The Sydney Opera House sits on Bennelong Point, on the eastern headland of Sydney Cove, named after Eora leader Bennelong. Barangaroo was Bennelong's wife, not "an Aboriginal guy", and the western headland of Sydney Cove was named after her to mirror the naming of the other headland in honour of her husband.

    • @daveg2104
      @daveg2104 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Not quite. The western headland of Sydney Cove is Dawes Point/Tar-Ra. Then there is Walsh Bay, then what was named Barangaroo Point with the development of the park. The Geographical Names Board determined that there was already a historical name for that area - Millers Point. It's possible that the area was called Ilkan maladul by the local indigenous population, based on a reference by Lieutenant William Dawes on a sketch map from 1790 labeling that headland as such.

@@daveg2104 Yep. That's the longer (and more correct) explanation. I sacrificed some accuracy for brevity, but you're right completely.

Don't forget whinged about the heat, complained about completely imaginary "woke forces", and incessantly close-talked poor andrew who was doing his damnedest to escape his minging boomer breath. What an absolute bellend.

Exactly. So much incredible food in Sydney and has fish and chips so many times🙃. It's a shame because he has a big platform and makes visually good quality content. I enjoyed some of the videos but also found some frustrating. He could've showed greater Sydney and show it for the true melting pot it is.
Don't think I've seen anyone that's not white and expat/former British in his vids either which is NOT reflective of Sydney at all 😂.
I and others suggested The Blue Mountains(and the coastal walk ) which is completely different to anywhere in the UK. But he went to all the tourist trap areas and often compared everything to England 🤷‍♀️.
I also suggested trying some of the incredible diverse food in Sydney especially popular staples like Banh Mi/Vietnamese, other SE Asian. middle eastern foods etc.
And yes went to a food court in China town 🙃. A few of us suggested much places in china town lol.
He didn't seem interested in suggestions from Aussie viewers and followed suggestions from his expat friends only. 🤷‍♀️

The island you passed was Goat Island, it was formally used for gunpowder storage and is now heritage listed. Cockatoo Island is further west near Drummoyne.
Originally there were 14 islands within Sydney Harbour but some have been joined to the mainland or joined together.

I have eaten real Spanish Tapas in a place in Spain called Santander, a Bank has been named after this place. Tatas Bravas, Octopus, Calamari, various types of cold meats, and also, i eaten Sword Fish Steak when i was in Malta with my Parents. What a very Beautiful and Gorgeous Food Server Daniella really was. Sometimes, in Life it is better not to be, to fussy with types of Food. There is no harm in trying different types and Flavours of Foods around the World. Here's a tip for visitors.
    A) get an opal card, you have to get one anyway
    B) just jump on ferries and ride them around all day. Your cost is capped at $17.80 for the day! There are ferry routes all over the harbour and up the Parramatta river. Jump off one and get on another ALL DAY if you want. And who wouldn't want that?
Why pay for a cruise when you can ride public transport.
    Thank me later.

Well all them villans in Dr Who were most likely 70's 80's pop stars.....I bet Elton John could have been on Dr Who with his boots he had in his hayday........I wonder if James Bond as driven an Eletctic car yet.

Hate to be picky but Paul Hogan was a rigger, not a painter. A rigger has the task of assembling the work platforms for the painters.
Thumbs up for Daniella. Well done guys and great effort by Andrew. 👋👋👌👌👍👍

Great video Lee I'm with you on the food. Don't fancy octopus the other stuff looked good though. Seeing the princess cruises ship in Sydney harbour brings back good memories for me.

Enjoyed this video with Andrew who has been an absolute star and his local knowledge has really made your Sydney videos.
I've had octopus in a seafood dish in Sibiu, Romania and it was really good. You don't know what you're missing Lee!
PS Can you please leave the video descriptions on screen for long enough for them to be read. When watching on my Smart TV I often have to rewind when they disappear half way through my reading them.
