Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco was one of the most promising Italian composers of his generation. Castelnuovo wrote music inspired by many Shakespearean plays; one of them is Much Ado About Nothing. In this overture, one of his very last, he depicts the main elements of the piece comprising the main parts of the stage piece such as the speech of Leonato, the Funeral Invocation of Claudio and the Love Duet of Beatrice and Benedick.

Castelnuovo escribió música para varias obras de Shakespeare; una de ellas siendo Mucho ruido y pocas nueces. En esta, una de sus últimas oberturas, describe los principales eventos de la obra teatral como el discurso de Leonato, la invocación fúnebre de Claudio y el Dueto de Amor de Beatriz y Benedicto.
