Not having a foot cam on this man is downright criminal
I agree, but it's not that important in this video, since you can see the bass drum bouncing every time he hits it.
@@jonhattanrai oh, it's important.
@@bcgunner9324 Apparently I need to disclose that I was being sarcastic too.
@@jonhattanrai Why? I would agree with you there is no need for a foot cam you perverts.
@@jonhattanrai he smashes them things so hard rhey come back and smack him in his shins lol
That's why he turns the felt the other way 🤣
Get someone who looks at you the way Chris Turner looks at his floor Tom
Haha, I just saw you on his Instagram Story
HOW DID I MISS THAT WTF
Christian Peterson yeeeeeeeee sonnn
LUCID若 達人 ルシッド MY MAN!! THIS BAND IS MY FAVORITE
Killing it!!
Legend has it that metronomes play to Chris Turner. This is unreal dude.
😂😂
He is more than good, he's awesome .
But metronomes first crush is Matt garstka followed by Tomas haake .
Best TH-cam comment ever
Never see tech death bands before?
You need see Luke Holland 😎
Mixer at Sabian needs to get some credit. Dude is top notch
How he gets that punchy sound playing that quick with his feet without triggers is absolutely insane, Chris you are incredible to watch, truly an outstanding drummer in this genre, I'd say the best actually.
@@demonicsweaters yeah I was like "hold on" lmao
This mix is heavenly
No doubt.
I'd love to have some room mics in there. some day...
that snare drum and bass mix is killing me
Lacked room for my taste
Those bass drum flams during the breakdown are everything. Still holds up 5 years later. Amazing.
WHAT THE FUCK I REMEMBER THIS SONG COMING OUT
Great drumming isn’t just about speed or power.... It’s mostly groove. Chris brings it all together here. This is subtlety one of the sickest, tightest displays of what human beings are capable of. If you played most drummers just the instrumentals of this song and told them to start drumming wherever felt right, can’t imagine most picking the entry point and casual badassery chris does. Could have sprinkled in some flashes of a kick cam to show the brilliance going on down yonder.
1:04-1:32 is honestly oddly relaxing! That riff is so great! I don't know why I find it so calming, but there's an odd relaxing beauty to it!
Factual
It’s a testament to his musical genius. He knows when it’s time to go hard, but also when a simple groove can be more powerful. Well written and flawlessly executed.
Even those jeans can't contain him!
double bass flams at 2:35 - 2:55. so savage
What a machine.
Seriously. So going to be working on that now...
genious
I love those extra snare hits he threw in too. They sound perfect there.
that was fucking DIRTY
Quality of the drums for no triggers is 10/10 crazy good sound engineer and drummer makes a perfect cover
Great comment , this describes why I like Chris and this production.
This is not a cover :D
It is kind of funny how this guy seems so expressive during interviews and such and basically becomes a robot when drumming. Impressive stuff
I can skip Christmas this year. This video was my gift
Rudy Matos agreed
It sets a really unfair precedent when you start endorsing robots, give us homosapiens a chance here, guys.
chickenbeforeegg the best answer ever! 😂😂
that has to why he doesn't know he has a hole in his pants!
They makin these androids look a lot like humans these days
but the mechanism in its neck still has some bugs so the head unit hangs down
Yall are killing me😂😭
I bought a drum kit because of this guy .
And now you already sold it?
Funny, he's why I sold mine
If anyone else is “selling drums” because of this guy please PM me because I’m looking to start, PayPal ready
(Side note if another musician made you sell your drums you’re a fool)
@@iambrowntown it's a joke... 🙄
love chris! that shits majestic
Truant MYFHC hey truant!
He's an animal eh Truant!
Yeaaaa boiiiiu
YEEEEEEE BOiiii!
Could Imagine Chris in Jinjer Truant? Omg! That would be pretty sweet to be honest. He plays that style that would really pair nicely with Eugene and Tatianas style of music.
you know he's hitting hard if you look at the kick drum wanting to jump off the pedal. Absolute beast.
one of the best sounding drum mixes i've heard in a while. everything is so punchy yet articulate and dynamic. kudos!
omg sg best drummer watches chris turner too
From what I seen of a recent peek at the next album he’s hitting it really really hard 0 triggers
@@terogates1 I'll believe it when I see it. All drummers sound the same today. No individuality in drummers and drums today.
@@richardhenry5858 how about now with his side project. Lmao, dude is completely 100% natural
@@terogates1 I think it sounds great, but these are definitely triggered sounds. You can see the piezos taped to his drum heads when they do overhead shots, as well as the complete lack of a kick drum mic would suggest it's 100% sample. I'm not against this at all, but it's silly to pretend he's not using technology when he is.
1:48-2:05 is so damn sick. I can just watch it over and over
Chris just KILLED it. I can't even comprehend how tight his playing is.
Get him a jeans endorsement
Those metric modulated end hits he added sound so crisp. Amazing.
the drunk camera man was fired
Athos Oliver the way that camera man holds it feels like in a sinking boat
Lmao
he's working for matt mcguire now.
This is so much better than that shit
Shizen反射 or dude got sober
So tight and precise. This guy looks so awkward when he plays but he’s always on point. Also love this specific track. Sounds amazing.
To this day I believe this man is an alien 🤣🤣 the way he moves his head and neck while he plays absolutely perfectly just isn’t human
His focus and control is amazing, and that drum set is BEAUTIFUL!
One of the most underrated drummers right now. Super creative, super precise --- just inspiring
that kick is mic'd and mixed to perfection its sounds so good
Absolutely insane. Your playing is interesting from the start of the song all the way to the end. I’m a guitarist but I could watch and listen to this man play the drums all day 🤯🤯
I could literally listen to instrumental OAA all damn day.
so much stuff that i enjoy here, but the one thing i like is the way this song sounds without vocals. it is beautiful. Has that loop going on, creating an ambient. Also, shoutout to Chris"s barber. :)
The only song of OAA that people cover, cause that the only OAA song that can be played by someone else than Chris
Was just running through that myself :')
Ive always thought this
And still can't be played well :P
There’s a dude that covers Clocks very well go check it out 👌👌
But not event close
I love the fact that unlike most drummers on these series, you can tell this is his actual setup (not an endorsed kit) cause it sounds just like the record!
Fuck! I love Chris's playing. Few drummers have the ability to make something this technical look, and sound, so organic and beautiful.
A lot of people play super hard things and make it look really easy. Chris plays super hard things that appear to be as hard as they sound. Man is so tense and laser focused
Amazing drummer!
I remember seeing the "Clocks" video all those years back and knew Chris Turner was special, Pretty amazing to see how far he's come. Rock on man
Instrumental version let everyone appreciate better the work behind this masterpiece \m/
well then. i casually listen to them but this is awesome to see how well of a drummer he is in cahoots with the DAW produced sounds that are on the album too. A+
Usually I find that metal drumming gets kinda boring with just all the double bass and speed licks but this really impressed me
Yosef Elias Meh, the song itself sounds exactly like Animals As Leaders. Like every other Djent/ math band.
FanaticalDrummer it really doesn’t lol. AAL sounds absolutely nothing like this, especially the new album. have you even listened to these bands, or are you just from the “everything after Meshuggah is just a Meshuggah clone” camp?
FanaticalDrummer AAL hardly has any songs that sound like this one. In fact I can’t think of one. They’re both technical bands and both use metric modulation; that’s about the only similarity.
Then you dont know AAL lol. The entire guitar tuning, bass, synth patterns and background digi overlays are completely what AAL does now like every other technical Djent band. The entire sound is copy and paste. If this was playing, NO ONE would know who they were.
Lol it sounds nothing like Animals as Leaders
Wow, drums, cymbals sound so good and tight. Guy is a beast. So smooth, double bass crazy...love the old school pillow in the base drum..used to do that in the 80s..people still do it. Love it.
It’s so crazy how he can do these drum parts and seem so tense.
Best technical drummer on earth by far!!!! Cheers...
See how hard he smashes his drums? Because he doesn't use triggers. So he has to create the intensity through force.
A true G
It’s not about him being called “the awkward robo-drummer guy”, but it’s about his passion for drumming and giving all his best for the music especially for their band.
Foot cam would be nice...
So would acoustic drums lol.
Shankabottomus have you read the description?
Yes, I read the description. I've been drumming, recording, and playing live for 15 years. The description is bullshit.
Go check out the other sabian video chris turner straight up if u want foot video. Cant believe you're doubting his foot work. Its obvious that he's capable of much more. Out of the album this song has the least double bass.
This reads as a fetish comment
My favorite song off the album. Thanks for posting! Chris is a beast!
That triplet feel at the end got my shook
I love how these drums sound. Amazing song, amazing drums, amazing sound, great job! This is some next level kinda playing here folks
Wouldn't be surprise if someone made a video "Chiropractor reacts to Chris Turner....."
Tomáš Hradil the fact is that the level of balance required to pull that kind of paterns and cordination (changing subdivisions all the time) between the upper and lower part of the body is of the charts, but i agree with you in your observation
Or Dave Elitch.
Man I love this dude. He’s definitely in a field of his own but his skills are so good! Keep on trucking dude!
The ghost notes are haunting me...
his kicks are obv nxt lvl but ive always been impressed with his cymbal work - so many ccool sounds
Waited for this vid to come out
I was hooked from the moment he first crashed without the bass drum.
I had to pick up my jaw from the floor after the video was finished.
Triggers can not reach this natural precision. Well done Chris. God bless you.
Damn the drum sound has some great audio engineering work for Chris' incredible playing.
this dude just flammed the kick drum wut
was about to comment that lmao. Outrageous
What an absolute flex
His consistency is so insane that it almost sounds like programmed drums, the timing is insane
This is what mastered ultra instinct looks like in real life😂😂😂 hot damn bro. The god of drumming
My favourite modern drummer of all time. Fucking amazing Chris, you're the best.
This guy is a drum prodigy!
This is my favorite track off this album for sure! And obviously Chris is an amazing drummer!!
3:06...may or may not borrow that “anti-climatic” double crash, that was dope
Flammed kick patterns will always have a special place in my heart ♥️
The robot is back!
Chris you're incredible! For some reason those kick flams really add a nice touch. Keep it up, brother!
Nothing crazy or technical about this part but when he comes in at the beginning with the two crashes alone it's crazy how he makes it work most drummers won't hit a cymbal unless its accompanied by a drum other than keeping time
He hit a ghost note at the same time
@@Kuroi_chō holy shit just noticed lmao
Pure raw talent. This dude is 110% bananas
Mr ghost note
Jack Farnworth that’s Matt Garstka
Matt Gartska
Jack Farnworth Dan Searle is pretty good at them
what wroe_danny says
How about brian lada?
I've never heard someone do a bass drum Flem before, it was well-placed and sounded really good. Keep up the great unique work man, I particularly enjoy your style, also I live in Alaska so cheers to you guys! :-)
The god Turner
Dude, I love the writing Chris did for this track. It perfectly accents everything going on and has a bounce that is so groovy. Plus those feet are killer. Such good writing.
This dude's feet are just mental...holy smokes. When first heard this song I thought the drums were programmed. Shame on me... Wow.
Bass drum work is astonishing
This band is so unique. From singer to their drummer. So sad they switch vocalists tho 😢
I've never heard of this kid, but great drummer. Finesse and power, and taste. Taste is tough to teach, so on top of his incredible talent he also has that thing that just is or isn't
The Master.
Completely blew me away! This shit is absolutely bonkers the precision is ridiculously flawless. I now have a new favorite drummer
who else was singing the lyrics? 🤘❤
@Depressed Kitten sameee
Whistling the lyrics..
DW Chris Android 2.0 Turner drummer is awesome!! just kiddin. you killed it!!
1:47 - 2:02 is some insanely creative and high level stuff.
Wait... so is the rest of the video.....
He has the same groove as Travis Barker, but is much much faster and punchier with the double kick.
@@DV-zv4ox 😂🤣
When the technique is so preciouse!
And not just about speed!
second verse groove is epic 1:46 - 2:02
The best thing the B&Q lumber aisle has ever seen… I’m a little worried for his neck pain in the future but geez he’s just too good
LMAO Chris put a ride cymbal and didn't give it a single hit during the song :D
I filmed more than one cover that day ;)
Some more to wait! Awsome news, Chris :)
i don't even know that, until i read your comment dude 😅
Glad to see Chris get some more recognition. He's earned it and then some!
If ANYONE knows how they mixed/mastered that kick... I need to know. It sounds so amazing. I'm trying to get my kick drum to sound similar. Could definitely use some help
I need to know too
I did mine did you try ligma?
Yess that camera work is soooo much better than on the previous playthroughs
Cymbal specs not included in the descriptions anymore? C'mon Sabian!

Chris Turner > Luke Holland?
there's a comparison??
Amvienttz Chris is on another worldly plane than Luke. I love Luke's style but Chris is just a god.
Lol. I actually laughed out loud at this. I thought you were joking. Like wait this guy thinks Holland is anywhere even near this level? Lol
Tory Duda i think it’s fair to say that chris is very unique and is quite honestly a monster at drumming. however, you really shouldn’t pretend that luke holland “isn’t even near this level” because there’s honestly so many things that Luke can do that Chris can’t and the other way as well. 😂 point being they are both insane. i couldn’t tell you which one is “better”.
I mean, Luke is sick and honestly music is a matter of taste, but chris's creativity is just off the charts. I honestly have not heard jazz, rock or metal drummers that utilize the stuff Chris uses in a same musical way. Yeah they do it in drum solos and clinics etc. But incorporating it into, quite frankly, difficult to play music, but in a way it is still damn musical and fits perfectly, that's just mindblowing and even though some drummers match his skills, there are very few that are as creative as Chris in my opinion. And I don't think luke is as creative so, I get the comparison is not really fitting. And if you listen to OAA, it's not like Chris is overusing anything. Every song is very distinctive. And they're all very entertaining to me. I can't listen to them every day but damn they are unique and so is Chris.
the breakdown part is absolutely insane
It would be nice to know what cymbals he is using.
Tim alright, tell me what china and effects cymbals he’s playing
Tim are you sure it isn’t a Holy China?
Tim you are rather arrogant. I was asking because I didn’t know. You act as if it were a dumb request. How do you learn if you don’t ask?
I usually google the drummer and look for a resource. But yes those cymbals named are what he uses. HOWEVER, the Holy Chinas can be 17”, 19” or 21”. They can also be AA, Signature or Vault versions. Which are all drastically different. Hi hats are probably AAX or Vault, because of the clarity and bright tone. Maybe Xplosion, or Xcelerators. Ride could be a stadium ride or common aax/ aa model used in metal. Dry ride, raw bell ride, rock ride, xplosion ride, powerbell ride etc.

Rly not... He is the best Drummer ive ever seem.. I Play drums for 14 Years and i can say this ;)
Amazing sir, just amazing
Wow Sabian actually put out a half decent video.
No triggers just twicked mic production and of course mastered 💯💯
