Thank you so much for following and supporting my channel! I also really appreciate you tagging me. You are gorgeous! You have the most stunning eye color! It was so fun watching you try this! I have a little tip for you - you may want to try a peach based concealer. The shade of concealer is a little light for covering depth (although it could be a camera and lighting thing).

This technique goes back to the Marilyn Monroe days, however, Vaseline was the product used. With this technique, less is more, Aquaphor can also be used as an all over face primer . 🌷

A single product isn’t all things to all people because we’re all different…even two people of the same age. Of course, that seems very obvious, but we don’t act like it’s obvious. If somebody loves something we go out and purchase the same thing and expect the same results. It’s unrealistic.

  • @annieirvine9259
    @annieirvine9259 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

I think maybe you need the stick version. Lip balm in a stick is nowhere near as sticky, if you get my drift. I use a blur stick in a pink tube from Erborian which keeps my under eyes moist and does stop the creasing to some extent. If it starts to crease I put a bit more on. It is worth giving these things a try. Enjoyed the video Dez 🌹

First of all, you are lovely and sweet. Aquafor seems very moist, so the concealer and powder just sunk in. The Marionette lines are inevitable. I like your make up and with less Aquafor and more concealer plus foundation perhaps it would be a better blend. Models used Preparation H to get
the puffiness under the eyes to go down. I would also use the brown eye shadow from outer corner
of your eye all the way to the other side to darken the light puffiness in the inner corner next to the
nose. When I see adds with seniors I use a light brown color pencil and shade all the things that come with age and the do the same on my face. It's great fun. Thank you, I subscribed and thumbs up.❤

Hi Dez: I use just a bit of Aquaphor at night, over eye cream, under my eyes. I try to use elf camo hydrating concealer, which doesn't seem to crease much at all. I don't wash my face in the morning as i do at night, so there's moisture still there. Vaseline under the eyes works as well as an eye cream; a bit of castor oil is fine, too, imho. I use very little, if any, powder under my eyes. Aquaphor is a wonderful product.. maybe you'd prefer the stick form. Personally, I haven't tried this yet. Thanks so much for sharing! Rosemarie ❤️

I think you look fabulous! It’s great to know women still want to wear make up in their sixties. My Nans didn’t wear make up, my mum only used Mascara so I’ve never really used make up since being a mum myself. There’s a concealer with diamond powder, it reflects light and diminishes the shadow which is created from creases. It’s called FIORE. I’ve been looking at this product to use daily. I’ve just turned 49 and perimenopausal. I feel puffy, ugly and want something to make me at least look better. I will let you know how I get on with it.
I used to use Vaseline and eyeshadow powder together too! It keeps it in place somehow. I’ve recently used urban decay setting spray too and it keeps your makeup from moving. Apply with a brush that’s been lightly sprayed and pat it on.

It looked a bit vaseline like , not sure it really worked, sorry. But hey, we have to try these things. My go to under eye , well there are two, the rodial low light banana colour corrector, of which they also do a peach version, is amazing stuff, worth every penny. Also the beauty pie under eye brightener. But the rodial one is exceptional. To be fair, I don’t have any problem areas under my eyes, plenty elsewhere, but not there. This is a tricky one. I think if you are used to using a concealer and powder than the.”greasier”, horrible word, I realize, but I didn’t know what else to use in this case, Aquaphor will just not give you the same kind of coverage. I do think you looked really good outside! That said I have never been able to use concealer under my eyes. Or powder! It always settles in the creases and looks terrible. I think that my under eye wrinkles are my biggest problem! And I wish there was something to do to help that. Years ago, I used to get Botox into there and that helped tremendously, but They say that you have to stop doing that overtime as it really wears out that thin skin. I find myself putting an eye cream on during the day, just to keep that area looking as luminous as possible.

    Hello Dez.
    Thank you for this video.
I think that where you possibly went wrong was using the ointment as opposed to the stick balm.
They have very different ingredients in - one, the ointment, is more akin to vaseline and is very greasy indeed.
The other, the stick balm, is much more matt, although still really hydrating.
Perhaps if you had have blotted the top layer of the ointment prior to applying your concealer?
I thought it looked wonderful and you have amazing skin.

Idk if they still make it bc i found it in 2019 and really only use it in the summer months but vaseline and burt bees may have a stick form that can help if you prefer that over the lip balm. I agree that natural light looked much better.
As for fine lines, folds and bags.. most makeup will settle in. A base that is meant to withstand moisture is a go to for me so a bb cream or summer foundation works great for this and I use it all over. Look for 8h-24h hold, waterproof and water resistant moisturizers or foundations. My main criticism is powdering in general will always cause settling. As i’m noticing my own wrinkles, creamy based products and setting sprays help so much more. I agree that products like plexiderm can also reduce bags as well. It’s hard when jowls come in because you overal are competing with that gravity so regardless, most makeup will settle especially throughout the day.. even in my younger years, because of temperatures or weather, i always end up reapplying.
I used vaseline in summer months because it tends to hold the makeup in longer and keep a glow. In the winter, i use different types of moisturizers at night, morning and different primers. Lately i’ve been using nyx eyeshadow primer and tatcha for under eye to help creasing and so far so good? After a certain point as it fades, i start to give up😅 Sometimes I use oil with my moisturizer too but i rarely use powder because of settling. I’ve always been curious about this trend so ty for testing it out. I love all the brushes too! I been meaning to get some rather than use my hands as an applicator haha

Indeed you ought be Penny, considering it's been a lifelong issue for me~ one I've not ever quite mastered to my liking. Perhaps it's time I relaxed my expectations a bit, hehehe. Even in my teens, I was already buying Maybelline Cover Stick in Light, the only one available in drugstore back in the 70's. Seems there's always these percieved "flaws" we learn to live with, based on decades of extremely airbrushed magazine photos~ really a shame, imho. Simply not realistic, to say the least. I'm almost embarrassed that I still give it so much attention some days.
Have definitely decided that less is more as I age~ no need to highlight what I'd rather fade into the background. A little concealer, no foundation or powder, maybe a dab of blush, & lash tint only on upper lashes ~ lip color, of course. That's it for meSammy in AZ

I'm 68 now with good skin for my age. I use the aquaphor ointment on the part of my face which I want glowy( it blurres my wrinkles) but find that it's too shiny for under the inner under part of my eyes. In Canada I can't find the lip balm but I will check out another brand for that. Too much powder under the eyes I find, settles into the fine lines and looks crinkly. This is the first time I saw your channel. It's great that you are giving tips and advice for our age group. Thank you.

You have not done the actual hack- you must use the Aquafor LIP BALM which contains beeswax which will fill in any lines and lock in the moisture. I’ve done this for 3 weeks and the results are amazing for this 60 year old. If you can’t find the lip balm in the UK, any lip balm STICK should work

I think Gabi used a lip balm stick (not as sticky as the tube)- I saw her video, but wondered if this was used in place of eye cream, or as well as. Gabi was pulling her undereye while applying this which worried me slightly. I think Aquaphor is a lanolin based product, which I know gives some people problems. I'm going to give it a try - did you use eye cream too? Thanks for trying!

I've gone from the beginning of the video to the end of the video with no makeup vs makeup. Vaseline or not. I think she looks more awake and hydrated without makeup. But I know that's not the point of this video. Worth a shot to keep trying the Vaseline trick for a bit to see how you like it though! Either way, Vaseline is super hydrating and great for skin 😊

  • @Cat-no8ts
    @Cat-no8ts 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

It seems to me that the Aquaphor is simply adding extra moisture to your under eye area, but in terms of - does it create more coverage with your makeup?, I would have to say, not really. However, more moisture under the eyes is always a good thing. I think I would try the Aquaphor strictly as an under eye moisturizer. I personally use a gel primer. I find that gels seem to work much better on my skin than creams, especially when I'm looking for a deeper moisturizing effect under my eyes. After I apply the gel, I allow it to dry and then apply my makeup. It lasts, too. And when you showed us your skin in the sunlight, I really could tell that the Aquaphor deeply moisturized your under eye area. It was beautiful! As for the mascara fallout, I do know from experience that any type of product that's in a Vaseline formulation will easily dissolve makeup of any kind, so it's not surprising that your mascara melted a bit. Just as a side note, the gel primer that I use also prevents settling in any fine lines or creases, and using a setting power just doubles the effect. Perhaps try a gel primer instead but leave the Aquaphor as an under eye moisturizer. Great video!❤

I think you're right, Cat. I have a kind of gel which I often forget to use for my under eye - the Clinique - it's a gel cream, if that makes sense. A couple of comments have mentioned Peter Thomas Roth so I'm going to get hold of his eye gel and see how I get on. I think I've neglected my under eyes so this has been a lesson learned!

Hi sweet Dez. I saw Gabi do this trick. Interesting to see if the cream formula works.
Scott Barnes did an incredible underpinning on Tati Westbrook. She looked incredible.
You look beautiful as always. Your lashes look so thick and lush!
I think the regular Aquaphor is just a bit thick for the undereye area. In the States, we use it at times for diaper rash! And also for skin rashes.
I'm glad that you tried this experiment. It was very interesting.
    Lots of love. ❤❤

Oh that's so funny, Rene, about the diaper rash usage! I had honestly never heard of it until a few days ago. I think it is too thick, and a stick version might be better, but you gotta try things, right 😉 - anyway it was fun to do. Thank you so much for your kind compliment - I put my lashes down to a combination of Revitalash and getting them lifted every few months - otherwise they are like stalactites! Love to you too ❤️❤️❤️

Yes! I've used it many times on Henry's tush! LOL. It's great for skin conditions as well. I can't imagine it working under the eye area, because it's so emollient, but I'm glad you did experiment. The stick formula is probably a better bet, but I understand that you can't get it in the UK. Oh well.
