I loved Perth very friendly place. Got to Freemantle ha got a photo of me in the convict musuem in a cell. Sad days back then. Did a trip Perth to Rottnest Island wow a stunning place. Met the cute Quokkers ah.We went on to Darwin on to Kakadu & crocs The Rock The Olgers & Alice Springs. We spent a few days in the out back its more vast then what I thought loved it. We were checked each day 1) water bottles 2) brimmed hat 3) sun screen. Cairns wow then did all down that coast. Really needed much more than the month. Thanks every body in Oz you were all so lovely.

I have done the ecomony flight to Perth twice ..I nearly lost the will to live 😮... I saved for my last trip to see my dtr in Perth...Emirates Business Class from Manchester...omg..it was the dogs...it was pure luxury..not a plastic glass or cutlery in sight😊.🎉. The food was AMAZING,champagne and drinks on tap. Best bit was the roomy chair/bed with pillows and a duvet. I caught an Aussie 🐜bug and on the way back they plied me with hot honey and lemon drinks and was able to sleep from Perth to Dubai.😴. Parker chauffeur service both ends too,it really was FABULOUS. Ty for sharing your vlog🎉...it reminded me to save hard again for business class🎉🎉

I did this trip business class last month and it was rather good. A large seat (only one down each side) which went into a complete flat bed. Rollers massaged the back of the chair. Three course meal with metal cutlery, tablecloth and drinks at my disposal. A good 8hrs sleep (lights are dimmed and windows darkened to encourage sleep)and I was very refreshed on arrival in Perth. The business lounge in Perth was also something else, compete with shower rooms and relaxation lounge. You will have to drag me into economy from now on!! I’m feeling your pain (well done though). Thank you for the journey through Perth. It’s brought back some lovely memories

I was in Sydney when QANTAS did the non stop flight from London. My FIL was with Rolls Royce. It was a pretty amazing feat back then. They stripped the plane bare, no luggage, Special fuel, special route to take advantages of trade winds, etc . z they even towed the plane out to the end of the runway.
    That was back in 1989.

I’ve flown from The Uk to Australia and return more than 20 x .. it’s a nightmare trip in economy , and I’ve never done a non stop flight and never will . You were lucky to have had a vacant seat next to you , it makes a huge difference . It’s normal to be charged a surcharge for credit card payments , even for a $5 cup of coffee . The hotel in Perth seemed very cheap by Aussie standards , if you get to Sydney expect a wallet shock , it won’t be that cheap . Enjoy your stay Lee , Australia is a great holiday destination .

@@jsan9389 . Your travels were obviously years ago . A Hostel in Sydney now will cost you $1000. / week , and the airline comfort has gone downhill . There maybe a fancy Inflight Entertainment System and self tinting windows , but it still takes 24 hrs and generally less comfort overall . I been flying long haul since 1981 , it’s no quicker now and certainly less comfort .

Those of us who live in Perth are used to travelling long distances to get anywhere. It's part of life. I like Qantas because the crew are friendly and they feed you very well. I've flown to England a few times but I don't moan about the flight because I'm on holiday! I heard a woman in England moaning because she had to fly for 2 hours for her holiday!!!

The most challenging jobs to employ are dealing with people, so they automate them. I was taught this when in engineering: You automate jobs that are hard to use, which are hazardous or highly repetitive, which results in absenteeism. And so you will see more automation. So, like the good book says, "You reap what you sow."

If other people want to stay comatose, they should wear a mask. We flew to Sydney with BA on their Boeing 777 300, they made us keep our window blind down. I kept opening it for a sneaky peek and a few pics

I took a 17 hr flight last month to Oz (DFW > MEL) on a Qantas 787-9 in Economy. Flight was great, cabin crew was great, no complaints. I've made the trek multiple times and I've learned how to prepare for it, so it's not arduous for me at all. Depriving myself of sleep the night before and thinking about what I will want easy access to (non-messy snacks, noise-cancelling headphones, book, really good neck support for sleeping, water) and thus packing my underseat carry-on wisely makes all the difference. I slept for 6.5 hrs in flight and landed at dawn with my body already on Australia time. Done this way I don't get jet lag if I'm flying on a plane with lower altitude cabin pressure like a 787, 380, or 350. I find it's a bit more difficult to avoid jet lag going the other direction and coming back to the States, but I usually only experience it for one day. You just have to plan it well.

My first LHR to Melbourne was in 1980 and took 36 hours. I've done the large long slogg and will never do it again. Prefer the two stops, 8 hours with a stop in Dubai/Qatar/Bahrain/Abu Dhabi then another 8 hours to South East Asia with a stop in Singapore/Bangkok/Hong Kong/Kuala Lumpur/Bandar Seri Bagawan, followed by another 8 hours to Melbourne. Even if stop is only a quick transit it makes me feel physically so much better and able to face the next leg.

QANTAS.... Lee you are very polite, wanting another beverage and waiting for the Drinks Cart!! We from the Mining fraternity NEVER wait - we just hit the overhead Cabin Crew alert, Aussie cabin crews are totally used to this, on both domestic and International flights, they will get you whatever you want, pretty much whenever you want. Don't be shy asking, they''ll just think your an Aussie with a funny accent!! p.s. my #1 Airline is Ethiopian - lowest cost Business and the finest Business Class as well as one of the newest and best maintained fleets in the world. The 737Max8 a tragedy (Boeing Greed / Murder) that should never have happened, I flew on one of them when they only had two, the other one crashed a couple of weeks later. And yes, the 787 is a lovely aircraft but not quite the Airbus A380 which is in a league of its own.

Love the video Lee, done the London to Perth twice, once in economy exit row and the other in Premium economy. We use our Qantas frequent flyer points to bring down the price of Premium economy, to roughly the same price as economy seats. In late 2025 you will be able to fly from London to Sydney nonstop on the A350-1000 which will have Wi-Fi. The flight time is 19hrs south and 21hrs north due to the Jetstream. Premium economy is great for long haul flights, if you can afford twice economy price.

Not sure I could spend 3 weeks in that hotel the room looks so small, the Premier that you stayed in at Heathrow has got to be one of the best Premier's.

Great video! Qantas looks like a fantastic airline. The snack bar at the back of the plane looked good. BA impressed me recently on a flight from Phoenix to London when they had loads of snacks laid out at the back. I think the longest flight I’ve ever done is about 13 hours, either from Seoul to Munich or Guangzhou to Rome. I usually don’t sleep on planes, I am sometimes tired but I don’t want to miss anything for the video. I don’t like it when the crew lock the windows on the Dreamliner. They obviously do it so people can sleep and so daylight doesn’t flood the cabin. But I like having control of my window. Some airlines charge a lot of money to book a seat so not being able to look out of the window for most of the flight is pretty frustrating. Even on other aircraft types, the crew will almost always come round and ask you to close your window blinds (even when it won’t get light for several hours) before they dim the cabin lights and get their rest. I think they just want everyone to sleep so it’s less work for them.

When the drinks trolley comes around, feel free to ask for a couple of bottles of wine. I always do as they’re tiny bottles and saves the plane staff an extra trip when you ask for an inevitable other. 😉

The “dark” period on the flight is something they do on all flights to and from Australia. It’s to give you a chance to sleep if you can, before you reach your destination. If you had a manual window blind the cabin crew would have made you shut it during the dark period. The food looked very nice. Your TimTam was only one of a range of flavours. Get thissen off to a supermarket and make a better selection. Woolworths and Coles can satisfy your every need.

      @Nick.Colemann 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I've done this direct flight return six times - Heathrow - London. The problem with the dark period is that it aligns with the take off airport time zone and not the destination time zone. That means it hinders your ability to adjust to the new time zone during the flight.
I ignore what the plane lights are doing and behave as if I am in Perth from the moment the plane takes off.

Hi Lee , my wife and went to OZ in 1995 but we went to the west side. A six week tour from Sydney / Brisbane / Cairns and a lot of stop’s in between. The Aussie humour is great, the food is brilliant, I know you like fish / chips so try barramundi / chips fantastic. All our fights on that trip were with QF no complaints at all, thanks oz great memoiries.

I go to Brisbane most years to visit son and his family. After treating myself once to Business Class with Emirates on the A380, I just couldn’t go back to Economy. Business is the difference between enduring the journey and quite enjoying it, especially as Emirates pick you up from your house and when in Australia they take you to your final destination, and vice versa. Worth saving up for if at all possible.

I have been to Australia twice and am in my 70,s. Have done NZ 4 times. Every time straight through. I have no regrets and thats economy. Of course you have to realise there is a time adjustment so use the flight to adjust. Rest eyes and sleep dont interact with all those entertainments and films on board except for short periods. I have found the trip to Aus requires a sleep once arrived its been an am arrival so an afternoon 3hours got me totally aus time adjusted. The return jet lag even with sleep seemed to require going to bed earlier than usual for the next five days. Thats my jet lag. I love the A380,s always find them spaciousish i am 6 foot and take a diagonal seat position. As for the 17 hour flight. I think quantas have given a little half inch of extra room which is needed but the flight passed quicker than anticipated. When the plane is closed down with dimmed lights don,t forget the free snacks bar in the rear galley where you can get a fresh cuppa ask the steward and do some stretches. Your neck rest needs to be back to front to support your cheeks and a sagging jaw. Yes its a very long haul just don,t fight it relax into it.

With increased automation at the airport you'd think that prices would come down.. but nope. I hate it, and even as someone who works in IT, I have far more confidence in the human getting it right as opposed to the machine.

Concord will never receive an airworthiness certificate again and no pilots are currently qualified to drive it. Brian Trubshaw would be livid. Shame those magnificent RR Olympic engines will never go thru M1 again. Still the only aircraft apart from the SR71 Blackburd that could stop traffic and virtually make you cry at its magnificence

Welcome to Perth Lee ❤ So glad you chose here instead of over East, Perth is a hidden gem that I am so lucky to call my home ❤
Although, the weather gods are being a bit over the top with the heat at the moment…..so thankful for aircon😂😂
I did the Qantas PER-LHR trip last June and I found the flight amazing and it went so quickly, for me anyway 😊 The crew were fantastic and the food was plentiful and very tasty, I was sat in the row in front of you in the aisle seat, I especially liked that part of the aircraft as the cabin section was a bit smaller, plus we got served meals first. 👍
I do agree with the window shade comment you made regarding the crew keeping them dark, they did not turn the controls back on until we were crossing the Channel at the end of the flight, which was a bit disappointing, as my flight was pretty much dark outside the whole way, so I am not sure why that was, as I and other passengers next to me love flying over Europe and seeing all of the different cities lights? Yes, it is a bit claustrophobic too👍
Hope you have a trip to Rottnest Island planned? Plenty of walking can be done there or hire a bike 😊
Anyway, hope you enjoy the rest of your time here, stay cool and don’t forget to take water with you wherever you go, looking forward to watching your next videos 👍😂😊❤
