      Hey, I don’t know if you would consider a “supercut” of the tower project, like Wyloch did with his full Tomb of Horrors and White Plume Mountain builds, but if you do, count on several views from me, I love having crafting project videos on in the background while I’m crafting. Either way, thanks for all that you do!

      For those wondering about the cassette purchase from the BMG website: I bought mine on the 3rd (the day the video was posted) along with a couple of block prints. I live in Canada one province away, and just got the package at noon of the 5th. comes with a download card for Bandcamp. The Cassette and the insert are just beautiful, and I can't wait for more of these Dungeon Crawls that I can put next to this one on my shelf, hopefully in the near future. Great music Jeremy, thank you!

    I think 5e is great for most people, but if you're into settings/rules that reflect specific themes and styles, you're much better off looking for something that specifically deals with that. BMC's aesthetic is miles removed from 5e's mainstream aesthetic and it's good for you to focus on what delivers what you actually want

    • @johnnybigbones4955
      @johnnybigbones4955 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      5e is fine, but it sort of rules out certain playstyles without hacking it pretty extensively and is VERY high magic sort of built into the setting. If I was gonna run it I'd probably run something like Adventures in Middle Earth which makes it much lower magic and at the same time opens up a lot of the playstyles that are erased by the ubiquity of various utility spells like goodberry.

    Who hasn't at this point? Clownfish TV said that it's meant for theatre kids now, and honestly having spoken to such people I think they failed at even that. They cut out all the edge. If there's no conflict, no stakes, no edge then why would you fight? D&d is a combat and exploration game at its core, and they've carved out all the evil.
    They made it too easy for people to play. There's too many ways to cheat death. And inevitably someone is gonna say "just use the old books." You could but if something is new people expect it to be better than the previous product.
    Also your dungeon synth kicks ass, God bless ya man.
    Ya ever tried Burning Wheel?

    • @AzraelThanatos
      @AzraelThanatos 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@BlackMagicCraftOfficial Something else that you might consider that is remaining inside the more D&D umbrella (I'd ended up stuck in it with a few game exceptions where it took a lot of effort to get people to try other things, and those were mainly Star Wars and StarGate which still used D20 though in different ways), is to look into the D&D Adventure System games. They're, essentially, a heavily streamlined version of the 4e rules turned into a board game with a lot of randomized elements that work well, and those elements expand a LOT if you combine the different games because they're all made to be compatible with each other (In fact, the first two games kind of end up unbalanced without the other due to the spread of things...and the third is more of a stand alone while still being able to work with the rest of them).
      There's either 6 or 7 games in the line and each also comes with a LOT of minis, though they're largely unpainted versions of old WotC (and later WizKids) D&D minis that are color coded for easier use, though they do paint up really well.
      It's also worth it to invest in card sleeves for it, at least each of the first sets had a "promo" card that was handed out at events which a lot of places have the image of, and used to also be on the WotC site where you could print them out and sleeve them (along with the other monster cards) to have a bonus monster that was a more generic version of one of the bigger boss monsters.
      I'd found it an easier way to get people to mess around with a game because it kind of straddles between an RPG and boardgame in play, so easily gets people on the fence in while still having some of the proper feel so it's still familiar in other ways.
      It's also more of a pure dungeon crawl.

    I just want to say...thank you for introducing me to Dungeon Synth! As a Black metal/Metal/Sythwave lover there is something about the genre that just makes me happy. A lot of it sounds like if you took the white noise guitars, drums, and vocals out of early 90s black metal like Dimmu Borgir's "For all Tid" album and just left the beautiful synth work...at least to me anyway.

I also agree (as a DM for my friend group) that 5e suuuucks with its book layout (spellcasters are a pain to set up). I think something you might find cool is a game compatible with MORK BORG called forbidden psalm: Last War. its a grim WWI themed setting that has lots of potential to be adapted to tell some great dark stories.

    Cassettes are cool. Always have been. Here in the UK, lots of bands, even big ones, have started releasing new material on tape.
    Last year, I found a case of blank 90 minute tapes in a charity shop. I could only take six ten packs out of it; I couldn't fit any more in my bag. I paid £6, went home, and came back to get some more - and in 45 minutes, the rest of the case had been sold. So someone is using tape again, and I was secretly pleased that they were. I work in a scrapyard, and got a beautiful Technics tapedeck a few weeks back. Nothing wrong with it, other than the fuse in the plug had blown. I showed my manager and asked him how much. He gave his usual reply:
    "How much change have you got in your pockets right now?"
    I had £4.75.
    "Sold!" he said.

    Glad that you are getting back into the hobby. My wife and I have been without a group for several years now as people have moved away. There's nothing like a good face to face role-playing group. And yes, you will want to play something with actual rules, unlike 5e.

    Stumbled onto dungeon synth a few months back and now I have a whole playlist of various albums and individual songs. Love the genre. Brings back Sega Genisis and old 1980s sword & sorcery movie memories. The OST to Idols of Torment is great and Guardians of the 7th Tower is part of my dungeon synth playlist. Both are bangers.

    Thanks for the update. And don't worry about trying new RPG systems. I play in a group on Monday called "Everything but D&D" which is a bunch of GM's who play too much D&D and want to try out other games. So far we have done Cyperpunk Red, Aliens RPG, Pathfinder, Dark Souls RPG, and currently on Transformers RPG. You might like any of the systems by Free League and their Year Zero engine...Aliens RPG is one of them. It's the middle ground for rules but really easy to build characters...given your crafting style you might love their Mutant Year Zero game. I recently got a copy and was planning on running it sometime this year. Have fun and thanks for all the music.

    Its hard to find someone who can master music for vinyl this days. It's a dying arthy's days. Also I've heard that tape cassettes are making a comeback. One last thing don't feel bad I have a tons in my RPG pile and never played 5th edition. My play group despanded about 10 to 15 years ago And that's when I started watching channels like yours Jeremy. Good luck in your venture and I'll try to pick up a couple cassette tapes.
