I own a pair of Lintons and I find them amazing but wanted the Missions 770 since I've heard them (same IAG umbrella company and same speaker designer ). I'm seriously considering going for the Supers if my guess turns out right and this is a serious upgrade based strongly on the Missions (the upgraded cabinets for example seem to be the same idea of what they use on 770s) . Their line-up is a bit weird at first glance because, yes, the Super Linton will be below de Dovedale but the later is still x2.5 the price with nothing in between. Same happens with the Auras and the top of the range Elysiums. It's almost like cars used to be made, with the top of the line sports car that was a technological display of what the brand could do, and then that would trickle down to cheaper models because of scale of production and sales. Regarding KEF, their Meta technology is very different, what they use is a disc that looks like a labyrinth behind the driver and is essentially a diffuser for the waves that shoot inside. Wharfedale seems to go with the idea of something more like an absorber for those waves. BTW, keep an eye out for the Leaks 250. Again, same group, designer and engineer, what seems like a very cool approach to driver designer and almost no one has reviewed them yet. ;)

I'd love to hear these. The Achille's Heel of the Linton according to many reviewers was its tweeter. Not bad, but simply not very refined, maybe even slightly gritty sounding. So borrowing the tweeter from the Dovedale for use in the Super Linton, and having a beefier woofer motor structure might indeed offer acoustic dividends worth that additional ~$1000 for those in that market. I do wish that even though they harken back to heritage speakers they'd have made the grilles here in 2024 magnetic. Note for a limited time (till Jan 5th 2025 I think) you can get the stands for "free" with these, so $2499 for everything.
They doubled the price of the same speaker but didn't bother to put magnetic grills and hide the screws. smh Also should have had bi-amping with this new crossover.
It has a classic design with modern technology. Why don't some of you don't get it? Maybe it's costier than the last one but it has some deserved improvements in all departments of sound.
@@angelOcrisu I don't accept your argument. My Wharfedale Diamond 12.2's have magnetic grills and no visible screws and they're a 1/3 of the price of Linton's. And implementing that wont take away from the classic design of the Linton, it will actually improve it.
@dragonstone6594 You don't accept it because you don't want to accept that classic design means pins for grilles. I had until recently the 12.2 . Good speakers but for slow music.
Same speaker?? Bigger cabinet with better damping, stronger magnets in the bass drivers, better driver motors, better internal wiring and components, a newly designed crossover, and the tweeter from the Dovedale. That is not the same speaker!
My wife won't let me buy any more speakers. I had 30 but I just moved into a new house. I left my front and rears at the old house for the new owners of my old house so I'm down to 26. I'm thinking about donating a bunch so that maybe if she sees a diminishing pile, I can go shopping again. LOL By the way, looking at your room, I'm eagerly waiting for your garage sale.
Price difference to their (IAG's) LEAK Sandwich 250 is almost like negligible in my opinion, like 100 or 200 bucks. I doubt this could be superior value by any means. This one is substantially lighter, features no magnetic grilles, has simpler internal structure, etc.
They have discussed the crossover. It uses air core inductors on Tweeter and mid boards, and a new proprietary iron and ceramic core in the woofer circuit they claim outperforms air core. Overall parts count and quality look to to be substantail improvements. Probably responsible for at least a thrid of the price hike.
@@michaelmarcin1003 You put iron in the circuit you'll still get latency. I'm sure iron-core inductors "out-perform" air-core inductors when it comes to cost and space-savings.
@@abboberg I am not the one making the argument. Warfdale's chief designer gave a number of reasons why the metal ceramic was better in this use case. As to iron, I can only say that your comment regarding latency is not necessarily true. While you may be correct, I would note that hybrid materials such as this, frequently do impact electrical properties.

Added super tweeters on top and a REL Classic 98 on the floor. 2 ch ,Tube amp. Really happy now. Yeah,Right !
