Blood Recipient Nicole Hall's Story

While giving birth to her third child Haxton, Nicole experienced an amniotic fluid embolism - a life-threatening birth complication that can affect both the mother and child. Amniotic fluid embolism is rare and is a leading cause of maternal death. Nicole received 48 units of blood and multiple platelet and plasma transfusions to save her life after giving birth.
Nicole is a nurse and blood donation advocate, and Vitalant was thrilled to celebrate her at our 2024 Lifelines Event, where she had the chance to personally thank seven of her blood donors.
