Huntress betrayal certainly surprised me as I always took her as backup when available and her voice lines gave off a friendly demeanor, making the switch to a more aggressive tone at the end all the more surprising. But it did teach a good lesson about the dangers of simping, apple boy was the real homie of the bunch.
As a game developer, these kinds of reviews are really valuable for getting a sense of how players feel about things. Forces me to see stuff in a newly unfamiliar way. Thank-you.
Thank you all for the support on this video. Every like and comment is a huge amount of motivation. This video has spread like wild fire and it's just blown my mind
Just finished watching all your videos, you helped me the other day on getting my emulator setup so i can enjoy these games again, went through and liked everything i could, and watched the full videos too, didnt skip around. Im a armored core fanatic, so anything you push out, even if its click bait, ill watch
I miss Armored Core so much. Armored Core 5 was so fun. Just playing operator online against another worth operator, playing chess with human chess pieces controlling giant robots against another person playing chess with human chess pieces controlling giant robots was the best online gaming experience I've ever had. Shame that never hit the mainstream. Maybe today, in the streamer culture and the blur between online gaming and social media in general, something like that could've thrived a bit more.
Agree. I know it wasn't terribly popular, and I understand how it didn't appeal very deeply to very many people (though it did have a respectable online player base for longer than I expected.) but I fell in love with AC5 right away. I thought the online system was a lot of fun to participate in and the gameplay felt really good. There were some imbalanced parts, but really most any build could be made to work and a lot of play styles were viable. And I do think it would do much better now than it did back in it's own time. At least it SEEMS that another AC entry is in development finally. I certainly hope it makes it's way to us. Can't wait to see what they do with the series after all this time.
I sometimes wish I did play it at it's prime. Because it felt like a slog to go through(did not like the main story and more like the sidequest that are a continuation after the main story which are oddly cut up into sidequests) with impossible challenges alone. Half the cast I hated hated instead of like hating them. With the worse part being the mechs for just being potatoes with generic environments to glide(since legs are useless for how slow you walk) around in and not like any of the prior games. I will say though the Verdict day fixed some of those gripes but I would have liked to have a full party of U1 mechs with pre made schematics from the other pilots instead of just 1 along with taking control of them when my mech died instead of being strapped to a jetpack welding a bbgun. Also Fuck the final boss in that game I swear it is literally is just a AC from AC4 that may have some downgrades with the inability to fly, but is still broken to fight solo.
@@KABLAMMATS I wanted to play it though to understand AC and how it's changed throughout the years since it was made back on the PS1. And when I played AC5 without the online servers with it's campaign. It was hard doing certain challenges without a extra player or two beside you since there's unlockables behind them. The way that 5 along with Verdic Day were made is clearly relying on online since there's not even a split screen co-op which drags the game down in the long run after online services shut down like today.
AC3 was by far the most played AC game for me. I loved more of the missions in this game along with its features. I wished they did a HD remake for it and put it on steam or something
From many mecha series i encounter in my life, Armored Core is my favorite Idk why but i'm just glued to it, even AC5 because they remind me to Front Mission Wanzer (but on steroid) Not forgetting the mech designer, Shoji Kawamori who known for his famous works such as Macross, Aquarion, Eureka Seven and guest design for White Glint in 4 Answer
You ARE entertaining my good man. I very much enjoy these video recaps of the armored core series. As you said, it never really got that much love, but thanks to you, more armored core lore content (and its description as a series) is here to view for all. Keep making the content you're comfortable with, work at your own pace, and just have fun. That's what makes the best content. 😎
I really miss armored core, it's the primary series I really grew up on, starting back on PS1 with AC1 and Project Phantasma. Look forward to seeing your channel grow, it's always nice to see/hear another Armored Core enjoyer
Your reviews are really good discussion the game in decent detail. I also complained about how the LATE-3 generation of AC games (Nexus to Last Raven) lacked any way to unlock human plus even if people 100% the game(s), because that's how it was in AC3's sequel Silent Line. I like how unlocking the abilities for OP-INTESNIFY are unlocked when equipped during challenges, which was a great feature in games back then. Complete a special task with certain item equipped, get special rewards.
Also, the fact that almost everyone else beside the player is equiped with one. I know you want the fight to be really hard, but Zanaida was just stupidly excessive. (Why the hell did she got infinite energy on top of the OP-INTENSIFY?)
@@air1744 agreed. That part will not go unnoticed when I get to last raven lol. Especially since her previous 2 fights where nowhere near as challenging and when you use her charge up laser rifle its cr@p
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 Yeah the Railgun is shown as this amazing new weapon in the opening of Last Raven and you get it it's literally a Way Worse Karasawa lol
@@air1744 It wasn't simply OP-INTENSIFY in Nexus/Last-Raven, it was back to being Human + because Ravens with H+ also had the other optional parts equipped and Super Zinaida had all of them equipped.
Funny part about that mirage betrayal mission, it seems if you predominantly pick mirage missions, they will down right not betray you and even award you with more stock. Crest however did attempt to kill me but I wouldn’t call it a betrayal Edit: ok nvm if you side with mirage they just throw the Betrayal behind the Levithan mission instead of before. I don’t know if this how it was intended but it felt weird that this entire time I’m helping mirage constantly then they just back stab me then again these are corpos.
Armored Core: For Answer is the best one. white glint.. wow man that next is powerful.. put the kojima generators on it and two swords.. that is all you need. you can zerge slice with two swords, press one, then pres the other, you can fly everywhere like that in these games. not the new ones tho..
My favorite strategy for the arena was to build a slow tank with overboost, and equip a flame thrower, then choose the factory stage. There was an alcove with a low ceiling that I'd immediately boost to. Eventually the opponent would end up in there with you, often standing on you. All you do then is flame him.
The AC series was the best . With my favorites being AC3 , AC4 and AC4A . Soo many hours building AC/NEXT then trying to S rank all the levels and bosses.
Another awesome video dude! As a long time AC fan, I want to say a few things from my experience with AC3. AC3 was the title i started the series with so, I have the fondest memories of it, and SL. AC3's world is absolutely one of the best in the series (as well as SL but they're meant to be one whole game). The crazy soundtrack, the gritty and grungy world, it feels different than most mecha titles of the time. Like you said, it felt like you were in that world, having to survive within it. Not just roll thru as the protagonist and not feel challenged. Starting with stock in 3 feels so challenging at first and you feel rewarded as you progress from your default parts. Yes, the escort missions are ass, but I too love the alloy one. Especially with the driver sounding so nice, like he actually doesnt want to die. I always felt bad if he did because he was just some dude, not a soldier. I think its best to try and play the game not relying on certain weapons like the (very) broken Pixie 1000 ammo MG, Karasawa, Moonlight, or Howitzer. Shotguns were always fun to challenge myself with, as well as pistols/dual weapons, or blade arms. One of the best things about 3 was that it's blade tracking felt the best IMO. If you had a lock on or the target was within the lock box, your swing would propel you towards the enemy, making for some really fun blade only strategies. I encourage any old blood fans, or newcomers who want a real challenge to try to beat the entire arena with only a blade and pile bunker spike. It leads to some really fun AC builds and strategies. Interested in your control scheme video too, since AC has a very strange way or control with strafing being the main way to survive. I've found that actually crossing in front of the ai backwards and trying to get to their six that way led to some intense fights. Like taking a gamble to let them get a shot only to turn it around on them instantly can be super cool. I have a video in the works myself so hopefully i can illustrate it better. Anyway i could go on, but I love your reviews dude, cant wait for the others. Got a subscriber out of me.
I remembered hearing about this game back in 2016 from Game theory(RIP Ronny) and found a copy at a 2nd hand store(after finding 5 at game stop). It was a experience from the start for it's outdated controls as if FS though the original PS1 controller was the end all of controllers with the later version with twin sticks being inferior which is why they never added them until the late end of AC games on the PS2. I was half engaged with the story but immersed for not being a chosen one in the narrative. Which is kind of the opposite in Daemon X Machina which had a similar story to 2 but made your character more special despite being a mute who shows no personality outside the lifeless mech they pilot. Also the story got in the way some times leading to events that went nowhere or some events feeling like detours to the story at large.
I just downloaded most of the Armored Core games. I seriously love Armored Core. The first Armored Core game was the very first mech game I played as a kid, even though I didn't understand how to play it, just the fact that you could build a mech that looked super cool and go on missions with it was so sick! As I was just a child though, I was limited in the games I could find and that was the only Armored Core game I played until I seen Armored Core 4 in a game stop. I instantly bought it with the little money I had as I was still in school and I was blown away, my favorite missions were fighting arms forts, their designs and gameplay were so much fun. If they made an Armored Core movie or show going over all the Armored Core history, I would instantly buy it.
I have mixed feelings about AC3 Rebooting AC1 this early doesn't make much sense. AC1 wasn't that old yet. But the game itself is great and it laid the foundation to the rest of ps2 AC games
My childhood and chronic returning game of choice, Armored Core 3 and Silent Line. Fantastic games that will forever be with me. edit: Ac3 "s" rank isn't much for missions, however, Silent Line's method of obtaining weapons from missions is stupidly difficult requirements they might as well be "need to S rank"
Ya I tried getting that early core reward where you have to defend submarine generators in silent line and couldnt do it for an hour w carried over save. I plan on getting it this time
Man, I hope you keep doing content on Armored Core. This is such a fascinating series with so much underneath the surface and for someone new (like me) stumbling across it in 2023, these videos are a goldmine. Other series like Front Mission don’t get enough love either, so more content overall for these types of underrated mecha games would be so appreciated in a sea of content already covering every other major series. Regardless though, thanks for the work you’ve already done! Hoping to see videos on AC 4 / FA like this soon!
I don't remember S ranking all the missions so there probably isn't anything unlocked by it. (or it's finger machine guns) Also I think there's a left handed grenade launcher either in 3 or one of the later ones allowing for launchers on every major hard point. I think I killed Seraph as a tank build with that loadout. So much firepower, so little ammo.
Really enjoying this series, watched parts 1, 2 and 3 back to back last night. This game and all the ones after it are a mystery to me, so looking forward to those. Keep it up man
This was the game I started on and my whole childhood basically revolved around Armored core. So I am biased in believing that this was the best game. Man I adore this series so much, I’m so excited for 6.
I used the orbitals specifically in one mission in 3 or Silent Line where it's dusty and you can't see but the orbitals track the enemy planes so it was helpful.
Oh right one thing you haven't gotten into yet is how you can customize your HUD. There is so much shit you can have on the HUD including an enemy AC display that will give you their loadout, ammo capacity and AP and I thought it had their heat and energy too. I always made my hud as busy as possible with the altimeter, elevation angle, heading and everything else to make it feel more like a mech simulator.
AC3 was my first real AC game, my friend had the PS1 demo disc (possibly from Play Station Magazine) that had the first one on it that gave like 3 missions, and more importantly VS mode fast forward several years and that same friend rented AC3 for a week or something during the summer and was so mad at it that he just let me play it for awhile, since there were no cheats to unlock parts or anything fast forward again to high school and my station neighbor in BCIS class mentioned Armored Core and i told him how i never got to actually play the game for more than just a few hours so he let me borrow his disc for a month, until i beat it... a bit sad that we never actually got to go against each other, because every one else i played with didn't like it because it was too hard. Nexus was probably my favorite of the series, it having two discs really helped with multiplayer, as long as you or your friend had 2 TVs in relatively close proximity, and network cables... and a router (and since dial-up was still the norm at that time, i feel i was lucky to be able to get all the components)
Man this was one of the first games I got for the PS2 back in the day and my god this game was incredible. It's very immersive as you say, the whole time you're wondering what's going on and it just feels so cool and mysterious. I miss that kind of vibe that a lot of Japanese companies seemed to nail back on the PS2. Hell even the PS2 menu feels mysterious with the ambient ocean wave sounds.
It's fascinating thinking about how Silent Line is this direct sequel to AC3, as far as I recall it wouldn't be until... what, Verdict Day? That we would see another so clearly linked to the first. Even AC 4 to For Answer feels like it has more distance to me, at least in terms of plot. Calling AC3 a remaster of AC1 isn't unfair, it really is essentially a refined and less platform limited version of AC1. Then again, I'm the silly fool that wrote up an outline of my 'ideal Armored Core Game' that was basically 'take the best ideas from all 4 games and put them in a single coherent plot.' I'm pretty sure it'd be a comedy to actually read that old document, I might even still have it somewhere on my computer... Really look forward to Silent Line getting it's own video, it's an unexpected treat.
This video was great. I've been thirsting for Armored Core content lately, and after hearing the news that a new game may be in the works I'm filled with even more excitement. Your review was great and I look forward to watching more of your videos if you continue this series.
I haven't played Armored Core yet, but I love mecha stuff and your overviews has been very helpful. I'm mostly looking for the entry that has the most gameplay variety and content out of the main entries so I can jump in.
I've played at least one entry from each of the series. AC1 was such a eye opener as a teen on all the customization and testing AC2 to me was great, but honestly couldn't remember anything except for the design of the kawasawa AC3 was when I got really good in the games, and noticed they 'nerfed' kawasawa and didn't have direct human+ Nexus is by far my fav entry in the series, as I felt it learned the lessons of before (maybe I just got good after so many entries) I tried AC4 in my college years and it really all felt too fast paced for me, like Gundam, not AC I recently picked up ACVD and have been enjoying it. Got the first half of missions on S rank, but now I'm just an old man and hard to have energy or drive to finish the story. Can't wait for your review on the remaining entries
Hey now! What a surprise! I just saw your AC2 vid on recommends a d wondered if there was a 3 amd it was released today! I began on AC3 and it was great. I want to replay the game, if only on better controls alas.
Wow… AC took up years of my young life. I was part of a competitive AC community. For competitions and meetups, Human Plus was banned, along with the Karasawa, Moonlight, the Crow extensions, and I forget what else. Basically any broken parts or mechanics were banned from competitive play.
the best part of this video series is realizing that as a kid I somehow managed to gravitate towards every OP thing in the game on instinct, I guess quickly identifying and adopting the most powerful stuff is a skill in and of itself. I mean this was the early days when even online guides where really just tips and tricks from like 3 junior high kids working together on a glorified word document.
I played the first in the demo from the PS1 and than the Silent Line, which damn... At the time I used the bug in the desert map of the arena to defeat all the opponents. Not to mention those insane boss fights. The one with the orbital cannon shooting or asses of... Dude. I admit, I used the tracked legs to be able to use that PPC while moving, as well as the laser rifles in the each hand to beat the game.
Loving the game intro as an intro for the video, it allows you to jump right into the action and also helps recreate the experience of someone booting it up for the first time alongside you. 10/10 idea.
AC3 was my favorite entry with silent line being a very close second. My biggest complaint was that the only mission you had enoguh credits to hire two consorts ( if one wasn't already provided) was "Defend the monorial." Watching your videos, made me realize how terrible I was at customizing my AC until this game, and that I should have considered using human plus instead of slogging through the games without them. I did use OP intensify in this entry solely to collect the unlocks as I wanted to 100 percent the game before moving to silent line, but didn't use it in silent line. It would have been fun to try out. I really enjoy your videos, and wish I found your channel sooner You are doing a great job.
I finally found all my PS2 stuff after I moved and started replaying all the PS2 Armored Core games (2, 2:AA, 3, SL.) Lots of good memories playing these games with my bud back in the day. I used to play them with a Gameshark so going back and actually playing them as intended feels fresh and challenging. Never mastered the claw technique.
When I was a kid we had a Ps1 with the Armored Core 1 demo from one of those multi-demo discs you used to get from magazines. I didn't actually own an Armored Core game until Armored Core 3. It and Silent Line hold a special place for me, I was already hooked on mecha so finally getting a game that let you do a lot of things with customization clicked immediately for me. I've been looking forward to another standout Armored Core title since For Answer came out. Unfortunately V & Verdict Day just dropped the ball. They made the mistake of over-focusing on online PvP and Online-only Coop Missions. The campaign felt short and much of the control scheme changes just felt like a massive de-evolution from Gen 4. Even if the intent was to turn away from spastic quickboost spam they could've achieved it the same way Gen 2 did, without completely gutting airborne combat, slow down combat a bit, refine controls. On top of that PvE weapon balance was affected by PvP and thus even if you ignore PvP your builds were affected for PvE. To add another layer of annoyance there were reskins of weapons obtainable fairly far into the game made available in microtransaction DLC packs, considering the entire point of Armored Core is customization offering gear unlocked in game for cash upfront seemed like a fairly moronic thing to do. Hopefully Armored Core VI understands the balance that needs to be struck between PvE, customization, and build variety vs PvP 'balance'. I don't mind people liking V, but that isn't what I want to see happen again in VI, there is a reason why they ignored making a sequel for so long, and it wasn't just because Souls games hit a critical mass in popularity. ACV and Verdict Day did terribly because it didn't hook veteran players or players who got hooked by Gen 4, and its obtuse control scheme kept most brand new players out. Hopefully the wait is worth it. P.S. I've S-ranked every mission in... AC2 AC2: Another Age AC3 AC3: Silent Line Nexus Last Raven (I ignore Ninebreaker because it was a waste of time) Armored Core 4 Armored Core For Answer Armored Core V Armored Core Verdict Day I do not actually remember what you unlock by S-ranking everything in AC3 as Its been like 20 years.
I've finished both this game and Silent Line on PSP and when I went back to do another playthrough of 3, it shocked me as to how much of a difference it makes when you play the game knowing a bunch of the mechanics of the game. I coasted through the Arena without upgrading much and it felt so satisfying.
You probably are already aware of this but just in case a new armored core game has been leaked for the first quarter release of from softwares 2023 lineup. I loved watching this video the nostalgia hit me like a brick. I played this game so much back in the day I took out exile only using the core with the machine gun laser built in.
Remember when armored core first came out. My first game on ps1. Loved it. Now my 8 year old is playing the latest armored core. I gave him some advice. He said dad. You don’t know. I uploaded my crimson striker. Definitely more fun now. But it’s still lacking control feel. Fun schooling my kid. The new stuff is cool. Definitely helpful.
To this day, Armored Core 3 + Silent Line (I consider them basically a two-disk game) remains in my top 5 favorite games. I keep my PS2 around just to go back a play through every now and then.
Hey man. Thanks a lot for making this video, it's what got me to finally get into this series. AC 3 was my first game and man I had a lot of fun despite how terrible the controls could be sometimes lol. It was so immersive and I loved how it really made me feel like a pilot, the way the story is told not through cutscenes but the mission descriptions of the fucked up ways these companies are destroying themselves and the world. I couldn't put it down, and I ended up beating it this weekend. I just finished unlocking all the different OP-intensify functions. And even though it's broken, it makes the game feel a LOT better to play. Gonna take this save file straight into Silent Line. I'm so hyped, this must be what it feels like to actually beat a Dark Souls game lol.
Armored Core Silent Line is favorite entry in the series. I think it's mostly due to the A.I. creation ability and being able to create your own arena lineups with those AI creations - I took hours and hours training A.I.'s so that I could create opponents that would challenge me. A few of them were actually really strong. I always wanted to let other AC players (the few of us) go through my AI arena lineup to see how they'd do - not knowing the little tricks I picked up examining their weaknesses. Also with the addition of A.I., you could go into Versus and load your A.I.'s and let them face off against the game's ranked opponents - which was also satisfying.
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 haha it’s worth it - in my opinion. But honestly the AI training is tricky. I put in hours and hours of (what I thought was) quality battles and I’d check my AI AC, and he’d be as dumb as a box of rocks - shooting at everything w/ no lock, blading if you get within 20 feet - you name it. Go back battle again - return still dumb. It’s really an unknown science. Like you have to check it after the right battle. What I noticed. You want your AI to be an A rank (you can check via versus or doubles arena) you have to fight A rankers- mostly Mobius. Avoid enemy lock-on as much as possible (easier said than done) Try to have as high a hit percentage w/ weapons as possible. You accidentally spam the blade and miss - your AI will be an idiot at close range. You shoot your gun at walls just spamming the fire button- the AI will do it too. It really forces you to play perfect - only to check your AI and it’s STILL stupid lol. Rarely you get that AI gem that’s a monster…but it’s gratifying
Enjoying the series, my 1st game was project phantasma, got it at a random store in a mall up in North Carolina when we were visiting relatives, and I've been hooked since...well until 5 came out...but we don't talk about 5 no no no no, we don't talk about 5. Silent Line is still my favorite of the series, so looking forward to the next episode!
I don't know why this channel was suggested to me, but I like this! Try to sound a little less bored (without sounding hyperactive) when narrating and you have a good start for your channel!
For me the most nostalgic and memorable game in this series will always be Master of Arena, it was my first AC game so I might be abit biased. AC2 always felt too slow for me, one of the things I always liked about the ps1 games was how fast paced they were. AC3 felt like they were bringing the high speed back abit, but It's not till we get to my real favorite era, AC 4 and For Answer, which took high speed gameplay to the next level. I'm looking forward to your next entry in this overview series, but I'll be honest, I'm looking forward to your video on the AC4 era the most! PS: I can tell your confidence and articulation have improved over the course of you making this series, keep it up!
Master of Arena was an absolute masterpiece. It is my second all-time favorite in the series behind AC 3. The soundtrack was great, the storyline was solid, and the game play was fast & challenging. I really enjoyed disc 2 with its various tournament arenas.
Just found your channel and enjoyed the trip down memory lane. I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers as your content is very well put together and the narration is great. Your voice reminds me a bit of hirumaredx or madseasonshow with the slight monotone (it's a compliment as I love both their channels). Now to go see what happened to my other favorite mech game, Mechwarrior
I love AC3, I have first in the series for me bias though. There is just enough from various categories that meshes together that makes it stand out. If another AC does get released I hope they will lean into the "you have made it this far and made this much money, enjoy your overpowered gun" the way Insomniac did in the Ratchet & Clank series. Give me the Karasawa and then let me buy the AC1 equivalent of it and shred everything. I enjoy your nonchalant delivery, thanks for making the vid.
Yo! This was the game I actually had. I didn't understand the game at the time, being around 10 or 11 so I managed to never complete the game since I got stuck at about rank 68 and one of the missions was too hard for me to do with my set up and I ran out of money in game to buy more parts.
I appreciate your not taking the loud obnoxious rout. Ive passed by so many creators that do that and I think that loud obnoxious has a place in streaming for reaction content during gaming, but beyond that, so yeah, thanks for keeping it... Human. lol.
As someone who started with ac3 this was probably my favorite review and i also agree with most of the criticism too. Also on tht point of not like ac3 than others imo not sure if it's because i played it to death I like ac moa more so I that's very maybe worth looking at somewhere down the line.
They're talking about hybridizing between early gens and gen 4. I think you're the best AC channel I've watched so far and would like to see more. I saw your Elden Ring content too and I think you'll be able to find your own niche. I think your distinct voice and light joke delivery is distinct to your channel. Hope to see you more soon, otherwise, happy holidays and enjoy Fires of Rubicon when it comes out! Also can we talk about parry blades?
Parry blades sucked in the older games. Gen 4 made them 1 shot but they're hard to hit with so that's the trade off. Other than that theres not much to say about them. Thankyou for the support and 4th gen video will come at the end of January
Hahahahahaha
Doesn't Apple Boy go against you as well for the same reason as Huntress?
Apple Boy was My Man
Love my bro Spartan
I was always too stingy to take any companions and ended up barely hearing any voice lines.
As a game developer, these kinds of reviews are really valuable for getting a sense of how players feel about things. Forces me to see stuff in a newly unfamiliar way. Thank-you.
Surprised you didn’t mention the biggest improvement 3 made, quad legs actually have walking animations now!
Ah darn was that 3? I'll have to mention tht in silent line. Same with the quick boosting extensions

I agree.
I really regret not playing the Armored Core games when they were new, especially since the mech genre has dwindled away to nothing.
Are you such old? I was kiddie when AC was new.
I’d argue mecha is still pretty much alive, albeit in merchandise and in anime video games.
Enter Armored Core 6.

@@mistermann4163 you dont have to play it though, i know fromsoft is mainstream now, but cmon, its the old fromsoft game, its not for everyone.
These videos take so long yet go underappreciated... I love these videos, and you've got me back into playing.
That's awesome news. Thankyou
From many mecha series i encounter in my life, Armored Core is my favorite
Idk why but i'm just glued to it, even AC5 because they remind me to Front Mission Wanzer (but on steroid)
Not forgetting the mech designer, Shoji Kawamori who known for his famous works such as Macross, Aquarion, Eureka Seven and guest design for White Glint in 4 Answer
Time to make a story recap series called Armored Lore
My first ever foray into Armored Core. It quite literally changed my life.
I really miss armored core, it's the primary series I really grew up on, starting back on PS1 with AC1 and Project Phantasma. Look forward to seeing your channel grow, it's always nice to see/hear another Armored Core enjoyer
I miss playing this game, I still have my ps2 and I still have Ratchet Deadlocked, SW Batfle front GT 3 A- spec.
This one was peak AC hype for me back in the day, and the 3rd gen is still probably my favorite.
One of the coolest rewards for finishing any video game
What a blast from the past. Thanks for bringing this one back from my dusty core memories.
Zone of the enders series would be cool to do a video on.
The music in this game and AC-SL is god tier I love this series
Funny part about that mirage betrayal mission, it seems if you predominantly pick mirage missions, they will down right not betray you and even award you with more stock. Crest however did attempt to kill me but I wouldn’t call it a betrayal
Edit: ok nvm if you side with mirage they just throw the Betrayal behind the Levithan mission instead of before.
When I feel overweight I just go grab some better legs
Exile is why I have named my ACs Exile since I've encountered him. He's my favorite character to fight in the entire series.
My favorite strategy for the arena was to build a slow tank with overboost, and equip a flame thrower, then choose the factory stage. There was an alcove with a low ceiling that I'd immediately boost to. Eventually the opponent would end up in there with you, often standing on you. All you do then is flame him.
Whatta throwback, back when games were completed and not released half done with DLC
The AC series was the best . With my favorites being AC3 , AC4 and AC4A . Soo many hours building AC/NEXT then trying to S rank all the levels and bosses.
ye same lol
spent wayy too much time customizing xD
The game that introduced me to armored core. Now i own every armored core except nine breaker.
Been watching a bunch of Armored Core videos just in nostalgia and hopes for a new game, your videos are one of my favorites.
The best game in the series IMO...Silent line was also alot of fun but the missions weren't as good as AC3's.
That AC2 kurosawa sfx is the same sound that's used when Sonic sprints off in the SatAM cartoon. Must be a stock sound.
How are you playing them? I'm trying to play them too!
Armored Core 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. I've actually bought it 3 times because I kept breaking the fucking disk from over use lol
I have mixed feelings about AC3
Rebooting AC1 this early doesn't make much sense.
I plan on getting it this time
After so many betrayals in armored core I don't trust any backup that comes with you on a mission
Just realized you did the entire series already. Sorry about that. Thanks again for all your hard work on this!
I don't remember S ranking all the missions so there probably isn't anything unlocked by it. (or it's finger machine guns)
Also I think there's a left handed grenade launcher either in 3 or one of the later ones allowing for launchers on every major hard point. I think I killed Seraph as a tank build with that loadout. So much firepower, so little ammo.
S Ranking all missions gave you a part in AC3 Silent Line. I think it was a handgun.
@@spiidey1 I think that's the fingers machine gun.
@@spiidey1 No, I recall the Finger was gotten by beating Rank 1 in the Arena (Mobius) and that thing SUCKS in that game.
I thought it was the fingers too
@@boxtank5288 you’re right actually
Really enjoying this series, watched parts 1, 2 and 3 back to back last night. This game and all the ones after it are a mystery to me, so looking forward to those. Keep it up man
This was the game I started on and my whole childhood basically revolved around Armored core. So I am biased in believing that this was the best game. Man I adore this series so much, I’m so excited for 6.
I used the orbitals specifically in one mission in 3 or Silent Line where it's dusty and you can't see but the orbitals track the enemy planes so it was helpful.
ARMORED CORE IS BACK BABBYYYY!!!!!
And another great video. I think you S Ranked this overview.
3rd generation is probably the most unique mech aesthetic of the series and my personal favorite.
AC3 was my first real AC game, my friend had the PS1 demo disc (possibly from Play Station Magazine) that had the first one on it that gave like 3 missions, and more importantly VS mode
fast forward several years and that same friend rented AC3 for a week or something during the summer and was so mad at it that he just let me play it for awhile, since there were no cheats to unlock parts or anything
fast forward again to high school and my station neighbor in BCIS class mentioned Armored Core and i told him how i never got to actually play the game for more than just a few hours so he let me borrow his disc for a month, until i beat it... a bit sad that we never actually got to go against each other, because every one else i played with didn't like it because it was too hard.
Getting rid of H+ and integrating some of its' features permanently (albeit rebalanced) was definitely the right choice in later games.
Ah man I love this franchise. Can't wait for the next game, if there will be one. The ost is top notch but underrated
I absolutely loved the arena in this
This video was great.
Master of arena, silent line, Last Raven, 4 answer and verdict day are the best games
@@Azure9577 Why do you consider baseline 4 and 5 to be inferior to their direct continuations? I'd very much like to know, if you can tell me.
@@bloodykenshiro8218 I don't, you were simply asking for more content and variety as your first entry
So I simply listed the community favourites
Gamer 1000 is correct. I'd play armored core 3 before silent line tho
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 ac3 was my first ac game so I always love it
Hello from Russia. You made really interesting video series about armored core
I absolutely love armored core, but its so freaking hard. I can never get movement right, so i can only use hover legs
Commenting for the algorithm. Great video. Keep it up.
I've played at least one entry from each of the series.
AC1 was such a eye opener as a teen on all the customization and testing
AC2 to me was great, but honestly couldn't remember anything except for the design of the kawasawa
AC3 was when I got really good in the games, and noticed they 'nerfed' kawasawa and didn't have direct human+
Nexus is by far my fav entry in the series, as I felt it learned the lessons of before (maybe I just got good after so many entries)
I tried AC4 in my college years and it really all felt too fast paced for me, like Gundam, not AC
I recently picked up ACVD and have been enjoying it.
This game made me a fan. I played the hell out of this game
I will forever remember Pale Horse and 9-Ball - 2 reasons why I love this game.
Man honestly AC3 and 4 were masterpieces in my opinion. I cant wait for 6 to come out.
Wow… AC took up years of my young life. I was part of a competitive AC community. For competitions and meetups, Human Plus was banned, along with the Karasawa, Moonlight, the Crow extensions, and I forget what else. Basically any broken parts or mechanics were banned from competitive play.
i love the approach you have if you continue in this path (review game of the past) i will keep watching for sure even if it not AC
3rd Gen aside from Nexus and Ninebreaker (lol) is all available on PSP/Vita too. Easily accessible
the best part of this video series is realizing that as a kid I somehow managed to gravitate towards every OP thing in the game on instinct, I guess quickly identifying and adopting the most powerful stuff is a skill in and of itself.
My biggest complaint was that the only mission you had enoguh credits to hire two consorts ( if one wasn't already provided) was "Defend the monorial."
Watching your videos, made me realize how terrible I was at customizing my AC until this game, and that I should have considered using human plus instead of slogging through the games without them. I did use OP intensify in this entry solely to collect the unlocks as I wanted to 100 percent the game before moving to silent line, but didn't use it in silent line. It would have been fun to try out.
I really enjoy your videos, and wish I found your channel sooner You are doing a great job.
Thanks for watching. I hope we see some online consorts in AC6
These videos are so useful for a new player
I finally found all my PS2 stuff after I moved and started replaying all the PS2 Armored Core games (2, 2:AA, 3, SL.) Lots of good memories playing these games with my bud back in the day. I used to play them with a Gameshark so going back and actually playing them as intended feels fresh and challenging. Never mastered the claw technique.
Been watching all your AC videos back-to-back and loving it. Keep it up dude!
AC2
AC2: Another Age
AC3
AC3: Silent Line
Nexus
Last Raven (I ignore Ninebreaker because it was a waste of time)
Armored Core 4
Armored Core For Answer
Armored Core V
Armored Core Verdict Day
I do not actually remember what you unlock by S-ranking everything in AC3 as Its been like 20 years.
I've played almost every AC entry since the beginning. While I enjoy them all, AC 3 and Silent Line are my favorites.
AC3 was my first fromsoft game back in the day. I found it pretty intimidating as a kid but I loved the customization.
I've finished both this game and Silent Line on PSP and when I went back to do another playthrough of 3, it shocked me as to how much of a difference it makes when you play the game knowing a bunch of the mechanics of the game. I coasted through the Arena without upgrading much and it felt so satisfying.
Love this video series bro. Armored Core is so good.
You probably are already aware of this but just in case a new armored core game has been leaked for the first quarter release of from softwares 2023 lineup. I loved watching this video the nostalgia hit me like a brick. I played this game so much back in the day I took out exile only using the core with the machine gun laser built in.
Glad you're getting some views and positive feed back on these videos! Well worth the work, brotha!
Dude I freaked out I didn't even know there was an AC community but your videos have been great and I look forward to what ever comes down the line!
People generally have very strong opinions about 3&SL and 4&4A
I'm going to give the ai a try this time. I always wait until I've beaten the game to register my ac in the ai so they just turn out stupid lol
Avoid enemy lock-on as much as possible (easier said than done)
Try to have as high a hit percentage w/ weapons as possible.
That mid-air slice at 21:29 was satisfying to watch. Jolly good show sir
Can't wait for that AC:LR review
Thank you. I'm looking forward to for answer and will definitely have alot to talk about
Master of Arena was an absolute masterpiece. It is my second all-time favorite in the series behind AC 3. The soundtrack was great, the storyline was solid, and the game play was fast & challenging. I really enjoyed disc 2 with its various tournament arenas.
4:00 this part have me cracking lmao
so on point hahahahahaha
Just found your channel and enjoyed the trip down memory lane. I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers as your content is very well put together and the narration is great. Your voice reminds me a bit of hirumaredx or madseasonshow with the slight monotone (it's a compliment as I love both their channels). Now to go see what happened to my other favorite mech game, Mechwarrior
It was a slow start but it seems people are starting to watch my content. Thankyou for the compliment as it builds confidence
Been playing AC for the first time and this series is pretty cool so far.
Subbed
I love AC3, I have first in the series for me bias though. There is just enough from various categories that meshes together that makes it stand out. If another AC does get released I hope they will lean into the "you have made it this far and made this much money, enjoy your overpowered gun" the way Insomniac did in the Ratchet & Clank series. Give me the Karasawa and then let me buy the AC1 equivalent of it and shred everything. I enjoy your nonchalant delivery, thanks for making the vid.
The one gripe I have with AC 3 is that I'm not in it
I'm glad this vid popped up on my feed. I subscribed and I will check out your other stuff.
Thankyou for the support and 4th gen video will come at the end of January
from what I remember; the mission complete ranking also contributed to the OP-intensify unlocks.
Now i want to play these games again.
