There’s lots of subjects you touch on, that incite memories of how I’ve dealt with things in the past. Your words are more meaningful than you know. They have consoled me on bad days, and made me think of my actions and behaviors. Thank you for bringing up that a man can be emotional. I look forward to more videos and wisdom from you! Hi Dewayne! As a mom of two grown sons I want you to know I 100% agree about reading to your kids. From the time of their births, I read practically every single night to my boys. By toddler age, they both could not wait every evening for reading time!
Thank you. Im a Grandma, wasraised without tv. Memories of my dad reading to us are the best. And he also was a wonderful story teller. Had our attention completely.
I also have great memories of my parents reading to me. You learn a lot and it's just a great way to bond with your children. Would really like some.more book recommendations, Dewayne.
Thanks Dewayne I needed this as a young father. I want to keep my child’s wonderment and imagination alive so I think I’ll start reading a chapter of a fun book after dinner that is a great idea.
No greater gift can a parent give - the love of immersing oneself in words. Thank you for popping up as a video to watch this evening. First time viewer, first time sharing your content.
Good recommendation, and yes, we'd love for you to continue this! I'm 23, and over the past year have rediscovered how much I love to read. It's easy to consume our time with social media, and when I turned 18 and got a cellphone, it quickly replaced my reading time. I love listening to podcasts or watching channels like yours while working around the house, but when dinner is done and the evening comes, I read and write
Dewayne, you are blessed to have been able to read to your children and I hope this experience created lasting memories that also created readers in your children. When my twin brother and I were young children in the late 1960's and early 1970's, my Dad, who has a wonderful reading voice, used to work late into the evening and wouldn't be home by our early bedtime. There were times he would read to us, but he eventually got the bright idea to tape himself reading these books to us, and then our Mom would play the tapes back as she pointed along in the book to Dad's voice. So I grew up with a love of entertaining stories. Comes my age getting around 7 to 10 years old and my Dad would set up late with me after he came home from work and I would read books to him, just the two of us in his bed. I read the series on Doctor Dolittle and a few other books. But my favorite book of that time was Rudyard Kipling's "Captains Courageous." Of course I had seen the 1937 film of the same name with Freddie Bartholomew as at first annoying "Harvey Cheyne," Spencer Tracy as the affable and thoughtful "Manuel Fidello," and the crusty but loving and wise Lionel Barrymore as "Captain Disko Troop." I read that book with my Dad and loved every second of the adventure. I have yet to read other books by Kipling, but I have read the poem about "Gunga Din" (as well as saw the 1939 film -- a magical year for film), and looked at parts of "The Man Who Would Be King," which the 1975 film (that I saw when it came out in the theater) is fairly faithful to, and saw of course the cartoon for "Riki Tiki Tavi" and the various incarnations of "The Jungle Book," especially with Sabu. I guess that's why I became a librarian and have a large personal library. Keep on reading, and keep on buying books or borrowing them from the library!
Hi Dewayne, I just wanted to say that I love your videos! Even though an ocean and about thirty years of age divides us, we have a lot of shared values. I take to heart your view on things. Every one of your videos sheds a light on important topics from your perspective, one that we don’t hear enough. I have always been keen on listening to stories of experience from - to me - older folk. From a young age, I would stay around adult conversations and absorb what was being said. And I just love listening to your stories! My father used to read to me and my siblings every night, and he still does sometimes when we go on vacation together. He must have read at least a hundred books to us: first children’s books (amongst which The Jungle Book), but later novels like The Long Ships and The Hobbit. I cannot stress enough how much I love it, and I know that one day, I will read to my children as well. I am very thankful for my education: my parents were never unfair, explained all kinds of scientific curiosities, took me on hikes, and read to me almost every night. Please know that your lessons are being heard, and that your channel is my favourite on TH-cam. Sending you love, and wishing you the best of luck forward.
I really like your books recommendations! Would love more, of both books for reading with the children and books for adults. Completely agree, reading with the children is very important. A child that loves reading will never get bored in life (most probably)!
Loved this sir. Thank you. Been visiting with you a long time now. These are the exact talks that hooked me to begin with and kept me coming back. Best to you and yours. Keep it up.
It’d be very helpful to your horse community followers if you could talk about your feeding routine to prepare your horses for a WY winter and also what you feed, how often, etc to keep them fat during the winter. Coming from Florida and moving to Washington state-so I want to know what to expect 😊
During your earlier video, at your recommendation, I bought Log of the Cowboy for my dad. Thanks for the recommendation. I appreciate the encouragement to read with your kids. You're right, as usual. Cheers! Hope you enjoyed that C&D Pegasus!
I appreciate you DeWayne, I am thankful for your life and existence as part of this world, and I think you are one heck of a man, God bless you, and thank you for the book recommendation!
I’m going to be 70 this year and I remember the book that started me reading. Forest Patrol by Jim Kjelgaard. It hooked me. Laying on the corn in the crib, rain on a tin roof. Fall weather.
@@jatrodai8921 I like fantasy, Star man’s Son by Andre Norton started me on that trail. But she wrote over 60 books before girls were allowed so she changed her name to Andre 😂🤣. Anything by her. Next author I love is Anne McCaffrey. Dragon song is the first book of a trilogy. But, that little trilogy is just the edge of a great abyss.. Great works. As I got older C.J. Cherryh came along with a book called The Pride of Chanur which is a view of the galaxy from a non human prospective. Great fun. Hope this helps start your journey.
Young man i've got an old ford 1 ton it has an International diesel engine in it. It has the freeze plug block heater. Does not seem to do much good. I put a tank heater on it. They work good.
Thanks Dewayne. My kids are grown and I have one grandson. I’ll recommend this video and book to my daughter and son in law. Enjoyed me a Charter Oak Connecticut Shade tonight.
I grew up reading Rudyard Kipling. I have quite an extensive collection of his works still today. His stories never get old. I always read to my children and now they read to their children. It's a great bonding experience! Thanks for the recommendation.
It's very important what you said. Neither of my parents spoke to me when I was a kid, my father hated me from a young age so I had to learn things by myself. All the things that children should be taught by their parents I had to learn on my own.
Thanks Dewayne. I'm going to look for that book. Sounds like a good one that I would enjoy through this cold winter with my coffee and a pipe. Thanks for sharing all of your wisdom. Happy Smoking
We sit down at the table and have dinner together as a family, no electronics allowed. We do Sunday brunch, and then have any and all family over every Sunday for Sunday dinner. It is incredibly uplifting and amazing
I love the part where you mention how you can save face by reading kids book you want to read but doing it "for the kids". Ill read like 2 or 3 more short stories after mine fall asleep. Get a set of My Book House. It's 12 volumes, starting with nursery rhymes and ending with Greek epics. Good stuff. Great video Duane!
Im glad I flicked on youtube and saw this tonight. And to answer your question this type of video is refreshing to say the least. Im a big reader myself and you're right about people not reading anymore. Especially parents reading to their children. My mom always read to us as kids and wouldnt you know it, I love reading still to this day. Anyway I appreciate what you're doing with the channel brother. Catch ya next time.
Book stuff is always welcome, the world needs more of it. My pop giving me The Wind in the Willows to read was life changing for me as a kid. My dad reading me short story collections was as well.
Thank you for the book recommendations! I sure appreciate them! I read Riders of The Purple Sage thanks to your recommendation in an earlier video and really enjoyed it.
I was looking on your site and was sincerely wanting to bring my grandson’s 13 and 9 to wrangler school. I see you are booked up so I’ll keep my eye out for your next year. Awesome book review especially my grand boys. Thank you and God Bless You and Yours 🙏🏼📖
Thanks, DeWayne. My book recommendation, something from the past few months, "Woman of the Boundary Waters" by Justine Kerfoot. Great humor, wonderful stories, and a good book for winter.
My humble recommendation is Winterdance by Gary Paulsen. If you don't mind a bit of hyperbole and a great deal of laughter, you will enjoy this book about a man who decided to run the Iditarod with no idea of what he was doing.
ill refer to you as uncle , cuz you sir remind me of him.... your manners the way you talk the way you put out whats hiding in your head its like your exact copie of him... and i miss him dearly... thank you uncle for sharing it, ill give it a read, be safe look out for your health and above all be happy

I love factual books/biographies/astronomy and the likes. Last one i read was Billy Connelly biography by his wife, Pamela Stephenson. He was born and raised just up the road from me, so its easy to relate to it. Great book for anyone though.
Please keep up the recommendations!! You have helped me through some tough times and your book recommendations are always good…thank you for all you do!!!
Thank you for these recommendations! I am just starting to discover American literature because where I live it is tough to find, I have to order most of it from abroad. Slowly but steadily I start to build a collection in my library and your recommendations are very helpful. As a (relatively) young parent, I admit that sometimes I just don't have the patience to read children's books to my kids, so I just find a good recording and put it on when they go to sleep. That was how it was when I was raised - with tape recordings, mostly. You see, my main problem is that I have to go to the kids' room for half an hour or so, they have to be in bed and I have to read them stories and it steals the precious time I have after dinner with my wife. So you gave me an idea - if we read them at the table and not in bed, it could be a nice compromise for everyone. Yeah, I will try that. Thank you kindly, sir!
Thanks Dewane , when i was a kid i loved reading . We didn't have a TV , or anything kids have today , we had lots of time and curiousity . Thanks from here in Israel , all the best❤
Thanks for the recommendation. We read to our kids and their favorite was Tucketts Travels. The Hatchet was another that was recommended but that one was too slow for us. Louis L'Amour is what got our son really reading and all of them are grown now and now the ones that have children read to their children. Thanks again!
I like your book recommandations. I used to be a big reader but now I'm not taking enough time for myself to read and those videos give me back that interest. Thank you Dewayne.
Washington Irving - there is a wealth of good reading by this author. HistorIcal gems as well as just fun, wonderful reads. I encourage everyone to head to the library and start your new year off with these reading gems.

My wife got me this one and Log of a cowboy for my namesday thanks to your recommendations. we watch your and mommas videos together. cant wait to read it, thanks!
I like this video, iam 67, love the west, lived in it for a few yrs in the 80s, now iam a retired saddle maker, just make a few things, I have read only 5 books, iam a very slow reader, they were all real stories, one you may have read is, 15yrs on deck of a pony, story of Charlie Siringo, great book, now I listen to audio books, not the best but I can't focus, again great video, thanks
I’m going to take my kiddo into town to the used book store in search of a few of these recommendations. I know I could just click and wait for it but I think this way would be much more meaningful. Thanks Dewayne!
Feedback: positive! It is good to hear about relaxation in the midst of hard work. And advice for child raising.
New hat, Dwayne is swaggin
Smoking a cigar, listening to you Dewayne. I look up to you and men like you. Thank you for speaking to us.
Please don't ask if we "mind" anything, I really appreciate how you speak your mind. Don't start putting too much value on our opinions now!
I think he just wants to make it seem like we are there with him having a conversation and i think it's working:)
@@starsandpaperbacks7618 this is a good point, and I very much agree!
Hope you feel better from Lake Tahoe California
Yes Please Keep the reccomendations coming I love a good old time story specially a cowboy story Thank you Dewayne you are a good respectable man Id be pleased to meet you sometime
I love your book recommendations. Please keep them coming!
This are great please keep doing them!!
Keep 'em coming! Reading is becoming a Lost Art.
Keep them coming Dewayne! We enjoy the recommendations.
I thoroughly enjoy your book recommendations. Keep them coming!
👍👍
Hey hope your well. Could you give me some book recommendations that have stayed with you throughout life that come to mind? Thanks?
I love the book recommendations. Plan to read the log of a cowboy and the tour of a paries. keep 'em coming. Thanks Vince
I grew up reading Rudyard Kipling. I have quite an extensive collection of his works still today. His stories never get old. I always read to my children and now they read to their children. It's a great bonding experience! Thanks for the recommendation.
I like book review, even if I don't end up reading the book, I like to see what other people are reading. Your "cap" looks nice and comfy!
It's very important what you said. Neither of my parents spoke to me when I was a kid, my father hated me from a young age so I had to learn things by myself. All the things that children should be taught by their parents I had to learn on my own.
Love all the nuances of this channel! ❤ to hear you and Momma do a deep dive on your homeschooling recommendations, advice etc.
I hope it is as good as the first one cuz it was a blast love you both and God bless you all
Just ordered a copy, I've been trying to read more as of recent and these videos are my favorite reminder to just sit down and read every so often.
Really grateful for this, OG 🙏🏽 thank you
Washington Irving is probably my favorite American writer, such a gifted storyteller. Thank you for the recommendation. Stay warm!
I LOVE Kipling and have a small collection of his poems and a few short stories.
Yes, please - more future book reviews! Well done!
I appreciate the book recommendations and would enjoy more of these videos when appropriate. Thanks you sir.
I’ve turned watching your videos into a nightly routine. It’s a great way to decompress and think after a long day. We love you Dewayne ❤
I'm 17 at the moment and I'm no way near getting children but I already want to go around and search for advices to raising children and this video helped me a lot because you can't just take the phone away and leave the children empty handed and I dint knew what to do in this situation so this video opened my eyes. Thank you and have a blessed day (sorry for my bad English )
Fun fact...mowgli is based the real happening of feral children raised by animals in India...love Kipling
Thanks Dewane , when i was a kid i loved reading . We didn't have a TV , or anything kids have today , we had lots of time and curiousity .
Thanks from here in Israel ,
all the best❤
I would love to read Tour of the Prairies. Definitely like the book recommends.
Always good to get a video from you! Keep on with the book recommendations please.
Dewayne, keep going. I haven’t started my family yet but I’m saving all these for when I do.
Rikkitikkitavi is probably my favorite story of all time ❤
Thanks for the recommendation. We read to our kids and their favorite was Tucketts Travels. The Hatchet was another that was recommended but that one was too slow for us. Louis L'Amour is what got our son really reading and all of them are grown now and now the ones that have children read to their children. Thanks again!
I appreciate the book reviews, Dewayne. I’d love to hear more about the books you’ve read that have shaped you into the man you are today.
I like your book recommandations. I used to be a big reader but now I'm not taking enough time for myself to read and those videos give me back that interest. Thank you Dewayne.
Keep these book recommendations coming!
Washington Irving - there is a wealth of good reading by this author. HistorIcal gems as well as just fun, wonderful reads. I encourage everyone to head to the library and start your new year off with these reading gems.
