Don't insult people who use the AA defensively. Both teams have it, it's simply a game mechanic and it's the attackers fault for fighting over the AA in the first place.

one time in my F4U-4B i got damaged by a bomber that i ignored so i had to go and rtb, and a spitfire, and a yak tailed me all the way to the ground im running away barely able to keep up, and i see an A-26 infront of me so i shoot down this A-26 and the damaged A-26 corpse rams into the yak AND nicks the spitfire enough to take off his wingtip

I’m getting crits at 1.5km with 7.62mm. Be accurate and patient. I usually fire before the reticule registers and I’ve destroyed many aircraft this way.
There is one stand out about the LA9: the firepower. It's among the absolute top for piston engines (used to be no1), and when using FI-T belts you can bring down even heavy bombers with very short bursts, as the shells have very high individual dmg, and the RoF is high from the four guns. You can see plenty of examples in this video, with very short burst giving crits or kills with good reliability. When it comes to the rest it has been powercrept. It used to be pretty good at climbing (still not bad imo) certainly among the best in the russian piston tree, with "not bad" turn.
i think theres a problem with la's adn turret 50cals So i was just casualy playing the la5fn got 2 kills and then a p61 dived on me i dodge him with no problem and then when i was on his six ready to kill him he shoots i think 4 bulets from his 50cal and my pilot die instantly. Not even him believed that, he tough some aaa killed me or something like that.
The higher you go, the more toxic it gets. I just stay at 3.0-4.7 fun tiers, because grinding top tiers is dumb and there are no other reasons for me to get higher
The AAA is so inconsistent at times, i don't know whether to fear them, or not. The enemy seems to live and dodge every single shot, while i get pilotsniped in 1 hit.
There are plenty of people that notwithstanding the AAA even on prop tiers will happily banzai you on your airfield when you land and are prepared to conceed defeat with your plane in one piece. The fact that there is no "safe" zone in top tier (due to ineffectiveness of AAA against Mach 1 jets) only ensures that the loosing team looses ALL their vehicles... thank you GJN for all the love.
I wish theyd add playable SAM launchers. If you can use aircrsft in ground battles for no skill easy kills in groujd RB its only fair to allow you to use SAM launchers in air RB.
I feel like the TRUE Warthunder experience is: Being the only person on your team to climb and watching your entire team offer themselves up to the enemy team and then complain they didn't have any back-up. Getting up-tiered every game for an entire hour and stomped by planes that excel yours in every single way. Getting ganked by someone because the spotting mechanic decided you didn't need to see the plane that was right above you. Having a bomber climb to space and losing a fantastic game just because you don't have any ground options. Me bitter? Why would you say that :)
Also, that feeling of dunking on a guy at lower altitudes, only to go full vertical and realizing you forgot to check your surroundings and theres a p-47 just hauling so much ass in your direction.
pro tip, because the plane has 4 cannons the ammo displays 2 different cannon groups, and you can control them separately, which doubles your firing time, but considering that those 23mm's do hella damage it's nothing
I just spaded the Chinese La-9 and idk about you but I loved every game in it. I adore this plane because it’s just so much fun and I think it’s really good.
This relates to the AA from the first game, I had a game yesterday where I had two or three kills in the first 5 minutes, but the game lasted around 20 because the last two enemies decided to camp AA, luckily I killed one and my teammate sacrificed himself for the other.
3 things: - That B24 Situation you most likely got killed by Gunner AI that decided to do its job at that Moment because you were close enough for them actual doing something and in 1 of 500 Situations like that, this happens xD - I really noticed these last minute Head Ons too and man do i hat these guys, often they turn so late into you, that you cant evade anymore and crash into them. - These 23mm are better. Way higher Bullet Density and also better Range when you can aim them in a Headon. Maybe even less Spread, because i bet some of these enemies didnt had spaded Planes. p.s. Pls play the A32A, that thing gets no Recognition at all. I recently spaded it and having a Blast in it. Also it got buffed today, now having double the amount of Cannon Ammo. Playing your Energy Advantage Card right and you can Dodge Almost all Enemies. I also changed for testing the Gun Target Distance to 150 or 200m to get a wider Fireing Cone when i jump Enemies, because these Swedish 20mm really have a very small concentrated Firing Point otherwise and i had so many Situations where the Enemy got away because all bullets missed the target by half a dwarf xD Also it is the only Plane so far where i used the Radar actively every Match to look from where Enemies are closing in especially in the Early Stage to look out for Yak38, Su-7, A4Es and AV8s to prevent getting jumped by them.

Yeah its why sometimes i disagree with Spit's balancing ideas because they often revolve around his own experience for the game. For example in his video about changes needed for WT in 2021, he considered that a repair cost of 25k was the absolute maximum RC for a vehicle, which honestly makes no sense because a single vehicle will likely never grant you 25k SL a life unless it is so busted that another change is needed anyways. Even blatantly overpowered vehicles like the 2A6 can't even get that kind of killstreak despite like a 80% winrate for top tier german teams

Remember that for every massive killstreak you go on, that's that many players that are getting 3 minutes games for 1k SL and a 10k+ RC. Sure most of the time its because they play like idiots but you can't balance repair costs to account for the skilled playerbase when they only represent a statistical minority and would perform well in any plane regardless how bad it is.

@@pyencdocde5716 The La-15 is a great somewhat underrated plane tbh. Its fast enough to keep up with everything except Sabres at its tier and its quite maneuverable too, very fun jet to fly. I used it to grind the La-200 because that is also an interesting plane to fly (very different from the La-15 obviously)

Part of the Lala’s issue I think comes down to how Alt dependent it is compared to other super props. Above 4km, it loses HARD, because it has no WEP. If the battle takes place near or at the deck, then the Lala can quickly turn things around, just due to being such a lightweight aircraft (even lighter than the Mk IX’s iirc)
I'd argue the La-9 is generally above average (at lower alts) and fixes the biggest some of the biggest issues of the La-7: firepower and dive speed, though it doesn't fix the medium to high alt performance problems and is a bit worse in sustained maneuvers. binding a separate key for low or high caliber guns lets you conserve ammo by only firing two of the four cannons at once. It does run into some problems vs the really good american props (F4U-4Bs and P-51H-5 mainly) but it can generally find a way to beat pretty much everything else it faces. It can also do 640kph on the deck, so running works well against everyone but america.
I have a question why would you climb in an la 9 ? Cuz my expirience with the la 9 is stay low and fast but maybe u can give me more insight to climbing with it
In my experience, you want to stay below 3 km (around 2.5) with as much speed as possible. The way you get your energy advantage is by baiting the enemy into diving with you to the deck (La-9 outdives P-47M) and using your superior low-altitude performance to reset the fight back into your favour
Any altitude over your opponents is good altitude even if your plane doesn’t perform well at that alt. If a zero is above you then what? You can’t always outrun them. Same for Ki-84s
@@georgebennett715 it's just a matter of situational awareness, probably the most important skill for good performance in La-7/La-9 (and one of the most important skills in Air RB in general). When you are in a faster plane, you generally want your enemy to perform shallow dives because straight-line speed doesn't matter in steep dives. So it's just a matter of not flying directly under the enemy (or if you are doing so, making sure you go above 650 km/h, preferably around 700). Also Zero's power to weight is not that good because its engine is absolute sh*t. A6M5 has much worse power to weight compared to La-7: 400 hp/t vs 560 hp/t. This comparison is a bit unfair, because La-7 has the best P/W in the whole BR range of 3.7-4.7, but 400 hp/t is still way below average for this BR. Even in downtiers most of A6M5's opposition will have better P/W (typically between 480 hp/t and 520 hp/t). The only way Zerocan keep up with La in a straight line is if both start at very low speed (all La's have problems with thrust under 200 IAS, while Zeros do not have this problem). After you go past 200 IAS, La-7 has better acceleration. And keeping your speed up is the main rule in La-7/9. If you go slow, you've already made a mistake and this mistake doomed you, not the fact that there was a Zero above.
Yesterday tried to bait them into AAA, either some maps are really bad AAA or they nerfed the range because 3 props flying 2km from them and they do nothing for like 1-3minutes.
Your head on game is far superior to anything I could ever achieve at my current aim skill level. I would have never connected those 1.5km shots for crits or kills. As for the full-commit head on, I can't seem to get away from them. Even when I don't want to, or wasn't even looking at a threat coming around to go head on, they still surprise me. I would say getting killed in a last-minute head one equates for at least half of my deaths in the last year. Players always go for it. A machismo thing I suppose. I still struggle with how to properly evade/avoid those plays.
Strangely enough, the Mk24 Spit is quite possibly the *ONLY* vehicle that I prefer to get full up tiers and face early jets in. Simply because it out turns, out climbs, and out accelerates them, and the Hispanos hit like a ton of bricks compared to the .50s

You absolutely positively have to kill the last guy in the match but then the game decides NOPE and your pilot takes a bullet to the forehead. In Tank RB you just get a ghost shell or something else. Happens ALL THE TIME....

I saw you in a match I think you were in a p-61. I was in a BV 238 and I saw him approaching another BV 238 who was a bit further away. I saw you climb and set him on fire but you stalled and he in turn set you on fire. You went down super fast in flames and you died while the BV 238 got put out. In my experience forward airbase AA is 10x deadlier than main base AA, it’s stupid when you think about it.
In some maps AAA just snipe your engine, in other it is braindead shooting.

When I land with certain planes they would flip so for me to counter I land alittle sideways with the rudder and it helps a lot when slowing down

Every time I see a spitfire going for a heavy bomber I just shake my head, especially if there is a friendly heavy fighter nearby.

Yeah its why sometimes i disagree with Spit's balancing ideas because they often revolve around his own experience for the game. For example in his video about changes needed for WT in 2021, he considered that a repair cost of 25k was the absolute maximum RC for a vehicle, which honestly makes no sense because a single vehicle will likely never grant you 25k SL a life unless it is so busted that another change is needed anyways. Even blatantly overpowered vehicles like the 2A6 can't even get that kind of killstreak despite like a 80% winrate for top tier german teams

@@lildarius6933 Yeah but remember this does not make sense for an optimal balance and gameplay point of view. Remember that for every massive killstreak you go on, that's that many players that are getting 3 minutes games for 1k SL and a 10k+ RC. Sure most of the time its because they play like idiots but you can't balance repair costs to account for the skilled playerbase when they only represent a statistical minority and would perform well in any plane regardless how bad it is.

@@pyencdocde5716 The La-15 is a great somewhat underrated plane tbh. Its fast enough to keep up with everything except Sabres at its tier and its quite maneuverable too, very fun jet to fly. I used it to grind the La-200 because that is also an interesting plane to fly (very different from the La-15 obviously)
@@niggalini I used to to grind from the MiG-17 to the SMT, very underrated indeed but I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner. Currently I'd like the have the Yak-30 but I see it, even less than the La-15, Hell even the La-174

Part of the Lala’s issue I think comes down to how Alt dependent it is compared to other super props. Above 4km, it loses HARD, because it has no WEP. If the battle takes place near or at the deck, then the Lala can quickly turn things around, just due to being such a lightweight aircraft (even lighter than the Mk IX’s iirc)

La9s do well on winter maps cause of home ground advantage
I'd argue the La-9 is generally above average (at lower alts) and fixes the biggest some of the biggest issues of the La-7: firepower and dive speed, though it doesn't fix the medium to high alt performance problems and is a bit worse in sustained maneuvers. binding a separate key for low or high caliber guns lets you conserve ammo by only firing two of the four cannons at once. It does run into some problems vs the really good american props (F4U-4Bs and P-51H-5 mainly) but it can generally find a way to beat pretty much everything else it faces. It can also do 640kph on the deck, so running works well against everyone but america.

In my experience, you want to stay below 3 km (around 2.5) with as much speed as possible. The way you get your energy advantage is by baiting the enemy into diving with you to the deck (La-9 outdives P-47M) and using your superior low-altitude performance to reset the fight back into your favour
Any altitude over your opponents is good altitude even if your plane doesn’t perform well at that alt. If a zero is above you then what? You can’t always outrun them. Same for Ki-84s

@@georgebennett715 it's just a matter of situational awareness, probably the most important skill for good performance in La-7/La-9 (and one of the most important skills in Air RB in general). When you are in a faster plane, you generally want your enemy to perform shallow dives because straight-line speed doesn't matter in steep dives. So it's just a matter of not flying directly under the enemy (or if you are doing so, making sure you go above 650 km/h, preferably around 700). Also Zero's power to weight is not that good because its engine is absolute sh*t. A6M5 has much worse power to weight compared to La-7: 400 hp/t vs 560 hp/t. This comparison is a bit unfair, because La-7 has the best P/W in the whole BR range of 3.7-4.7, but 400 hp/t is still way below average for this BR. Even in downtiers most of A6M5's opposition will have better P/W (typically between 480 hp/t and 520 hp/t). The only way Zerocan keep up with La in a straight line is if both start at very low speed (all La's have problems with thrust under 200 IAS, while Zeros do not have this problem). After you go past 200 IAS, La-7 has better acceleration. And keeping your speed up is the main rule in La-7/9. If you go slow, you've already made a mistake and this mistake doomed you, not the fact that there was a Zero above.
AA is deadly against props and early jets, but against top tier jets it does next to nothing
Yesterday tried to bait them into AAA, either some maps are really bad AAA or they nerfed the range because 3 props flying 2km from them and they do nothing for like 1-3minutes.

Your head on game is far superior to anything I could ever achieve at my current aim skill level. I would have never connected those 1.5km shots for crits or kills. As for the full-commit head on, I can't seem to get away from them. Even when I don't want to, or wasn't even looking at a threat coming around to go head on, they still surprise me. I would say getting killed in a last-minute head one equates for at least half of my deaths in the last year. Players always go for it. A machismo thing I suppose. I still struggle with how to properly evade/avoid those plays.
Would you mind giving the later spits (Mk.22 and Mk.24) a go ? I find them very enjoyable !
Strangely enough, the Mk24 Spit is quite possibly the *ONLY* vehicle that I prefer to get full up tiers and face early jets in. Simply because it out turns, out climbs, and out accelerates them, and the Hispanos hit like a ton of bricks compared to the .50s

I saw you in a match I think you were in a p-61. I was in a BV 238 and I saw him approaching another BV 238 who was a bit further away. I saw you climb and set him on fire but you stalled and he in turn set you on fire. You went down super fast in flames and you died while the BV 238 got put out. I have the F4E spaded. The F4C Suffers a lot with no flares/chaff as well as no Aim 9J. Personally, if you are enjoying where you are playing, don’t get the f4C
