@@yuichan9747 shut up dude Chris isn't better Luke bc first of all you can't say who's "better" bc Chris might be faster /more powerful in metal but Luke is more than just a metal drummer and overall I think Luke's better bc he's more versatile (no disrespect to Chris tho I love both of em but at the end of the day Luke is king)

@@retrorewind6042 it's your opinion and that's o.k. but i can listen to metal for hours and this "exagerate wall to wall never ending blasting tempo" makes me tired in 10 minutes.So this is not metal like i use to listen. For the ones that say the mix sucks, its cause they clearly just took the direct mix from the board. Meaning, the sound wasnt mixed to listen on headphones, rather the sound quality was mixed for the room he was actually playing in. As an example, most likely the snare he uses has a higher end tone and bottom end live, and the room had some echo (being a convention hall), so the mic is flat as to not increase those attributes but only bring up the volume for the room.
I prefer live mixes because I like the buttom end and raw tone it has

On headphones it sounds just ok. In that particular room it sounded 🔥!!! The term it was mixed specifically for that room/ situation or environment. Very big difference between if it would've been mixed for your studio quality headphones or for a live audience. If they would've mixed it for your listening pleasure it would've sounded like garbage for the audience who was there. Hope that educates the one's who are complaining👌

Knowing Luke for many years now. Since we were 11. I have grown far from him but still admire his genius and always have. He has taught me well and so have I to him back in the day.

Pure genius! Another excellent Live masterpiece performance by one of the greats! I love the studio “hos down” the most because of the set that was used. But this one was pretty awesome too! It’s really incredible how he did the whole piece with doing the main rhythms of the lick, but doing entirely different things due to the unique smaller setup of the kit. I just can’t say enough of how amazing Luke Holland is!
Glad this was posted. One of the greatest songs he has done with jason. Hopefully he can play mirriors or Tendinitis at the meinl drum festival.

thats because he is cold when he plays. he never looks like he enjoys it. for me thats a no no.
sfingus that's the art of it some drummers look like they're enjoying themselves and some don't but if you ask me it's not that he's not enjoying himself he's just focused man
so you think for example other drummers that can play the same stuff and headbang or at least SMILE or... at least move his head or something... he is like hes made of stone. focus is one thing. FLOW and ENERGY is something completely different. ;)
sfingus yes I believe he and others could show some emotion for this track. But at the same time it is some pretty difficult material to play even for seasoned drummers but since this is a Meinl drum Festival I think he was looking to play precisely more than anything else
i bet he was. but he looks the same after 10 years of playing. because no flow is in him... he is just like a piece of wood that roboted his way through hard hard hard and continuous work to get to this point right here. but his emotions are the same as they were 10 years agoo ;) you can go and see for yourself on any of his videos. 100 videos , 0 emotions. thats just " his style "

I don't know about that one but his 7 piece is a dw collectors maple with an exotic mapa burl finish and rose gold hardware (only rose gold dw hardware ever so ur not gonna get that but it looks good with gold as well) and his sizes on the 7 piece are 22x18 kick 14x6.5 snare 8x6, 10x7, 12x8, 14x14 and 16x14 toms

It was the last song of his set if I remember correctly and he's not using heel toe he's using a mix of full leg and ankle with a little bit of swivel and that double kick is insanely fast but usually he nails it

Is it just me or does this mix sound kinda bad? No bottom end to the kick and snare sounds like a room mic.

You do realise that Kick is 100% mic'd up yeah? so Yes the mix is fucking awful.

It’s the mix. Whoever did the last few years meinl festival mix should be fired. But some other performances weren’t as bad like Chris Coleman’s or Benny grebs. But Alex rudingers sounds the absolute best with his Tama starclassic B.B. hyperdrives and he personally gets nolly to mix all his videos. Most of his videos on his channel are mixed by nolly as well and he is just the best in the business imo when it comes to drum sound and mixing. The year matt garstka performed the meinl festival I thought sounded the best out of all the meinl festivals. Not sure if it’s the same guy or not but garstkas performance with the Tama star maple kit he used sounded great and the cymbals sounded so clear and perfect especially his fat stack and extra dry China he used.
