I mean, she didn't. That was a thing that very much happened. She accepted him inasmuch as he obeyed her and did what she wanted. "I see you're changing from how I designed you" is not the statement of someone who accepts you. Athena wanted stoic, unflinching, heartless pragmatism and when Odysseus fell short (because he's a human man with human emotions) she left

Another detail I found, was that before Odysseus opened the wind bag to Poseidon (at the end of Ruthlessness I think?), he says the line
“All I gotta do is open this bag!”
The way he says it is the same as the line that Aeolus sings in Keep your friends close
“All you gotta do is not open this bag”

I think there are a lot of examples... e.g. also from "Ruthlessness", the way Poseidon sings "remember me" follows the way Odysseus said it in "Remember them"! As a rule of thumb (which I realized worked well for Hamilton and other musicals too): if you hear a lyric that was used in a previous song, with or without potential slight variations, chances are it's sung with the same melody 😆

  • @Sam-fp2qh
    @Sam-fp2qh 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +62

Ooohh! That detail makes Athena's last line hit so much harder!
When she sings, 🎵Don't disappoint me,🎵 she holds the last note. Same as she did on "mind" in the first chorus.
Even though she and Odysseus are vibing by the end of the song and she's open to his influence,
Her holding that note on 🎵me🎵 is Athena in full goddess mode issuing a VERY clear warning/expectation.
It makes her disgust in Odysseus during "My Goodbye" hit even harder.

Another thing I noticed(somebody else might have mentioned it, if they did I am sorry) is the ties between There are Other Ways and Penelope’s song - The Challenge. After Odysseus says “I can’t!” We can hear the starting melody for Penelope’s song. It’s weird - because they’re sort of doing similar things in the songs too. In There are Other Ways, Odysseus is trying to convince Circe to let them leave, to not let them be puppets anymore. Penelope’s song is all about her trying to convince Antinous’s army that the challenge she proposed will make one of them king, to try and free herself from becoming a puppet. It’s also because Odysseus was talking about Penelope when it started playing, and it was also mentioning how Poseidon wants Odysseus dead. Poseidon caused the storm that hit Ithaca. Penelope sings about it in her song.
Just something cool I found. :D
This might be wrong, but idk. Just something I noticed.

AUGHHGHH!!!! Ody and Athena's friendship means the world to me.
(BONUS THOUGH!! There's a song in the making like WAY into the musical, a Telemachus song, where he's speaking to a "new friend" and talking about how his "new friend" should help someone else (impkied t be the friends "former friend"), and he says "I don't think he'll miiind~" with ODYSSEUS' RIFF, which with the piano in the background, gives me enough hint on who he's talking to and who they're talking _about_ :D yeah I kinda over-obsessed over this riff can you tell-)

This makes “We’ll be fine” SO much better. One of the big musical hints we have that Telemachus is talking to Athena is on how he sings “mind”. He sings it just like his father did (with the musical run). Not only does this show how similar Telemachus is to his father- it also shows the friendship and trust he is ready to give Athena. This could also show Athena’s forgiveness/yearning to reconnect with Odysseus-but we’ll have to wait until the full song comes out to see that.

I have a tendency to sing Ody's part in a higher key, and then hold the last note of the phrase "warrior of the mind" and harmonize with Athena's held note. I love belting out as Athena, but runs are REALLY hard for me until I've ingrained the order of the notes in my head, and I realized it was the same run at the end of My Goodbye, and then went back to Warrior of the Mind. THAT'S when I noticed, oh hey, she only starts to sing "Mind" as a run AFTER Odysseus does it first, like she's learning and taking social cues from him just as he is from her. I thought it couldn't be that deep, so this confirmation is just giving me SO much VINDICATION right now. Bless you Mr. Jimbo-Pimbo

When I knew WOTM for like half a year and I found "My Goodbye" and listened to it only for like, two times, because it ripped my heart apart(still does). I started listening to it like a year later when I discovered that these songs were from a musical. During that one and a half year I figured out that Athena has a melody so if I hear it I know she's near, and I also noticed the detail with different ways they sing that note. It's also highlighted with the fact that Odysseus only ever sings the line in Athena's way in Remember Them when he's chastising Athena's mindset.
When he sings "Is this what it means to be a warrior of the mind?" He holds that note like Athena did. It's basically a "Is this what you wanted?" moment.

Mind u we’re talking spoiling the _huge_ plot twist where berthold and reiner were the colossal and armored titan in Attack on Titan bc she noticed there was steam coming off of reiner when he should’ve died. (My aunt had to confirm it first bur damn im mad abt that). She also accidentally spoiles me in some animes bc of her very very keen observation. But this also has a good side to it. When listening to Warrior of the Mind, she pointed out this observation in the change of athena’s singing style. That made me appreciate the song even more.

Not sure if this has been acknowledged, but in a similar vein, there's a tidbit in "Survive" where Odysseus says the cyclops must be "dealt with right here and now."
This echoes the tidbit with Zeus in the Horse and the Infant, where he Zeus says the exact same thing to Ody with the exact same notes.
I know there's a connection, but I feel like I'm missing exactly why it's there. Is it to show that Odysseus is remembering what Zeus told him, and realizes that this cyclops represents that same threat to his returning home? Or am I reading too much into it, lol.
    Any feedback is appreciated 😀

We know that everyone has instruments connected to them and we also know that God are actively controlling their own music. So this electric guitar is it from Hermes trying to entice Oydesseus into embracing his ruthless side? Or is it actually coming from Odysseus himself already willing and looking for an excuse to blow off some steam

One more thing: after Athena matches Ody's riff (or whatever it's called; I ain't a musical genius like some people - cough, cough, Jay) in WOTM, you can hear the music going back to Athena's high note. In my opinion, (maybe I'm wrong, BUT STILL!) I feel like this is foreshadowing to My Goodbye when Athena goes back to holding her high note. Just an observation, I might or might not be correct.

Wait does that mean, if Telemachus and Athena sing a song together they would be singing in perfect sync because they are closer than Odysseus and Athena

Not going to lie, I had never noticed that. But it's true. Just as true as the good news of Eternal life. To get eternal life believe and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your one and only Savior. God Bless!

I stopped listening ro Cyclopes saga after Polites death (this man knows how to tramatize us...) but i still listen to My goodbye and Spotify right after WOTM put on MG that's when i noticed this and that the eneding seems like Athena still cares for Ody but again is really angry and stubborn. Maybe this hints some mire Athena later in another saga?

Probably just because this creator is quickly gaining traction, he’s in the process of producing a musical rendition of the odyssey and as more parts of it is released the bigger splash it makes. The most recent part he released was on valentines and that part alone had 1million listens after just 3 days. It’s called epic the musical, I highly recommend
