I will never, ever forget the feeling of realising Kanto was fully available in GSC. Obviously you fight the league at Indigo Plateau but you couldn’t check the full map until you arrive in Vermilion City for the first time, and when I heard that music, oomph. Favourite game for life.
In SWSH's case, sure I would consider that paid post-game. But for SV, the DLC straight up is part 2 to the story AND then postgame. I wouldn't defend SWSH's dlc, even though I enjoyed it, but SV is much better. And our situation is much better than how we used to have it. USUM for example is technically the postgame to SM, we just had to pay full game price for it. Same thing with HGSS and Platinum adding proper post game to their respective regions. Having DLC means they can extend the lifespan of the games and add things they might've not had time for otherwise. Gamefreak are being very rushed, and making DLC is just the better solution to making the most out of the games. It just depends on how you look at the situation to really understand it.
The dwindling amount of post game content is a separate issue, the DLC is meant to replace the Third Game each series had (besides X&Y) which was just the original with a few upgrades and mildly different story sold at full price. I much prefer the DLC approach which is almost half price by comparison and doesn't make you replay 90% of the same stuff for 10% new things, as well because the update adding everything is made to the base game and buying the DLC just unlocks the direct access you can still gain any of the New Pokemon or Items by simply trading for them so if you don't care about story you don't even have to buy the DLC for the additions (an inverse example of this was Gen 4 Rotom which only had it's Ghost Mode in Diamond and Pearl meaning you Had to buy Platinum if you wanted to be able to even see it's additional forms in it's debut generation).

This is why HeartGold/SoulSilver is ELITE! 2 Different regions in 1 game.. you love to see it. I am currently nuzlocking Storm Silver and can't wait to go into Kanto and beat the game in its entirety!
Realistically if they were to remake Johto again in modern hardware they would likely remove Kanto from the post game due to time constraints and the games being made in 3D. I still feel Emerald had the best postgame content. Between the Battle Frontier and Contests, there was so much to do after becoming champion. I put 500 hours into Emerald as a kid.
Honestly, having another region as a postgame only works for Gen 2 specifically because all they had to add was Kanto. The moment they would try that idea in Gen 3 and beyond then you would have to add not just Kanto but Johto, Hoenn and all other regions missing, otherwise fans would just be asking why one region is there but not another. At some point then the idea would lose it's novelty or it would have the developers run into a corner with how much they would have to add and if it ever would be enough. That's why Kanto in Gen 2 feels special because it's the only one and they can focus all their effort in one. I think the best type of postgame would be a combination of FR/LG, Platinum and BW2 where there are Sevii Islands type seperate locations you can travel to in any order for some sidequests or added legendary events plus fight like some boss trainers there for challenge. Next to those is a Battle Frontier AND a PWT where you can battle/meet the protagonists and champions of other regions for the nostalgia fanservice.

It is actually still possible to access the mystery gift events. Look it up, there's a server running and you have to do some stuff manually with your wifi and DNS. Currently getting event pokemon on Gen 5
The post game is amazing but holy shit is level grinding in this game awful at times, especially post game. Only real spot to train is M.T Silver and Victory Road.
Just thought, is there supposed to be 2 of each Legendary bird? Because HG/SS takes place 3 years after FR/LG, wherein canonically the protagonist catches all 150 original Pokemon, including the birds, how then can the protagonist from the sequels catch the same bird?

my issue with the post game in the gold/silver games is that having there be so much "post game" that you end up "completing" the main story at like the mid 40's in terms of level. If you ask me, these games dont HAVE any post game. I don't consider these games done until i've beat red

@@TerraQuake1you can get the gen 4 game events of past by messing around with the systems internet settings i was able to do every single event from gen 4 last year doing this on a unmodded 3ds and original cartridge i think its worth looking into next time you want to do a playthrough of gen 4 because it adds so much more cool stuff to the games
Sounds cool, I’ll be sure to take a look!
For the 25th anniversary of the original Gold and Silver we got... a generation six game.. great..
Correction Kieran is the strongest in all of pokemon after indigo disk
There is one event in the post game that you could've done and it involves A whole lotta Cynthia
Actually, it’s the TM for Charge Beam in the Power Plant in Kanto.
8:08 idk, maybe get rid of Magneton, since you can't even evolve it in HGSS, replace it with a legendary, and evolve Growlithe and Weepinbell.
You can get evolution stones as soon as Goldenrod in HGSS.
The arceus event was peak man. I hunted a shiny one in platinum just to see it in all its glory
I’ve always wanted to replace HGSS but I can’t bring myself to restart. I have a spiky-eared Pichu and nowhere to transfer it to, and I can’t bear the thought of deleting her.
can transfer her to a rom of HGSS on PC
Just buy another copy
If you play this video at 1.25x speed. He sounds normal
gen 4 and 5 produced the best games in the franchise. i wish we got a game that was all the regions from gen1-5 combined with gen 5 graphics. would be PERFECT
Wow, I’m 100% gonna replay it now that I know that I missed all that gen 3 content 😮
It is sort of easy to miss, but it’s really fun to do!
I did the raquaza event as a kid. It was sick.
You can actually beat red with a team in the late 50s and early 60s if you use pseudos' and tanks like snorlax, but its extremely hard.
Dont forget you can go back to the dragons den the fight Lance and Clair with Silver
6:44 that’s my only beef with this game
In regular GSC when you do a mystery gift Cal will change to them
Soul silver and heart gold were the best remakes of all time. Literally perfect
Crystal version was the first to have kanto postgame, really changed everything
I don’t even see it as a post game anymore
You missed the double battle against Lance and Claire with Silver
HGSS has so much Postgame Content, that the Pokeleague is actually in the Midgame.
best post games in my opinion
1. BW2
2. HGSS
3. Platinum
4. Emerald
5. XY(underrated, a lot people dont know about the looker events)
This is spot on. Wow.
But yes, PWT is peak Pokemon. Then of course a whole second region is unheard of. Truly epic
This game and Pokémon platinum was my favorite game wish they can re make these 😢
I never got to beat the elite 4 in soulsilver when I was little. If my ds screen wasn’t messed up I’d finally try to win and do the postgame of soulsilver like I should’ve.
My DS is also messed up nowadays 😢
Haha I am done with national dex!!! 780 hours of playing finally!!! All 493 caught!!!
The greatest endgame is either HG/SS, FR/LG, or Emerald.
I’d love to see a game with all regions
BW2 has the best post-game Imo
i don't really know if these count as "post game" per se but perhaps there's also the celebi event in ilex forest, the spiky earred pichu event also in ilex forest, sinjoh ruins, and the event with steven by the pewter museum to catch the other hoenn lati pokemon that was exclusive to the other game
Unfortunately, I didn’t have any way to access those limited time events
It is actually still possible to access the mystery gift events. Look it up, there's a server running and you have to do some stuff manually with your wifi and DNS. Currently getting event pokemon on Gen 5
How did I never know you can change rotoms form in that building
Currently playing heart gold and im excited to get to the post game
I want a game were we go to all the regions even the colosseum one but it seems like a far cry from heaven
The post game is amazing but holy shit is level grinding in this game awful at times, especially post game. Only real spot to train is M.T Silver and Victory Road.
I agree, I never liked how low of a level the Kanto Pokemon were. However, I’ve found that rematching trainers is a good way to grind as well
Just thought, is there supposed to be 2 of each Legendary bird? Because HG/SS takes place 3 years after FR/LG, wherein canonically the protagonist catches all 150 original Pokemon, including the birds, how then can the protagonist from the sequels catch the same bird?
Each pokemon game is a different universe
@@valentino-yv4vw But Red exists in HG/SS? Unless you’re saying the Red in HG/SS is not as good as the Red in FR/LG?
Red could have released them after catching
You forgot to tell us the part where you rematch the elite 4 and they will use their real team
I could have sworn you could get platinum legends as well
I wish they’d just put the old ones on switch. I’d pay $60 for this with online functionality in a heartbeat.
battle frontier was so much fun
i love this post game, and while it is definitely superior compared to anything else in the pokemon series, i cant choose which postgame is my favorite because i love the postgames of all the first 7 pokemon generations that have one, i also havent played HG/SS yet either ive only played Gold and Silver😅 still needa play the remakes cuz i hear they the best in the series occasionally
Red as the final boss is goated!
Best final boss imo!
It’s just Gen 1 again 🗿
Really love this games. It`s crazy how much story there is to play after the normal game! Great Video, too! How do you record your gameplay?
Thanks for the support! I use OBS Studio to record 👍
@@TerraQuake1 thank you for the entertainment!
you also can rematch the gym leaders at the saffron city fighting dojo
my issue with the post game in the gold/silver games is that having there be so much "post game" that you end up "completing" the main story at like the mid 40's in terms of level. If you ask me, these games dont HAVE any post game. I don't consider these games done until i've beat red
I can see that, the leveling in the Johto games is weird
Well Someone thoughts are same as me because I always thinks that weepinbell Really looks like a Jinglebell 😂
hgss’s postgame hard carries gen 2 tbh
Definitely adds a lot, but the main storyline is still good in my opinion 👍
If we're honest, the true best post game is actually Mystery Dungeon, explorers of Sky, followed by Pokemon Conquest. But love HG/SS post game as well
Ya I would love to try some of the Mystery Dungeon and other spin-off post games at some point!
Mystery dungeon main game was the best, but the post game didn't have enough content compared to these games
I really wish we could battle all the elite four members and gym leaders from the other games with their music. Like that would be EPIC!😩😍
HeartGold and SoulSilver achieved the impossible: making Jhoto games even better.
Also 7:04 "Art-ooo-no" 😂
They did the unthinkable 🤯 Also that might’ve been a mic glitch 😂
