Shadowdark has so much content! I have the Shadowdark books and also OSE, haven't decided completely on which to use as my main system, both are great!
It really does - more and more stuff coming out each week. It's hard to stay on top of it! Yeah, both OSE and Shadowdark are top-tier! I'd run some one-shots in each your group and see which clicks better. That's what I did, and we discovered that Shadowdark was preferred.
I'd go with Shadowdark myself (It is one of the systems I use) for more classic systems that OSE is based off you can get the books it is totally based off dirt cheap such as rules cyclopaedia it has all the BEMCI rules besides the Immortal rules (years worth of leveling content tbh. I run Shadowdark and AD&D as my main systems Shadowdark is a great mix of old and new and can easily run old and new content, AD&D can run almost everything with little changes as well I enjoy it because it is a bit more complex but to keep it simple I'd run BEMCI rules still just as good imo 🤟🏻
The borderlands one looks cool saw it when it came out, links to the other stuff they put out. Also the guys who done Wolfguard you just covered put our a new product i got it yesterday. It looks really nice, higher level stuff in a totally different placei dont think its officially connected but id run it as a different part of the world. Also Philip Reed is the man! Love his stuff i have so many damn cards lol again all of this stuff is so easly to use in most OSR/classic gaming systems its a god send
@@RedMageGM no worries I think it just came out the last day or so. I got it last night ans it looks really good. Nice big hexcrawl, and a good sized hex/point crawl. Gives good advice on where to run it in any campaign and it's levels 4-6 but level 3s can run it but would be rough (that just sounds like fun to me) also much easier for me to run in my current world than Wolfgaurd since they would have to travel so far north 😭
Great video! Thank you for shouting out these awesome products! I can't wait til my summer exams are ginished so I can get playing RPGs again and hopefully run a Shadowdark one-shot.
Ah yes the Jenga mechanic. Dread does this (a diceless pen&paper). I once had a session in a zombie apokalypse and if the tower falls you are dead. For torches I like it not so much but another way of doing the underclock or maybe in a underground oneshot the tunnels may collapse like the Jenga tower. The other supplements are looking so nice, RedMage always delivers the hot P&P stuff.
Re: Saying the name of the World's Most Futurely Microtransactioned Tabletop RPG, you couldn't say that under the OGL because the OGL explicitly included agreeing not to use the trademark or trade dress of the company. By contrast, as long as you're clear that your thing isn't her thing on the outside as part of the 3rd party license, Kelsey's pretty chill if you more or less duplicate her trade dress on the inside, which is very cool. You can make your product feel like it belongs with the core book, which is very cool! Shadowdark is intended to be expanded and tweaked for your own table.
Is Anger Root from the original keep on the borderlands? because there is a fan favorite Pathfinder 2E NPC Anchor Root from the Strength of Thousands adventure path. I'm thinking either the play on the original or vice versa. Either way, that's awesome.
Like the season of shadow. It gives a Darkest Dungeon for “fixing” the town game mechanics. Is there a way I can give you an elevator pitch for a shadow dark adventure?
Is there some kind of repository of key art that’s open license or are these module creators commissioning illustrators for each item? Thanks for this video, btw.
The jenga tower mechanic is just to gimmicky for me. I also dont always play around a steady table. I think the Shadowdark flavoring article is a good read for any dungeon crawler
Yeah, it's definitely a quirky mechanic - I wouldn't use it all the time. But I can totally imagine a tense "one-torch" delve situation where the tower really can't fall or else...
:D That is a good question...most likely to avoid the "there's a bunch of horrible monsters right down the road from us"...but maybe it was just the closest convenient box canyon!
The Forces of Law do seem to have a bad rap these days! I think his point, though, was (regardless of whether or not you focus on that particular thing) if it's something evil, the Forces of Law don't do it. That's a good point, I think!
That "Not Colonizers" bit makes the setting sound dreadfully boring. Moral quandaries are the spice of any good game. When the party kills off the orc raiding party and then discovers their camp with the women and children, that's when things get interesting. Game designers should stick to designing games and not lecture GMs about how to run their tables.
I always somehow "messed up" every moral quandary my characters were faced with when I played as a kid- I think my DM delighted in seeing my actions cause havoc. Spare the bandits? They turn out to be working for the Big Bad and cause untold chaos. Kill them? They turn out to be misunderstood Robin Hood types and now the peasants hate us. :D
Another vote for as much Shadowdark content as you want to throw at us
haha awesome!
I love the fact that you give extra attention to Shadowdark content. Thank you
For sure! It's my game of choice atm, so I'm on the lookout for great resources! :)
For real, that’s what I thought the dungeon damsel was going to do, but she doesn’t post anything 🤷🏿♂️
Agreed. Please keep bringing the Shadowdark content! 👍🏼
Honestly Keep covering Shadowdark stuff, you've earned a sub
Great to have you here!
Redmage does Shadowdark content? He gets my Shadowheart❤
The skeletons sound very gimmiky and funny
Awww thanks man! :D

More Shadowdark. More good. Keep it up!
haha yessir!!
"Caverns of Kowse": Moooooooo... xD
The secret cow level!! :D
These look great, especially Letters from the Dark which is a series I didn't know about. Thank you for sharing/reviewing.
My pleasure!
Awesome stuff as always! I don't know how I missed Letters from the Dark, but I just had to go download the whole catalogue. Thanks!
I just stumbled onto the first volume a little bit ago! Now I'm definitely on board for as long as Chris makes them! :)
Nice video thanks man, I have picked up borderlands!
Glad to hear it!!
I have the Borderlands zine in both pdf and solid , it is super cool! Can't wait to run it!

Very fun additions for Shadowdark. Thanks for the recommendations.

Loving Shadowdark stuff at the moment.
Great list and video. I love to see ShadowDark getting more love
Thanks mate!

Fun fact: the mercenary sup at 4:03 uses our (Pat's) stock art! You, too, can wield such power ✨
Excellent!
Love the video. Glad I finally found this channel.
Awesome, mate!
I love how Mothership supplements give so much extra content. This looks similar in intent?

I didn't recognize the name, but that would be awesome!

I didn't think of that connection! Totally - my email is in the channel info section.
@@RedMageGM Cool. It’s more horror than fantasy.

Both! I think some of the art is public domain, and other is commissioned.
Love Shadowdark
Thanks!!
New follower!
Great to have you!
Please make a top 10 list
Of supplements?
@@RedMageGM sure, supplemental, adventures, dungeon crawls..anything you want to make a top 10 (or top 5) for.
I have a top 10 list of adventures already, but I could definitely do some more!

Hello! You mention a table for hireling traits present in an other book, is it Castle Xyntilan?
Yep - Castle Xyntillan!
6:50 Why is the road more than 6 miles from the keep? Asking for a friend.
:D That is a good question...most likely to avoid the "there's a bunch of horrible monsters right down the road from us"...but maybe it was just the closest convenient box canyon!
It’s a river, not a road. My idea for the Borderlands was that it’s so untamed that there are no formal roads as the territory is constantly changing.
@@ShinyMissingno97 le wild author appears??
i was interested until "Not Colonizers!" 💩
Well, the point is more about what Law doesn't do, rather than something more broad I think. Law always gets a bad rap these days!
I’m really irritated, I was subscribed to you, and didn’t find out I was unsubbed until someone shared this to the subreddit.
Not sure I understand...you accidentally subscribed, or accidentally unsubscribed? :D
@@RedMageGM my bad, I didn’t bother to read what I had typed. Yes, I was randomly unsubscribed from your channel.
It's all good man! Glad you made it back though! :)
Maybe "Topple-Blocks" is the generic name lol.
