponent and
      impedes the opponent’s progress (e.g. blocks the opponent) the offence should
      be penalised under Law 12.

    I coach u9 in Belgium. I NEVER coach to win. I know that sounds weird. Let me explain: I coach to make them better soccer-players. I am extatic when i see progress in the way they play. I'm thrilled when is see them picking up pointers that were handed to them during practice and implementing it in their game. If they score a goal but they used the wrong foot i'll tell them i'm glad it went in but i'll point out the technical error. If they use the correct foot and hit it 20 foot over the cross-bar i'll praise the crap out of 'em. Because in 4 or 5 years time they'll have two good feet to play with. That's what your job is as a trainer and as a coach of youth teams. It is NOT your job to win the game on saturdays. Tell you the truth: the only way i know if we won or lost is by the reaction of my players. Either the hands go up after the last whisttle or the heads go down. Ask me the score in the middle of the game and i swear i don't know, i don't even care. They need to play to win. I don't. If you disagree then i suggest you look for a hobby other then coaching kids, you'll only f*ck them up.

      I absolutely agree with this method. As you get older, getting on teams is not easy, and just because you know how to grind out a victory in one system doesn't mean you can do the same in another system. I know many kids who played great last ditch defense and were good at clearances, but became a liability when they got older on other teams that played more tiki-taka and a controlled tempo.

    I'm a certified referee and have been doing this for 10 years now, one of the rules states that
    "A player is offsides if they interfere with the play and influence it in any way"
    Therefore it was offsides because the player prevented the keeper from doing his job.
    And the rules say that if a parent or coach is acting like how the man here did then you need to get control of the game by ejecting and takeing people out of the game. Great job to the ref

    • @hermanzedgerman3833
      @hermanzedgerman3833 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a certified ref, you should also know it's just OFFSIDE. There isn't an "s" on the end. And you should also know that under FIFA/USSF, there aren't any rules but Laws Of The Game. Granted, NFHS and NISOA (NCAA) call them rules. Since this obviously wasn't high school or college, safe to say they were playing under USSF Laws.

    • @tjones5719

      I used to try to explain calls sometimes but when a coach is going crazy and screaming it is obvious he doesn't want to listen and it's only going to escalate into something worse. I've learned that dealing with these situations quickly and strongly is usually the best way to handle it.

      Who has the coach had been acting prior to offside I which probably influenced ref but I keep my cool and not come off as this red did here. You are right some go in with a power trip or bring personal attitudes onto the field. To help game management and if coach is willing to listen take a few seconds and explain briefly in decision. It can help you control coach and keep game flowing without unknowing thoughts.

    • @corytoews5222
      @corytoews5222 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I can see both sides of that argument. Bottom line is that it's not the referee's responsibility to teach the game, especially to a coach. I've only reffed for a couple years, but we're instructed to keep any explanations incredibly brief so that the game can continue to flow.

  • @sabersworn
    @sabersworn 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great call by the AR. I'm surprised the AR called it tbh. It doesn't matter if the kid didn't touch it. Nowhere in the laws of the game says he needs to touch it. If the team gains any advantage, which they did because this player made an advance on the ball and blocked the goalie from being able to save it. The goalie could've been able to move forward to stop the ball before it bounced, if that player were not there. Great call 100%.

    I can't tell, but some people are missing the point, its when the ball is kicked, not when a player becomes part of the play. If he was in an offside position when the ball was kicked then the call was correct, you cant where he was when the ball was kicked.
