  • Attempting my first inlays using the xTool D1. I was happy with the outcome. But I did learn that I might try cutting the inlay pieces after adjusting the kerf on my next attempt.

    Subbed and joined FB Group. Thanks. I should be getting XTool sometime soon. Lot of delivery delays but I look forward to it. Good job here.

      Thanks for the subscription. I won't be using the Facebook group for much at this time. It was an easy way to post the poll for the haircut. I've only been exposed to lasers and LightBurn since Father's Day this year. I'm learning every day and sharing what I learn. Stay tuned. I hope to continue to learn and share.

      @@HoboWithWood no worries. I’m not looking to fill up a social feed. Could be a good information share. Thanks.

    Very cool. You should change the title of this to "Making a wood inlay with the X-Tool D1

      Took your advice. I added xTool D1 to the title.

    Hello Hobo; This kind of work is really cool. I don't understand why you used adhesive tape to hold the inlays, since you can fix each one in its place after cutting. Thank you for demonstrating your work.

      The pieces I collected and put on the tape were "scrap." They were the Walnut pieces that were removed to create the "pockets" and I didn't want to throw them away. So I put them on the tape for safe keeping. These were not being used in this project.

    what settings did you use to cut through the wood?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching ysbel. This was a piece of thin scrap, (.100). So I was able to cut through this piece in two passes at 5mm/sec. But, you will have to test for your settings.

      @@ysbelbella6674 using a 10 watt xTool, .125 thick basswood should easily be cut cleanly through in 3 passes at 6mm/s and 100% power.
