I hate it when I see comments people make being mean about someone who is older too 😞 I think they forget they too will be old one day and will face the same process. I find older models to be absolutely beautiful and they really do look amazing for their age. I can only hope my skin looks that good when I get there ☺️
Being nice and polite to everyone is a matter of culture and education!
Young people tend to be too selfish especially now with socials!
And yes, they will become old too or maybe not?
Who knows if he lives long enough to be 50 r 60??
And that's a thing that youngsters forget!
I ❤ Karma!
As a 54yo female who spent her teens & 20's BAKING in the sun, I appreciate a Derm who speaks the TRUTH! I'm not trying to look 20 again, but looking great at 50 shouldn't be so difficult!!
Same, 54 born and raised in Southern California. I can't reverse that, I just want to look my best.
Hi Ladies, same age. I agree I am not trying to look in my 20s either. But, we are Gen X and we have a lot to be proud of just because we survived the generation of being creative, taking care of ourselves as kids, and we deserve to be our best. Jennifer Aniston and this month JLO will both be 54!!! Oh and Kate Blanchett too! So we can be fabulous at any age. I am a college professor and I am around young people all the time. We have so much to teach them. We blazed the trails so younger women have more independent lives. And we were freer when in our youth then the kiddos are today. Grateful to be through that stage of life. Time for us to follow our dreams if you haven't already. Hugs to you. And the CO2 fraxel laser procedure seems to remove a lot of sun damage. I've seen women get it that have stunning new skin underneath. It's a thought. I'm considering it. No matter what know you are beautiful.
I am 63 next week with 45 years of multiple sclerosis experience. Lord knows, if I cannot walk well, I should be happy with the way I look. Amazing that I never had an appropriate skin care routine until now. Dr. Idress. I will keep watching as I am enjoying the education, given with spunk😂😉
It wasn't. At 60, however, um there was a horrible change and the collagen decreases and skin gets thinner. Crap.
She's not speaking the truth, she's pushing expensive products because she's getting commission on them. You just need to ask your dr for a tretinoin prescription, and then you can use any moisturizer you'd like (and afford) from the drugstore.
Thank you for this. As a 51 year old black woman, I've always heard the saying "black doesn't crack". But ofcourse it does. Genetics are big in the aging process. Skincare with a consistent routine is also important. I love your notion of your skincare shouldn't be based on your age but your concerns.
Totes!!! Ty! ✌🏽🌸x
if that’s 51 yr old you in your profile pic, black really doesn’t crack 🥲
@@vanessam4980 loll thank you so very much. I was 50 in this photo. I do have a dedicated skincare routine as well a mother with little facial wrinkles. #grateful
Black don’t usually crack until much later in life for black people!!! However it can crease though when middle aged!!! Trust me I’m 50 & since turning 50 I’ve been fighting with a crease in the middle of my forehead when I frown, I’m trying desperately to massage it out 😂😂😂I got this from a skincare expert who claimed you can do this & it seems to be working but you do have to do it religiously!!!
You guys have flawless skin until 70 yo 😅 everytime I see a black woman in a store I can never say how old she is. They all look like at the end of 20s or the beginning of 30s. In my accounting class few years ago I was close friend with a black girl and she was in her mid 30s but she looked like 25 LITERALLY!!! Sad she moved away tho.
“Age is not a skin type” hope this phrase catches on ❤
🙌❤️
@@shereeneidrisscan you please post a link to the product you showed after coco? It was in a turquoise tube. Great video! Thank you.
I am in perimenopause and use hormone replacement therapy. I woke up in the middle of the night, had depression, eye inflammation etc etc etc. I feel so much better now and am happy that this decreases the risk of cardiovascular disease and many others. The fact that it also helps how my skin looks is a nice benefit.
This is great! It's also worth noting that those of us who grew up in the 70's and 80's we went to the beach with baby oil on our skin because we didn't have access to accurate information about the effects of UVB/UVA. We all wanted a "healthy"tan. Now we know how misguided that was.
80s baby here - I used to watch my Dad use 'tanning oil' at the beach instead of spf. My pale, Irish mother (who also happened to be a cancer nurse at the time) was always horrified by it. I'm pale like her and she used to cover me from head to toe. My Dad's mother used to go off at her for it and say my pale skin was nothing a few goes on a sunbed couldn't sort out 😱 So so glad my mum was having none of it.
My neighbour still fries in the sun with baby oil 😳😂
Would love a video about office procedures that address wrinkles, sagging, hyperpigmentation ect. Its difficult to sift through the sea of information out there. I like your honest, informed, educated, no nonsense approach to skin care.
As someone going through premature menopause and aged a ton overnight, thank you 😢
try hrt.
If there's no reason against it for you, get on estrogen replacement therapy! If your doctor isn't supportive (& again, there's no solid reason specific to you that makes it unsafe for you personally) then find a different doctor who's more up to date that ma y women can take it and someone younger would especially benefit. Good luck.
I love your videos plus you have such an amazing skin hehe. Over the years, I have tried almost everything: face exercises, vitamin C serum, Fraxel, collagen supplements and even Retin A for about 7 years straight. However, nothing made any real difference compared to the high-quality derma pen I purchased for under 100 bucks. Within 3 months of use, my skin has improved DRAMATICALLY. I don't look like I'm in my 20s again, but definitely not 63 either. My fine lines have disappeared completely, and my nasolabial folds are way less prominent. People often underestimate the power of wounding and the revolutionary effects it can have on the skin. I strongly suggest to create a vid about this topic.
that’s awesome! I would love to know where you got the pen please? 🙏🏻💕
I am using Korabeauticals V2
thanks!!
+1 for Kora Beauticals, they are using the thinnest needles these days
I been microneedling myself as well because of old acne scars, besides the fact they diminished completely I noticed that my skin basically became just like a "glass", no pores, glow etc and I am a guy so I didn't even meant to get those results just get rid of those scars haha
A much more adequate dupe of SK II is the Missha's Time Revolution essence. Missha and SK II belong to the same parent company and it is basically identical. Only Missha is 25 euros, not a 100.
I haven’t used this in a while - do you like the latest version? I’ve been using the Iope first essence and it’s very similar to SKII
I love JIN JUNG SUNG - Soothing Moisture Skin Essence!! It’s a fantastic dupe for SK II for less than $20
@@kckc4955 I never tried the SK II (I haven't lost my mind to spend that much on skincare) so I cannot compare. But I've been using on and off the Missha one and I loved all editions so far. I am just about to finish a bottle.
BUt it's one of the products that you think "it doesn't do much" when you are using it. And then, when you finish the bottle and go a week or two without and then you notice the difference :D
@@maggiebar77Yes! Ive been using Jin Jung Sung for nearly a year and have realized absolutely as good of results as i had with SKII. Its a marvelous serum!☮️💜
I didn’t see any results with SK II so it was a lot of money for nothing.
When you hold up a product, could you please hold it still? Bouncing it up & down in front of the camera kind of defeats the purpose.
One thing that is never mentioned in skin care videos is hormone replacement therapy. I have been on it for 14 years because my husband is a dermatologist, and it truly is very helpful in keeping the skin from sagging yet got a really bad rap for people in their 60's and 70's. Physicians are afraid to order it because of the lawyers. So many were deprived of it and have the sagging skin because they were told from a 2002 study from NIH that it causes cancer. Cancer is caused from carcinogens! Estrogen can feed cancer but does not cause it. Anyway, something to think about.
I've heard this and asking my (new) doctor about it in a few weeks. I've had NP's because of a doctor shortage and this lady one told me a few weeks ago 'I'm not comfortable talking about that'! I'm hoping to get on to both HRT and tretinoine. At a derm skin check the young doc simply said 'the damage is already done,' and I know there are things like tretinoine I could use. So frustrated with the medical system where I am. Shortage of doctor's, dentists, and veterinarians!
I have ovarian cancer. I have a genetic brain. I have not been thinking about hrt but the next appointment I have I plan to ask if it contributed to the rapid cancer growth.
@@india1422 they won't treat with history of cancer because hormones do promote cancer growth in existing cancer. So sorry.
@@JS-mh1fh because of an NIH study back in 2001, it's hard to get HRT. The book "Sex, lies, & menopause" goes into that. They pass out BCP's like candy, but HRT is taboo! So frustrating!
@@bethfitmarriagebibleprophe4702 I'm aware of the study, and have recently learned that too many have outdated or knowledge that isn't nuanced to know there has been other information since that time, and it depends on how this one study is read.
Thank you! Please address 60+ as well, we are not dead yet and are interested in what you gave to say. Your 30 years old all have mothers so they should listen to your advice. Also, please recommend the products for each condition.
it s the same as for 50.
in reality starting from 40 is all the same approach
@@Sky10811exactly. As she said, age is not a skin type. Gear your skincare to your needs/issues.
This advice applies to all ages… which she explains at the beginning of the video…it’s about your skin issues more than your age. ❤️
I didn’t realize a lack of estrogen was contributing to my hollowness and jowling and not just dry skin! 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you so much for the info! More pre and post menopausal info please. 💜

I'm 67 my skin still looks great 😊
I don't think you should worry about profanity. It keeps things real. Not only do you give us good info, but you keep life real - be it with profanity or the interruptions from your family, etc. For me - all that gives you credibility and keeps you authentic vs other derm youtubers who get over-produced and over-studio-ed. Thanks as always for the good education.
Well said😊
@@lizzpichner1577 I have learned a lot from Dr. Idriss. I think she is incredibly knowledgeable, authentic, and likeable, and really doesn't need profanity to come across that way. I prefer not to hear it. It is totally unnecessary. She's great no matter what.
Agree- makes me feel better about my own cursey words😂
Thank you for this on my 68th birthday! Perfect timing! If someone could formulate skin care to fix the sagging they would be my hero and a millionaire. By the way don't worry about your cussing, it makes you even more real. I love you!

THANK YOU
Some of us are over 60 and what about us??? In my 50s I was OK. After 60, I notice the skin getting thinner and looser. Obvious even for people who look 20 years younger
Don’t care for the curse words. Not professional. Won’t listen anymore.

Right. So I am actually going on 50, huh huh
Would love a breakdown of procedures for double chin/jawline tightening. Thank you for always showing up incredibly prepared for each video and for positively transforming my face. I'm four years into your recos and I look better than ever!
Agreed! I especially would like a video discussing options for double chin
EXPENSIVE
yes and how abut crepey skin on the neck.
I'm 53 and definitely would love a video of procedures (botox, laser, etc) with the risks as well. Also curious what long term filler use does to the skin and face
This was would be great as there is a limit to what skin care is doing for me. I really want to do undereye surgery as they seems to be the area that I feel could really help me look more rejuvenated. Friends have gotten it and look fantastic.
You are so pretty
@@Hello-Stoiko were are you from?
Filler migrates and doesn't stay where they put it so people get more and more until they end up with the pillow face look.
Interesting that ppl dont/ didnt see or understand that estrogen / hormone loss causes the loss of firmness and elasticity etc. Changed my skin a lot, especially after my 3rd yr into menopause and I cant take HRT. Spent all my years in the sun until last 5 or so yrs...I need a deep plane lift lol but thats not happening so now I do the best I can with skincare and diet. Enjoy your life. God Bless
Why is the Garnier micellar water bad? I use it and I like it. I have really sensitive skin and the Bioderma cleaner for sensitive skin gives me a rash, but the micellar water I use from Garnier cleanses nicely and doesn't irritate my skin. But now I want to know why Bioderma micellar water is better.
The sofa analogy is so helpful. I always had nice skin, but now I am 54 and have acne rosacea, sagging, hollow eyes. 😩
The rapid aging and acne took me by surprise, as did all the hair growth on my face and and hair loss in my scalp and in my brows. I'm still on a 1/35 bc pill, too, so I'm getting estrogen and progesterone, but I think my testosterone is out of whack. I'll be talking to my new GYN soon about my options, as this all started at 48 when I had to drop down from a 1/50 pill to a 1/35 pill for safety reasons (a lower dose of estrogen). It sucks.
She has a paid partnership with SKII now. She mentioned it in a live. All her recommendations are pricey lately. How many of those are paid partnerships too or given as expensive options to make her product prices seem reasonable in comparison? Would love to know lower cost alternatives at least until the Pillow Talk Derm products are available in Canada.
I'm turning 50 in a couple of months and dealing with a bit of saggy skin in my neck, arms, and inner tights. I would love a video of skin products that can also be used in your body (for aging and hydration). I don't like using many products because is hard for me o keep up with a regimen. Thanks, Dr. Idriss, for doing this video
bepanthol nutritive derma, 400 ml
Are you menopausal ?
Here's the thing. I'm not sure what my "biggest" skincare issue is. I am old enough (postmenopausal) to have several. Roseacea, fine lines & wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, breakouts...😊 So I treat them all, but as sensitive skin. If I don't treat my skin as supremely sensitive, then my skin suffers in all areas. I think I might have answered my own question 😂
Same 😂
I remember she mentioned cases like this in previous videos. She used to advise to treat 1-2 concerns at a time. But with rosacea I do advise treating your skin as sensitive skin
Bentonite clay for Roseacea mix in 8oz water drink and face mask
I am your target demo for this, but I found it overwhelming and expensive. I already have a skincare regimen and had a hard time discerning what I should add or sub. I did get that maybe I should sub my 1% BHA lotion for a glycolic acid. I am not dropping 100 or 200 USD on a potion unless it’s going to make an astounding difference. Or, why do that when there are good products at lesser price points?
YES please do different videos for cosmetic procedures/treatments at different decades
Dr Shereene is so much fun - carrying the Lebanese humour and liveliness 😀
Yeah! This is my video! I am in my 50’s! Dealing with hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and menopause! Thank you for making these videos! Love all your videos! I do wash my face twice a day, but I have combo oily skin. I rehydrate my skin with essence or moisturizer.

@lisaaustin4561 I started BHRT at 50 before menopause.. And at sixty one I don't even know if i've gone through it yet.. I will be on it for as long as I can.. Suzanne Sommers was a big influence.. I live in Southern California. And I go All the way to Scottsdale AZ just to see my doctor.. It's hard to find a good one.. I may check yours out..😉
I ❤️skincare. Although these days, with groceries and everything else being so expensive, I can’t justify the investment in expensive skincare products any longer. I wish there were comparable items for a fraction of these.
First one!!!! Ever!!! J’adore ❤

I would love for you to take a deep dive on cosmetic procedures for jawline, loose/crepe skin in the neck and chest. Thank you!
Thank you for this great information. Even at 71 years old really appreciate this information. Wish I'd had this in my 50's but better late than never.
After watching this video, I feel empowered to take control of my skincare routine and address the changes that come with aging. Thank you, Dr. Idriss, for your guidance and expertise!
Yes gurrll...!!! I'm 57 and was a lifeguard for 20 years...from 16 to 36...ugh! Did not wear sunscreen. BUT, over the last 10 years, I've been wearing sunblock, using tretinoin, and am planning to invest in a red light therapy mask soon. My good genetics mean I have thick, non dry skin that doesn't really wrinkle...but the sun damage has been massive. Excellent video, thanks...!!
My skin really started changing in my 60’s! It definitely has been menopause! 67 now and I really enjoy your videos 🦋
I tend to watch videos at a sped up rate, but don’t need to do that with yours. So much information provided in 20mins!
I’m in my 50’s, dealing with melasma and became a skin nerd. Good thing, I’ve discovered you and learned so much from your vlogs. I have been using your skincare line plus retinol and hydroquinone. I’m looking forward to watch you vlog on cosmetic procedures that are appropriate for women in their 50’s.
I’m 56, and I sure wish my skin would become more dry! Over time, I’ve gone from oily to normal, but my skin can easily be over-stimulated to oily.

Its about time to focus on us women who are wiser than wise 😆 Thank you, Dr Shereen - So true, I am 60 and ppl have said that I look younger, thank my mother for her beautiful skin, but she had a gorgeous complexion well into her 70's. I swear, that woman spent time in the sun and I don't remember seeing any skin damage. I have tiny spots and some small areas of rosacea... my mother passed in 2019, may she rest, but she would preach to me when I was 25 to start using moisturizers. Don't recall that sunscreen was so popular at that time or if it was even around lol anyway, I hope to purchase this skincare line in the near future. As always, appreciate all of this content. Much love from the Bay area of California ❤
Neutrogena also makes a lovely gentle milky micellar cleaner for dry Skin nerds.
I enjoy your videos, very informative. I do have a request however; when you hold a product up for the camera, please try to hold it steady for a moment or two longer so that we can get a really good look at it. 😊 Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much for this. I'm 52 and went through surgical menopause. 1 year later I'm feeling and seeing the effects of no ovaries and no estrodial and estriol. Thankfully, I have been on top of my skincare for 20 years and seeing a medical esthetician for procedures for 5 . Your work on social emdia and your products have been a fantastic addition.
Are you getting hormone replacement therapy?
Please look into Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, you need estradiol in your body for so many things to prevent disease.
Korean skincare has tooons of essences with galactomyces, which is essential the same thing as pitera, its just not patented. They all range from $10-$25 in a largw bottle, and stylevana has bunches!😊

Thanks for this. I was blissfully going along with a great complexion and only a few forehead lines. At least your De-Puffer roller is miraculous for all the crying.
Love your videos. Most of the products you showed were pretty pricey. Could you do one on more affordable ones that u would recommend ?
Finally! Thank you for addressing a fact of life.
Please do a video on in-office procedures for all the issues that come with menopause
Love your style! Keep up the intensity. Love it. This video is so helpful giving us the basis for our issues.
I just began watching your videos, and I so appreciate your honesty. Although, I’m a little overwhelmed with the quantity and the prices of these recommended products, which I could never afford. 😢 I am 55 years old and have been using moisturizers, serums, sunscreen, peptides, etc., for many years, but I just want to find a simpler and more affordable regimen that contains the main ingredients. Thanks so much for all you are doing to educate individuals on what is/is not needed.
I have a quick question. I’ve always wondered about anti-aging serums/creams made by Luxury Brands like Chanel, Dior, Estee Lauder, Lancome, La Mer and so on. Are these really good? Is there real merit behind their proprietary ingredients?
I would really love it if you had the time to either make a video about them or even just refer to them in one of your videos ( I watch them all, so I won’t miss). I really want to know if they are worth splurging!!
Thank you again for everything! 🙏🏼❤️

Thank you for the education. Love your communication style, direct, easy to understand and funny as hell.
Found you a week ago and have been catching up on all of your content- love your expertise, direct communication and your style! Would love to see videos on the following - 1. Difference between peptides and growth factors and when to use each. 2. Scalp health - I recently moved to Utah and had hair growth issues and had started using Rogaine. That combined with with trentinoin, hard water and the dry climate created scalp issues for the first time in my life that I cannot remediate! Thanks!!!

Yes! Please create videos on procedures. There’s so much out there and a bit confusing. I know you’ll do an amazing job on educating us nerds on where to invest, as opposed to throwing away our bucks! Sending big hugs! ❤
