For me the best bit of 40k lore I learned this year was that the metal plate on ghazguls head is actually a terminator butt plate.
The coloured pegs on the Christmas tree = genius!

Just a brief thing about Gundam kits at the end, they actually are made to be painted, I’d highly suggest looking up the gunpla World Cup winners for the year to see some amazing examples

The helmet carried by Azrael's watcher was originally The Lion's, however that lore slowly changed over time. I really think with the return of The Lion Azrael should have returned the helmet and gained a different one. I liked it more that it was a relic from the Lion that was providing that aura.
The Lions armour is new anyway, he got that (presumably) from the Emperor, just like Fealty and the Shield. It's still called "The Lion's Helm", and for all we know, the Lion might have once worn it. I'm sure Primarchs had various sets of armour. Horus definitely had several different suits, not just his black Terminator armour, for example.
By that way, I was the commenter shouting out the Ewok Murder Village.
I also keep referencing the Regiment painting guide wherever I can too!
Mini of the year for me was the simple Khorne Berzerker. I just think they did a fantastic job with that kit. Not a big, flashy centrepiece but a brilliant battleline sculpt; so dynamic and true to their lore.

I'm still surprised with the Votann kill team that GW didn't just put their rules in White Dwarf magazine when their new 40k kits were put out instead of waiting until the kill team box was released.

Cult of Paint really gave me a confidence boost with airbrushing AND Tamiya Paints. Henry's love of Tamiya's XF-2 is on par with Peachy's love for Sharpe.
Alot of people dont realise with steam and gamepass, then all the streaming services you arent buying a product your pretty much renting indefinetly which means they can get rid of it or change it. The best thing to do is own a physical disk

NO, THAT COMMISSION PAINTING IDEA IS GENUINELY BRILLIANT!! Its bloody impossible to find a commission painter that will just do table top standard 3 colours and based!!!
Are you not seeing painters that offer tabletop standard as a level? I'm pretty sure I've seen it a bunch and offer it as a level myself (mostly doing local commissions). Or are you just not seeing it at a price you want to pay? Genuinely curious there.

Being one of the space ducks contributors it was great to see everyone come together to raise money for Calm and Sobs. The painting phase minis were all great and the dreadnaught was my favourite upclose

Love this video. Very inspiring. In fact I think I’ll be starting my army for Hobgoblin this weekend now. It’ll be my first army ever. I’ve mostly been painting, single figures and war bands, for being the agnostic skirmish games like Forbidden Psalm, Stargrave and The Doomed. Excited to get them painted and start playing my first rank and flank game.

Happy new years! I looked up the tasting notes for the Old World Rye on their website and they seem far tastier than government warnings haha. Caramel, vanilla, and winter fruit for the nose. Rye spice, apricots, plums, raisins, dates, and honey for the palate. Hope that retroactively helps with your whiskey tasting experience.

A lot of Gundams are painted by removing parts from the sprue and cleaning them, then painting and varnish, then assembly. Sometimes you'll want to do some sub-assembly before painting. But they'll be fully poseable at the end of it.

I picked the 30k schimatar jefbikes. The new flight stand worked wonders for the kit and plastic was the cherry on the cake

I know it's a core unit and boring infantry, but the new Saurus for Lizardmen were everything I hoped for and more. The 90's and 00's art done justice, 25 years later.
If only the Tomb Kings had been as lucky in their "release"....

I kind of wonder if the Desolator Squad wasn't something similar to the case of Clown Nagash's head - in that the sculptor made a decent-looking kit, but some higher-up decided it needed to be more over the top, then the ridiculous version got approved...

With your Airbush compressor put it on top of either a thick soft mouse mat or even better a foam sound panel tile. It really muffles the sound of the compressor and stops it vibrating accross the wooden floor.
RE: Adding all the guns.
I'd recommend it for the Riptide. It looks rad.

I have to agree with Geoff on the Terminator Chaplain. It's not a poor sculpt but considering how more animated all the other Terminators are, it's quite a static pose. It looks like a bigger version of the old 90s metal Terminators, it's almost like a Lego person pose, body kind straight, arms bent at the elbow slightly but holding his crosius and shield in line with the body. Compare it to the Chaplain on Bike, which is absolutely bad-ass in his look, it's quite deflating

I wasn’t angry about the Rogal Dorn’s floor flaw, I was just disappointed.
Love the show, but if I had one complaint, it's that you don't edit pictures in of each mini as you talk about them. I appreciate that you put these out as audio podcasts too, plus it's probably a pain of a job to do, but it'd add so much to the youtube experience. Otherwise, keep up the good work!

The Lion got all new armor. Azrael holds the Original Lion helm.
Re the rogal dorn tank and 'what would you lose' - I think the greebles/stowage like jerry cans and toolboxes etc should be on a separate sprue either common to all kits or available like an upgrade sprue, so there would then have been space.
If Bandai did that Cerastus Mega Bolter, the ammo linkage would be one piece, flexible and all on one sprue! If you never bought a few Gundam kits or two. I highly recommend.

Concerning the stock problem and things selling out before really going live, maybe its because stores can place their orders the week before it goes live on the webstore.
I have the Guard pre Christmas boxed set to put together so have two Rogal Dorns to build soon, but I base all my tanks so I'll never know its there.
No mention of the Nid models! Massive and gorgeous range refresh but it’s AoS vs Marines apparently. :)

Wow all 3 of these guys are in exactly the same stage regarding AoS i sat in for years, ever since they put out the Idoneth.
My past two years have been:
"Someone wants to do an army swap for my least favorite 40k army to my most favorite aos army"
"Oh no these are more fun to assemble"
"Oh no these are more fun to paint"
"Oh no the game is really really good"
"Oh no every new miniature theyre doing is suddenly absolute fire and all the 40k stuff is super super safe and predictable."
Even when the 40k models are huge and impressive like angron the fact that i already know *pretty* much what hes gonna be makes him hit less hard than when AoS just hits you with an incredible visual spectacle miniature like Ionus or Ushoran or Belthanos and you dont already know every ecrap of lore and you dont know what their mechanics are going to be.
Its like im some kind of miniature collector and thats the best way to structure the hobby for me.
This is an unpleasant rule: the more popular a TH-camr becomes, the less he loves Age of Sigmar, and the more he loves the Old World.
Why? Because Total War audience, you have to adapt to their tastes.
In my opinion this is irrational.
SEGA has almost milked the old fantasy license dry, their only next step is Total War: Age of Sigmar.
And then we will see how the masks change.
Good wrap-up, last year saw quite a few stunning pieces come out. GW-wise AoS was for me a clear winner and Belthanos and the flesh-eater court stuff the standouts, although Farsight was good. Nothing else tempted me to buy, it was an odd year as while I thought a lot of the GW output was good, it wasn't until the end anything actually grabbed me enough to want it. A big part could be the space marine effect, they just don't interest me as models. Non-GW wise Ewok release was long awaited and I am nearly finished with a full Ewok army. as was the return of Another Day in the corp and House Bolton for ASOIF.
This year, I am focused on finishing current projects, the upcoming ASOIF tactics looks great with the insane Dragon, and I am interested to see what Warlords Epic Ancients shape up to be.
I appreciate you calling out the difference between corporate output and the staff's passion and effort. Most of us have probably worked really hard at something just to keep things ok, at some point, but the effort doesn't make the result good. Also on pricing and GW, aside from the hobby value is subjective and therefore individual - you either want it enough or not, let's not forget while they need to make money GW is a viable business and can pay the staff bringing in the total turnover less the share dividends they payout, that is excess profit.

It's a shame that often the corperate response to people leaving is to take the stick approach rather than carrot, sadly common across many industrys, it's rare to find a company that treats it's employee's like adults for lack of a better term but if you do hold onto that job :D
