Agreed. Gen 4 was when everything fell together and was pretty much perfect, in my opinion. Everything made sense and nothing was too complicated.

Yeah, Tho D/P was slow, Platinum was a MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT to D/P, becoming the best game at that time also because of Distortion World. Then HG/SS stepped in and BAM! Great music, greatest post-game, POKeMON FOLLOW YOU and What Not!
Hands down, Gen 4 is the greatest Gen.
Edit: Opinions change over time, and I think Gen 5 is as good, if not better than Gen 4.

Pokemon HG/SS is the best remake of the Saga for me. Best abientation, The music is beautiful, the history was good and the interaction with the pokemons... SO GOOD! 9.8/10

When I first play pokemon sapphire at the age of 9 my pokemon were infected by pokerus. At that time I didnt even know that it was a good thing and restart the whole game because I thought it was a bad disease or something. But now I realize pokerus can make pokemons stronger. Feelsbadman.

Ho-Oh: On top of a giant tower built to worship it.
Lugia: In a dark cave surrounded by whirlpools.
Suicune: Running from you until you finally corner it / In the tower where it died and became the beast it is today (if you faint it)
Raikou/Entei: Running around Johto unpredictably.
Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza: In a mysterious tower
Latios/Latias: Flying around Kanto unpredictably
Latias/Latios (the one you didnt catch as roaming): Appears in response to the soul dew to challenge you.
Mewtwo: Hiding away in Cerulean cave waiting for a strong opponent.
Moltres: Hiding in Mt. Silver, surrounded by powerful wild pokemon.
Articuno: In a frosty, hard to navigate island far out in the sea
Zapdos: Chilling next to the power plant like ‘what’s good bro’

Arceus: *tradable*

Yeah I don't know what was up with that
i mean, technically you're suppressing their power by using a poke ball to catch them. i remember cyrus talking about how dialga and palkia would have their powers weakened when caught with master balls, which is why he made the red chain. i suppose this could be a possible explanation to why their sprites become smaller. or, you know, having oversized sprites might mess up the game and stuff
Ho-Oh's and Lugia's battle themes are still two of my favorite legendary battle themes in the entire Pokémon series.
Where can I find the item ti ho up the tower for Ho-Oh?
gamefreak put more effort in these games than in todays games. they implemented special events like the darkrai event that contains a small story
actually the original canavale city darkrai event was never put pubicly in the eu. only in the japanese versions and that from the US which we in EU had no acces to unless u had a action replay or u hacked.. pokemon rangers u could transfer him to daimond and pearl. the other where mystery gifts to get darkrai. which is sad tbh. but this is what happened

I remember waiting several weeks to get this game. I had to have the game delivered all the way across the world, to Australia, because for some reason, none of the shops were selling it. Getting this game in the mail was the most exciting thing ever.

no doubt one of the best pokemon games of all time, no bias. the amount of effort put into this game was unbelievable. music remixes for different legendaries, legendaries with back stories, it was unreal. i really appreciate how they made individual sprites for each legendary pokemon, it made each of them special. ultra sun/moon and oras just dumped all of them into wormholes and shit, didnt really feel special at all

When I saw the arceus event for the first time in SoulSilver, my jaw was on the floor.
(It was my first time playing soulsilver (yes, in 2023!) and I was shocked)
If you could catch other legendary Pokemon in HG/SS, where would they be located?
Regirock: deep inside either Mt. Mortar or Rock Tunnel.
Regice: a hidden room in the Ice Path/Cave.
Registeel: Victory road.
Regigigas: must have all three. A hidden island in the kanto region near the seafoam islands.
Heatran: the volcano on cinnabar island. A backstory that it was responsible for the eruption. Have the inside similar to Terra Cave in Emerald.
Cresselia: Mt. Moon on Monday nights, when the Clefairy gather for their dance.
Wait is cresselia gen 5 or gen 4

Cresselia is gen 4. It is Darkrai's rival to signify the full moon and the new moon.

The Sinjoh Ruins theme is good, but the christmas remix of it is even better.
With flash, go for lugia looks pretty easy but on my first time that i didnt know anything about that game I practically spent an hour searching lugia
I wish our Pokemon will finally follow us in Sword/Shield... Or at least in the Gen 4 remakes. Everyone really loved this feature, adding more interactions and most importantly, showing more how much we care about our Pokémons (might sound a bit cringy but who cares ?).
This game has so much content I love it.

The way i understand the lore is that arceus created the entire universe in pokemon. therefore it is the true omnipotent god of every living species in existence. This was the second Pokémon game I’d ever owned, I had platinum but I could never beat it as a kid because of how difficult it was but this game is a masterpiece and so damn nostalgic

I'd like to add a few caveats:
For Rayquaza, both Kyogre and Groudon must have been caught in Embedded Tower, with one traded from the other game (HG/SS). A Kyogre/Groudon that has been imported from RSE, or that has been otherwise cheated in/forced to spawn anywhere else, will not work, and will not activate the Jade Orb conversation.
The Arceus that activates the Dialga/Palkia/Giratina creation event must be either received directly from a Pokemon Event and given to you by the man in the Poke Mart, *or* caught in D/P/Pt in the Hall of Origin through the Azure Flute (which was never released outside of Japan and so must be cheated in). An Arceus that has been cheated in through any other method will not activate the event. Also, the Arceus event can only be activated once per game - having an event Arceus activate the event, and then coming back with a Hall of Origin Arceus will not allow the event to activate. Also, whichever of the Creation Trio you choose will spawn with its respective Orb held. This is the only way to get a Griseous Orb in HGSS, as they cannot be traded.
About the Arceus, can you only choose wisely with which legendary you want? Either Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina? Cannot get all three?

Adrian Maldonado Yes, transferring one to the other game is the only thing that will work. It is impossible to get Rayquaza without trading.
I always used mean look to make sure that raikou and Entei stick around long enough so I could catch them. Good Times...
