Yeah, I think HG and SS was the best remake to date. It's like the gift that keeps on giving. Even after a decade since I played it, there's still so much I don't know about and I lover it

These games are amazing and chock full of little secrets like this. Being able to experience all of it definitely solidifies these as the best mainline games, imo
Spikey Eared Pichu is from the past. It played a big role in the movie Arceus and the Jewel of Life, which has Ash and co. travel thousands of years back in time.
spikey eared pichu is the first Paradox version of a pokemon.

Just look at the looks of Paradox Pokemon it's the entire creature that's different not just a single feature like it's ear
One little nugget of info I found on my own playing these games years ago is that if you headbutt the first tree on the left immediately outside of pewter city, you have a rare chance of getting starly. This only works on this specific tree, and thought it was a cool bit of info since starly to this day is my favourite intro bird pokemon of all time
And that's why those are not only the best remakes, but the best pokemon games ever made.

The first one with Shiny legendary Beasts of Johto
Sending them to Black and White for the Zoroark event is a direct reference to the Movie of which a Zoroark is forced to use her illusions to fake being the beasts

I remember finding Lugia in Heartgold and then later getting int an argument with some kid who insisted it was impossible to find Lugia in HG so I must have traded it from SS.
The gift trio of Mareep, Slugma and Wooper...the only thing your trainer ID actually affects as far as they are concerned is the specific phrase needed to obtain them. Google can guide users to a website that can provide the answers to obtain all 3 in any playthrough regardless of their trainer ID
With the Cianwood softlock avoiding Tentacruel, I'm fairly sure it can be shiny hunted if you so wished to do so.
Yes most pokemon can be shiny hunted in this game including primos eggs and even mr Pokémon's egg

Same here too 😁. I don't go through the storyline again, I just wander about, participate in bug catching contests, see the clefairy dance, travel on SS Aqua and other such trivial stuff 😁

After an exhausting month in preparation for my exam, I decided to reward and indulge myself by, again, playing Pokémon HG. I deleted my old savefile and started a new adventure. Ahh it was euphoric. Finally got time to relax and relive my childhood game. I have the three starters on my team. And my Chikorita got one of those shiny leaf. I have been playing for God knows how many amount of hours of this game and it's a first time experience for me.
Bruh. Lol. In college I made the mistake of buying leaf green when it came out in the middle of the semester. Not the best idea. Lmao

I loved Silver as a kid but never got a DS and regretted it since SS and HG are so rare now… luckily I was at a local game shop yesterday and found it so looking forward to finally getting to play!
Such a legendary Pokemon game. So much info I didnt even know like the trainer card colors and the shiny leaves. 10/10 game with a great past. Wish some of the events stayed like Latios/Latias and Celebi.
You can still get them. Just change some wifi settings and use your smartphone as a hot spot.

@@at5598 someone archived the mystery events in gen 4 pokemon games on a dns server (167.086.108.126) So you can receive them all technically legit by changing your dns server and connecting to an open wifi connection on your ds (:

Hun you can play these events still, I used drastic and pokegen to do them. You can do it in PC too, just search how to do it on the internet

I had the event jirachi and i sold that copy cause i got “to old for pokemon” wish I kept all my old games i even had the spiky eared pichu really disappointed in myself 💀
my biggest mistake was having celebi from the wifi event as a kid and not knowing that was the only time / way to get it and later down the line deleting the save because i wanted to start over 😭
I have ALWAYS questioned WHY they never include more than one save in pokemon games... I ALWAYS have had the habit of wanting to start over. . . I always found myself just losing everything I ever obtained. . . . funny thing is, for some strange reason, this habit kinda stopped at the gen 6(X & Y)games. I actually started to care about everything I earned then. I kinda did restart over again... but that wasn't until I had moved up to the gen 7 games and had everything transferred up.
Don't know what EXACTLY it was about this gen... but my behavior with pokemon games just changed here.
You can still get it back by connecting to an hotspot without a wi fi.
It's a bit more complex, but there are at least two tutorials on how to do it.
Also, it works on any game from the 4th and 5th gen.
@@s.c.2180 if you're mentioning what I think you're mentioning... it should be advised that it's a LOT harder to obtain those events for the gen 4 games. can't really remember... but I think you need a SPECIFIC router to get it to work in this day and age(a REALLY old router)... but the method DOES work A LOT MORE EASILY for the gen 5 games! all I had to do was input a code in my dns(or something like that, CANT remember)on my 2ds(yep, DOESN'T even have to be on the original ds to get this to work), in the field on my 2ds's internet settings, and I was able to receive mystery gifts(ALL of them)in my white version, EASY!
@@s.c.2180 Also.. you DO need wifi for this... don't even know what the heck your going on about. not unless your talking about some OTHER new method I wasn't aware of?
Edit: On second thought... NOT very positive on the needing wifi part. . . for one, its been a while since I even last did this so my memory is kinda hazy. its possible that maybe you don't actually need wifi, just that you NEEDED to be plugged into a router to get this to work.
In case I was wrong... sorry, its just I was under the impression that you NEEDED the wifi probably when I last did this. my adhd brain possibly missed that one part in the instructions and I just ended up getting all of that confused in my now grainy memory as a result, lol.
@@TheDeepThinker-sq3iy you can connect through your phone hotspot, what is needed is to just remove the password and a special dns wich you can just input when writing the info of the hotspot.

Why has it taken me years to realise _Event Pokemon we're Free DLC?_
I’ve always felt that the events in these games Gen. 3/4/5 have them all coded into the game and should have just let us be able to obtain these items, and reach these areas to catch these Pokémon. No matter how many times you start a new game and erase your old save we should be able to access the content that is already there. Gen 3 and 4 I would use GameShark and then action replay dsi to be able to play the content every time I would start a new play through.
I do wish that the Manaphy egg could have been obtained in game by completing a really hard quest or something instead of needing another side game that will only give you 1 copy per game so, now if you buy it there is a very good chance that you can’t do the event.
The sad truth is that these games are the best because they were considered the last pokemon games so they put more effort than usual. It is sad because this wont happen again.
2:27 well… it sure was awkward learning that GameStop had only received a VERY small number of the pre order statues when I went with my mom to get my copy of HeartGold
So I had all 3 of the distribution shiny dogs still on my SoulSilver game. I ended up not really staying into Pokémon and so they’ve stayed there since! I still play my SoulSilver from time to time and Entei is still on my team!

I bought a Soul Silver a few years ago from a store that sells old games. The game had a Spiky eared Picku, the Event Celebi and the Event Shiny Pichu. I transfered them to my Platinum and restarted it and brought them back in. i was able to get another spiky eared pichu with the shiny pichu.
U can’t transfer spiky eared pichu to any game… ur a liar
@@pollythadon4176 I’m not lying. I did get another spikey eared pichu with the shiny one but you’re right I only have the one spikey eared pichu now. I didnt seperate and explain which ones I had transferred and my memory was foggy since it happened a few years ago. But I’m not lying about finding all those in the original save file. And getting spikey eared pichu again.
So… that Jasmine trade, i knew about it but for some stupid reason i always traded away my Sudowoodo to her when i really shouldn’t have.

You can still get it back by connecting to an hotspot without a password and a specific dns.
It's a bit more complex, but there are at least two tutorials on youtbe on how to do it.
Also, it works on any game from the 4th and 5th gen.

Bro, I grew up with Heartgold but I never knew any of this. Tell me there's still a way to get all the event Pokemon and trigger certain ones.
There is , search up a couple videos ( use more recent videos ) at the very least you need a android phone with hotspot and the videos will show you how to configure the wifi settings

Currently replaying HG and came across this video. Love your content btw. Just wanted to point out that the gift eggs in violet city can be obtained before togepi and all three can be obtained. Slugma is great to get to hatch togepi faster because it has flame body.

FYI to anyone wanting all these event pokemon. You can still get them legitimately!!! there are plenty of wwmmfi tutorials on youtube of how to get all the gen 4 pokemon LEGIT over a decade after!!
10:36 this is not true. I obtained it back in the day: You needed to play the wifi mode of the battle tower and rank up, however the wifi support of the nds was discontinued in 2014, so now is impossible without hacking, or connecting to a pirate server.
Man, i really wish one day they have all these exclusive pokemon available again
You can still get today the shiny trio beast in those red pokeballs (cherrih ball) from mystery gift :)
Half were unavailable events and 1/4 were stuff you find just by playing
You might not know it, but you can get a Steelix before the elite four in Soulsilver, and without trading Jasmine, or anyone. Once the safari zone opens up, on the first floor of the cave that is on the way to the safari zone there is a 1% chance to encounter a wild Steelix. It was my first encounter with a wild pokemon there and if it weren't I probably never wouldve believed it! I named it Jaws >:)
My man, you can still do these events. Search for the HGSS DNS code and there are videos on how to legally get these Pokémon and end events still.

It is possible to experience 4th and 5th gen events. Someone made a DNS server that saved them and you can experience them today. Professor Chime has a tutorial on how to do it.

Went back to it after years, don’t have a DS anymore so decided to Rom it on my laptop, still just as awesome as I remember though. Now I need to just figure out how to transfer Pokémon from soul Silver and heart hold on my laptop so I can get some of the specials
If you go and talk to Monica of Monday or any of her siblings while having a Pokèmon having a Ribbon (obtained in Sunnyshore) corresponding to that particular day and placing that Pokèmon first in you party, they will say something different,instead of giving you the item they're actually supposed to give you.
the pichu name is Pichu Spunzorek which also appeared in arceus movie

It really sucks how much content is just straight up not available anymore.
Like i think a good way to preserve these events could've been to have a feature similar to ORAS where if you passed someone who had the Eon ticket you got it too. Or set up a service where you can send your game card into Game Freak and they put a patch on it that allows you to access the events but makes it so (similar to Pichu) you can't trade it...unless it connects to a game like Black and White. So if you want to replay the event you have have to replay the game.
I don't know, maybe i'm just chatting out of my ass, it just sucks that so much content is effectively lost unless you cheat.

I had the pichu before I got rid of my original copy of soul silver. I ended up buying it again from a friend in 2016 and it came with the original box and case.
The world ability ribbon is still attainable by reaching rank 5 at the Wi-Fi Battle Room. Granted the Nintendo Wi-Fi servers has long been shut down, but there are still existing fan servers that are hosted that can be looked up to connect to that simulate the battle rooms if you look that up or connect with the ribbon master community.
I'm not sure how your image says "Sinnoh Wi-Fi Battle Tower" though. I assume it was transferred to Sinnoh after getting it from HGSS.
Thanks to the Global trade DNS glitch i managed to do all these events and somehow manage to still have a few of them like the shiny beast trio and a LV1 Dialga

What I did is constantly re battle the gym leaders + elite four. Now I know getting the gym leaders phone numbers can be a little annoying but it was worth it for me back in the past.

"secrets" yet I already knew all of these and did most of the things (excluding wofi events for i didnt play pokemon in general until 2012).
I still play heartgold to this day and as I'm typing this, I reach 200 hours in my HeartGold!! :D and now have a level 100 typhlosion and ampharos!!
ik thats not a big accomplishment but this is my 3rd HG game file, for the other 2 and all its progress was lost in a house fire. so yeah im happy w what I got now
