Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco was one of the most promising Italian composers of his generation. Castelnuovo wrote music inspired by many Shakespearean plays; among them the Dances of Love’s Labour’s Lost, one of the Immortal Bard’s earliest comedies. Opposite of Shakespeare, Castelnuovo’s suite is a work of maturity in which the orchestral colors are filled with film nuances, yet it remained unpublished until this current edition by Alessandro Marangoni.
Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco fue uno de los compositores italianos más prometedores de su generación. Castelnuovo escribió música para varias obras de Shakespeare; entre ellas las Danzas para Trabajos de amor perdidos, una comedia temprana del bardo inmortal. Al contrario de Shakespeare, la suite de Castelnuovo es una obra madura en el que los colores orquestales poseen cualidades fílmicas, muy a pesar de que la obra quedara sin publicarse hasta esta edición por Alessandro Marangoni.
