If you can afford the car, you can afford the insurance, the tag, and the lousy gas mileage. My uncle used to say luxury cars weren't meant to be for everyone!
I work extra hard so I don't have to ride in regular cars, and I'm not even trying to impress anyone. It is a sense of accomplishment thing for me. I don't feel like I've accomplished anything if I have ride in a Camry or any other car that you see everywhere you look. Lexus, Audi, Mercedes, and BMW have a special feel to them that I love that regular cars will never have. I don't care if it is less reliable, I'm never going to be jealous of any Camry or Accord. I'm the same way about furniture and electronics. I'm still not impressed with the ct6. It has great features, but it isn't big enough and it looks just like the smaller Cadillacs from the front. If I sat in the back my head would touch the roof and my knees would probably touch the back of the front seat. This is a short guy car review that makes the car appear to be spacious.
Great overview. And special kudos for being the first auto-reviewer in a long time to get "head-up display" because that feature is there to let you keep your head up while looking at the gauges and not to give you a heads up as so many think.
Solid review. I also liked it when I test drove it. It's funny that a Cadillac with a V8 used to be so commonplace. Now it's rare, expensive and you pay gas guzzler tax.
You no longer NEED a v8, you can get the same power with turbos, and a dohc fi engine., and lightening the car with aluminum. Technology has changed the game
Thank you for this review. We were able to find one of these that a dealership executive used as a demo. Long story short, we we purchased the vehicle. It is incredible for all the reasons you state in the video. The ride quality, the steering, and the handling are incredible. This does not drive or handle like a big car. One of the things I like best is that you don't see a lot of these on the road. The S Class and the 7 Series in particular - nice cars - are common place. The exclusivity of this car being such low production - to me - is a selling point.
I still remember walking around a Cadillac dealership back in 1985, and there was a two tone silver and black Seville with a price tag of $28,000, now they have price tags of 75 to 100 grand.
Fantastic review! This is my dream car, I love the platinum with the Blackwing engine. I hope to have it someday! Thank you so much for bringing this video to us 😀
In 2016, I bought the Cadillac CT6 Plat and it cost me 98k. As of today, I only have 46,000 mileage on it. The only difference is that I don't have Super Cruise, 6 cylinders, and 405 hrp. I compared my 6 cylinders CT6 to the 8 cylinders CT6 and I save a lot more on gas.
My man, you got raked over the coals for 98K. I'm not saying its not a nice car because it 100% is, but for that or even less you could have gotten a really low mileage S550, Flying Spur or S63 Probably still with factory warranty for sure. That being said the maintenance would have been more of a hassle on the others then on a Cadillac, but you should have waited at least the second production year to get the Ct6. Crazy that you only put 48K miles on it though. That thing is probably a garage baby.
I have a '19 CT6 Luxury and while it doesn't have all the 'goodies' of the reviewed car, it does provide some of the mystique. The 3.6 liter is more than adequate and it is definitely a driver's car. AWD is inspiring and unobtrusive until needed; my mileage on the highway just nudges 30 mpg (so efficient as well).
I just finished watching the video and was very impressed. I have a 2018 ct6 with little over46 thousand miles and I really enjoy this machine. Too early to complain about any problems 😊

They probably will be pretty pricy even in 3 years or so! We are trying to find an XTS from 2017 to 2019 and have been unable to locate one under $26,000, most are $36,000 at a dealer fully loaded! The cheaper ones have the miles packed on them, have had 2 or 3 owners and are not pristine..a d don't have the sunroof/moonroof that should be on the Limited models! They should not be all black interiors either, in hot Calif!
The most underrated. Blackwing is a beast. Killed too soon and should've spawned luxury suv but I guessed it would've cannibalized the Escalade which is cheaper to produce
As of recent, we heard it may just be the CT6-V that's being discontinued, with this Blackwing-powered Platinum still going. We can't say for sure, though, so grab one while they're still available. LOL. Thanks for watching, freeman Geiger!
@@AutoAcademics Ahhh. Thanks for the update. I know there had been conflicting info. I would love to have seen an SIUV version. Now let's see if I mortgage some organs and my property 🤔🤔🤔....
The absolute best that Cadillac has created. This car is everything.!! The company seems to have done a 360 with the newer products, as I am not enamored with the loss of the CTS and ATS'S replacements of CT-5 and CT-4. The interiors of those cars is yet another failed design. It looks more like it would be better suited in a Chevrolet.
Why I like so much about Cadillacs is about the designing of the seats...most of the luxurious sedan have the iron rod visible in the seats..I hate that..but I love this!
i have a 2016 CT6 and I absoluelty love it. It is a wonderful ride with great tech features. I will take my caddy over and lex or mercedees any day!!!!
There are aftermarket engine power enhancements on the market for the 3.0TT. One gives 15% power and torque increase. Haven't tried one, because the factory power is enough and I don't want to take a chance on the software doing something wrong.
Hey Chris. This is a sweet Caddy for sure. I am curious as to whether this car is still in production. I say that due to the rumors that this car would not survive past the 2020 model year. I certainly how GM keeps the 4.2TT Blackwing.
Glad you like the CT6 but my ownership experience with three of these things has been awful. If you like driving a variety of loaners, when these things are in for repair, it's for you. Design, engineering and build quality issues have plagued this very attractive sedan since 2016. The 19's and 20's have the functional transmission, but the rest of the vehicle is identical to the 16-18's and not all that remarkable compared to other GM cars. Interior trim, wood, vinyl and simulated leather does not compare to other luxury cars. My new 2019 will be my last when the warranty expires. I was a Cadillac brand loyalist until I got stuck with the CT6's.
Thanks for giving us a look at the Caddy CT-6. You mentioned the brand being perceived as far gone to some extent: can you go into any depth about why GM hasn’t done more to alleviate that? Have they lost some focus in the last decade or so? And why you think that is.
As an owner of Caddys that cost as high as $70,000, my cars were in the shop 24 tines in 3 years! The famous line from my dealer was "What do you expect for $70,000?" All these cars are JUNK. The CT6 at $98,000 at least has a spare tire. No, I never got a spare in my different Caddys. Oh, my neighbor had a new Escalade. His vehicle was in the shop 52 (52 is not a mistake here) times!
if you hate them so much why did you buy multiple? I've owned a few cadillacs and had nothing but good experience in driving and working on them when occasionally needed. If you went to a dealer, then that's probably why, but that's any dealer for any luxury car.

@@barbiekitty1 I agree 100% The reason you and I wouldn’t spend our money on something as ridiculous as a car is because we’re practical. I’m sure we both like nice things but this is excessive. I’d much rather buy a nice used car and put the rest of the money on a house or something that doesn’t deprecate as soon as you take ownership of it.
I love Cadillac but I really love this car. Not enough to pay 98k though. I’ll wait for 3 years and get lightly used one for around $40k before trade in.
It is definitely an impressive car, Torsee. And we can even excuse the fuel economy this time because the engine is sweet (even if it's tuned more toward luxury power, like a Maybach, than sporty power like AMG) and it is almost as if Cadillac is making a statement that they can make some excessive stuff when that's all that's important to someone. We'll see how things continue to progress for the brand. Only time will tell. Thanks for watching!
Oh I love my 2017 CT6 I heard that’s the last year they made it this big inside so my car is bigger than your car if you have anything after 2017. This is a beautiful car it is the same color as they show this car in 2020. Has all the bells and whistle’s incredible Car!
Lexus LS, BMW 7-series, Mercedes S-class, and Audi A8 would all be competing in the same class, Warren J. Goss, Jr. Difference is most of those, with the exception of the Lexus, would be "entry-level" while the Caddy is loaded. Which one is best depends upon personal preference, but it's nice to see Cadillac at least in the same conversation again. Thanks for watching!
AutoAcademics my point is the Caddy really does not compete with any of the heavyweights. GM is trying to punch above it’s weight. A BMW 5 series, Benz E class, or Audi A6 is it’s division. Yet it has heavyweight pricing. I was hoping Cadillac would truly compete with the heavyweights but the fit and finish is not anywhere near ready for prime time. Good review, try and score a RC F again or LC 500. Supra would be great ad well.
Warren J. Goss, Jr. What the hell are you talking about? Lol. A S-class, 7-series, or Lexus LS, Audi A8, etc. are all way above $98,000 fully loaded like this. Some start around that price tag as base models. For this to compete in the segment considering everything this vehicle offers, Cadillac is killing the “heavyweights” in value, driving characteristics, AND arguably styling.
We saw similar reports, s blake. Now we're seeing that it may be just the CT6-V that's discontinued. Who knows, since Cadillac sent this one to us for review. Thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics They are still making it in China, but the Hamtramck Plant where it was manufactured has closed. The last CT6 was made in the USA in January.
Everytime GM finally comes out with a cool v8 sedan it gets shit canned. i.e the SS, G8 6.2, CTS V wagon/coupe. Its our faults for following the new norm of crossovers/SUVs.
I will not complain about the gas mileage, I just need to feel comfortable when I am traveling long ways. High gas mileage is no good if I am uncomfortable.
Comfort is an area where this CT6 shines, aperxmim. In fact, it's an area where many Cadillacs shine, at the expense of good driving characteristics. Fortunately, the CT6 has both! Thanks for watching!
Just when Cadillac gets it right, it gets DISCONTINUED! Dang... Check out the CT4 & CT5... Cadillac needs a luxury coupe and convertible despite what their statisticians say. See you later.
Ha! Well at 205.8", the CT6 is a big car, aziz urrehman. Anything longer and you'd have a difficult time fitting it in a garage. We're just hoping that Cadillac can implement the CT6's great driving dynamics into some of it's smaller cars. Thanks for watching!
I can't even front I really like the exterior of the CT6 but my admiration for the vehicle stops there this Cadillac would have been an outstanding vehicle if GM or Cadillac didn't cheap out on the interior this thing has nothing on the S Class Mercedes maybe next lifetime Cadillac will build something that is a direct competitor to the s class but as far now.... Mercedes Benz S Class FTW
Cadillac might have cheaped out on the interior, and you most definitely cheaped out of any punctuation.* Sentences are separated with fullstops for a reason.*

I just can NOT get myself to even to wrap the IDEA of spending this kind of money on a CAR. I is going to drop in value as soon as it is drive. off the lot! AND it has been discontinued too! If I have that kind of money. I would not be spending it on a car, no matter how beautiful it is!
Great Job!!!! I have subscribed.
GM is discontinuing the CT6 after MY2020?
Those are the whispers we're hearing. Such a shame. Thanks for watching, Gregory Hammond!
Not gonna lie, this American beauty is way better than the German luxury, right now.🤷♂️
Not better. But measuring up
That's a Lie and a lie don't care who tells it.
Love your review.Very nice ride their baby.I would purchase this car used after 3 years with a good extended warranty.
I like it!
No lack of gadgets and electronics!
Twin turbo V8. 👍👍
17 mpg. 👎👎
Come on Cadillac, back seats like that but no auto door close?
It is definitely an impressive car, Torsee. And we can even excuse the fuel economy this time because the engine is sweet (even if it's tuned more toward luxury power, like a Maybach, than sporty power like AMG) and it is almost as if Cadillac is making a statement that they can make some excessive stuff when that's all that's important to someone. We'll see how things continue to progress for the brand. Only time will tell. Thanks for watching!
Great review. I really would like to see a follow up/competition with the new Lincoln Town Car.
Hopefully, Lincoln will send us one when it's available, PershingTrooper. Thanks for watching!
Can some of the features be turned off?
What if I needed to flee a threat and it was a person in front or behind the vehicle?
Awesome Review!!
Thanks for watching, ChildofYAH!
This is the first car I have seen with a factory mag wheel spare tire
Next to my 2022 Escalade SHEEEESHHHH
Oh I love my 2017 CT6 I heard that’s the last year they made it this big inside so my car is bigger than your car if you have anything after 2017. This is a beautiful car it is the same color as they show this car in 2020. Has all the bells and whistle’s incredible Car!
Yes, it's a shame they stopped making the CT6, Patricia Clayton. We enjoyed our time with this one. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
98k is aspirational. It will selling 30k plus south of that in a year. What luxury German or Japanese car would you compare this to at 98k?
@@nupecarrera your on crack nobody likes the new supra this Cadillac is a beast
Warren J.
This might be something I should consider instead of a full size suv, but still researching but won't buy a new one, too much for me.
Well done!
@@jeffreydilallo18 Thanks for watching!
Would look a little meaner in the back if it had those wide tail pipes on it
Beautiful luxury ride
Shame that it's been discontinued ☹️
We saw similar reports, s blake. Now we're seeing that it may be just the CT6-V that's discontinued. Who knows, since Cadillac sent this one to us for review. Thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics They are still making it in China, but the Hamtramck Plant where it was manufactured has closed. The last CT6 was made in the USA in January.
Everytime GM finally comes out with a cool v8 sedan it gets shit canned. i.e the SS, G8 6.2, CTS V wagon/coupe. Its our faults for following the new norm of crossovers/SUVs.
Damn I want one !!!!
It looks so good
Couldn't agree with you more, Tellie Smith. Thanks for watching!
Great review!
Thanks for watching, Neoprene00!
wait, rear steering????? must be lying
Yeah but what's up with the Blackwing ?
I will not complain about the gas mileage, I just need to feel comfortable when I am traveling long ways. High gas mileage is no good if I am uncomfortable.
Comfort is an area where this CT6 shines, aperxmim. In fact, it's an area where many Cadillacs shine, at the expense of good driving characteristics. Fortunately, the CT6 has both! Thanks for watching!
Wow this ride is loaded.
Sure is, Rodolfo Aguirre. Thanks for watching!
That a beautiful lookin car I looking for one but it as to be the blackwing
Yeah, the Blackwings can be tough to come by, Murda Muzik. Thanks for watching!
Great review , but at 98K it should have rear passenger wireless charging and heated and cooled cup holders. Other than that...🏁😎🏁👍
I would definitely enjoy this ride. The Caddy for Big Daddy!
We see ya, Ron Parker. Thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics Fam, Keep doin' what you do... Respect
I thought the discontinued the ct6
Good review
Thank you, Drew Yager!
Can Cadillac CT6 dethrone Lexus LS500
This is my choice for the whole family from me. 😇🙏
Sometimes you have to make the tough decisions on your own, Dr. Jerome Ellington Lt. Col. USAFR. 😂 Thanks for watching!
It leave all extra unnecessary stuff and make beautiful car. It makes a statement for sure
Just when Cadillac gets it right, it gets DISCONTINUED! Dang... Check out the CT4 & CT5... Cadillac needs a luxury coupe and convertible despite what their statisticians say. See you later.
Wow I'm in love
Uh, you're referring to the car, right?😜. Thanks for watching, Angel Soft!👍🏾
lol
Cadillac sedan should wide 78inch and 221inch long Cadillacs mean huge and big
Ha! Well at 205.8", the CT6 is a big car, aziz urrehman. Anything longer and you'd have a difficult time fitting it in a garage. We're just hoping that Cadillac can implement the CT6's great driving dynamics into some of it's smaller cars. Thanks for watching!
This* Cadillac sedan is* 78* inches* wide* and 221 inches long. Is it that what you were trying to say?
Very nice but where is the CD Player?
CD players are gradually disappearing, Jermaine M. The last car we had with one was a Chrysler Pacifica (video coming soon!). Thanks for watching!
I might would settle for the 3.6 liter engine just to squeeze out better mpg.
That's a legit consideration, Brad Williams. This is why Chris drives his 3.0L wagon as opposed to a V-series wagon. Thanks for watching!
AutoAcademics Thanks. A V Series sure would be nice though.
Is this engine a diesel?
Great job
Can’t wait for u to do the new Escalade
I think Cadillac cheated us on this one. They were gun shy on the Escala
My dream car
How much?
