As a 16 year old referee in Texas, I made a call the coach/parent of the penalized player didn’t like. He came out on the field screaming at me and received a yellow card and was told to return to the sideline. I turned back to restart the game and the man grabbed my shoulders, turned me back toward him yelling not to turn my back on him. I calmly pulled out my red card and when he refused to leave the field of play I called the game. 2 weeks later a hearing was held on his appeal of my calling the came and awarding the game to the other team by forfeit thus costing his team the tournament championship. He was very surprised to find that there was no discussion about my calling the game, just a 20 minute discussion on the proper procedure from having him banned for life from the USSF. That was in 1983, 38 years and over 500 games officiated and 600 games coached and I am retired from active participation in soccer, he lost his job as a high school soccer coach because the national association banned him for life for assaulting a referee during an u12 game. He has appealed his ban 5 times and been denied each time. And yes it was a good call.

This is why the center needs to deal directly with the coach. it's his parent, you need the coach telling his parent to get behind the fence/off the pitch. Nobody wants to take responsibility for their own words and actions anymore.
I made the mistake a couple of times to talk to the parents or supporters, but it is better to first address the coach. This can filter a lot of frustraties and agression.
Ok so this just reminds me of one specific club out of Baltimore called the Blue Eagles, every game Ig share with them at least 1 coach gets kicked and 2 players get carded, and lucky me I see them again this weekend!
Molly O'Brien Excuse me?! I refereed the sport for close to twenty years. The assistant referee was wrong to address the parents. Tell the referee and let him deal with it.
And I've reffed for longer than that, and it would very much depend on what the parent said. If it's a constant criticism about the handling of the game, then of course, the coach should be the first stop. If it's personal, then he's certainly entitled to address is directly with the parent. We see it from 41 seconds in and don't know for how long this may have been going on. Obviously the coach must have heard it and didn't stop it. Far too often coaches are unable - or unwilling - to stop parents mouthing off. If this is club soccer then the coach is being paid and they sometimes can be reluctant to stand up to their employer, the guy who is partially paying his wages.
Bill Mulholland - which is why referees need a thicker skin. I ignored so much abuse. Btw, I was forced to retire as a result of an MS diagnosis. I would still be out there if I could be.
Clay county culture is bullying. Starts with the coaches and Matt Holyoake the Director. The parents are rude. I had an 11 year old harassed by the coach and his son. Holyoke did nothing to prevent a 50 year old man from swearing at a kid, creeping up behind him and saying things when he requested to join a different team. Parents harassed me. One mother actually came up to my son who made the State ODP team and insulted him. Evil Elvia! It’s a terrible culture of if you can’t win honestly, then yell at the kids.
Barring some extraordinary occurrence, there is nothing that happens within a youth soccer game that means JACK SQUAT. When you're in the middle of a beef at a youth sporting event, you have lost the plot. Shit happens, but who gives a crap about blown calls at this level? No parent has ever protested calls at a youth sporting event and come off looking good.
Any parent who acts like an A-Hole at a children's game no matter what the sport should be kicked out immediately. At least the kids will learn the repercussions of acting like an idiot and will hopefully not follow their parents path.
Weird. 1. Call seemed to have been OK - on multiple slow mo reviews, it seems as though the tackle may well have driven the ball into the attacker before heading out of touch. Maybe ... It's a throw-in ... parents who get bent out of shape over throw-ins are the absolute worst. 2. AR stopped play and approached the fan/parent - NOT appropriate. He should have called the CR over and let him choose if/how to deal with the AR's perceived problem. 3. The CR got his AR to head back up the line, and then took the action he deemed appropriate. I have to think that, had the AR not taken exception to a fan's taunts, the CR wouldn't have done a thing. In the youth tournaments I used to work - asking a tournament official to deal with the fan/parent would be one appropriate way of proceeding. IMO it was not called for here, unless some similar things happened earlier in the match (even then, the trigger should be very rarely pulled on this sort of thing). 4. Who the #$*& was that who came walking up the sideline and onto the field of play while the game was still going on. THAT'S the guy who should be removed from the field. What a #$*&tard. 5. My guess is that the CR wasn't too happy with his AR because of this interruption to the game. Both officials have the appearance and bearing of very experienced officials - save for the apparent rabbit ears of the AR. 6. The tournament official handled the matter well, once the CR informed him what action he should take.
If anything throw ins are pretty difficult. It’s hard to see through 2-3 bodies sometimes. I speak from experience. All of my wrong calls from my first ever match (imo) were throw ins.
Complete waste of time. The weird interaction that the US has with football involving deckchairs and an audience that clearly hasn’t a clue about the game is polar different to most countries Europe.

Those parents take the "game" way to serious....win or lose...it's just a game!
That kind of parent need to be away from the soccer fields
ay ay calmate como si tu nunca le hubieras gritado algo a un arbitro en tu vida, no mames
Nestor Magallanes la neta nunca
That kind of parent shouldn’t breed in the first place
Jorge De La Cruz what did he do? I dont get it.
No parents at games should be a requirement
that is just incredibly stupid, parents should have the right to see their children play
Ok so this just reminds me of one specific club out of Baltimore called the Blue Eagles, every game Ig share with them at least 1 coach gets kicked and 2 players get carded, and lucky me I see them again this weekend!
How did it go?
That’s why zero tolerance is being used more and more, I know a guy who made all the spectators leave
that guy is an absolute idiot then
It's just a game. It's kids. Behave yourselve
Crazy they have security at kids soccer games. Like if you still have to bring a folding chair your kid isn’t going pro
The guy tried the, I’m just looking at my cell phone trick.
Woeful communication. Either have the offender removed or don't.
Typical. Just like a little kid busted, he tries to play innocent. Goodbye, Weasel.
If the other fans wont ID the offender then eject ALL OF THEM!
Really not good the way some Americans behave….it would be a rare thing for this sort of thing to happen in the U.K. Give it a few years though.
I don’t understand why refs bother to show up. This continues to escalate because of weak leadership from officiating organizations.
First mistake: don’t talk to the parents. Talk to the coach and ask him to control his parents and sideline.
lol you right bro,
Molly O'Brien Excuse me?!
Tom O'Connor you're 100% correct
All the players have to stand around while the parent is dealt with. Coaching and officiating amateur sports is a thankless job.
AYSO games can be like that at times
❤❤❤❤
Clay county culture is bullying. Starts with the coaches and Matt Holyoake the Director. The parents are rude. I had an 11 year old harassed by the coach and his son. Holyoke did nothing to prevent a 50 year old man from swearing at a kid, creeping up behind him and saying things when he requested to join a different team. Parents harassed me. One mother actually came up to my son who made the State ODP team and insulted him. Evil Elvia! It’s a terrible culture of if you can’t win honestly, then yell at the kids.
I mean it was a shit call
Barring some extraordinary occurrence, there is nothing that happens within a youth soccer game that means JACK SQUAT. When you're in the middle of a beef at a youth sporting event, you have lost the plot. Shit happens, but who gives a crap about blown calls at this level? No parent has ever protested calls at a youth sporting event and come off looking good.
Didn't really see anything happen in this video beyond the field staff not communicating very well
That’s why you remove them
The main reason i don’t coach youth baseball anymore. Parents are terrible.
Does anyone know what the parent said to be kicked out of the game?
I was told it was something with regards to questioning the referees integrity to referee the match (essentially accusing him of match fixing).
6. The tournament official handled the matter well, once the CR informed him what action he should take.
you could have written all this in one sentence mate
If anything throw ins are pretty difficult. It’s hard to see through 2-3 bodies sometimes. I speak from experience. All of my wrong calls from my first ever match (imo) were throw ins.
@@Jie67 - that would be one hell of a run-on sentence, mate.
2:57 who's idiot on the field and why he thinks he has a rights to step on the field?
we just need to now his name, any help out there.
You know how a cat will use it's paw and smack a dog like 1,000 times in 5 seconds? Can we teach referees to do that to parents?...
It's a throw in...
Who cares what direction it is
He should have let instead he made his kids team wait and embarrassed his child
At some point, the refs need to just ref and do what they're PAID to do. If you can't handle some criticism, better go find another gig
and then when they all quite due to abuse and you have no referees left, what then? huh?
Complete waste of time. The weird interaction that the US has with football involving deckchairs and an audience that clearly hasn’t a clue about the game is polar different to most countries Europe.
I'll I have to say is.... "¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!"
Wonder what would happen if you had said nothing
What did he say?
What did the parent do ?
Alex Chairez someone’s insults the sideline referee
There is no such thing as an adult.
Everybody should be arrested for watching soccer.
Some refs go to far my 4 kids did all kinds of sports never had any issues till one ref was a dad for other team and calling a lot bad calls on one team all I said was call a far game I was kicked out 5 mins later the head of the refs came out got me all the other refs said I was right that the one ref was wrong he was walked out for belittling the players an parents.
It was a foul throw anyway
Exactly - tell the coach to control his fans. If he can't then HE (the coach) is gone.
"CLICK BAIT"....
Keep it movin'... Nuthin' to see here!... 😒
Walk of shame!
What teams are they
Donavyn 74 Texans vs Solar
Shudda heard what was said back in the 50- 80s when I played back in UK.
Just ref the damn game.
Snitches get stitches
Anyone else notice the UFO at 3:45 and on???
Dearborn is the toilet of michigan
I got a great piece of advice when I was a young ref ... “if your looking for approval your in the wrong business your only job is to do the next game better than you did the last”
Christopher Connelly sound advice mate here in western Australia if a parent causes trouble his kids team loose points works most of the time but the ugly parent thing is world wide problem
Total over reaction to nothing ...
I play there all the time
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....................snoozefest!
Feo commentario Nestor. Va a la esuela de refs... haga mejor !!!
4:19 Seconds wasted I want my 4:19 seconds back. lol This was garbage! jkg of course! 2017. lol
As a former ref n player
These refs handled this wrong and like chicken shits !!
They didn’t be distinct in who and why they wanted a parent to leave !!! What a joke Joke
