Wish I would've seen this video first. I just purchased the Nilight TR-04 Truck Tailgate Bar 60" Triple Row 504 LED Strip with Red Brake White Reverse Sequential Amber Turning Signals Strobe Lights on Amazon. Hopefully they'll be as bright as yours. But nice comparison with your friend's tailgate light strip. You gave me a good idea on how to wire. I just bought a 2021 Toyota Tundra. I'm hoping the wiring will be easy as you did it. Thanks for sharing and your step by step install.

I liked the video after I saw it a few weeks ago and ordered one. the issue I am having is that 4 pin plug won't go on the 4 pin receptacle of my 2017 Tundra. Any thought on this. thx also. I was so in to the lights of the video I did not notice the tattoos.
I have used a bunch of different for cars and they die or crack like that one you threw away. Would this be a good option for a car but splicing into the light system as it doesn't have a harness to plug into?
did you try to turn on the hazard lghts running lights and the same time press on the brake?? Did the red light became high?

If you’re talking about a light bar for just light, you could wire that into your reverse light and it would come on when you’re in reverse. However if you want it to be able to be toggled off and on, that will take some wiring.

here in a chevrolet it must be different, when putting a turn both are turned on by the return of the brake connection
When you're pulling a trailer, do you need to unplug this? It looked like the plug you used was supposed to connect to the trailer connector socket on the bumper.

Hello from Argentina, a query, when you put the led strip, following the installation, when you put the turn, both turn on! By the bridge with the brake, do you put a diode?
no i didnt install any other components, I basically hooked the light up to my connector for my trailer and it took care of the rest.
I love how the lights look but these strips always mess up in a year I’ve already replaced the strip 3 times
Hello i connect the brake light to the signal lights from led strip but with the brake the tailgate signal lights of the car lighting. Because that i connect the running light from the led strip with the brake but now i have not running light to the led strip. How i solve this problem?
I have one what works only if the electrical circuit is on, at the moment I start the motor the strip doesn’t work. What can I do to fix this?
I'm thinking of using a strong 3m magnetic tape to secure the LED strip on my Tacoma due to the access port for lowering the spare tire.

Hi, I purchased this light bar and installed on a 19 F250 with a factory trailer hitch. Everything works, the issue I’m having is when I step on the brake I receive the “Trailer Disconnected” on the dash and when you release the brake I receive “Trailer Connected”. Do you have a “Fix” I was thinking a diode in line toward the light bar ideas please.
Yes I made a wire loom and spliced using solder and heat-shrink into the tail light loom and everything works great.
As a curious younger mechanic, did mechanics alone get you that nice house and truck?

It lasted without issue for the rest of the time I kept the truck. Which was several month and thru a winter.
Cleaning the surface, well with alcohol or something would help

As a Apprentice what do you do? Basically what's your day like. The only reason I ask is I never went that route. I was thrown in the automotive because of health issues and my dad had a shop.
Im not an apprentice that much anymore. I came up with the name because when i started at the shop because I was still in school at the time. When I was at that point, I was doing a lot of simple jobs (oil changes, brakes, etc) until i got the education under my belt. Im now a full time mechanic.

Mine won’t glow red and stay on with the DRL but all the other functions work, including the brake light. Any ideas why ?
I bought the exact same z moon bar and connected it to the 4 pin.

Hi Hector, If it is the plastic piece in the center of the placement area you can remove it! All it dose is cover some holes in the body.

I don't know man! I kinda like it and I kinda don't.. I think it would be cool on a offroad chase truck on the roll bar but idk on a fullsize truck. I like the speed of yours more than Kyles.
One of the problems I have with it is that the turn signals are amber, And almost all American vehicles use red turn signals! This light bar would look good on a Import truck because they use amber turn signals!
Where do you get the op 7? Definitely looks better. Same brightness but the Op 7 has much more dense lighting

Well for as long as I had the truck I had zero issues with it. I sold the truck but have seen it recently and the light bar is still going strong!

Hi, having a problem with my tailgate light bar. Had a shop hardwire it and it only works when the lights are turned off. When you turn the lights on i get no power. Did the shop wire it up wrong? Went back today and he said its got to be a bad light bar. But it worked fine when it was plugged into the trailer. But it kept popping codes in the truck so i took it in to have them wire it up.
If they wired it to your trailer hitch, then they could have something wired incorrectly.
They wired it to the driver side tail light. And the reverse light is ran to the passenger side.
@@kenwilson2314 it needs to be wired to the trailer harness.

I got.of these installed but the morons didnt connect the running light. They said it doesnt work for non us trucks. I dont have a harness so they spliced into the rear lights but frig... I wanted it working like yours. Any suggestion how to get it work?
You could splice the wires into the tail lights directly according to the wiring of the light bar.

Yes, this seems to be an issue with some of these cheaper light bars where they have not spent the extra. How they are usually wired is the brake light is attached to both right and left turn signal wires too so if it sees constant power (not intermittent power - hazard) it lights the red. I would guess there is some error/issue on the logic circuits that processes the signal first before doing the checks to see which should be lit... So you get yellow light and then the red instead of just red alone. The opt7 bar doesn't have this problem.
I wouldn't install anything with amber lights on the back of my truck first off. The OPT7 is a way better light. I'm still laughing about the tail gate. I know it's a Chevy but I don't think it would have fell apart if you removed the tail gate.
I gotta wonder why is it no one takes the tail gate off when cleaning and installing LB? seems like it would make it easier to work on instead of working through that little gap?
