      big +1, I went back to this video to look for the name of this extension. Sadly, I am using Firefox (for several legitimate reasons) and this Eloquent beta is only for Chrome. If someone knows a similar extension for FF, please let me know :)

    I gave a look to MyMind, but it did not attract me months ago. After this video, you convinced me to give it a more serious try. I really like the tiles concept to show you everything you collected. Though, I have the sensation I can have quite similar results with Things 3. Obviously, it looks totally different, but I really love its Quick Capture feature and the advanced search method within the app. As always, it would be nice to have a single app which combines Notion, Roam, myMind, and Things 3 :D Thanks Shu for the video!

    Thank you. I am a new Roam user and getting a great deal out of it. My lingering doubt was what to do with the various quotes, book recommendations, screenshots, etc that I collect on a daily basis. I was putting many of them in Roam, but I felt like it was cluttering up my graph. And also, I did not know if new information was going to be valuable in the long term. It looks like using MyMind solves the problem. I can put ideas there first and then process and add to Roam if the ideas still seem valuable.

    I've been slowly beginning to add content to mymind. Just added this video, for example. That was something I HAD been using Walling for. Looking forward to seeing he AI sorting and organizing the clips and other content.

    • @DrDanAllosso
      @DrDanAllosso 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Anastasia Naumova I mostly wanted to see if the AI worked. Also wanted to see if the Safari extension was better at clipping things into mymind than the Walling applet that works for me only about half the time. Those problems may be due to user error, but if I can use something that just works and I don't have to figure out how to optimize it, that saves me time and energy.

    Signed up for mymind after reading that they allow you to export data, when I exported the data it was in a terrible format, I was expecting nicely formatted texts and images as described in their docs but that was not the case in my experience. When I bookmark items from my phone it does not always sync up properly, auto-tagging feature does not work consistently, this app seems to be in an alpha stage and not beta, I regret paying for their annual membership.

Noticed the dark mode- are you on the Mastermind plan now? I remember in a past video you said you had been using the student plan. I’m currently on the student plan but wondering how much better Mastermind is and if it’s work the upgrade? Thanks for a great video btw!

  • @olive-vrta

    I'm surprised to see mymind presented so positively. I'd go so far as to say it is dangerous. The AI tagging is an amazing time saving concept, but it has a critical flaw -- it is much worse than you at tagging things you care about. As an example, I added a simple image into mymind of a girl in a cool outfit for character design inspiration. If manually tagging I would add tags such as "girl", "boots", "outfit", and even some other specifics like "short hair", "pink hair", "crouching". Guess how many of those tags mymind got right? None. It added a slew of unhelpful tags and missed things like "girl". It even for some reason tagged it as "long hair" which was wrong. I cannot imagine leaving the discoverability of your ideas to the whims of an AI. Yes manually tagging takes time but the more time you put into it, the more quality output you receive.

    • @ShuOmi_Official
      @ShuOmi_Official  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're absolutely right that overreliance on the AI tagging is dangerous! Especially, like you mentioned, the AI tagging for images isn't as good as I want it to be :( So, I often find myself tagging by myself when it comes to images. But in terms of other stuff like articles, I think it's pretty accurate in my experience!

    • @olive-vrta
      @olive-vrta 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Samuel Gonzalez Making the tool useless. Something like Walling is superior if you are going to manually tag. In my experience with images (not more easily indexed sources like blogs) the automatic tags were so lacking and incorrect that they were harmful rather than helpful.

    • @DonDealio
      @DonDealio 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I just tried it out - and the tags on images are what would be supposed to give it the edge over other tools that can also do searchable OCR on text in PDFs and images. Like Evernote, Google Keep (and Google Drive for that matter).

    I just tried it out and to my BIG SURPRISE I cannot find a way to actually search on the TAGS that I enter myself. WTF? Did I miss something?
    I created a tag with a very unique name - and even when I just search free text for that, the note does not come up.
    I get it that the philosophy of this app is to not have to tag everything heavily with keywords etc.. - but if I can't add just a little bit of meaning to a select part of the items, it just becomes a big tangled up pile of junk. I mean, just about the same as any confused mind.
    The people who are insane, have exactly that problem. Everything is associated in all kinds of ways that get in the way instead of making sense.
    Unless I want to use it for just ONE niche.
    If this is to be used for research (articles), inspiration (such as art or interior design) and many other things - then I don't want all of it to come up in a huge mess when I search.
    If I search for "red" I would like to limit it to a scope.
    The company also advertises that people could use "todo" and "todo done" tags. I would not use it for tasks - but it shows that they somehow signal that tags can be searched and filtered more deliberately.

    • @hik4ru
      @hik4ru 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just wait a little bit after you add those tags. On my side, it is working perfectly. But somehow, I have to refresh the page using cmd/ctrl + R or F5 (and sometimes wait few seconds, probably to let the backend of MyMind indexes the tags).
      I use personal tags quite often and it is perfectly fine :)
