    Long post loading:
    I normally love your videos and I am going to remain kind but this one wasn't it. It doesn't seem like you've used the products consistently to see results or reap the benefits. On camera, it doesn't seem like you struggle with hyperpigmentation.
    I have followed her since before starting a skincare and don't remember her marketing for melasma specifically but saying it has helped with hers. I love the soft wash especially compared to prequels cleanser because it does remove sunscreen and excess oils for me and prequels didn't with double cleansing with the one product. But I also, only have my mid-afternoon application so I can't speak to heavy sunscreen.
    She created her line to minimize the need for additional products. Multi ingredients in one step and you may not need them all based on your skin's needs and climate. Don't make esters seem like they don't work or aren't as good. I'm a sensitive skin type and can't handle the active form but love them all. I'm too oily at the moment for the serum and moisturizer in the morning.
    Always do your research, and reach out to a brand with specific concerns because I didn't know I couldn't handle both and was ready to throw in the towels with the initial launch.
    Flash Mask is by far my favorite because I saw results instantly. Proceed with caution on any skincare product. Start with 5 minutes and build up but do what your skin needs and can handle.
    I dislike how everyone is like the products are expensive but you spend so much on 10 steps when you could have a simpler routine with multi-step ingredients in one. That's where the cost comes in. I'm currently just using the cleanser and flash mask.
    I don't need the depuffer as I don't have redness or puffy skin but she created it for all the people wasting money on jade rollers and Jillian Dempsey’s t-bar tool. It's to use as a tool to quickly wooly product but you could easily do without it. She's said that plenty of times.
    I think she's a dope educator and never told anybody to buy her line or it's better than anything else in the market. Just a true passion for fewer steps, and fewer products that don't irritate the skin and there is science to back up each ingredient.
    A little tidbit, flash mask is strong so we don't overuse it. You only need the thinnest layer and less is more with every product she's created so far. I bought them with my hard-earned coins and will continue.
    You used tret for two years before deciding is wasn't for you. Give Dr. Idriss’ products time to see if you yield results. Consistency over intensity. Results take a min of 16 weeks and that's being consistent.

    • @DanaRipperton
      @DanaRipperton  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      While I appreciate your post, you are wrong on a few points.
      1. I consistently used the products and have emptied almost all of them. 2. I have melasma and some sun spots, but they are not the worst because I am consistently using products to help them. The sun spot showed no sign of improving. 3. I said I like some of her products. I will always give fair and honest reviews, and I’m sorry if others love her and every product, but that wasn’t my experience. 4. I don’t mind expensive if they work.
      I won’t keep going, but just want to point these out. Please remember this was my experience and everyone’s skin is different. It’s ok if you love her products and I think they’re so-so. Not everything is for everyone.

    I recently swapped over to this range from using SK-II for over a decade. I’m loving the full range. I have mature, dry skin which is very sun damaged. I’ve seen great results and follow her tabled application guidance which actually only has the flash mask twice per week. My only complaint is that I’d like larger sizes for the serum and moisturiser as you get through those quicker than the other products. Only a small amount of the cleanser takes everything off (sunscreen which gets reapplied plus or minus added makeup) at the end of the day but your skin still feels soft and non stripped (I use the prequel glenser after the gym in the morning before my morning Dr Idriss range). I’m very impressed with the full range and despite having to ship it internationally thus making it more expensive I’ve already repurchased the full range and plan on doing so as it’s been such an easy and seamless transition and a routine that is not time consuming nor complicated yet yields great results..

    All dermatologist influencer's brands on social media, I automatically ignore them when they present their products. They ALWAYS try to make us feel like their products are unique, better and magical but none are. They are literally not better than what I use from the drugstore. I am not saying they are not good tho. They might be very good but not better. Actually, brands from drugstores as La roche Posay, Cetaphil, Aveeno, Eucerin etc etc are all developed from Dermatologists too. Reason why the majority of people still buy the basics at the drugstores (cleanser/moisturizer/spf) even tho ordering online is popular. Drugstore's products are a go to.

    • @heredianna2496
      @heredianna2496 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Dermatologists are endorsed to promote these brands, some Dermatologists may have be involved in the process of creation of those products. But at the end of the day, they are always formulated by cosmetic chemists, or pharmacists ( in France where I live) and not Dermatologists and they are not developed by Dermatologists. If you don't have the final word to a product it's not fair to say that. But their marketing team knows what to do. What matters the most is who owns the brand. They are the one choosing which direction the brand should take, which includes the image, the purpose, the ingredients, the pricing, the trends or lack of trends. The owner is the one truly developing the brand and the brands you named are not owned by Dermatologists. I don't think that Dermatologists brands are automatically better because at the end of the day like any cosmetic brands their choice in ingredients is the same since they are not medecine but inci ingredients. And pharmacists or cosmetic chemists specialised in this field know better how to formulate a product in order to make it work from choosing the right ingredients, how to get the right pleasing texture or the right PH, the right combination of preservatives, ingredients that are compatible, the right packaging for a formula... Dermatologists don't know all of that since they are specialized in the medical way of treating a patient.

    I like the tips we get from dermatologists on YT. Dr. Dray, for example, is very technical and I appreciate that. I don't think they want to do us harm in any way. What I take with a grain of salt are their recommendations. Even when they are not sponsored, come on, they get a buck if we buy the products they are mentioning. They are always the same in every channel. It sounds just like PR. And I say that because none of the products they recommend are actually the products that my dermatologist/cosmetic chemist gave me to save my skin. Absolutely none of them. Same ingredients, but in effective percentages.

    Dr Shereene Idriss is the sole funding agent of her skincare line. She talks about this extensively and explains it as the reason her products cost a little more...whereas both Naturium and Prequel are backed by the Center so they churn out the products and the prices are lower. I definitely enjoy several products from both brands as well.
    I enjoy watching Dr Idriss's channel tho and adore her authenticity overall.
    However , I'd be disingenuous if I didn't say I'm kinda sick of EVERY video of hers being used as a vehicle to hawk only her own products anymore. She used to give great suggestions and recommendations for a variety of skincare concerns but now everything she talks about boils down to evening out the skin tone as the end all and thus a springboard for her to tout her own products over everything else (because her products all focus on evening out the skin tone).
    I love the soft wash and actually prefer it over the gleanser as the gleanser to me has an odd odor. Both are wonderful cleansers tho.
    Also enjoy the hyper serum, the gel cream and the arnica/niacinamide roller. Sadly, I can't use her flash mask because of its high concentration of tranexamic acid and my prothrombin mutation. Bummer too as it seems to be her most loved product.

I disagree that she doesn't give recommendations about other lines, or drugstore budget products. I use her line but bc of the price I also use some of her budget-friendly recommendations. I do think her products are overpriced but I’ve always said if someone wants to spend a lot on skincare for whatever reason its their money and they can do as they please but my issue with all these brands is them coming out with vitamin c products because i have high doubts that they even work especially when they add many other ingredients that do similar things as an actual stable l ascorbic acid product and being dermatologists it disappoints me that they push vitamin c as if its matters when formulation and the form of it matter more. I suffer from acne hyperpigmentation and it's awesome. For example, I have a hair product that I would put on in the evening after the shower. It's one of those Korean leave in sprays for scalp health... This line seems so overpriced for a cocktail of ingredients that are already in so many products on the market for less. Remedy dark spot serum has a slew of other additional ingredients and is $30 less! plus great formula and packaging

    I think you misunderstand the Depuffer--it is to help with puffiness, not redness, which are different things. Puffiness has to do with fluid retention, seasonal allergies (rather than contact allergies), can also be caused by some medications. That is why it has a metal roller--to help with cooling and drainage of fluid. Redness has more to do with irritation, rosaecea, etc. You kept referring to redness and how you don't have redness, but that is not the point of the product. Also I agree that the serum is overpriced, but you do get a full 30mL which is standard (because you get two 15ml in each package) so your math on that was wrong.

    • @DanaRipperton
      @DanaRipperton  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't misunderstand the point of a de-puffer, I just was more focused on the formula than the device. The device is nothing revolutionary. Thanks for pointing out the difference though!

      @@twlee1930 the depuffer literally says “Redness-Reducing Serum” on the front of the package. That said, I’m not sure it’s done much to help my redness & I’m almost done with my 2nd tube :/

    Unfortunately I gave up on the hyper serum as I couldn’t justify the price for the amount you get. I used it consistently for a year and seen absolutely no results. It just felt really nice on my skin that’s all 🤷‍♀️ I also had the vitamin C moisturizer included which also felt so nice and light on my combination skin however just like the serum, it did absolutely nothing for me. If I’m going to be spending my money on a product that just feels nice, there are plenty of options out there for a fraction of the price!

Also, her smacking her hand down while "educating" was just obnoxious. I moved from her channel and never looked back. Lol, the price point is ridiculous for OTC products . Thanks for reviewing
