Thank-you so much!! I went on a fishing trip 600 km from home. We towed our boat to the lake. At the lake we hit some potholes and the symptoms you described happened. The engine died many times on the way to the cabin. It got to the point where my 2003 Tahoe would not even crank. After a whole bunch of troubleshooting I finally gave up and was making arrangements for a tow truck (300 km tow paid by CAA), my son was going to take off work and bring a flat deck trailer to bring it the last 300 km from home. Another friend was going to bring his truck to pick up my family and boat. I saw your video and I fixed it as per your instructions!!! It saved me so much trouble and money! If you are ever in Alberta, drop by, I owe you a refreshment! Thanks again!!

Great & Valuable Info! Thank you SIr!!!
After new ABS parts and checking all the ABS sensors on my 2003 Suburban, my mechanic and I could not figure out why ABS lights were on and all the warning bells were being triggered. Well, I was scheduled to go to an electrical auto shop this very morning, but last night I saw your video and this morning I copied what you did. Bam, Wam, Slam! It worked!!!
Furthermore, I found two loose ground wires under frame area driver's side (one under driver's door and one under the headlight area that is connected to the battery negative cable). Tightened them up & also put new terminals on ground wires on top driver's side near hood.
Thank you & I thank the Lord for you.

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to share this. Been having the same problem for months. Drives great sometimes until the locks start going off by themselves and I lose power/acceleration. I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe as well. When I finally came across your video last night I went straight to my mechanic this morning and when I popped the hood and he reached in there he pulled out the same wire, just dangling. He did exactly what you did and my truck runs beautifully! I knew it was something simple, just didn’t know where to start! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

My car started with it going into reduce engine power mode every now and then for a few months. Until one day it started doing what your car did and then finally quit that afternoon. Most of the stuff I read pointed to a bad bcm so I replaced that and it still didn’t work. I checked a few ground connections that I could locate and everything looked good. I gave up and was literally about to call a mechanic until I did one more google search and found this video lol. It was still connected but when I tugged on it. It came right off. It was corroded really bad. I did exactly what you did and it worked. Thanks for making this video. You really helped me out a lot.

This fixed the symptoms described (ABS, Brake light, door locks, temporary loss of power when going over a bump) on my 2003 suburban 1500. Thanks for the video, I suspected G103, but was having all kinds of trouble locating it. The ground wire popped off as soon as I pulled on it. That wire is supposed to connect to a stud on the back of the engine, but the stud is difficult to access, and using the body ground instead as you show was a great suggestion that got me back on the road quickly.

My 04 Silverado 4.8 --- 135k miles. Has never been in the rust belt... I have had it 14 years.
I started having the same symptons yesterday.. Day before all was well.. When I got out of the truck the door locks cycled to lock position. Never happened before. When I came back it started fine but I noted tha A/C was not as cold AND the battery gauge in the cluster would drop all the way to the left then go back to center.
Looked around this morning and found this video. Started reading comments and checked my braided ground strap @4:08. It looked like it had a small bit of corrosion on it. Took off the 10mm nut and used an old copper bore brush to clean cable connector and firewall bolt. It was not loose and there were no "green crustys" Put it back together and took around the block. Everything is working as it should... A bit scary that is was that easy..
Thank you for the video and all the comments that made it go well As Matt would say check your GROUNDS... I now wish I had checked the resistance from the braided cable to the end of the fire wall bolt.. might have told me that I was on the right track...note to self....

In GM speak, that’s your G103 ground. It is the only ground wire for your ECM. (All Underhood grounds are 100 series) You’re lucky it broke off. If you were going to remove the 13mm bolt to clean, the only way to do it properly is to remove the intake manifold. The ground must connect to the engine block but you’re achieving that by mating it to the braided G107 strap.

QUick question PLZ... On that hood-to-body ground that breaks. (not the subject of this video).... How important is it.??? At first I was just thinking why the hell would someone need to ground the hood??!? But I am starting to wonder if it does not serve as some sort of "Bridge" across front quarters to even out vehicle electrical system ground RESISTANCE and now wonder if its critical to any negative switch feedback readings.??

From my understanding the ground going from firewall stud to hood serves as an antennae type of ground. It evens out and spreads the grounding of certain components as to eliminate frequency. Perhaps if you've ever heard the buzzing from the small round grate above drivers head in 99-06 tahoe/yukon etc also cleans up radio signal and also helps with the passlock and other crucial communication circuits to avoid feedback. My guess from the spark plug wires voltage resistance maybe alternator whine, etc. This is just my understanding

For further clarity, this ground wire goes into your instrument cluster (A8). I actually just grounded mine to the steel "cage" inside the dash and that works just fine for me. But I also had a bad A9 connection, which is a constant battery positive. So I ran another wire straight to the red box in the engine compartment and spliced that into A9 and my gauges work again. Hope this helps others. I discovered there was an issue by checking voltage between A8 and A9. I also did a continuity test between A8 and ground and that's how I found _that_ issue.

JC R old turd didn’t do shit! And he was scared to switch the LED’s to white! He said all the guages worked again 😂 I plugged it in and it looked the same, no wonder he didn’t charge me anything... I think it has to do with the actual BCM I think it’s called? It’s under the steering wheel and it’s kind of like a mini brain for the truck. My speedometer works plus I have an aftermarket “Digital” speedometer which calculates the miles amd that’s what I care about the most cause then I keep track of my gas 😉 I messed with some soddering and fixed a few more LED’s but that’s all. Go on Instagram and look up “gmguagerepair” or google someone local to you

Only GM can persist making the same mistakes decade after decade and stay in business. I had a '76 Chevy van and was driving down a road past a K mart around 1984. The engine quit and would not restart. I kid you not, the mechanic at the K Mart yells out from across the street that he knows what's wrong and comes running over with a length of wire. Tells me the ground failed and in 1 minute had it fixed. Surreal experience. Now I have a GMC Pickup truck with a ground problem that makes all the gauges flatline. Where is that kid with his hunk of wire? Guess I have to do it myself this time. :)

The fscm sends signal to the bcm and all other modules. Due to its location under the bed of the truck it is prone to corrosion. It's a simple check. Unplug it and clean with contact cleaner if a simple pin out is too much to do. Let it dry and reconnect. Worst case scenario you still have an issue. Or do nothing that's fine as well.

Headlights go on and off randomly, cluster flickers, ABS light, o2 heater core codes, multiple corroded ground cables, check engine light goes on every time and prevents passing inspection until I find and repair the problems. I do like the vehicles, but its maddening to find these electrical issue solutions.
