Liked and subbed Jay, bring on some more TLD adventure! You don't need that heavy hammer or the tool box, lots you can drop (halfway through the video). Would love to see you play Survival mode when you are done story mode, that's the REAL adventure! If you stream your play I could help you as you go, cheers!
    edit:
Fyi you can change the unit of measure in the settings, imperial or metric.
You can enable auto-walk (very helpful but be careful not to fall off anything) in settings/ accessibility.
You can enable click to interact rather than click and hold to interact in the settings.
Things that you can do in the dark:
sharpen knife and axe (i like to keep mine above 80%)
clean firearms (revolver/ rifle) (i like to keep mine above 80%)
harvest cloth from clothing, curtains, etc.
    harvest animals
This game is long stetches of tranquility with moments of absolute terror mixed in to keep you on your toes! A masterpiece of a game IMHO with virtually unlimited replayability.
Quick pro tip, probably more suited to survival mode but may be useful in story mode:
15 sticks and 5 cloth will allow you to build a snow shelter (radial menu) which can save your life if for example lost in a blizzard.
    tip 2:
black wolves (not timber wolves) can be scared off by lighting a torch (or flare) and then choosing a rock from your radial menu (this will drop the torch or flare at your feet), now just aim the rock at the wolf (do not throw it) and the wolf will charge but will veer off and run away yipping, now you can stop aiming the rock.
Frostbite is a PERMENANT health reduction, avoid it at all costs. When your clothes are wet, remove them and drop them by a fire to dry them asap.
Next episode I recommend staying on the perimeter of the forlorn muskeg map, the middle is riddled with many areas that you fall through the ice (there is a path but if you don't know where it is it is hard to find).

16:43 - don't worry - it's normal side-effect of playing TLD xD At some point you just find yourself staring at a campfire and thinking about stuff

Also, if you have a book and something cooking that eon't burn in an hour, you can read that book instead of just waiting. 2 birds with one stone 🤠

You are not wrong about the aurora (and the way some people are scared of it) but, no, in the game is definitely not a natural thing. Technically, we are still waiting for episode 5 to confirm some details but there are many clues throughout the game, so this much is safe to say.
Funny that you've mentioned historical inspiration - the ice storm of 1998 caused a massive blackout in Canada that is sometimes referred to as "The Long Dark" or "Triangle of Darkness". It actually has quite a lot of colorful adjectives attacked to it - it's often compared to a warzone or apocalypse (yup, much like "quiet aplocalypse" of the game) Look it up if you want to, it's hard to describe the magnitude of that event. Power wasn't back for weeks, some places only got it restored in Spring. Though i don't know if it was a direct inspiration for the game, the way Raph described the idea and the vibe even in early development feels too close to be a coincidence. Not to mention that it's still fresh memory for many

Ahhh I love hearing things like that. Thanks for sharing that with me. It makes me look at the game differently, that's awesome

4:27 - ...oh, but you can! Not that big of a deal here bu fyi the game constantly makes climbing over things look harder than it is (all because you are stuck to surface level - can't jump even a little). But you actually can use tilted poligons as ramps. Even when it's absolutely not intended - in the community it's known as "goating"/"mountain goating". This one though has an intended path from this side + fairly easy goat from another side.
Storymode MAINLY sticks to roads so it's not a big deal but extremely useful in sandbox

@@JaySwayGaming Happy to help :) And always happy to yap about TLD but I try to keep possible spoilers to a minimum - figuring out stuff is part of the fun. So, if you want to know something specific, feel free to ask.

Okay, so not a spoiler as such but... I haven't played the story for a long time but i did the Tales recently (part of DLC, basically several plot-related quests that can be triggered in sandbox) and now a lot of weird bits in the story actually make sense. Like these towers or why people are a bit crazy. huh
