- On today's episode, we ventured to unknown waters in search of giant native brooks. I found this particular creek deep within the National Forest of Virginia and decided it looked like the perfect place for native brook trout! After a short drive, I noticed the fishing/human traffic seemed minimal and quickly realized I had found a gold mine! After a short walk and only a couple hours, I put a bunch of the brooks in the net! I hope y'all enjoy and make sure to Like and Subscribe!!

Good to have ya back
@@robgilbert4556 it’s great to be back! Thanks for watching!
@@CatchingLimits i undertsand prolly busier now
great video, love watching you find trout in new water and wild one too, you are doing good with the fly rod, keep them coming
@@robertcox815 thanks!! It has been so much fun searching new waters and have been rewarded with the most pristine scenery! Hopefully I’ll be able to continue doing these weekly videos!
Saw that bigger one run on first release
From start to finish, a great video, from the music, to the demonstrations. The creek which rolled over rocks and turns, creating little waterfalls, was picturesque. The trout were quite pretty and colorful. Thank you for sharing! Great! 🎣
I fishing and cascades and had on an egg sucking leech pattern and missed strikes like 10 times in riffle on a plunge pool. I was setting hook to early on the rise.
@@robgilbert4556 I definitely think I was jumping the gun on a lot of fish. The next video will be with dry flies and it was much easier to identify takes which led to my hookup ratio being much greater!
Decent water for this drought! What county is this? Wondering it is down south and west?
Yes sir! This was filmed in Amherst County about 1.5 weeks ago. Wonder what it looks like now without much rain in the past 8-9 days
What are those ? They look like baby Atlantic salmon
These are native brook trout, the state fish of Va. They can be found in most mountain streams in the higher elevations where water temps stay cool throughout the summer. They are in the same family as the trout/char that can be found in the northern part of the U.S.
@CatchingLimits oh now I see it I've caught many in upstate NY, but they're vividly colored here olive body with bright redorange fins and purple polka dots
@@ericschulze5641 these will get to be that color once the fall/cooler weather comes and the fish begin breeding. Right now, air temp is still 80 degrees but they should start getting colored soon. Thanks for watching!
Grow up and find some fish actually worth catching
@@finally1811 sure! What kind of fish would you like to see? I thoroughly enjoy fishing for these fish (especially considering I don’t have many options during the hot summer months in Va…) but I recognize my viewers have preferences too! I’d love to get some feedback!
@@CatchingLimits Don't listen to this idiot, catching wild Brook trout is some of luckiest things and angler can do. These fish are a national treasure and almost completely gone in wild native populations. I live in Maine and am privileged to be able to catch these fish. people have lost the respect for the raritiy and beauty of north American trout. Fuck size chasers.
