- I interview Loy Machedo about how he earns a living in Thailand. Loy is a personal branding strategist and how he runs this business and makes money is different from most people. Loy is a controversial character and has made many enemies over the years due to how outspoken he is online. Loy is also very critical about how TH-camrs present Thailand in their videos. He believes that TH-camrs create false hope and dreams for their audiences by portraying Thailand as a eutopia where everybody can come and make money and live an easy life.

This guy uses the same formula that has been around for years. He speaks very bluntly and with confidence. This is usually enough to win certain types of people over who will see him as refreshing and almost guru-like. However, his ideology is often flawed and he sometimes contradicts himself within a span of minutes (says he's not interested in being your friend and even if you're suicidal he won't talk to you unless you pay him his fee, then says one of the biggest problems in India is greed and gives the example of bartering with a poor person over merchandise). He comes across as set in his ways and seems to believes his views are "common sense" views while too many others are lacking in wisdom. Interesting guy and I respect him for living his life his way but I would be very cautious in coming to him for any type of real world advice. The world is full of people who thought they had it figured out only to find they didn't and even more full of disaster stories of people who followed them. That said, I'm not one of the people who dislikes Loy. The world needs people with different views. Just giving my honest opinion.
Very articulate reply and I agree with your assessment but logic has no place here. 😄 Much like our current political atmosphere people feel the right to say they hate a certain cultural, race or religious people and that they're absolutely comfortable to do so....just don't say anything about their culture, race or religion...its a one way opinion and the only there one is the right opinion

Loy is brutally honest and it's good that you gave him a voice on your channel. Folks need to realise that although Thailand is a beautiful and amazing country, there's also many harsh realities which many find out when it's too late. Cheers Loy and Thairish!

Pete, here is my useless opinion. I guess I'm going to be the "Negative Nellie" this time. I don't care that he's so blunt and "refreshingly honest." He's an extremely unpleasant person, a cold, mercenary misanthrope and in my lay-opinion, a hardcore narcissist. I'm a former investigator who is trained to spot deception by interviewees, and he exhibited some classic "tells" when you put tough questions to him about his alleged business. Personally, I don't believe him at all about "making his first million," unless he's talking about baht. His slip-up saying 5,000 baht instead of dollars (and his reaction to his mistake) was very telling. Also, he was very evasive whenever you tried to get a little more info about what he does. When you pressed some more, he basically admitted that his "personal branding" is just resume-writing. He may be crafty and clever at conning people out of money, but that doesn't make him professional or decent. I don't believe that any of his clients are smart or secure people. I think they're only people weak enough to be impressed by the force of his personality. And I think the fact that the admits to not allowing his child in the room with him most of the time makes him a sociopath (or something like that, I'm not a psychologist... but it's wrong). I see that he has a large majority of your commenters fooled. Perhaps some of them can be future clients of his?
I caught exactly the same traits of deception. We had a straight-up con man in our family, and this guy could be a twin (without the tattoos).

Thank you, your right, and what honestly stuns me, is that he has actually fooled so many people on here! I have a background in the mental health field, and, yes, he may fit the clinical definition of narcissistic personality, but there are degrees of this, and his doesn't quite achieve the level of a Steve Rossie for instance. I think he just fell into a niche market, where he occasionally makes money off of people by legally scamming them. I do think his childhood, and homelessness is just a shtick, and not based in reality, and is just part of the detailed confidence man that he has created. When really sifting through all that he said, nothing he has said lines up in the least, but hey, as long as his clients/victims survive the experience and come away with less money, and just a red face of embarrassment, then consider themselves as having a new life experience.

He’s been doing this work for 25yrs but 11 years ago he was living on the street without enough money to eat and contemplated suicide. That is persistence , you’d think if you had been doing a job for 14yrs and couldn’t earn enough money to eat you’d think you would try a different line of work.
So people are paying you 100 grand but you have to work 12 to 16 hours a day for 5 years to have a holiday hmmm 🤨

The problem with people like Loy, is they think & deal with absolutes. It’s their way or get lost, yes/no, black/white, go/stay, marry/don’t marry etc.. That works for him, and good luck to him. However, what works for some, may not work for others. I feel the world is more complicated and simplistic absolutes will not cut it. I would avoid gurus who think they know all things.

I admire his straight answers as there is much truth to what Loy is saying. I’ve lived in Thailand and there are many pointers he mentioned which I experienced. Loy keeps going back to the term hard work and yes it does take hard work for anything you do to achieve your goals. Great on him for following his goals.

Let me start by saying that you do good jobs in asking questions and u give your guests a fair time to speak and share their ideas. I have known Loy Machedo since 2010 and I know exactly his real story and the one he is hiding from others. In Dubai Loy had a great career as coach and fluent speaker and he made great $$$$ until he dicided to become more greedy and got himself involved in a faking certificates and committing fraud activities untill he was cought by Dubai police and was given a set date to leave the country and got deported from UAE with a ban on his passport which prevents him from going back to UAE or even other GCC countries. He was broken desperate and gave up all his dreams in UAE and decided to find another country to travel and live there. India wasn't on his plans because he hated being Indian and all other Indians including his family. So he decided to go Thailand which he already visited before and had an idea about live there. He was desperately looking for a visa or someone to sponser him in Thailand and realisee that marriage is the easiest way so he fooled his poor wife and married her without even giving her money,gold or even do any wedding. He was again desperate to get Visa that allows him to stay in Thailand. The sad part is that he always talks sh*t about his wife background and how he saved her from poverty when actually she was the one who svaed him from being a begger on Indian's street and she brought him to Thailand. She even calls him sir????? After he married her he decided to talk sh*t about UAE with fake and made up stories claiming he knnows UAE sheikhs,billionaires,politician,high profile ppl, lol , yet he fails to prove hos made up stories. He share any negative news about Dubai/UAE from any newspaper and he adds some Indian spices to these stories 🌶️🌶️ He hates Arabs,Muslims and anything related to them because he believes UAE destroyed his dreams and thrown him out for committing frauds. Problem of ppl watching his videos is that they believe anything ing he says blindly without even verifying or even some due diligence. Currently he lives in Thailand and depends entirety on his struggling TH-cam channel to earn $800 a month which makes him survive on the island. He makes upto 4 or 5 videos a day and work maybe 15-18 hours to edit them but he claims that he spends many hours with clients or branding???? Maybe he is doing it without getting any sleep or eating foods. Poor ppl fool into his lies and maybe some of poor Indian villagers pay him their hard earnt money to find jobs in UAE because he claims he knows VVIP ppl there lol. maybe these UAE VVIP whom he claimed they known him should have supported him from the begining and saved him from getting thrown out from UAE lol! I worked as a mental health counselor in a locked psychiatric facility and it seems like I have seen this movie before. When you do an online search of "Symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder", here is what comes up: "Psychological- depression, distorted self image, grandiosity or narcissism, thoughts of suicide. Mood- anger, anxiety, general discontent, loneliness, mood swings or sadness. Behavioral- antisocial behavior, compulsive behavior, hostility, impulsivity, irritability, risk taking behaviors, self harm, social isolation, lack or restraint". There is an old saying in the mental health field concerning borderline personality disorder..... " You can never win with a borderline, so it is best to run when you see one". They can be engaging and "present well", however they usually lack insight and can be defensive. Generally speaking, nothing is ever their fault, they blame everything on everyone else and refuse to take responsibility for their actions. They have few true friends, as most of their relationships last less than a year, due to their inability to get along well with others. They can share symptoms with sociopaths, considering themselves to be better than other people, smarter and more special, the rules don't pertain to them. They tend to be very black and white, no middle ground, all or nothing. The shoe seems like it might fit in this case.

No one is perfect, even Jordan Peterson had a pill (valium) problem. Loy clearly doesn't have much money, and he's turned his little Bangkok trip to interview with you into some big 'VIP sponsored client' nonsense shtick on his own channel. He's clearly insecure and has issues with lying, but... that being said- he gives good advice and says sensible things in a lot of videos such as the ones about his ADHD, his views on marriage, relationships, so on and so forth. It's not all worthless. As for his choices in life, I see a man with a healthy child and a wife who serves him. This is more than many of his detractors can claim to have. His path got him to a tropical paradise island, his own child (biological success as a human). For now the bed he has made for himself looks not so bad to me. Even if he has no clients at all and no money, even a $1 a day incremental addition from the shit he puts out on TH-cam day after day over the years can add up. If he can control his lying and be less hostile/rude to everyone, he does have a fairly bright future.

Life is not just about making money. Yes I understand when you've lived in poverty you feel you need to hustle to make money; however, when you sacrifice personal relationships foregoing friends and family is not healthy eventually leads to regrets later in life by then it's too late. He is still not mature enough to understand value of building relationships and keeping it. You need to work towards achieving balance across all phases of your life to get most of out life.

I have watched both videos as well as some on his own channel and in my opinion this guy is a hustler. As far as I can see, he has no other claim to fame other than he has had an extremely hard life. He now sells his bravado as some sort of panacea to people foolish enough to pay for it. I can’t see any redeeming features in this individual, he seems almost amoral. He certainly has views that make him repulsive to a wide range of your viewers. it’s interesting to note that in one of his own videos he declares himself a big admirer of Donald Trump, make that what you want.

I can't say he's likable. Nor does he have anything of interest to me. But he's plain spoken, respect.
There are a few things i would like to place my arguments:
If he doesn't care about anyone, he is brutally straight, how did he lose 50% of his savings to a scamster? If we aren't his friends, why should anyone be empathetic to his nasty experiences? Because he is a script writer of his own destiny.
He also keeps mentioning that he earnt millions by going to Dubai, how did he go to Dubai? What were the avenues without his family's assistance, Who helped him go to Dubai?
If all his experiences are based on life in Dubai, why does he live and propagate life in Dubai while living in another country? Sometime back i saw his videos while he was complaining about nothing to do in Samui. His videos had about 400-500 views 2 years ago, now probably twice as many views. His way of mentoring is suitable for people who believe in sadomachism. He is rude to himself & I wouldn't be surprised to see the same behaviour to his loved ones. He is the one who believes that he can choreograph the best resume & he can pick a copied resume, but he propagates that chat gpt is an awesome resume builder. A person whom I wouldn't even consider to meet up for free. Lol

This guys bluntness is unintentionally funny.. The bit where he says people contact him to say they're depressed and want to kill themselves.. "I tell them my charges". Almost pissed myself. I wonder why they thought this guy was the right person to call anyway? I think I'll pass on his personal branding service. Yesterday I said I like him. Today I think he gets what he deserves in his greed. There are lots of guys like him in Thailand and elsewhere (some of them even advertise in this channel). If he was a real businessman, he would not have made that mistake with that woman. There is still a distorted view of reality, as honest as he sounds.
Anyone with an iota of perspicacity can easily through the chicanery this guy employs. If he makes you believe him then he isn’t at fault, you’re stupid.
