      Strangely shaped and appears large, for some reason travels on its hind legs and does so comfortably
      Very odd coloration "fur" and patterns you dont recognize
      Smells unlike anything you've ever known
      You've never seen them eat vegetation, or forage, and their version of hunting is calling down thunder itself, a sound you can hear for miles and sounds like hell for your sensitive ears. Somehow, this sound means some has just been killed. They drag the carcass back to their herds instead of just consuming it and leaving the rest for scavangers, thats weird, do they even eat them?
      You've never known anyone to eat or try to hunt one but the one time one of your cousins wondered close, he died almost instantly
      They live in giant communities and seem to conjure food from the very ground, their dens composed of stone and wood and their territory isnt marked, its as if simply the fact they shape the local area like that is enough of a statement about what species owns it
      They've the forward facing eyes of a predator, so its probably best to keep your distance from whatever these things are.
      Yknow, im starting to see why so many animals are skiddish

      It turns out that plenty of "solitary" cats aren't actually that solitary, they just don't live in groups like lions. In addition to the well-documented tiger case, they're finding that cougars will share their kills with other adult cougars, not even necessarily related ones (although it's probably more likely between related ones). If Cougar A allows Cougar B to have some of its food, in the future Cougar B is more likely to let Cougar A share its kills as well. And for some reason this surprises people. I get that documenting a behavior for the first time is a big deal but why is it such a shock that these animals will tolerate each other and maybe even have friendly interactions sometimes?

    For those who don't get the ending joke, the British guy is King George V, who was king in the '10s, '20s, and '30s. I guess he must've liked tiger-hunting. But anyway, as he was dying of something or other, his personal doctor deliberately overdosed him with morphine so his death would be announced in the morning and not the evening news. He didn't ask King George or any other family members, and this was only found out many years later after nosing through his diary.

    • @JubioHDX
      @JubioHDX ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @reppit999 could be the same thing. depending on what type of color blindness you have it at times it is exactly how most prey animals see tigers. Compared to humans, canines deer and many other prey mammals are what we would consider red-green colorblind which is why the orange is indistinguishable from the green foliage (orange being a type of red essentially). Theyre better at noticing movement than us but we see more colors

      All the big cats are like this, they make one big kill and then laze around for days until they’re done with it.
      Of course making a kill is hard (unless you’re a cheetah, in which case you have a good chance of killing something on a daily basis with your 50% success rate) so in practice they end up having to spend a fair amount of time hunting.
