The next year anniversary of the original super mario bros is in 2 days from now damn😭. Also i joined your discord server recently, i hope it’l continue to grow as well as this channel :)
For the love of god, just press A + Start on the main screen to continue in Super Mario Bros. How do people today NOT know this? You'll have to start back at the first level of the world you were on but it is better than starting completely over.
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins is in my opinion the most underrated Mario game of all time by far (it's also my 3rd favorite 2d Mario game); the first one was fine, but the second one really show what the Game Boy could offer to us; the history is great, since Mario isn't saving a princess or any other person, he is doing it for himself; Mario Land was incredible and it's a shame that we never get another 2d Mario like that; from the enemies, the continuity to the first game, the phases, the bosses, Tatanga returning, the hard final level and of course Wario! The only bad thing about this game is the difficilty; otherwise this is one of the best Game Boy games of all time and Mario games overall; Nintendo pls stop ignoring this game! "You're a wandered far from home..."
I would argue Mario 2 wasn't just a dream. They were in SubCon the dream realm. It was only "just a dream" in the way being attacked by Freddy Kruger is just a dream.
I think Mario Bros. Wonder is a game that will grow as the years go by, and more people will learn to appreciate it for what it is, despite its flaws. The same went for Odyssey.
It's the Kirby: Return to Dreamland of 2D Mario games. An new & refreshed take that starts out great, but eventually gets better when the followed up makes QOL improvements & an new mechanic that can make the game better than the previous one.
I would like to have New Super Mario.2 and Super Mario 3D Land to be on Nintendo Switch games just like they did for Super Mario 3D Worlds because no one are playing Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS anymore now that they're moving onto Nintendo Switch.
21:03 “and to honest sometimes I would just throw my friends off a cliff if they were in my way or sometimes just for fun” that sounds horrible out of context 😭
Heya, Mario. You know how you rescued me last time? Yessa. And you know that my castle took a little bit of damage in the process. Yeah. So many paintings and good silverware were lost and rooms were in disarray. So I asked my underlings to take it down entirely. Oh mama mia. Could you be a dear and build me a new castle, including the works; carpets, paintings of me and my father, a tennis court, beds, tables, a kitchen, etc. But I'mma only a plumber. Oh, please. Don't even. I know you've been hoarding 1 million coins.
The saying “Limitations breed creativity” comes to mind most when thinking of the early Mario Bros, Mario/WarioLand games, Metroid, & Donkey Kong Country games. (MarioWorld, Mario RPG, Super Peach, Warioland Shake It & 3D Land also being among if not the best) Its a shame to see the Mario series so often stuck on the same things (Bowser, etc) when the series has so often been at its best when its taking wild risks. (SML2!!!!🔥🏆❤️) The creativity streak between SMB1 and Super Mario 64 is insane and I wonder if maybe Nintendo/stakeholders have gotten a little too precious/safe/scared with what the series can do. Mario & Peach save Daisy from Wario & Waluigi!!!! Come on with it, fans would lose their minds lol
in my opinion the definitive version for Mario 3 is the gba version not only does it have extra content with the inclusion of the e-reader levels, but they also included a new starting cutscene, improved the game physics a bit to be more in line with super mario world and you can save at anytime while on the map. also it has a diferent ending cutscene if you clear every level on every map(100% the main game)
That's not really true that you're destroying people by hitting brick blocks you're actually helping to free the toad people and the power ups are gifts from them. The main reason Bowser. The King of the Koopa turtle tribe is because her magic has the power to reverse the spell and he wanted to prevent that. Dude's a man with a plan even if he is an evil fire breathing dragon turtle King of his tribe.
Here's how I would rank the 2D Mario platformers from most favorite to least favorite; -Super Mario Bros. All Stars -Super Mario Bros. 3 (Especially the All Stars version) -Super Mario Bros. Wonder -Super Mario World -Super Mario Land 1 -Super Mario Bros. 1 -New Super Mario Bros. U -Super Luigi U -New Super Mario Bros. Wii -Super Mario Bros. 2 -Super Mario Land 2 -New Super Mario Bros. 2 -New Super Mario Bros. DS -Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels
Although we will probably get more main series 2D Mario games due to the success of Mario bros wonder, I don't think Mario maker is dead, it is super popular especially because it has a great community and it is easy money for Nintendo because almost all assets used from old Mario games. Side note: Mario Maker 3 will probably have a Mario Wonder style, so the levels will only get better and more creative as the series goes on
i think super mario 2 was great. i don't understand the hate i see it get sometimes. it felt like a real adventure to me as a kid. the different bioms and character abilities. like picking toad so i could dig through sand faster or the princess so i could breeze through platforming. then the gambling and weird egg spitting barnies.. it was so different and so cool. i guess it was supposed to be a dream and it actually felt like it i thought it was creative and different which to fit in with snes games
You do realize old games don’t have the technology to allow saves due to space inside the cartridge? Rarely they’d have to use a password system if anything. And games were made hard because they cost $50 $60 in 80s money and it artificially inflated the length of the game without taking up the kb inside the game data
I understand why they did not have the feature, I just think that going back and playing it now it stinks that it does not have it :D And difficulty wise i get it too, the game design was made harder so it took longer for people to beat it. Which is not needed now becasue they can do more with less :D
@@StrawHatMidasMaking games harder is needed now more than ever as too many games today are literally dumbed down for the lowest common denominator. I'm sorry for your lack of skill but Super Mario Bros. 3 is not that hard of a game. It wouldn't make the cut in a top 50 hardest NES games, that's for sure. The problem with too many modern games is that they artificially extend the length of the game because they don't require any skill to speak of. I'm glad modern Mario games still require skill to play and aren't loaded with 90% filler to waste hundreds of hours of my time.
Like the 3D ones, there is no such thing as an bad 2D Mario game. With maybe the exception of Lost Levels. But each one of these games are very solid that has very low issues and the quality they put makes them stand out. If I have to pick the top 3 highest tier 2D Mario games, I would say Mario 3, World & Wonder. But no matter the case, there all great.
@@thommccarthy1139 More power to you if you like this sort of thing. But personally, Lost Level is awful. The level designs & difficultly are absolutely abysmal & unfair. It's not good design, filled with alot of BS moments & isn't fairly challenging whatsoever. If I want to play an harder Mario game that's fair, I'll take Luigi U over Lost Levels.
@@jaretco6423I don’t get what’s so ‘unfair’ about it-honestly, I wish the series had maintained this level of difficulty. It was made for players who truly mastered the first game and wanted that extra challenge. The pixel-perfect jumps and memorization give it that essential ‘gameplay density’ that makes it feel limitless. Like a shmup or an old arcade game, it’s designed to be learned, like a classical music piece. Once you’ve got it down, you play for time, for score, for no deaths, etc. The slippery Luigi mode just adds another layer of challenge. Modern gamers tend to believe ‘good’ design to mean you can beat a game after learning the basic mechanics by just reacting, without really learning or memorizing it. That often leads to games you play once and never ever come back to. That’s how I feel about Luigi U-it was a fun little joyride, but it didn’t pull me back in. It doesn't haunt me enough.. Something like Super Ghouls N Ghosts, Lost Levels, almost any shmup I will get infinite value out of because they always pose a strong challenge.
@thommccarthy1139 It's unfair because it's mostly trial & error. You can't see where you go, there are enemy placements that come out of nowhere sometimes, the precise jump is 50/50 and the way the level designs were handled was just obnoxious and even at points you don't know exactly where or how to get there like that one level where there are invisible blocks to reach the other side where the flagpole is, but you won't know it cause there's no notification about that. Also unless your not playing this on the All-Star version, no save features. So you can't go back to where you left off if you turn off the game. There's nothing challenge about them. It is completely evil.
I mean it says "For Super players" in the gold part of the ribbon… we are super players because we can enjoy it the way it was intended I have the Famicom Disk System OG, the Super Mario Collection and the Gameboy Advanced Famicom Mini reissue and the Famicom Disk System/Gameboy Advanced reissue are better because it's not as dumbed down… err made easier with saving and everything… updated graphics are nice though, but if you notice the tiles for the underground ground tiles are used in both "Super Mario Bros." and "Super Mario Bros. 2(Lost Levels)" in "Super Mario Collection/All-Stars"…
I can’t believe they’d stop updating Mario maker 2 this is an unrealistic idea but imagine they added new stuff regularly to the point we got the wonder style or even collabs and make it a Mario version of fortnite haha

As for Mario 3’s auto scrolling, I wouldn’t say it’s bad, just punishing. They give you something to do, and that makes them a lot better than NSMB2’s. And the stages in 3 are already some of the shortest in the series, so it’s not like I’m wading through dead air while they put a big boo behind me for show. Those pre internet release date gaps are craaaaazy.
Usually I’d agree about the whole “It’s all a dream” thing, but the world is called Subcon. I feel like we can see it coming
