    Advice for people who don't want to go all in: I would recommend base game plus one expansion. I suggest checking out the Defiant and Devoted expansions and picking the one with the most intriguing character-designs. From personal experience I can tell you that both these boxes offer a great range of complexity and fun play styles within their champion-rosters. The upcoming Wayward box also looks like a great fit for new players but more in-depth details about this specific expansion will be revealed over the course of the campaign so maybe wait for some updates before deciding.
    However, if Team Play is something that you appreciate in a skirmish game I can tell you that chances are high you will end up buying everything for this game because in that field I see no other game that does it as well as this title.
    Also: I am aware of all the support that this still very young channel is receiving and am very thankful for it🙏

    Brilliant game! It's very multi-faceted, addictive and exciting to play in good company. I can only agree with the interesting facts Ring of Cards lists here!
    Once a buddy of mine, very tired from work, made an incredible move that I will never forget. Instead of listening to his team mates, he made a move that the opposing team didn't expect. This move finally led us to victory. 🎉

    In this game, the characters really feel very authentic and unique. I especially like the fact that there is not a huge amount of rules and you can start playing quickly! I quickly developed a curiosity and ambition for this game. It has an amazing depth and forgives very few mistakes in competitive play. Great recommendation for Skirmish fans!

    • @RingOfCards

      That's a great point, I feel that after an initial explanation the mechanics feel very intuitive. And about the mistakes part: In my experience the players are bound to make some errors but that's also where some of the fun comes from because the mistakes will happen on both sides and teams will have to adapt their strategy to unforeseen moves.

    I absolutely 100% agree with you! This game is magical & each time I play it, I love it a little more. My absolute favorite game of all time!
    I hope you contine to make videos over it because this game is SEVERELY lacking in content that isn't an unboxing, review, or tutorial. Keep it up!
    Also: do you have a main yet?

    • @RingOfCards
      @RingOfCards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true! I still switch my characters quite a lot because I love exploring the different abilities. Tigerclaw is a character that was especially fun to play for me and recently I tried Ursafar and very much enjoyed the enraged mechanic :) Also somehow Xargatha seems very powerful in our playgroups - Which characters are popular with you and your group?

    • @0emordnilap0
      @0emordnilap0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RingOfCards lol I am the same way! My current group hardcore mains 1 character, except me; I play a different character in almost every game I play.
      I have played Wuk, Min, Silverarrow, Tali, Wasp, Hanu, Xargatha, Dodger, & Tigerclaw. However I have the most playtime with Xargatha & Dodger.
      The others in my group will play Sabina, Dodger, & Bain respectively, so I kind of always know what I'm up against but because of their repetition on 1 hero, I feel like they're gonna have better insight on those characters than I will on the many I've played.

    • @RingOfCards
      @RingOfCards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@0emordnilap0 Respect for making Dodger work. I feel that the character can be very situational but when played well some skills have a really big impact. Also something that interests me: When your friends play the same character every time, do they tend to follow the same branches in the skill tree or do they switch things up a lot? I think if they didn't get bored with the same characters over many plays that goes to show the strength of this game's design:)

    • @0emordnilap0
      @0emordnilap0 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RingOfCards thanks! I feel like Dodger is such a good pick. Even if you don't succeed in landing some of your more finnicky abilities, the threat of her landing them is almost as important.
      As far as my friend's single hero track mind, I'm almost positive they always go for the same branches everytime. There may be a few deviations on the way but there's a few cards they almost always pick. Our games are rarely short as well so even though I know what moves they'll opt for, I still have to play correctly. I think that's why I love this game; there's so much replay value.

    Just spotted the new KS and went hunting for reviews. They all seem so positive. Can’t believe how this one has gone under the radar. Tempted to go all in and get everything including the neoprene mats

    • @RingOfCards
      @RingOfCards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would try to explain it like this: The game knows what it wants to be - an experience for skirmish fans who appreciate team play and who have regular gaming groups of 4-6 players. The identity of the game is something that surely won't appeal to everybody. The Execution on the other hand has no apparent flaws, at least from my perspective. Which has probably something to do with the fact that this is a reworked, even more polished edition of an already very good game.
      A heads-up regarding the neoprene mats: Be aware that the mats are bigger than the regular game board. The mat that I own from the previous kickstarter measures 70cm x 70cm / 27.5" x 27.5" and then you want to add the hero dashboards of the teams on both sides, so you need and additional 17cm/ 6,7inches on each side where the players sit. On my table the hero dashboards will overlap the mat.

      @williamwilson3332 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply and the heads up on space needed, thankfully have a big gaming table. What are you planning for future video content? Will you be showing any gameplay?

    • @RingOfCards
      @RingOfCards  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@williamwilson3332 The next video will be more in-depth about the character-design and giving examples of how the idea/identity of certain characters reflects in their mechanics (this is a topic that very much appeals to me). After that I am also planning to show detailed gameplay examples of combos that happen during games so that everybody can get a feel for what can be expected regarding the teamwork aspect.

    I got judgement Eternal champions isnt this similar to that game?

    • @RingOfCards
      @RingOfCards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have been looking into Eternal Champions. While Guards II and Eternal Champions both are skirmish games, I see some big differences: Guards II has a focus on team-play while EC seems to be designed for 1vs1. Guards uses a no-dice system. In Guards you play a card from your hand to perform each action. Also in Guards any attack at the right moment can be deadly while in EC the characters usually have well over 10 health points that first need to be reduced to zero. Hope that this helps to get a feel for the differences between the two.
