      Good job, Pete. Ever thought about interviewing "some shady, interesting, scam artists/dreamers from Dublin"?

    Love this dude. I have been going to Thailand for 30 years and met some beyond shady dudes. All Westerners. At the same, time have made friends with some of the most grounded rational people you could ever meet. Always an interesting set of characters in any place.

    Gee, I must live a boring life. I’ve lived in Thailand for 19 years now ( 15 years in a Pattaya) & never met any interesting characters. (But I don’t hit the bar scene)

    SO GOOD. It is absolutely true, majority of foreigners living in Bangkok are some sort of outcast with a unique often very entertaining story. Of course, how would you end up living in Bangkok if you love a standard career somewhere in farang land :D

    • @kevinreily2529
      @kevinreily2529 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Who wants a standard career somewhere in Farangland? Those guys you speak of often have huge amounts of debt, are stuck in unhappy marriages, ("cheaper to keep her") with nothing special, older wives, and many other problems they cannot escape from.
      In America we have millions of "alimony slaves", guys who have lost everything in a divorce. They only wish they could be a so called outcast in a laid back warm weather foreign culture and enjoy a more peaceful life.
      Especially if they hail from cold weather climates.

      It sounds like Florida or Alaska,when guys commit so many heinous crimes they become recognizable they often change their looks as much as they can. Many grow beards or change their hair ,even now change their gender and move to Alaska or Florida when leaving prison because they are not welcome returning to their former home state. If their victims family had threatened to make sure they never commit further crimes , they go to the furthest part of the USA to live out their parole. That’s why so many dangerous pedos & rapists live in the ends of the US. Criminals from the East go to Alaska from the west Florida. The horrible part many of these men changing their gender for a way for rapists & pedos now having access to areas for only women & kids like bathrooms etc. This is a reason I am carful with Expats when I travel outside theUs. Too many fake men of God or English teachers. Sorry for those who are real in these jobs getting the side eye.

    Just gotta voice my disagreement when Boaz says "the problem with recovered junkies is that they never really recover..." Yeah addiction is an incurable condition like diabetes that you have to live with the rest of your life, but like diabetes it is manageable when you recognize it as such. Boaz's comment could be quite damaging to someone who is struggling so perhaps they'll read this and find help.

    • @boazzippor1972
      @boazzippor1972 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i agree with you that junkies who are working NON-STOP on not slipping back, have a higher chance of leading a normal life. from what i see, the only way to actually recover, is to exchange the addiction with another addiction, a healthier one. religion usually works for that. (but because of modern western society, there is a lot of antagonism to religion)

    I didn't know any expat junkies in 8 years in Thailand, though we did drink regularly (outside) in Patpong. Bobby's Arms Hotdog Stand. Outdoor patio, cafe style, to watch the moveable feast going by. Did see a Thai took-took driver openly huffing in Chiang Mai once. I simply do not associate with drug users and never have.

    A monthly spot each for a few popular guests is not a bad idea (Tales from Thailand with ....). Each special guest gets a 5 to t0 minute spot. You could increase the # of videos per month.
