Some get eaten yeah, others are trained to pull sleighs or skiers for racing. Reindeer are really chill outside of the rut season; while they don't usually seek human contact, they're not afraid of people either. It's fascinating how Siberian peoples whose entire lifestyle is based on them cooperate with them because reindeer don't believe in hierarchies or pleasing humans like horses do.
You should do one on a plant, like a coconut tree (may travel across the world) or those little white flowers that pop up in the snow just before spring in Europe, back in Germany we called them schneeglöckchen i think (little snow bells).
You have a very nice, calm and soothing presenters voice. Story, like many are telling to you in the comments, is very well written. Good job, you have a personal feel in your videos which makes them stand out from the TH-cam ocean. Continue as you are :)
If you get caught by humans while having brainworm parasites, you actually got kinda lucky, because 1. Your end will be quick 2. Hunters usually avoid overly-friendly deer, because these parasites are dangerous for humans too

They have been doing it for centuries but at least the slaughter part happens only once or twice per year The rest is they live similar lives compared to the wild ones except that they face less wolves
Your channel is amazing... You just tell a bunch of animal facts, but in an understated and hilarious way with plenty of dry wit and it's just entertaining as hell. Very glad I found your stuff
Fun fact. Legally. Reindeer in Sweden are considered domesticated and as pets. If you hunt one of them, it is considered the same as you hunted a cat, dog, horse, cow or anything else that is domesticated.
I'm a reindeer myself and I can confirm that you get the happiest ending. It's some lunatics from PETA or some sh*t that always try to put out shepherds in bad light
I read somewhere that that Santas reindeers are most likely not female but are geldings. Geldings keep their antlers longer then stags and are the ones that are used mostly for dragging and racing sleighs. I think the site was Finnish and it was very interesting to read. Just thought it was an interesting fact even though I kinda ruined the joke a bit 😅

Sounds like Finnish Reindeer. I grew up with an Alaskan Reindeer herd, and it's a lot different. For instance, our reindeer are about 2,000 miles from the nearest white tail deer, they have to deal with parasitic botflies, and the herd is led by a bull while the other bulls are castrated during the summertime corrals. Spring is especially dangerous for calves as bear attack and kill a lot of fawns at once, and wolves use the calving season to teach the younger wolves how to kill reindeer, and end up killing a bunch if not stopped.
Very interesting way of teaching I might say, and also highly entertaining. Can there be some kind of calendar or month or year counter in some corner, would it be easier to get the grasp of how much time has passed.

I love how he uses a combination of reindeer photos, upright Amongus style models with stick arms, and stick figures with reindeer heads!
Same
"Amongus style" haha I love it.

The mixture of drawings and jpegs will never cease to make me chuckle

still better storytelling than disney

I take it the carrot thing is based on the European tradition of leaving carrots for the reindeer along with treats for Father Christmas aka Santa.

This is so informative!!! Fantastic reporting!🌻🌼🐝
Fantastic british humour
Yo!!! This story went dark real quick when the reindeer discovered what happened to the other reindeers before him 😂
