Im wanting to put this exact one on my truck, its a 2021 Rebel and under the bottom of the tailgate, to the left center theres the cable housing for the tailgate wiring, and about 10 inches in from each side of the tailgate theres a raised bump about an inch square. So putting one of these on is proving to be a pain.
@@cruzzindodge so I ended up cutting a strip of 3/8" lexan the same width and length of the light bar, and just cut out the section where the raised part was on my truck. pretty much just shimmed the led bar out away and over that raised section. I used a really strong 3M double sided tape and taped the lexan to the truck, then used the mounting screws and brackets to attach it to the lexan. been on about 2 years with no issues holding.
@@Dhall-sg2hf outstanding thank you! Your way seems to be the best option to achieve this. Just curious I'd ypu used this same light bar or a different one and if all the leds are still functional after 2 years. Also did you end up hardwired to the tail lights.
@@cruzzindodgethis is my favorite one ive ever seen on a truck, BUT I did have to get a replacment because a section about 4 inches long went out on the bar, although the customer service was really nice and helpful, I sent a video on the bar not working and they sent me a brand new one and I just swapped it out, took 4 mins if that.
Every truck is different. For some, the hole for the spare is in the bumper. Just adjust the position of the light strip above or below the hole. There is usually enough room to do this. On this truck (when I had it) I had a train horn where the spare was so I never used the spare in that location.
I went with the putco blade fir that reason. The brackets are taped on and the lightbar snap into the brackets. I'd just have to pop it off the brackets if needed
The only problem I see is where your handle goes in for your spare tire. What do you do with that? Because light bar seems to go over about a third of it.And do you remove the rubber bushing around it
I read a comment somewhere that on the 2016 Ram, ( I have a 1500) that hooking up these lights using the trailer wiring as you did, causes a trailer light to show on the instrument cluster. I have seen this light when hook up to my trailer. Do you have a trailer light on all time?
@@DieselLegiance yea i use a product called firewire safetywire led they have tailgate strips but i havent really seen how well they work . i use thier emergency strips on my pushbar and rockers and rear window i was looking for something like this that was slim and hideable that had a good bright light so i dont got these punks trying to sneak up and ambush on dark nights we contract dangerous properties and are basically a tactical security team we do escorts, roadwork safety, squatter removal , patrol in general.
How do you prevent that small delay between the tail light and the light bar? My 2006 titan does the same, but I was wondering if hardwiring to the trailer harness would make it go away.
On the brake light if it's wired closer to the actual bulb it decreases the delay significantly but I haven't figured out how to completely eliminate the delay
Absolutely, I have one on my wife’s truck too and will be adding one to my new truck build. The link for this light is in the video description box. But here it is for quick reference. amzn.to/3pSEpQ2
No, it’s just an LED light that should not cause any harm to your truck if installed properly. However, If concerned, I would simply contact your dealer and ask them just to be sure.
How can i check which wire is which on a 2020 gmc sierra sle truck, i already installed led light but havnt hardwired it yet, need to see which is reversed ,backup brake light etc?
Sometimes you have to search for videos online or search the Internet for a wiring diagram. It took me a little while to figure out which wires I need it for my truck.
Hello i connect the brake light to the signal lights from led strip but with the brake the tailgate signal lights of the car lighting. Because that i connect the running light from the led strip with the brake but now i have not running light to the led strip. How i solve this problem?
I’m not sure, sounds like you hooked up to the wrong wire. With so many wires to sort through, it’s easy to use the wrong one. I would advise emailing the company you bought the light from and maybe they can give you a wire diagram for your specific vehicle.
I like to look for low cost but highly reviewed/recommended products. This light kit had many good reviews and I have two kits currently and they have been working great for me.
When I turn on the turn signal and press the brake at the same time, everything gets confused and the turn signal does not work - (both sides turn on) 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. What could be the reason?
It’s hard to say, are you sure you have the wires hooked up correctly? There might be wires that work, but if you’re having electrical issues like that, one of the wires might not be hooked up to the correct wire.
@merabesebua6116 So you didn’t hardwire it you just plugged it into the trailer harness? I always recommend hardwire as sometimes the trailer harness plug may cause interference with the lights. I can’t even install one on my 2023 F350 as the trailer harness sensors for some reason cause issues with the light but it worked on my Ram 2500.
It’s hard to post a picture on a comment. I can tell you this, during the day, the daytime running light is still bright. When you hit the breaks it’s brighter. Reverse lights are a bright white.
Both of my LED Strips (my truck and wife’s truck) work perfectly fine after months of use. Does not interfere with spare tire hole. I am very happy with mine.
Thanks for the video and demonstration.
It would have been nice to see what the hazard lights would look like.
Great video, thanks for explaining in detail.
What a great light setup I have one I put on my 2010 Silveraudo 1500 LTZ and mine work great to I love it
I have one on my 2016 ram 1500. Also my truck is the same color, it’s the little brother of your truck lol
This works just like the opt7 triple red line niccee, i was looking for an alternative bc opt7 is double the price
Awesome addition to the trucks.. 👍🏼
Love the video. Where can I find the plastic fasteners. I tried lowes and home depot and no luck
I’m not sure, but I would assume any hardware store would have plastic fasteners that would work.

Are the reverse lights also hooked to the 4prong plug if we decided to just use that instead of cutting the wire?
Sorry, Don’t remember but I think it’s wired separately. You could use the 4pin plug and then just hardwire the 5th wire
Another great video man 👍🏾🇺🇸
what about the spare tire. there is hole in there, and with this setup you can reach your pipe to spare. ?
I didn’t use my spare in this location so it did not affect me but you can adjust the light strip a little higher or work the strip around the cutout.
There is a two piece version of that. that's more useful for me. thnx for answer btw @@DieselLegiance

No issues with mine.
If I use the trailer plug on my 2018 f250 will I get a trailer warning,? Can u just shut it off?
Not sure, I just hardwired it.
@Diesel Legiance well I just tried it and the answer is yes lots of warnings actually. So I'm gona just have my buddy hard wire it.
It’s not hard, just research which wires going to the trailer harness are Power, Ground, Left signal, Right signal, and Reverse.
@Diesel Legiance well if I do the trailer harness won't that still give me the warnings? I thought maybe pull off the tail light and go to that?
The trailer plug I believe is just for testing the light. I don’t think it’s supposed to be permanently mounted there.
Could you bypass it to just light up white with a push of a button?
I assume anything is possible I just don’t know how.

I don’t see why not they should work with any vehicle as long as you tie the wires into the factory wires correctly.

What did you do with the spare tire access hole?
You can adjust/locate the strip above the hole so not to block it. I didn’t use a spare tire as I had a train horn mounted there.
